Y2Kyoto: The Environment They Voted For

Schadenfrozen…

Cold-stricken Europe is drawing a flotilla of U.S. liquefied natural gas cargoes amid an energy crisis that has sent gas prices to record levels.

Facing a winter shortage and little relief from the continent’s main supplier Russia, natural gas in Northwest Europe is trading for about $57.54 per million British thermal units, up almost a third from a week earlier. That’s roughly $24 higher than Asian prices and more than 14 times higher than gas being sold on U.S. benchmark Henry Hub.

  1. Yup, and you’d think Germany with all their energy problems of late, most notably Russia slowing down the Gazprom NG flow to Europe would force them to do a rethink of their Green ambitions or at the very least shelve it until they get over the hump. Nein!!!!! In fact, they’re accelerating their phaseouts of coal and nuclear.

I’m beginning to think they really do want people freezing in the dark.

    1. “I’m beginning to think they really do want people freezing in the dark.”

Yes, until their “solution” of herding people into collective housing farms, where everyone gets a cubicle in a modern Soviet Style block-apt with heat provided by the State.

  2. If an independent western Canada had a pipeline to Churchill, we could be selling natural gas to Europe.

  3. What I find interesting is that Great Britain, France, northern Europe is really NOT that cold compared to Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and north of 60. I watch Coronation Street as I enjoy watching less than special people and their problems. They think that 10C is cold, Regina is expecting a Christmas high of -21C and a low of -27C.

    1. Mostly the Brown Wogs and Muslims complaining about the cold

Well, Motherfuckers, no one invited you to Europe

Oh, Well, that fat German Khunt don’t count

  4. “…$24 higher than Asian prices…”

    Chinese prices you mean.

Mission accomplished. The dragon eats his fill, the blue-eyed devils freeze in the dark.

  5. A manufactured crisis that will have citizens screaming to give up their personal rights & freedoms in exchange for government salvation. “Support socialism or we will all freeze to death.”

  6. Here is an interesting TED talk on why solar and wind energy won’t work. You have to be patient because the speaker goes through some crap to get to his conclusion – that solar and wind energy just won’t work. Nuclear energy is the only real way to decrease air pollution while satisfying energy demand.

  7. We are witnessing what happens when juvenile Eco nutter policies are implemented.
Trying to defy physics never lasts long.
The “market” bites back and hard.
