He Admires Their Basic Propaganda Machine

As the country’s shipbuilding strategy continues to pile up billions of dollars in extra costs to taxpayers, Public Services and Procurement Canada is quietly seeking what it calls influencers to push out social media messages that the program is a success.

The federal government’s National Shipbuilding Strategy, which will see the construction of new vessels for the Canadian navy and coast guard, has skyrocketed in cost and various projects are facing delays expected to further drive up the price tag.

“We are asking for your help in promoting the values, benefits and impacts of the Strategy by amplifying our campaign messages on your social media channels and throughout your networks,” the Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) recruitment document for social media influencers noted.

Consider it amplified, you dumb socksuckers.

  1. More and more like China everyday… a french speaking China.
Government sponsored propaganda… how much more corrupt can the country get ?

    1. The country, or more specifically the government and its trough buddies of all sorts, is more corrupt than many people realize.
But that ain’t a new phenomenon….we just see it more, thanks to sites like this and other venues not bought and controlled.

    2. This IS the Chinese CP’s MO – check out LaoWhy and SerpentZA’s YouTube channels for the run-down on how the CCP hires foreign “influencers” to tout the superiority of Chinese society online.

  2. We do need the ships. So there is that. I also feel we have chosen the right parent design. Plus the upgrades are the right one too. The T-26 will be the base of 32 ships for the RN, RAN and the RCN. The spec on the RCN ships are good:
    2 × quad box launchers:
    8 × Naval Strike Missile[2]
    2 × 3-cell ExLS:
    24 × Sea Ceptor (CAMM) CIADS, quad-packed[6]
    1 × 32-cell Mk 41 VLS:
    RIM-162 ESSM Block II[7]
    RIM-66 SM-2 Block IIIC[8]
    BGM-109 Tomahawk
    Torpedoes
    2 × twin 324 mm (13 in) torpedo tubes (auto-loaded):
    Mk 54 MAKO torpedo
    Guns
    1 × Leonardo OTO 127 mm (5 in)/64 LW Vulcano naval gun[9]
    2 × BAE 30 mm (1.2 in) autocannons
    6 × 12.7 mm (0.50 in) M2 machine guns
    Aircraft carried
    Helicopters
    1 × CH-148 Cyclone armed with:
    2 × Mk 54 MAKO Torpedo
    1 × C6 FLEX 7.62 mm (0.300 in) GPMG
    Plus multi mission bay
    AEGIS system library
    CMS 330
So its a small destroyer in all reality. I just wish they would build them sooner.

Now on the point of influencers and the like that is just stupid. They should just stay quiet about this or unless the mission is to tank the building of warships. That I would believe from this government. More people see the price and will put a call for it to end. Which would be ok by Trudeau.

I hate that government even advertises anything.

One more point the cost number used is the price of everything, building, buying the ship and weapon systems plus the project office, fuel for 20 years, training, the building of docks, the whole thing. It would be like buying your car with the gas, insurance, repairs and garage in the list price.

    1. Has any other navy bought or built this class of ship? Are there any currently in service anywhere in the world?
Or are we too special to use proven technology (PS has anyone else bought a Cormorant helicopter)

      1. In this case yes. The T26 is being built for the RN, RAN, and RCN. It will be one of the largest class of ships being built in world. Outside of the US or China.

    2. Holy crap man, that armament’s so aggressive. Who are we going up against with all that? The Danes over that arctic island? Protesters, foreign fishers, CSL?
They better be hybrid too eh, and with multi- heads for the alphabet crowd.
The procurement office is run by a buncha hosers outta their basements.

      1. Maybe you should download and read the Canadian Defence Policy. Short read really, and it will let you know why we need all this stuff.

    3. Spenc, are you an influencer or did you stay at the Holiday Inn Express?

Your approach leads one to think you have a dog in this fight.

      1. No just a passing interest in things Navy. No dog in this fight at all. Just a Canadian. The part to keep an eye on is that that the shipbuilder is Halifax Shipbuilding part of the Irving empire. They are going to make bank on this. That being said I do believe we have picked the right hull and weapon systems. Yes in a perfect world I love to see the RCN get a US Burke or even Maya from the Japanese. But I think in case it was the right choice. We could have had a FREMM but it was the French side selling to Canada so glad we don’t go that way. Take a look at the RAN sub deal with yhe French. Yes the USN are buying a FREMM too but the Italian side is selling them to the Americans.

  3. The best example of canaduhn ship-building were the BC “fast” ferries where every woke idea was adopted including training lesbian first grifters to be aluminum welders, the programme was a complete disaster and ended with the ferries sold off as scrap for 10¢ on the dollar. Recent procurements by BC ferries have been from Romanian shipyards https://electricautonomy.ca/2021/09/11/bc-ferries-new-hybrid-electric-vessels/
they were cheaper, delivered on time and seem to work (three criteria that fast ferries and coast-guard vessels could not meet).

