  1. I’m a little disappointed in Djokovic for not putting up more of a fight. I would have just left and not gone through the phony process of their little kangaroo court.

    1. He fought about as much as he could, more than many others could.
He’s not a citizen and Aus has long term, anti-foreigner policies.
Australia is a socialist NAZI state. Let’s get used to it.
It’s not the Aus of the 70s or 80s.
      Neither is Canaderp……..
Aus was on my bucket list, but it has a nice big thick line crossing it off. When/if possible, I would rather go to Russia.

  2. Whoever wins the Australian “open” will have an asterisk * behind their name. If they don’t just cancel the event and send everyone home. There should also be some boycotts by other players who quit and leave the country in solidarity that they will not get the chance to beat the best. They will always be questions if the winner is really the winner when the number one player is out by government dictate not losing on the court.

  3. “Today’s ruling will decide if Australia is still a free democratic society.”

Oh, that was already decided at least a year ago.

  4. False……stop with the thought crime BS.

Australia requires vaccination to enter the country. The other players are vaccinated and will play in the Australian Open.

    Djokovic was not vaccinated.

He is not bigger than the rules and is a disgrace to the tennis community.

    1. Right, because everyone is obligated to allow a foreign substance be injected into their body. Seig Heil!

    2. Except that he communicated, in advance, with both the tournament and the state government, that he had recently recovered from Covid just last month, and applied for and received a medical exemption on that basis.

But since Australia is loony tunes, and the feds couldn’t allow anyone to escape their “vax or ELSE!” narrative, they ran him out on a rail and will pat themselves on the backs for doing so.

    3. Prairie Girl…you are not allowed to post if your opinion does not conform to the opinions here or they will call you a Nazi…just like the extreme Left.

      …just an FYI

    4. Prairie Girl and Billly,
Laws, follow them blindly @ your peril. History is a wonderful teacher.

“ . . . the government imposed new restrictions on Jews remaining in Germany. One of the first wartime ordinances imposed a strict curfew on Jewish individuals and prohibited Jews from entering designated areas in many German cities. Once a general food rationing began, Jews received reduced rations; further decrees limited the time periods in which Jews could purchase food and other supplies and restricted access to certain stores, with the result that Jewish households often faced shortages of the most basic essentials.

German authorities also demanded that Jews relinquish property “essential to the war effort” such as radios, cameras, bicycles, electrical appliances, and other valuables, to local officials. In September 1941, a decree prohibited Jews from using public transportation. In the same month came the notorious edict requiring Jews over the age of six to wear the yellow Jewish Star (Magen David) on their outermost garment. While ghettos were generally not established in Germany, strict residence regulations forced Jews to live in designated areas of German cities, concentrating them in “Jewish houses” (“Judenhäuser”). German authorities issued ordinances requiring Jews fit for work to perform compulsory forced labor.”

“In early 1943, as German authorities implemented the last major deportations of German Jews to Theresienstadt or Auschwitz, German justice authorities enacted a mass of laws and ordinances legitimizing the Reich’s seizure of their remaining property and regulating its distribution among the German population. The persecution of Jews by legal decree ended with a July 1943 ordinance removing Jews entirely from the protection of German law and placing them under the direct jurisdiction of the Reich Security Main Office”

      This was all done LEGALLY.

Are you really unable to see the parallels, with vaccine mandates, vaccine passports and divisive rhetoric surrounding PRIVATE medical status?

      Compliance is NOT a virtue.

      1. My point was not what she said but how SDA contributors react to thoughts that are different than theirs.

        1. Some with snark, others with allusions to “here’s why that’s a bad idea” and an attempt to educate the original poster about why the core of their case has been disasterous in the past. “Not allowed to post your opinion…” is blatently false because we’re commenting on it now. Actual supression of opinion is the topic at the header for this page. Layers of government disagreeing about “they meet the legal definition” versus “they are not in our one size fits all, they cannot come in” is egg on the face of a nation that is increasingly looking like a wannabe police state.

Remember that Anne Frank and her family were breaking the law by not turning themselves in. The neighbours that did turn them in were following the law.

Just because something is legal does not make it right.

        2. Billly,

“ Prairie Girl…you are not allowed to post if your opinion does not conform to the opinions here or they will call you a Nazi…just like the extreme Left.”

You do realize, that had, Prairie Girl really been “not allowed to post [her] opinion” there would have been no discussion, even from those who refute it? It is obvious that varying opinions are “allowed” here. All opinions, should stand up to scrutiny, in a free society?

What you accuse the SDA community of, is more akin to what has been taking place in our legacy media establishments the past 2 years, IMHO.

        3. “My point was not what she said but how SDA contributors react to thoughts that are different than theirs.”

