A Canadian COVID Hysteric Goes to Florida

At 1.17 deaths per hundred, Florida’s case fatality rate over the full course of the pandemic is 2/3rds that of Quebec’s (1.54).

What possesses a person to travel to another country for a luxury vacation only to complain it doesn’t mimic the dystopian hellscape they came from? I wouldn’t know, but perhaps Josh Freed, a writer for the Montreal Gazette, can offer some insight. That’s exactly what he did after vacationing in Florida and then returning to his home in Quebec, Canada.

    1. Anal 1st, then nose and throat after. Because it has been recently broadcasted: the more sites, the better, more accurate! 🙂

    2. Prinz Sparklesocks is overjoyed at the prospect of frequent anal swabs. Wouldn’t any part time homo, part time drama teacher be?

      1. I believe he’s been requesting one since they became available
Anal swab or cavity search…..either / or makes no difference to him

  1. Freed is no different than the Progs leaving California for Texas & New York for Florida. They bring all their shit along with them & start turning their new destinations into exactly what they just fled. They are entirely unaware that they are the problem.

    1. I noticed that about Fort St. John.

I moved away after I finished my B. Sc. in the late 1970s. It was a fairly conservative town, though we had our share of hippies and weirdos.

Move ahead 40 years, right after my father died. One thing I noticed was that the population wasn’t almost exclusively white any more. In addition, there were a lot more Lotuslanders and many of them didn’t leave their idiotic ideologies and beliefs behind when they moved to FSJ, probably for the “lifestyle”.

    2. Dumb Biker,
We have the same problem in my corner of Florida. Our small community is being overrun by transplants from NY & NJ, with zero change in their attitude. They can’t understand what led them to become “refugees” fleeing their shitholes to Florida. At the end of my street, I saw a young family move in with Texas plates, and thought, “Well, are Texans running to FL from the CA transplants arriving in TX now?”. Turns out that they’re from progs from Austin who are doing their bit to “turn Florida Blue”. Ugh.

  2. Are you joking?

Quebec had their worst outbreak very early in the pandemic when we knew little about the virus and had no treatment options. Their average age is *higher* than Florida.

Florida on the other hand has a governor that rejects most reasonable measures then went all in on antibodies in 2021. Florida was #6 in deaths per capita in 2021 among states. Those same MaB treatments no longer work against Omicron except for Sotromivab which is still available.

Go ahead damd compare deaths between the two jurisdictions in 2021.

    1. Hi Allan
Usually I appreciate your better thought out posts, despite the fact that I disagree with most of your views. It allows me to see how others view the world. However, this post was definitely one of your weaker responses.

Florida’s median age is higher than Quebec.
18% of Quebec’s population is over the age of 65 while 20% of Florida’s population is over 65.
Florida allowed people to make their own decisions, which is the most reasonable measure to take, unlike Quebec.
Despite being two different jurisdictions, a case rate of 1.17 compared to 1.54 is fairly substantial. It means that more extreme measures were not required in Florida for whatever reasons.
And since you are interested in using average age to justify differences in case fatality rates, Florida has the second highest percentage of elderly out of 50 states, which means that they did better than expected compared to most states.
If your point is that Florida could have done better, well, so could have Quebec.

      1. Go compare the deaths in the first wave. Florida didn’t have much, they escaped it mostly unharmed. Quebec was hammered. That was purely luck. 8500 of their 12,900 deaths came in 2020.

2021 deaths are related to policy, not luck. How many times did Desantis declare victory over Covid?

        1. The waves don’t hit everywhere at the same time, clown. And I see that you have ignored the fact that in the Omicron wave, currently Quebec has a seven day moving average of 17 times the deaths per million that Florida has. And adjusting for wave timing, Quebec has a 7 day average death rate per million that is three times the peak of the Florida Omicron wave….and that is assuming that Quebec has reached its peak. Quebec was hammered by their own incompetent government…..much like New York and New Jersey were.

    2. Can I compare 2022, goalpost-moving dissembler? Ain’t looking so hot for the retarded goose-stepping locked-down tyrannical shithole province, despite their “reasonable measures”.

Still waiting on your September prediction of DOOOM for FL to come true, by the way. What happened to all the adjusted case numbers that were going to show disaster in September and October?

