34 Replies to “School Gets New Name Because Of Genocide Or Something”

    1. Appropriate that they’d choose (another) unpronounceable name. I don’t know how they manage at all, given they had (have) no written language. But they’re happy to use their version of English. Isn’t that cultural appropriation?

  1. To be fair, “Erin Elmhurst” should be removed as superintendent and replaced with someone from Anishinaabe First Nation because she does not align with the emerging agenda.

“DDSB superintendent Erin Elmhurst says the school naming committee felt Sir John A. Macdonald “did not align” with the board’s policy on school names.”

Every cloud does have its silver lining, however as the Julie Payette Public School in Whitby is also to be renamed due to “Payette’s resignation as governor general amid bullying allegations”.

    Go Turtles!

    1. How long before your schools host mandatory sweat-lodge sessions for all K-12 students? To get kids “right” with the Great Turtle?

Oops … sorry, I meant to say naked same-sex, two-spirit, sweat-lodge sessions (see story above).

    1. the preferred proposal was to rename it after the community it was in, but the board in their infinite wisdom named it after someone with no connection to the area or school

    2. Steve h – Because that makes sense and is logical. The woke crowd doesn`t want that, you can`t get virtue signal points that way. As an example, Edmonton had numbered wards for as long as I can remembers (over 50 years), but prior to last Oct elections, changed them all to First Nation gobbledygook. No one was asking to name the wards, numbers worked, but it was done anyway.

  2. Got invited to dinner last night by a local rancher. He has a prominent picture of Sir John A. MacDonald proudly displayed in the dining room. One of his distant relatives served in MacDonald’s government.

  3. “Worked on water protection”….
Another bunch of stupid people that have no clue about water. I have relatives in on that…..
Water cannot be “consumed”, it can only be “used”. What goes into your house also goes back out to where it came from. Running water through hydro turbines or making it into steam first does NOT hurt the water. Water is one of the easiest things to clean, boil and condense, the impurities stay behind. Oxygenate it as done in nature as it flows over rapids and waterfalls kills germs in it. Readily available in solid, liquid, and gas, can hold great quantities of heat, making it a most useful industrial tool, in addition to it’s life giving qualities.

  4. They renamed most our creeks and streams around here as well and all in the five syllable range that no one can pronounce nor care too. Most people give it a “Whatever…if that’s what it takes so they don’t get the sadz.”
If you’re from Wales you’d feel right at home.

  5. I hope I live long enough to see the demographics in Canada change so that the legislators and bureaucrats are all from groups that are less guilt ridden. The identity groups currently riding high on wokeness will be in for a rude, sudden, and brutal surprise. They might even have to redefine “genocide” to something like “oh shit, it’s really happening to us this time”.

  6. Another check on the long list of attacks against Canada endorsed by Juthtin and the Libranos, made by weirdo women and allowed by gelded men.

  7. “Welcome to big BM Public School, where what your kids will be taught is a load of …. !”

  8. I look forward to the day we abandon the evils of taxonomy and scientific names using those racist white bastards like “nobleman” Carl Linnaeus and those equally white supremacist greeks as some sort of authority.
Then we can rename everything as if toddlers had named them, like the Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) to WaWa, because that’s the sound they make.

Canada has 630 first nation communities for 50 first nations.
Just to get your head around the scale, Canada has 1200 hospitals.

We can go back to our noble savages superior culture of endless warfare, raiding, genocide and slavery to decide which of the 50 first nation languages get to rename everything.

  9. I like how the institutional left regard democracy. It’s good enough for getting themselves elected but apparently to be ignored when it goes against their pathological desire to control how others live their lives or how they express their virtue signaling. The progressive left in Canada, including what passes for a federal Conservative party, is in Stockholm syndrome when it comes to appeasing the Indian industry. Renaming every historical reference in the deranged dominion to some Indian name (along with endless acknowledgements) only serves to strengthen apartheid while hastening the time when a racial backlash will inevitably result. The Orwellian word reconciliation is constantly used as some kind of end game of the identity politics-obsessed politicos as they ensure outcomes that bifurcate Canada on a purely racial and partial racial continuum.

    1. Leftists like getting elected. It has the appearance of legitimacy. They shut down elections right after.
If they cannot get elected, or make the mistake of having one and get dumped, they have a violent bloody revolution. The end game is then in totalitarian power.

Lenin had and election after the revolution. The Bolsheviks were rejected. He turned around and revolted again with the election winners eliminated.

  10. I wonder if I’ll be charged with child abuse for gifting my
youngest a copy of The Last Spike?

    1. Funny you should mention ‘The Last Spike’ as I’m in the middle of reading ‘The National Dream’ and ‘TLS’ to follow. I read them both about 50 yrs ago and am enjoying the reread immensely.

Pierre Berton was a Nationalist and a pragmatist in my opinion …very interesting fellow possessing a very organized mind along with a good dose of wry humour.

He would be quite dismayed at the sorry state of affairs Canada has fallen into.

      1. Burton is not considered a serious historian. More a pop historian. But to give him his due, he got Canadians interested in their history and that’s a good thing.

        1. Pretty friggin hard wading through a book written by a serious historian. Good for putting you to sleep at night, and also good for elevating your computer monitor. But entertaining? No.

  11. Inventing a country versus water protection.

A familiar name versus a name no one has heard of or can say.

Any parent who sends his or her kid to this school or a school like it is part of the problem.

  12. It’s tied in with the agenda to destroy the country. Want to demoralize a people? Destroy their heroes. I am so ashamed of Canadians today who have no appreciation for the country they inherited. They are not going after McDonald because of the residential schools. They are going after him because he is a Canadian icon. Truly sad what has happened to our once great country.

  13. The thing is, as much as I hate what the progressives are doing to our Canadian culture, i have no problem with our local Sechelt Band individuals. The ones i know are decent, friendly, and generous. They’re not the ones jamming this crap down our throats. They were as surprised as anyone when the changed names signs started going up. I may be wrong but i don’t think they were even consulted.
I may be in the minority here, but I’ve never personally met an ‘Indian’ (N.A. variety) who i disliked*…unlike a LOT of my White counterparts.
(*I’m sure there are a bunch down on Hastings St. that I’d rather not engage with)

  14. Anyone willing to cancel a founder of the country for such a frivolous reason should not then be surprised with the train wreck of a society they will ultimately be left with.

  15. I went to Sir John A Public School in Pickering as did all 4 of my sisters. Like trying to call Hwy 401 the McDonald Cartier freeway, absolutely nobody will use the new woke name for this school. What a bunch of morons these wokesters are.

  16. I’m late to the party here but……. Did they name the school after a native elder that advocates for water?

Didn’t anyone there notice that there are significant First Nations without clean water already into Justin’s third term? She really sucks at her advocacy

  17. Looks like 68% ought to be working to get rid of the 7 members of the school board that asked them their opinion and then summarily disregarded it. While the name of the school might be a small issue, what other parental ideas are they disregarding. I hope but doubt they’ll find themselves unelected.
