Christmas Cancellations?

I’ve been seeing a number of stories coming from caterers and venues complaining about Christmas parties and events getting cancelled. What are SDA readers seeing out there?

62 Replies to “Christmas Cancellations?”

  1. We have a Scandinavian bash at our home every Christmas Eve; cancelled last year, not because I was scared, but because we figured no one would show. Facing the same dilemma this year- I’m completely non Covidian, but my wife is more, what shall I say, cautious, to be nice, than I am. We live in a college town ruled by the Monomaniacs, and although it’s not as bad as it was last year, we still have an indoor mask mandate, and you see a lot of the local dipshits all masked up- outside, riding their bikes, alone in their Preii and Teslas. The local BSU is allowing fans for hoops and, more importantly for me, hockey, although one has to wear a mask. I have a water bottle, so I’m always “eating and drinking”.

I think we’ll send out invites for Julafton and gage the response.

  2. My principled and unvaccinated son in law was just informed that he would not be allowed to come to the office Christmas party. He is devastated. Not.

    1. The opposite is also happening. My wife’s work party has been canceled because one person isn’t vaccinated.

        1. Not really. Venues will not allow unvaccinated people into their establishments and my wife’s coworkers don’t want to exclude anyone. They don’t really care if people are vaccinated or not.

          1. The level of stupid is astounding. no matter how many times or how many people point out that the vaxxes do not work, cannot work, can’t prevent infection, transmission, or death they prefer the insanity. Let em all die from vaxxes. Then the rest of us can get on with our lives.

    2. My daughter is an in-house event planner for a Law Firm with multiple offices on both coasts. Because of the whiny always troublesome LA office … they are doing a “virtual” Christmas, err Holiday Party across all offices.

The new normal is hardly anything built back better. It’s downright antisocial and antihuman.

      1. Kenji, you, as an articulate , intelligent man may recognize this quote. “Necessity is the plea for every infringement of/on human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves”.

        1. You give me FAR too much credit, my friend, for identifying quotes by William Pitt. Had to DuckDuckGo that one. But it IS a splendid quote, and I bow to your superior historic grounding. Oh to sit and chat with you … my IQ would expand – even after my recent 66th birthday.

Creed of slaves – indeed. Oops! Didn’t your CBC just BAN that word? “Slaves” … ? Of course missing the fact that ANYONE can be enslaved by ANYTHING … esp. warm, cozy, promises

  3. I haven’t been to a party or attended an event of any sort in two years. I have noted some of the people I know who have not been suckered into a vaccination are ostracized from their own families who live in mortal fear of a F*cking Flu that any reasonably health person can survive.

Yet our leaders continue the scare tactics and penalization of those smart enough to know these alleged vaccines are neither safe nor effective. How stupid can a population get to continue electing evil clowns to ‘rule’ us.

    1. The family has been vaxxed and can still get it and DIE from it well, maybe 0.26% might might, might. When the family is made up of clowns who the hell cares. Time to get tough.

  4. Here in Texas we’re pretty back to semi-normal. In hospitals and such, masks are usually required. If you’re wearing a mask outside those institutions, you’re pretty much looked upon as a dork.

  5. Here in Toronto the pro freedom party scene is going strong. Having to triage which events I go to. As for the Covidists, who cares? They’ve already chosen not to live.

  6. I am going to a client Christmas party on Monday. Since this is Ontario, masks and double-jab cert will be on full display. Even so, my aperitif will be 5000 IU of cholecalciferol, a multivitamin with zinc, and tablets of magnesium malate and chromium picolinate, all washed down with a tablespoon of hemp seed oil (CB2).

  7. Here on Vancouver Island the Santa Claus Parade in Courtenay is still a go for Sunday 5 December.

    1. Courtenay, the place with the mayor who advocates paying vaxxed people more and rides a bike around with a mask on? That’s surprising.

  8. Everythhing is pretty normal here in Indiana, and has been for months — except doctors’ offices and all medical facilities requiring masks (or face shields). Because the CDC says so. My opinion of most of the medical establishment has hit rock bottom. But at least there’s no vaccine mandate. And outpatient procedures & surgeries are proceeding as normal.
We have a number of social events at our church, and normal Sunday school, Bible studies, etc. And small group meetings in people’s homes.
We’re having our neighbors over for Christmas dinner. We’ve also been to concerts in the last months. And I do freelance musical work that’s going on as normal. Nobody talks about or asks if you’re “vaccinated.” Some of our friends are, a number are not.
Until 2-1/2 years ago we lived in a mayor blue state. SO glad I’m out of there. The governor is a tyrannical moron. Things are not good there. What’s amazing to me is that a number of our friends there seem to be buying into it. I wouldn’t have thought it….