Don’t bother answering, everything you spout is a misrepresentation or outright fabrication anyway.

      Now go get your shinebox.

    3. Finally acknowledges age as a primary factor in Covid outcomes, progress! Immediately hand waves it away, sad! You were so close, but you do seem unusually stupid so you should be able to get to where the rest of us are at in a couple years. Keep on trucking Allen! Tying your shoes doesn’t have to be the highlight of your year!

      1. Notice that Allan S will casually switch between cases, CFR, hospitalizations, deaths, deaths per capita, etc. depending on which metric supports his Faucibot narrative at any given time and never mind if all the others contradict it.

    4. “…had no treatment options.”

A leaky “vaccine” is not a treatment. Neither is “stay home until you’re sick enough to come to the hospital”, get put on a ventilator & have the ‘Vid kill you because while you were staying home doing nothing to treat the disease it completely & entirely overwhelmed your immune system.

And, actual, very safe, treatment options have been available very early on. Thing is, they go against the gov’t control narrative & doesn’t put money in Big Pharm’s pockets. Hence, they’re castigated as, “AHHHHHHH!!!! Horse Paste!!!” or some such nonsense, all the while many Third World countries and other folk unwilling to believe the official line of BS have used Ivermectin, HCQ, etc., to great effect.

And now they have come up with their very own pill, which does precisely the same thing that Ivermectin does, minus the other 19 benefits, but they can make money off this one because it’s not off patent.

Remove the scales from your eyes, AS. Behold the wonder before you.

      1. ^^ THIS!

And word is that the Merck pill doesn’t actually work very well. First set of tests showed about 50% reduction in hospitalization, second set of tests showed barely ANY change, combine the two and you get about 30%. This was known about a month ago: https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-03667-0

Doubt the Pfizer pill is a whole lot better.

But they’ll put $$$ in Big Pharma hands, which is all the FDA/CDC give a fig about.

      2. DB,
I have only anecdotal evidence to support you, but I agree with you entirely.

My spouse is retired military, and now works as a PMC supporting BigFed. Essentially doing the same job he did on AD but with more $$$ and more freedom. If he signs a contract, it’s typically for a 6 mth – 1 year deployment commitment, and he doesn’t go to any of the garden spots of the world.

Tricare (the DoD military health plan in the US) won’t pay for more than 90 days of Rx meds, which created a problem. We have ordered his Rx from an online Indian pharmacy for a number of years. Our US physician has written scripts which the online pharmacy has filled, for up to 1 year of meds at time. I verified with a former colleague of mine who is the pharmacist at the regional hospital I used to work at in Ontario who states that the generics I was buying for my spouse were the same that are in the formulary at his hospital, and are only manufactured in either India or China. I choose India over China.

Anyways, he accepted a contract to a region of the world that has active malaria. I looked up the CDC guidelines for travel there, and our US physician wrote him an Rx for essentially a plused-up version of HCQ, because malaria in that region was becoming HCQ resistent. The online Indian pharmacy mailed us a 1 year supply before he deployed, for less than what we would have paid had we used our Tricare insurance.

In any event, he by necessity is in close quarters with his colleagues, all of whom came down with pretty vicious versions of what is being called “COVID”. He is the only one who didn’t get sick and stop gapped duty coverage for his sick colleagues on an almost endless rolling basis for about six months. NONE of his colleagues had been advised to take anti-malarial prophylaxis and were not taking HCQ.

The same online pharmacy has supplied us with both “human” ivermectin tablets and mebex (mebendazole) tablets well before the covidiocy, with no Rx necessary, and we had them on hand when the COVID issue ramped up. No one in our family has had “COVID” even though two of my children were exposed at work and everyone in their departments was on COVID leave, but they have taken both Ivermectin and Mebex prophylaxis since the beginning.

In many parts of the world, Ivermectin and Mebex are both sold OTC, like we buy Tylenol here.

      3. Go ahead and look up the NIH covid treatment guidelines.

*plenty* of treatment options. Pre exposure, post exposure, outpatient, in hospital, in hospital severe, etc.

