This would give Trudeau a new off-ramp, and send the ball back in the truckers’ court — all without the humiliation of a white flag.

Trudeau’s ego is so sensitive that the prospective olive branch from the asterisk won’t be enough for him to lift the mandate as long as the protest is still happening.
Even if after the olive branch is put out there, the sock monkey can’t take credit for it when he’s refused very vocally he won’t dialogue.
The perception now is if the US administration budged, it was because the truckers closed down the border while leisure suit Larry was AWOL. The rubicon got crossed when he pulled the race card.

This theory would be plausible if Biden had any remaining brainpower, or cared a whit what truckers think of him. Neither is true.
