Canada’s debt has surpassed a staggering trillion dollars. How did we get here? James Frazer provides a musical critique implicating Canada’s longest serving prime minister. You know, the man who took advice from his dead mother and his dogs all named Pat? Good ol’ Mackenzie King, arguably the politician who did more to steer this country’s fate when he built the foundations of our welfare state.

A shout out to Conrad Black’s Rise to Greatness: The History of Canada from the Vikings to the Present (which appropriately ends in 2014). Rather than cry about our ever growing share of the national debt, why not sing about its never-taught-in-school roots with Right Honourable Ghost.

  10. Like father like son. The Trudeau cult’s Sunday Toronto Star is calling for a national energy program just like Pierres. This time it would focus on making Canada rely on green energy scams. Since the Star is the official print mouthpiece of the Liberal Party, we can assume that Justin is getting us ready.

    1. Let’s kick off this green energy program by making newsprint illegal. Then we’ll move to junk mail. By the time we get to Western Canada, we’ll be dead!

  11. When I was in high school I remember watching the national news and it telling me the debt was $500B and worrying “How can the nation get out of this debt hole?” Then the feds introduced the GST and I breathed a sigh of relief.

    Seeing a logging business being decimated by government fines of a million dollars as it can’t work regular hours due to government interference in many of the hundreds of regulations and restrictions imposed.
    Welcome to Canada’s businesses…is it a wonder the banks are making record profits as they create currency and credit.
    Our new normal…as the media makes our politicians into idiots of just following their narrative without doing any research themselves.

  29. Not the catchiest tune but I loved it! James Fraser. I’m going to look him up. So yeah, 22 years of King, 16 years of PET and now the little pwince will rule forever. Everyone else was just minding the store, keeping the train on the track and mostly inconsequential. So it goes.

    Are there 38 million Canadians?
    How many actually pay taxes?
    What proportion of Government theft comes from Income tax?(Temporary since 1917)
    What share from GST? (Temporary until debt paid off .1984?)
    How much from taxes on fuel?
    (Supposedly for road maintenance or “Revenue neutral).
    Has any Political Party shown a plan?
    To curtail and pay down this massive theft from taxpayers and their “future children”?

    Venezuela awaits.