    1. Where are you in Indiana? I used to visit friends in North Webster before that church got legalistic.

      1. Northwest — the northern part of the county is blue, and corrupt. The southern part, not. Forty miles from Chicago. Lots of Illinois folks moving here, also into my neighborhood. Fortunately, almost all I’ve met left IL because they’re conservative and were totally fed up. Not sure how true that is of Illinois movees on the whole.

    2. I left Illinois for a few days to visit Indiana and was thrilled to see the maskless crowds. Yay, Hoosiers !

  9. last year’s lockdowns and restrictions implemented by Nanny Moe never stopped me and mine from celebrating. I attended three Xmas gatherings over two days, multiple New Years eve and and New Years day celebrations and a couple rounds of late nights and day drinking in between. All at homes that didn’t belong to me and that I didn’t reside in.

Moe’s and Trudeau’s fascist covid edicts haven’t stopped anything except promote the black market. Instead of going to a licensed restaurant or bar to dine out and socialize, my crew and I gather in one of three or four barns/shops/garages where we drink, smoke, eat, and generally socialize without social distancing, masks, or vaccine mandates. And when we go take a piss outside, there isn’t typically running water or hand sanitizer and none of us have caught covid.

    1. Thor, Would you consider adopting me please? It appears you have a much spicier life than me, and I’m a little jealous 🙂

  10. I haven’t worried about staff Christmas parties for nearly 20 years. In my experience, most of the ones I attended to weren’t worth the effort, with the enforced cordiality and mandatory cheer that had to be extended to colleagues I didn’t particularly like.

However, the best Christmas bashes I attended were in Calgary in the late 1970s. I didn’t go to the party from my employer, but many of our suppliers held open houses or took us for lunch. Lots of good food and the booze flowed freely.

Grand times, they were. We shall not see their like again in my lifetime.

The closest I come to that now is a balcony decoration contest that’s behind held by the rental office of my apartment complex, the first time that’s been done. I guess if people are being forced to stay at home, they need something to do.

The best balcony decoration I saw was more than 20 years ago. Someone in an adjacent high-rise decked out the balcony with the word “Humbug”. For some reason, it didn’t stay there for very long.

    1. Did you hit the Stampede circuit? Spouse used to croon over the seafood that one supplier had at a party north of Bowness (other side of the river).

      1. Some of our suppliers treated us for lunch during Stampede, but nothing like what you described.

  11. there are a large number of DIE enthusiasts who have decided that Christmas is not sufficiently inclusive enough so they have changed it to “Holiday” parties/events …

of course, they don’t seem to notice that those likely to be offended by Christmas won’t attend anyway because of their prohibitions on alcohol…

  12. Waterloo Ontario – company party was last weekend, about 160 people. Theoretically had to have the jab but nobody checked. Masks only required from lobby to room, then no masks. No music or dancing, had a magician instead. Found a relatively new restaurant near the office with a big heated patio, covered, infrared heaters, and fine mesh screens on the sides. Very comfortable with outside temps at -2Cish. Going inside would have required vax passport.

  13. Here in BC, we are all awaiting Bonnie Henry’s soon-to-be-released plan.
She will instruct us on how many people we can gather with, where we can gather, what mask to wear, when we can get a cautionary booster before gathering, and how we should feel calm, kind, and safe.
I don’t know how I was able to conduct my life before she came along!

    1. People are being treated as SHEEPPLE. Covid is nothing but Control and we PEOPLE sheep are so stupid. Wait until they take away your FREEDOMS of speech, thought and to own anything as you know it is coming…..first up, hit bottom, then gov’t helps you out and that is when the Gov’t owns you. Totalitarianism…serf to the gov’t. Oligarchs of the world with all the money TELLING US what to do…stand and fight like a man or woman!

    2. Dr Bonnie can go eff herself. I’m celebrating Christmas the way I want to celebrate Christmas with whom I want to celebrate. Life is too short for this nonsense.

