An optometrist diagnosed retina detachment on Tuesday morning, I knew there was a problem. Confirmed by retina specialist later that day.
Had surgery today by same retina specialist, who did other eye in 2004.

I wish you well. A guy in my church had that surgery yesterday. The recovery period is not fun, as I understand it.
Of course, that type of surgery is privately run, not under the direct control of public health. Had the procedure been provided by the province, you’d be lucky to get it done by Christmas.
This is one example among a multitude of the multi tiered health system in Canada. But Canadians persist in the myth of having a wonderful health system.

What you measure is what you get. And what gets measured gets managed, even if it is pointless or even harmful.
I’ve said this many times: “When the government goes to war with a number, bad things are going to happen.” I see this over and over. It starts with “number of cyclist head injuries” that leads to “everyone must wear a bike helmet” and progresses to what we just endured over the last two years, “number of covid cases.”
But immunity levels are top of my mind because my family all just got covid together. We all got symptoms and tested positive within a few days of eachother. All recovered in less than 3 days. Big bad covid. That was seven people, all of whom would describe it as a very mild cold. For that we’ve had our lives destroyed for two years. But here’s our idiot government’s position on immunity from prior infection:

And they followed that up with this little gem:
“Vaccination remains the best long-term protection against COVID-19. Even if you have contracted COVID-19, you should be vaccinated as it provides superior and lasting protection compared to the immune response generated after infection alone. The strength and longevity of natural immunity is not yet well established compared to vaccine immunity and the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine in previously infected patients has been well established.”
Every statement in the above paragraph is incorrect. But that’s our government’s, or rather that’s the unelected chief medical hoity toity’s opinion on prior infection. It basically counts for nothing. Why? Oh it’s super duper complicated to prove you’ve had covid, doncha know. It’s surely not as simple as providing the results of a PCR test (gee.. do you think they know something about positive PCR tests that they aren’t saying?). And so now I’m back in the position where I and my family are one edict away from being personas not gratas… again.

You’re personal experience doesn’t mean much. People still end up in hospital due to COVID. And yes, the vaccine does seem to reduce the severity of symptoms.

I went to the doctor about some stubborn fluid in my ear. While there I mentioned I had tested positive over the holidays.
He wanted me to run through my entire family, if they got it, how bad and what their vaccine status was.
He then went on to say “ If you are considering getting the vaccine, you don’t need to now, you have natural immunity.”
I know for a fact his medical clinic partners are still robotically telling everyone to get the vaccine, get the vaccine, get the vaccine.
Some doctors are opening up the hatch to the medical education centre of their brain again.
Bureaucrats can measure and report how many vaccines have been delivered.
You can see with your own eyes the ‘mask required’ signs and how many people are wearing masks.
These are indicators that the gummint is Doing Something.