        1. Or better yet, ignore the NIH. There is this from the recently revealed U.S. Navy document.

“Because of its (now) known nature, the SARSr-CoV-WIV’s illness is readily resolved with early treatment that inhibits the viral replication that spreads the spike proteins around the body (which induce a harmful overactive immune response as the body tries to clear the spikes from the ACE2 receptors). Many of the early treatment protocols ignored by the authorities work because they inhibit viral replication or modulate the immune response to the spike proteins, which makes sense within the context of what EcoHealth was creating. Some of these treatment protocols also inhibit the action of the engineered spike protein. For instance, Ivermectin (identified as curative in April 2020) works throughout all phases of illness because it both inhibits viral replication and modulates the immune response. Of note, chloroquine phosphate (Hydroxychloriquine, as identified April 2020 as curative) is identified in the proposal as a SARSr-CoV inhibitor, as is interferon (identified May 2020 as curative).”

        2. “Go ahead and look up the NIH covid treatment guidelines.”

I have. And there’s not a single one that has the safety history and efficacy of Ivermectin, nor one that is as inexpensive. And, some of their recommendations are downright frightening. Remdesivir? Seriously? You’ve better odds of surviving a glassful of arsenic.

    5. More swill from the clown. Quebec was busy killing their elderly early in the pandemic. The deaths are at the hands of the useless Quebec government. No one else. The average age in Quebec and Florida is identical. Currently, Florida has a seven day moving average of deaths of 12….the same stat for Quebec is 79. And the Florida population is 21.47 million and Quebec is 8.485 million. Meaning, the CURRENT 7 day moving average of deaths in Quebec is SEVENTEEN times higher.

The treatments do work….and that is why the FDA pulled them.

      1. People die everyday some something. In America it is an average of about 8,000 a day from all causes. Canada is about ten percent of that at 823 a day. The whu who flu has not increased those numbers. Someone is lying.

    6. We know this is a lie because DeSantis was criticized for getting the vaccines into the elderly first as a priority, by supplying those communities. Of course libtards accused him of favouring republicans. He has never discouraged vaccines, only asked for all of the above. As he and his spokesperson have stated multiple times, most of the people needing antibodies were fully vaxxed.

    7. Actually Allan, it is 41.9 in Quebec, and 42.2 in Florida, which is virtually no difference, but Florida is higher. Not terribly relevant though a distribution is required to actually understand the demographics. Is this typical of your assertions, i.e. wrong?

    8. Wow, Allah, you’re now a defender of Qweebec FASCISM.

Move there, NOW! HURRY! Those frogs will save you, Anglophone, hope you enjoy your second rate citizenry there!

Give me FREEDOM 8 days a week. Most of us would move to Florida in a heartbeat, if it weren’t for Blackie Castreau’s fascist prison

  3. It is a mystery isn’t it? I’m sure there’s a name for it in mental health circles.
The only possible explanation? The Gazette ponied up for his trip in return for a story and along with it some stipulations. He knows who puts the butter on his bread.
    Failing that…an utter retard.
He’s taking it on the chin in the comments. Good.

  4. All covid hysterics should be locked up, for their own good, and let those of us who are not hysterical cowards get on with our lives; they’re the ones who are so scared, let them live with the consequences of their cowardice, instead of subjecting normal people to their abject cowardice.

  5. After reading the article, the old insult, “too dumb to come in out of the rain” comes to mind.

  6. Quebec is interesting because they are locking down the hardest and going to Florida in droves. They must all be Federal government employees and used to doing the opposite of what they tell the slaves.

    1. Isn’t virtually everyone in Quebec a government employee of some sort? Stupid, lazy and entitled is not exactly a great workforce for a private enterprise, so not much wonder.

  7. Hello,
As someone Canadian born who emigrated to the US almost 30 years ago, I read Freed’s article with amusement and with full understanding of the debilitating cognitive dissonance he must grapple with daily.

Florida has been “open” since the beginning. At the beginning of the mandates, companies like Costco and Walmart, in our tiny corner of Florida, tried to enforce the mask mandates and people just stopped shopping there except for the NY&NJ transplants and other “True Believers”. Schools have remained opened.

Personally, I have known of only (2) people who were listed as having died from COVID. Both were older, with multiple co-morbidities. Their deaths have now been recategorized to no longer reflect “COVID” as the cause of death. So, I, personally, know no one who officially died solely of “Covid”. I know many people who got a really bad case of whatever seasonal krud is circulating, just like every year.