  14. Well, as horrible, terrible defiant purebloods, we missed everything last year with everyone else. This year, my work is still working remotely, but they are doing a zoom party…….ack, pass, I won’t be missed as it will be 100+ online.
For my wife, well, she’s on refirement right now, leave w/o pay, so No Party For You!
She gets texted frequently “How do I do this, where do I find that, what is that process?” She was the office admin chief, the glue of the office. She just reminds them that she is sorry, but, she’s on unpaid leave and therefore can’t assist.
Ideology, gotta love how stupid it is.
Anyways, we have both commented that as we approach and enter retirement, and reflect on the many retirement parties we attended int he past for former staffers, we will both be denied that rite of passage, due to Covidity and ideologically stupid, Hypochondriac, nannystate tyrants

    1. “She gets texted frequently “How do I do this, where do I find that, what is that process?””

Sounds like an excellent opportunity to open up a little boutique (as in, very lucrative) online consulting business. 😉

  15. Yea we cancelled Christmas as well, no one over to the house whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, no woke no progressives, and even no Red Pilled – Everyone can FO in peace………..it’s gonna be Merry indeed!!!!

    1. No one comes to my house except golf buddies and golf is over so I don’t give a fuck.

  16. My office party attendance requirements: No spouses allowed, same boring caterer. Must wear masks while standing. Vax passport requirement. Why bother? I cannot wait until someone asks why I’m not going. I will answer “I am not eligible. “

  17. Everyone I talk to, communicate with and know, is fed up and going ahead with parties, family and friends, and those who are afraid can stay home, but life has to move forward. You cannot comply your way out of tyranny.

    1. Comrade Dix and his psychopathic henchwoman Bonnie Shitler are imposing these lawless dictates knowing full well that there are no vaccines and that literally no one is “vaccinated”. You’ve either been injected with the bio weapon by Big Pharma and the fascist Government or you haven’t… there are no vaccines for the CCP virus.

    2. In my area, priests are reduced to handing out tickets for Christmas Masses. It is a seating arrangement and the tickets are free.

The priests are terrified of having the churches shut down again. Many people are.

  18. I skipped an office party this year because it was held at a facility that requires vaccines for entry. I think Calgary mandates that businesses must participate in the vaccine passport program, so Christmas events are mostly out, sadly for my young one. Zoolights and Heritage Park both demand vaccination for entry.

One place that has an activity for anyone is Spruce Meadows Christmas light display every weekend. In the past, you could get out and walk around looking at the lights, and go into a few indoor locations to get hot chocolate. Rather than excluding unvaccinated people, Spruce Meadows is just running this as a drive through event and anyone can attend. In fact, going to the Spruce Meadows webpage…you can’t even find the word Covid. Very refreshing.

The workplace is actually sending a Santa around to peoples houses to deliver presents to the little ones.

That and Christmas Mass are the only activities I can find for my little guy this year. If anyone knows of any “vax-free” family activities in the Calgary area, I’d love to hear about them.

  19. Meh,looking forward to Sol Invictus’s Birthday bash.
Damn shame the Globo Homo of Can Ahh Duh was spawned that same day but even Turds have to be dumped at some date.
Will be celebrating the longer days and earlier sun rise..
I wonder of the local Karens will mistake my fireworks for a terrorist attack?
Actually,if they are terrified of everything,is it possible to carry out a “terrorist attack” upon such?
For these long months of Dread Covid Theatre have shown how terrified of life these herd beasties be.
    Life!
    Guaranteed to kill us all.
    Oh the horror.

Eventually we will become so sick of these deathcult morons and their life phobia, that we will hunt them for sport.
    “Just call me Typhoid Johnny”.
Or was that the age old;”Kiss me honey, nothing makes me sick”?
Or start “Disease of the Day clubs.

This is the age of absurdity.
Where a carbon based Lifeform preaches the “Evil of Plantfood, the toxic Carbon Dioxide”.
While the so called intellectuals nod and applaud.
Where Government reacts in terror to a virus they helped create..Destroying civil society and wreaking massive economic destruction as their “cure”.
Where “The State” is proclaimed ruler and Saviour of all,as it imprisons and robs the individual citizen…
    Who is this “State”?
Nothing but individuals so weak, that they seek to submerge their identity into a greater body, from which they can wield power with zero accountability.
Serial wimps, misfits and followers…helping us in a “crisis”..
A crisis of their creation and incompetence..
    Forward!.

to me the “State” is a fiction, the individual barking the orders and the ones obeying those orders, those I hold responsible.
The only “State” is the delusion they share”.

  20. Last evening I went to a social event at a private home for an organization I am involved with. Many of us had never met each other before, so a lot of handshaking went on(only witnessed one elbow-bump) and the head count for the few hours I was there was about 20. I did not see one mask, even though I had one in my pocket in case of a woke host. It all seemed so normal, their home was beautifully decorated for Christmas, I thought nothing of it until someone nudged me and pointed it out.