The entire ship-building industry in canaduh are owned and operated by libranos who see contracts as a means to circulate funds back to the librano party and politicians. BTW whatever happened to our fabulous submarine programme?

    Hi Brenda Lucki.https://tnc.news/2022/01/12/rcmp-commissioner-wants-canadians-to-report-anti-authority-internet-opinions/

    1. Thanks for that link Justinflation. They’re gonna root us all out. Friggin RCMP. Putting the state back in police state. And people wonder why I get so pissed off when I see stories like this kind of overreach happening everyday.

And… Shipbuilding budget overruns of that magnitude can only be criminal. Those numbers are staggering.

    2. “…$70,000 fines or house arrest for Internet users suspected of making legal but offensive posts “that involve detestation or vilification” of identifiable groups. ”

Oh you mean like those mysoginist and racist anti-vaxers?

  4. I noticed that in the protestations for supportive messaging not one mention of a stronger national defence capability.
Oh I forgot, this is a Trudeau government and that whole military capability is just not part of the program.
After all the military’s job is protecting the country not the government and that is completely out of line with the current PMO.

  5. People, people, you are forgetting how politics works here in The People’s Paradise.
The only question is really just how many Liberal crony bureaucrats can we hire per ship?
The more, the merrier, and if it takes a century to build the ships, well then, we’ll just elevate the cronies into a new ministry. Its win/win.
    Duh.

  6. It’s just a communist make work project paid for with fake printed money.
“We pretend to work and they pretend to pay us.”

  7. While 12 sleek ships is always welcome, I’m not sure that they’ll be enough. Other navies are exploring small autonomous vessels: cheap, plentiful, and expendable relative to a frigate. Sort of like drones for the high seas.

  8. Communist Russia only dreamed of having ‘influencers’ scattered everywhere. All they had was Pravda.

    1. PSPC’s policies are making the defence policy impossible to implement. And you’re right about those goddammed Brownings.

  9. I am not surprised to read this. As a Naval Officer I worked in Naval requirements at NDHQ for over 12 years. Canadians would be shocked if they knew of the waste and the incompetence of the national military procurement process…all run by civilians and particularly French Canadian government employees. The military Officers had no say and no decision making priveledges. Civilians designed our warships. Result? the Canadian Patrol Frigate, which is the laughing stock of NATO. An ugly warship indeed or the Maritime Coastal Defense Vessel, which has a maximum speed of 15 knots. Yes, the drug runners are running way from that one, you can be sure, and laughing as they high tail over the horizon.

We had warehouses filled with French language manuals that were still package wrapped as nobody…nobody…read them. But by law everything had to be translated. For example: “The Harpoon Missile System” manual had to be translated at great expense to” Le Harpoon Missile System.” and on and on it went. The Defense Project Management System oversight manual was a compendium of eight volumes that was designed in such a way that money was not supposed to be spent. For every one step forward there were three steps back. It was designed and drafted by a French Canadian evil genius. And do not kid yourselves. The French run Canada. They always have and they always will. And that contributes to massive cost overruns as the additional money somehow finds its way into… the ether. Sad.

  10. Ever increasing cost is a feature not a bug.
Enriching well connected Liberal Parasite,is the sole purpose our politicians have for our troops.
This is the country that cannot operate an icebreaker in the High Arctic,if you care to recall, some years back we lost the chopper pilot and captain from our Premium Icebreaker, they died of exposure cause we do not carry any backup rescue equipment on our glorious Coastguard.
Our “premium Icebreaker” that we cannot refuel in the ice..
    Cause we are Canadian

  11. Maverick friends…Maverick.

Nothing else will correct this clusterf*ck.

Never trust a pol from the eaat.
    Peoples Party….LMAO!
    Like that would help.

  12. Hey here is an idea. Instead of spending (wasting) all those $$ for domestically built vessels why not procure a Ranger style Tikka 308 rifle and a thousand rounds of ammo to every willing Canadian at a fraction of the cost?

Let’s be real. We do need new equipment. It’s always too late and too old by the time we (armed forces) get it. It seems when a move is made by defense spenders it becomes a cluster fouck of mismanagement, delay and over budget. Let’s all agree massive lining of political party pockets and the friends of political operatives is baked into the cake.

I’ll even bet Maggie Turdeau gets a cut along the line somewhere.

      1. D B – we can and must arm only the conservative libertarians! After all, they are the only reasonable types here in this Con-federation. We have been paying the bills all along as well so we may as well take on that small duty.
Concealed carry should make for much more polite society.
        Regards!
