December 19, 2021: Reader Tips

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

In the spirit of Henry Livingston’s famous poem, this evening we learn about what not to do when being a roofer and a scientific experiment that proves how Santa can slide down a chimney.

Your tips of the past day are much appreciated!

  1. Well, the most liberal person in my extended family mentioned to my mother something to the effect that ‘they want us to die faster.’

I like her. But if people like her are waking up, western governments are in serious trouble.

    1. Britain too.

Triple & Double Vaccinated accounted for 4 in every 5 Covid-19 Deaths in England over the past month despite most vulnerable getting Booster in October

The latest figures published by the UK Health Security Agency show that the vaccinated population still accounted for 4 in every 5 Covid-19 deaths between 15 Nov and 12 Dec even though those who are deemed to be the most vulnerable to Covid-19 received their “booster” jab in September and October…

    1. Ezra’s twitter feed on this includes a classic put down of David Akin (bootlicker) by Sue Ann Levy.
Other journos have chimed in most in agreement that Trudeau’s thugs blew it big time.

    2. Assault is a crime. If they were told by Trudeau to assault Menzies, Trudeau is also guilty. Citizen’s arrests coming?

      1. To paraphrase a famous passage from Scripture, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

Certainly fits Dear Leader, now, doesn’t it? He will never be found guilty because he believes he’s incapable of doing wrong, and, if one values one’s livelihood, one would concur. Then again, that was probably how he was brought up.

  2. I stumbled upon this Quirks and Quarks episode today where CBC host Bob McDonald interviews evolutionary biologist Beth Shapiro (no relation to Ben Shapiro?). She said things that seemed to shake his world view a bit:

“Is our capacity to change and manipulate things somehow unnatural? I don’t think so. We are simply doing what evolution has made us able to do which is to meddle with other species around us which is to make them more efficiently do what we want them to do. Which means make our lives simpler, easier and richer.”
McDonald noted that when a disease or a predator “moves in that will change the environment, but we’re doing it intentionally” She shuts down his line of reasoning with “.the idea that we have intent is also something that evolved naturally”. Bob “Uh yes but …should we intervene or should we just stay out of it?”. Beth replies “I think we’ve actually gotten to the point where we don’t get to make that decision. It’s a little bit late.” “…we have to get more involved”. She gives the example of making black footed ferrets immune to the plague so they can eat large quantities of prairie dogs.

McDonald says “The public is already divided over things like genetically modified organisms in our food, that we’ve already introduced, and you’re suggesting…we push that biotechnology even further?”. She fires back “I am. Yes,… a lot of the objections that people have to genetically modified organisms for food are because of things that they have heard that aren’t necessarily true. We have a small number of very vocal people who are opposed to this technology, who are deliberately spreading misinformation about what these technologies can do.”
The CBC edited out the last bolded sentence above in the written transcript.

    1. I started listening to Q & Q in the late 1970s when Dr. Fruit Fly was still the host. I stopped a few years ago when it became Climate Change & Climate Change.

      1. BAD – Re: “stopped a few years ago when it became Climate Change & Climate Change”. I noticed the same thing. I listened a year or so ago and the guest biologist noted that “we now know that science also includes feelings” in reference to transgender science contortionists. In fact yesterday’s episode had an interview with a science philosophy professor regarding how to deal with science deniers like flat-earthers and climate-change deniers (he was recommending some form of verbal conversion-therapy using calm rationale), but they failed to mention biology deniers.

        1. That’s why, after belonging for 44 years, I didn’t renew my membership in the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The editorials and articles are similarly filled with such twaddle.

          1. BAD – Maybe they should rename themselves the American Association for the Regression of Science.
At least engineering societies stick with science, I think.

          2. At least engineering societies stick with science, I think.

Many of them have become woke as well, particularly as a result of the Lepine/Gharbi incident, as if the engineering profession was responsible for what happened that day.

One of the provincial professional associations I’m registered with keeps pushing for “inclusion” and “diversity”, so there are a lot of articles about Indians, women, and the alphabetties.

          3. Yes BADR, my FORMER association started the same thing this year, pushing all these Wokester seminars, including 2 mandatory sessions, that have to be done for the annual CPD points level to be reached.
Well, since in my current position, belonging to the ASTTBC is not a requirement and hasn’t been for many years, I’ve dropped them, and ceased paying fees Nov30. And yes, gave them a few pieces of my mind as well, that they should stick to science and technology. If they want to practice politics, they should join the NDP.
They even had the gall to phone me a week before Nov30th to remind me to pay my dues. I didn’t waste the opportunity, needless to say.
            Wokeness is pervasive and malignant.

          4. DanBC:

Now that I’ve got life membership in two of the provinces I’m registered in, I don’t have to worry about professional development hours, except for, maybe, an hour-long ethics course once a year.

But, yes, I, too, made my thoughts known about the attempts to indoctrinate me. I’m sure they weren’t appreciated.

  3. Good news!!!

It’s almost 5 AM. I’m having rum. I’ve killed less than 20 bottles in my life but suddenly understand why people love rum…the slow burn. Sadly, no booze in the New Year….

Friday, I had a lot of errands uptown in my small community. I jogged to the bank and home. And then I jogged to the church, back to the post office and then to the liquor store simply because the idea of jogging to the liquor store and jogging home with a bottle made me laugh.