          Poor Billy.
You now wish to control how we express ourselves?
Says more about you, than you apparently comprehend.
Both yourself and Prairie Girl come across a good little minions, willing to enforce any order.
          No matter how odious.
When you deny justice to others, you cannot demand it for yourself.
Especially when those you denied come knocking.

        4. Using condescending arrogant remarks is not presenting an alternative viewpoint. You miss the point completely.

    5. The government’s case wasn’t based on him being a health danger but for becoming a symbol of the antivaxx movement even if wasn’t promoting that wrongthink himself.

Twice in Sunday’s court hearing, the Australian government through its senior counsel Stephen Lloyd, SC, drew an analogy between Djokovic flogging cars, fancy watches and alligator T-shirts and promoting, through his mere presence here, a reckless message that might lead to more sickness, misery and ultimately, death.

“He has now become an icon for the anti-vaccination groups,” Mr Lloyd said. “People use high-level athletes to promote ideas and causes all the time. The applicant himself no doubt has many advertising arrangements with different clients. I am not saying this is advertising but his connection to a cause, whether he wants it or not, is still present.

“Rightly or wrongly, he is perceived to endorse an anti-vaccination view.″

    6. What is there about ‘“natural immunity” that you don’t understand?
Or are you a science-denier like the Australian Health Minister?

It is not about risk to public health – that has been ADMITTED.
It is because those in authority are afraid that a tennis player has more credibility on the subject than they do.

    7. Seig Heil PG
      “Orders ist orders” eh..??

Keep in mind ya little National Socialist, that those who pushed this kind of rhetoric in the 1930’s & 1940’s were all convicted of Crimes against Humanity and hung….for stating that little ditty…and complying with Relish..

      You DISGUST ME.

    8. Disgrace? That is your subjective opinion, but one thing it isn’t is suffering from chest pains.

Djokovic was INVITED to Australia by Vic Gov and Tennis Australia. They said it was fine.

They way you spread your comments he turned up covered in bling and said Talk to the Hand while attempting to stroll through immigration.

Djokovic is not the villain here. He. Was. Invited.

Also don’t expect this to just brush over.

    9. Good grief. Is it possible to be even more stupid than Prairie whatever. If all the other players are vaxed they must be protected from infection, according to your logic. Therefore the un vaxed are only a danger to themselves or other unvaxed.

  5. Or…
    1. You should obey the laws of a country you visit.
    2. Not lie on your Visa
    3. Not give an interview maskless after confirming you are sick.

    1. Northern Lass @northerness · 16h
Unbelievably, one of the Australian government lawyer’s main arguments is that Djokovic may become “an icon of free choice”. Exact words used. Oh my.

      1. andycanuck,

        “an icon of free choice”
Sadly, you can’t get much more dangerous than that these days. Funny how just a few short years ago “free choice” for all aspects of ones life, was considered integral to functioning Western Democracies?

  6. I listened to some of the proceedings.

The main grounds advanced by Nole’s lawyers was that the minister did not take into account all relevant information, including things like public unrest. This was easily demolished by the government lawyers as there was documentation of such. There was also a presumption that the minister had the power to overturn the ruling (and by extension, any ruling of his ministry) based on the presumption that he was taking the public interest in his capacity.

This is very similar to the judgement of the original suit brought by the Justice Center against Hinshaw… namely that the judge could only assume that Hinshaw was acting in the public interest.

So. Personally I think that his lawyers did him no favours by taking this approach.

We are in a bad position now where the Ministers have absolute power by claiming every action they take is for public safety or the public interest and there seems to be no check.

    1. Jimbo..

We have been in that position since Premiers and Cabinets have been using “Emergencies” that were not passed by Parliament, to break laws that were!

    2. Public safety goes under the Emergency Preparedness Act, which was pushed off the cliff the moment the plandemic was pretty much announced.

The Health Minister (Hinshaw) became the Grand PooBaa when she doesn’t even have the skills nor the authority to run a street level lemonade stand.

Millions of dollars have been spent by each provincial government to prepare and coordinate the 3 levels of government, businesses, infrastructure, transportation, health care, aviation etc in case of a pandemic, endemic, flooding, fires, landslides, earthquakes et el, so as to best delegate the resources and equipment necessary to facilitate the best case use and distribution of all things needed to help PEOPLE in harm’s way.

Instead we have maniacle health agencies withholding known and tested solutions to combat and stymee the spread and severity of what we are lead to believe is CV19. Now we are learning that HCQ and Ivermectin have actually been withheld and blocked from public access, even though they have been proven to be the BEST antidote available to the entire human race to maintain and combat the effects of the sickness.

Nuremberg 2 cannot be accelerated quickly enough to deal with the lies and restore balance back to the people.