Freed also failed to consider that Florida has a much higher percentage of the extreme elderly than Quebec, especially in the more southern parts of the state, which contributes significantly to the mortality numbers. Florida hasn’t earned the tongue-in-cheek moniker of “God’s Waiting Room” for nothing.

When I ask the screechers on Twitter to give me the data comparing deaths due to flu and secondary infections like pneumonia over the past 10 years to the alleged deaths due to COVID, they don’t respond/acknowledge and then mute or block me. So much for wanting a “discussion” on the issue. This is emotion and the new religion. The Covidians are resolute in their beliefs.

    1. FC. It is the flu and the death rate is about the same, IFR of .26%.
Insane people have a real problem with reality.

  8. I’m pretty certain everyone’s results would have been the same if we did nothing at all.
Either way, IFR’s are dropping faster than FIFA players. Well below 2.0 and will continue to below 1.0 which is FLU territory. Millions of children are suffering and will eternally, thanks medical community.

  9. At the peak of the “Omicron” wave in Florida (Jan 13, 2021), the seven day moving average of deaths in Florida was 76, or 3.54 per million. Currently, Florida has a seven day moving average of deaths of 12 or .56 per million.….and currently for Quebec is 79 or 9.31 per million…..which is SEVENTEEN TIMES HIGHER than that of Florida.

And if you look at the peak deaths in Florida (Jan 13, 2021) against the peak in Quebec (which now appears to be probably at its peak), the Quebec deaths per million are still THREE times higher than the Florida peak.

Quebec as usual is screwing everything up.

    1. VOWG,
I don’t know what “FC” means, but yes, the “flu” magickly disappeared when they were hyping the “COVID” fear.

On Twitter, someone was hyperventilating that “15 people had died” , allegedly from COVID in that province that month, and that the government “needed to do something!”

Common sense, for far too many people, left the building a long time ago.

    2. Art,
Those numbers will be revised. It is now being openly admitted that most of the “COVID” deaths were categorized as such because of the huge federal subsidies through CMS to hospitals who (a) administered COVID tests (b) found “positives” (on a PCR cranked up to eleventy), (c) prescribed Remdesivir (which nurses have nicknamed, “Run, death is near” because it destroys the kidneys) and (d) labelled deaths as “COVID”.

If you came into ER with a fatal head injury due to a motorcycle accident, and their fake PCR test found you “positive” for COVID, and you died, you were categorized as a “COVID” death.

If you presented to the ER with a gunshot wound and died from your injuries and were found to be “positive” on a PCR COVID test, you were categorized as a “COVID” death.

Expect those “official” numbers to come down – WAAAAY down, as the work continues to evaluate deaths deemed “COVID”.

And, the vast majority of people in Florida who are currently hospitalized are “fully vaccinated”, including our neighbor who is a professor at the local college, and was coerced into the jab under duress to keep his job.

  10. In a free society like Florida you die, but often with friends and family there to say goodbye.

In Canada you must die alone.

In Quebec you also must die alone lying in your piss and shit, thirsty and abandoned.

  11. Freed doesn’t seem to understand the meaning of his own name. He’s not Freed, he’s Enslaved and bragging about it.

  12. I mentioned Quebec’s recent curfew, but they all just laughed, dismissing it as “Canadian communism.”

    ____________________________________

That made me laugh. I would pay good money to see this guy’s expression when that line was leveled on him.

  13. “My hunch is that there is some sizable number of deaths and hospitalizations that could have been prevented if we had given our third dose earlier,” Dr. Quoc Dinh Nguyen, a gerontologist at Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal, said in an interview Tuesday.

So the two shots didn’t prevent infection, hospitalization or death but the medical community has a hunch the third would have saved some sizable number.

Is this going to be like masks, pretending for two years they are effective? They’ll never let the lies about vaccine effectiveness stop. It’s not enough the CEO of Pfizer admitted they’re not working against Omicron? I’m asking stupid questions aren’t I?

  14. Did you catch the last 2 lines?
Seriously??!! He was most comfortable in the one place he was most likely to catch covid!!! What kind of idiot is he?