Anyways, after showering, I went to No Frills, I went in with no mask. There is a LOT of fear porn on the news now. As I was jogging, I was counting people wearing masks outside and hit about 15. Small town. Anyways, I passed a couple, about 30 years old, the guy had his mask under his nose. They noticed me. I moved on and noticed the woman moved her mask under her nose than put it back. I waved at them friendly. She waved back. I walked over and told them I’ve been going without the mask for a couple of months and no one ever bothers me. I’m going to say medical exemption if they did, and I have a very nicely shaved head, which got a laugh. I told them I had neighbors, who with a baby and 2 other kids in tow who would still argue and want to talk with managers. And one day I saw my neighbor and the three kids in the store one day maskless. And that was pretty much it. Eastern Europeans rule…

I shopped and a minute or two later, both were without masks!!! I moved past them and lowly told them “I love you two!” which made the lady laugh. We checked out together, maskless. I think it’ll stick.

Lastly. The most liberal person in my life, Aunt Nancy, the “die with the ship”, double vaxxed with booster lady actually said to my elderly mother on the phone that “they want us to die faster.” Mom didn’t get the full context but Mom told her my aunt that she sounded like me. If Nancy is sounding like me, our leaders are dead.

    1. When you get Nancy to the gun range, I will believe that.
Seems you’re turning into one of those ” joggers ” /s.

      1. No one is going to shoot a gun or even wave one around in anger over vaccines or lockdowns in this country. Best we settle for less dramatic resistance.

        1. How less dramatic shall we be ?
Head in sand, azz in air dramatic ?

There is a favorite saying , I think from an old American President, ” People shouldn’t be afraid of their governments, Governments SHOULD be afraid of their people “.

          1. Yeah well, that saying works when majority of people do not support the government. The insidiousness of the Librano plan is that they replaced the people. The only hope is that the country to collapses and fractures. The sooner the better.

      2. Uncle Tom was a marine. They have tons of guns.
Dude created a gun range in their basement. Literally.
Target practice gun range in their basement….

        1. Now that’s simply badazz.
          Props to your Uncle Tom.
I’d love to practice along side him, pick up a few pointers.
Did he ever get your Aunt down there to shoot ?

    2. I finally get it!

      Masks are soothers/pacifiers for Liberals.

And who needs masks more than Liberal women?

  4. The Christmas story comes alive at the Sunday Toronto Star. Heartwarming full page interview with our saviour Dear Leader Justin The Magnificent. Star “journalist” wanders around the grounds of the winter palace with Justin, as they discuss how wonderful he is. They even brought up the subject of his daughter replacing him, when he gives up the throne sometime in the future.

    1. They even brought up the subject of his daughter replacing him, when he gives up the throne sometime in the future.

      A queen succeeding a queen…..

    1. Black will keep on believing that , right up until the cage door of the Kamp slams shut in his face.

Infuriating to say the least, same with Trump.
NOW is the time to STAND UP AND SAY SOMETHING , we lack leaders with balls of steel.

        1. Yes I am well aware of what he went through.
However , it took him to go through it before ” he came out older, wiser and less of a prig but more of a tiger. ”

It may be too late by then, cause this time he or us may not come out at all.
Too late to espouse wisdom learned.
He should learn from his hero Churchill , whom he wrote a book on, about being PROACTIVE and not reactive.

    2. Buddy – Great article. We can always dream. I noticed a comment in the replies to the article from another “Buddy” (Buddy Barton) which sums up the situation here in Canada:

Most Canadians believe in Central Planning by the half-witted bureaucracy directed by the Prime Moron himself.
      Justinflation
Its here and Blackface is responsible for it.

          1. Buddy – I had a suspicion but I didn’t want to infringe on your anonymity. You had the second most likes at 8:38 this morning. I can’t believe the NP would do that but am also not surprised. No freedom of speech in Canada. At least your comments will be archived here.

  5. I always knew the modelling was made up garbage but it is nice to read that it is.

    https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/my-twitter-conversation-with-the-chairman-of-the-sage-covid-modelling-committee

“Revealingly, he seemed to think my question odd: if it’s quite plausible that Omicron is mild and doesn’t threaten the NHS, what would be the point of including that as a ‘scenario’? He seemed to suggest that he has been given a very limited brief, and asked to churn out worse-case scenarios without being asked to comment on how plausible they are.”

    1. If you actually look at the use of mathematical models of natural systems you realize they really have no value other than creating null hypotheses ( theories to be tested). There are no answers coming from models, by definition they are not scientific investigation.
Once you try applying them to human societies…. Utter crap. There’s an old saying that also applies to models : garbage in, garbage out.

    1. “BC Health Nazi Oberfurher Bonnie Henry issues dictate.”

I thought she went by her maiden name, Bonnie Mengele.

    2. Oh, that’s gonna go over well in the Fort St. John area, at least with old-timers like me. The recent residents, many of them from Lotusland, would probably fall all over themselves to comply and may even rat on those who don’t.

  6. Ontario Court declares that the Ontario Math Proficiency Test is Unconstitutional

The Ontario Divisional Court has ruled that the Ontario College of Teachers shall grant certification to teacher candidates who have not yet passed the Math Proficiency Test but who have otherwise met all other teacher certification requirements.

The Divisional Court found that the Math Proficiency Test had an adverse impact on entry to the teaching profession for racialized teacher candidates and other reasonable alternatives should have been implemented.
    ________
x-Menticide: Is there an uglier word in the woke vocab than racialized. Sounds like getting turned into a newt and but not getting better.

    1. So the dumbass terrorists in black robes basically said non-whites can’t do math. The racism of low expectations is alive and well among our learned cretins with law degrees.