  7. I was making a point that this should not be a political issue….despite what is happening in Australia.

IMO this is about character ……or lack thereof. Novak is making this about him and it has been disruptive to all tournament participants.

There is likely no other player that would support his position either.

    Go Rafa!

    1. So basically what you are saying is no freedom for one, therefore no freedom for all.

Dictators among us every day like you will fill internment camps for the unwashed simpletons unable to grasp your infinite wisdom.

Please never consider a political career. Helicopter rides are expensive.

    2. Novak was invited, immunized, and disclosed all, and the invitation stood.
He showed up, as per the invite, was then detained, interrogated, held in durance vile over his Christmas Day, then deported. But he’s making it “all about him.”
      You are a fucking idiot.

    3. Not a political issue?!

      HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!

      Wow.

      Pay attention.

Stairman Dan, Dictator for Life on Victoria, had been involved in a long term dick measuring contest with Gladys, the Premier of NSW over who could beat up the most old ladies for mask violations.

Then Gladys was forced to resign over corruption and her replacement almost overnight to throw out carrots to the NSW people.

This left Dan looking stupid so late last year he suddenly told his people that they had been very good and that as a reward they could look forward to the Boxing Day Test (Cricket) and the Australian Open (tennis), both of which are not only massive international sporting events, but massive cash cows to their respective bodies.

      Dan. Promised. Tennis.

So to get good tennis he and Tennis Australia needed the big names. aka – World Number One – or they would be forced to have second string players like Rafa who no one really likes. So they worked out a deal direct with Novak and invited him to Australia telling him that everything was fine.

POLITICAL MOVE by Dan. Cash move by Tennis Australia.

Now, for those playing at home Dan is of the Far Left Australian Labor Party (ALP).

Canberra and the Prime Minister are from the Centre Left Liberals. The Liberals and ALP are RIVALS.

Also Prime Fence Sitter back in 2020 decided to form the National Cabinet rather than make actual decisions. This allowed him to tell Australia that the reason millions of them were locked in their homes and beaten on the streets was cause that was a State Issue and nothing to do with him. The problem of his own creation was that having been given the ability to interrupt the way government in Australia works the Premiers weren’t giving this power back.

Prime example – Yes, Vic Gov and Tennis Australia had and still have NO POWER TO SET INTERNATIONAL BORDER RULES.

So Canberra saw a window to humiliate Dan by sending his prize recruit home by saying ‘We control the international borders, f.k you Victoria!’

Novak – who had been clearly told by Vic Gov and Tennis Australia that She’ll Be Right, Mate – was mildly upset and confused. He raised the issue LEGALLY and was LEGALLY told that he was allowed to stay. LEGALLY.

This made the Federal Government look REALLY STUPID, so they pulled rank using the excuse that he would encourage people to go Anti-Vax and that he made a mockery of all the people who the Australian governments – both State and Federal – had locked up. We can’t show favouritism and by the way that trip to Europe last year for COP was wonderful. Hope you liked my photos.

So they invented this ‘Public Interest’ charge to not only ensure that Vic Gov won, but also ensure that millions of Australians didn’t suddenly ask why they were still locked up when the media was now telling them that Omicron can be treated at home using over the counter cold and flu drugs and the Government has been telling the public to ONLY go get a test if you are actually showing symptoms.

Sorry, but if you think this isn’t about Politics you are not paying attention and/or desperately trying to spin this as a tennis thing to justify your little favourite hitter of green furry balls finally being able to win a tournment.

Do some research, Prairie. Covid is Politics.

    4. And you call us stupid.?
Or are you here to explain that “Words mean what ever I demand they do.”
Failure to understand your Statist Mumblings has nothing to do with you choice of word and presentation?
So what kind of “Issue” is rules for thee, but none for me,when practised by The State?
When politicians are tearing up the rules and breaking all the laws..”
It is not a political issue”.?

      You so smrt.

  8. They need totaly news leadership in Australia then the bunch of Nit-wits running them now

  9. New Age Fascism runs this country (I live in Oz) and it’s starting to become really chilling. Arguably the worst part is not the alliance of Big Government, Big Bureaucracy, Big Business etc against the little guy, but just how many Nazis there are amongst those same little guys. The toxic hatred spewed on most msm website articles on COVID, Djokovic, mandatory vaccines and all the rest is bloody terrifying. These lunatics live down the road, they live amongst us – they ARE us!

  10. Adellad, exactly. The same whenever anyone speaks of the genocides, ethnic cleansing, massacres, day to day torturing perpetrated around the world over decades. Saddam Hussein had iraqi’s torturing other iraqi’s for decades. Mugabe, Winnie Mandela had blacks killing other blacks, Pol Pot, Mao, Stalin, Hitler, all of them of every political stripe have used ‘normal’ people to carry out their crimes.
They do live amongst us, but they are not ‘US.