This is in S. Central BC, and it was nice to experience some “normal” again, even if just for a little while.

BTW, where it wasn’t an Xmas party, the “Merry Christmases” flew like f-bombs at a construction site. Nary a Happy Holidays was uttered by anyone.

  21. Since I am living in the European Union, I don’t really care about Christmas this year but rather try to figure out how I can seriously GTFO of here in the very near future. I am even considering to go live in Erdogan’s Turkey for a while to escape the reactivated human experimentators, public health fanatics and corporate sponsored fascists in Germany. I am not really in the mood to celebrate anything with people who have no regard for my bodily autonomy and already make plans for the “final solution” of the dissident problem. For all I care they can put their Christmas trees where the sun doesn’t shine. The Christian churches themselves are more than ever (even more so than in the Third Reich and far more so than in the GDR) completely useless in this atrocity, they are fighting with institutional medicine, mainstream journalists and federal court judges about the role of the most graven henchmen of a totally derelict political class.

  22. This year we will celebrate Christmas with a mixture of pure-bloods and hybrids. I like to think Christmas is for family and especially the young kids, so plenty of presents – yes some Chinese-made crap probably. We shopped 100% online this year – first time ever and we loved it. I hate shopping. No masks, plenty of outdoor playing and dog walking.

  23. Funny… and scary… The “pandemic” is over ( if there ever was one ) and there are no “vaccines”… I pray that people figure it the F out, but I don’t hold out a lot of hope. The world, including this pathetic Post Nation State are ruled over by truly satanic Psychopaths…

I always said that for me there really isn’t a big difference between someone like Paul Bernardo and Juthtin Turdhole, both a couple of depraved psychopaths that woman think are super groovy. The real difference between these two pieces of excrement is that Juthtin has an army of enablers. The Media, the NDP, the Stool Party, the french speaking Blokshits, they’re all Juthtins, Karla Homolka… the Karla Cartel. They make sure Juthtins Basic Dictatorship rules unopposed.

  24. My best wishes to you Christian. I sincerely hope that your future involves freedom. The totalitarians have emerged all over Europe lately. So disheartening. And seriously, how in the actual f&#$ could they suggest the removal of the Nuremburg code? Absolutely stunning.

I see your current experience headed our way in Saskatchewan and I’m not really prepared for that reality yet although I hope it is averted. Every time I hear the word ‘mandate’ on the radio lately the hair on the back of my neck stands up.

In my own travails, my wife just informed me that her family has decided that I am allowed to attend Christmas if I get a rapid test beforehand. Owww… The stupid, it burns. I will likely comply as the fight won’t be worth it but I’ll be surprised if there’s much mention of covid while I’m there. Nobody is going to debate that subject with me around.

Of course, I could wear this…

  25. I just got back from the annual Calgary Austrian Canadian club Christmas bash. It was held, but it was pitiful.

It was in the afternoon instead of the evening, the hall was at 1/3 capacity, if that. The food was as good as could be expected for a small crowd, and there was none of the usual entertainment, displays and shows. There was a pretty good one man band, electro-keyboard and computer rhythm with the guy singing.

The whole thing was a pale shadow of past years.

But there was one good part – 99% of those there were ancient old crocks like me, most of them contemptuous of the government and and simply not believing the statist hype about the deadly horrible covid. An old friend of my dad was there, Leo, who is 98, and getting a bit vague. Even so, he was perfectly sharp about his right to go out and party at Christmas.

  26. Ahem:

“Premier François Legault says he would like to permit Quebec families to host up to 25 people for the Christmas holidays, but the opposition says the premier is sowing confusion and creating expectations.”

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/legault-covid-holidays-2021-easing-gathering-rules-1.6268571

“Quebec Premier François Legault has backtracked on his plan to allow gatherings over the Christmas holiday period after a rise in cases, hospitalizations and deaths.

Legault announced a “moral contract” last month whereby people would be allowed to gather in groups of 10 over a four-day period, from Dec. 24 through Dec. 27, if they isolated for a week before and after.

He later said people should only gather twice during that period.

On Thursday, Legault said that gatherings in the province’s hard-hit “red zones,” which take in most of the province, will be prohibited altogether over the holidays. ”

  27. As I write, a client is hosting a Christmas party chez lui. Was asked by a few of the staff if we were going and had to point out that we’re “contract” and not staff. Anyway, hope they’re having a really great time. That’s a hard-working group, and deserve a party.