“But when we went for our free test at a pharmacy, there were a dozen people waiting, all wearing masks, the only place I’d seen that all week.
For the first time, it felt a bit like home.”

Hey moron! That’s because they thought they might have covid and were trying to protect you! We don’t wear masks to protect you from something we don’t have.

    1. Prior to this deliberate PsyOps, when did you ever hear of testing people who were asymptomatic, for anything?

The only time I have been tested for anything even though I was asymptomatic was for Strep, because one of my children has an extreme risk/sensitivity to strep infections, and had been hospitalized twice as a youngster for strep infections in his joints, requiring curettage under surgery and heavy doses of high test IV antibiotics. He will have to have a hip replacement in the near future as a young man because of the damage a strep induced infection caused in his hip joint as a first grader. Anytime there was strep in his community, they would test our family and put us all on prophylaxis antibiotics to protect HIM, because of his extraordinary high risk and medical history.

The fact that the majority of hospitalizations are for people “fully vaccinated” should give reasonable people cause, but it doesn’t.

For example, if people are “fully vaccinated” with the most up to date version of MMR, and begin to be hospitalized with life-threatening MMR infections, wouldn’t common sense dictate that people start asking if this vaccine is really safe and really offering the protection from MMR that its manufacturers and our public health overlords insist? Substitute “COVID” for “MMR” and the sheep insist the answer is, “Vax me harder, Daddy!”

  15. Curious if anyone actually read the Freed article from the Gazette before being gaslighted by this hit-piece from RedState.
There’s so much material out there from the lib-left media to carve up but this is an amateur effort from RedState and SDA shouldn’t have touched it.

    1. I did read it, Patrick. I read it first, just to see what the fuss was about.

Mr. Freed produced a bog-standard Canadian media column, praising socialized medicine and “reasonable” socialist controls on people. Such as curfews, mandatory testing, vaccine mandates and mandatory mask wearing. He also lied about the Florida Vs. Quebec case rates and fatality rates for COVID, once again a standard feature in Canadian media news pieces. This is all we see every single day in every Canadian media outlet, except places like The Rebel and Blacklocks.

The Red State piece pointed out his lying, his hyperbole, and mocked him for being a pearl-clutching twinkie.

I think they went easy on him. Freed is like one of the media mouth pieces from the Hunger Games. A pernicious liar and willing propagandist for fascists.

  16. People in Florida are going to the beach, playing golf, attending football games or baseball games, eating at restaurants, patronizing bars, and generally enjoying life.
People in Quebec are locked in their cold, damp, basements.
It doesn’t matter if their death rates are similar. People in Quebec have no life.

  17. At 1.17 deaths per hundred, Florida’s case fatality rate over the full course of the pandemic is 2/3rds that of Quebec’s (1.54).

Actually, while 1.54 is approximately one-third more than 1.17, 1.17 is approximately three-quarters of 1.54.

  18. Cases shmases, who died (should be correcting for those who died of asymptomatic covid)? The rubber meets the road at deaths.

In some respects these are apples to oranges comparisons due to differences in demographics, urbanization and statist overreach.

For the entire pandemic end-it emic to date: (source NY Times, reliable data here which btw correlates to that presented above):

Quebec: 158 deaths per 100,000 population iow .158% of the population to go along with nearly 99% “recovery” rates shown above.
That is roughly double Canada as a whole, IOW Quebec is the national hotspot. My BC is one-third of Quebec and 2/3 national rate.

Florida: 298 deaths per 100,000 population iow .298% of the population to go along with nearly 99% “recovery” rates shown above.
That is above the USA rate of .264/ deaths/100k. Recent trends reveal Florida’s daily death rate at half the USA.

How’s Quebec doing you ask? Last 14 days nearly three times the national daily death rate of .24/100k, la belle Province at .69/100k.
Well that justifies shutting down not just Quebec, but the rest of the nation. Anecdotal: know lady who had covid. 2 weeks bad flu, done.

Our propaganda prime malevolent minister can try and vilify questioning such reality with his own prejudicial assumptions and worst instincts, by virtue of his father’s arrogance and mother’s intellect, with both their detached ignorance, but this is rolling downhill to Ottawa.

Hoping it peters out at the Manitoba/Ontario border is a fool’s errand, but then again that is what the LPC and their moribund PM do.
