  1. I stopped reading at “Whatever prompted Marilyn Gladu to denounce herself, the problem posed by anti-vaxxers within the Conservative caucus won’t go away. At least two other MPs, Dean Allison and Leslyn Lewis, have publicly questioned the efficacy of the vaccine against COVID-19.”

      1. The moment you use a label, that is a lie and comparable to the lies used in facist Europe, pre world war two, a lie whose sole purpose is to scapegoat a certain segment of society, you promote that lie.
When you permit a lie to be used in ‘context’ you still promote that lie, so….no.

    1. Since the definition of vaccine is “a suspension of attenuated or killed microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, or rickettsiae), administered for prevention, amelioration, or treatment of infectious diseases.”, perhaps we can stop calling this a vaccine. You cannot insert a placebo and call it a vaccine and expect the same results. Anyone who refers to this as a vaccine without laughing, is devoid of intelligence and not worthy of rebuttal.

    2. OK…time for a BLAST To you all…(with a smile of course..LOL)

It should be patently OBVIOUS that this injection is NO VACCINE.
So lets STOP Calling it that…!! Ok.??
Using that terminology just plays into the hands of the Criminals in the Media/Govt/AHS et all and throughout the drone population.

My prosecution rests…..oh, and I will NEVER Send a Penny to those Traitors in the CPC.
PPC is the ONLY Conservative Party out there.

  2. I rejoined the Cons Party yesterday in case this comes down to a vote. NoTool begone, and I supported Lewis in the last leadership race, and perhaps that will be replayed,in which case she will win out as she should have.

    1. Since all Conservative Leadership conventions both federal and provincial are fixed, I doubt she has a chance.

    2. Leslyn Lewis is a plant, check out some of the boards she still sits on. If she was such a star why is she not running in Toronto where she is from and where she could take a seat from a liberal.

      1. Because a real Conservative could not get elected Dog Catcher anywhere near the so called Golden Horse Shoe that surrounds Toronto. She is an immigrant being brought here as a child but look at her academic qualifications, she is a very smart lady and when running for the party leadership was by far the best qualified candidate. Most immigrants in the Toronto area vote Liberal, that translates to 50 seats when the votes are counted. If we keep running candidates like Scheer and O Tool we will continue to come in second or maybe third on election day. The Conservative party needs to take a different tactic when it comes to real social and fiscal Conservatives like Bernier and Derrick Sloane, they should never have been ostracized like they were by the party unelected bosses.

  3. “Erin O’Toole would have been lionized as a political genius if he had defeated the Liberals by shifting to the left.”

The article doesn’t get any better after that.

O’toole shifted to the left because it looked like he just might win – so he needed to establish that he had a mandate to govern as a leftist just in case that transpired.

This was not a strategic effort to win the election. O’Toole willfully did all he could to lose it – and almost didn’t. His role is to allow Freeland to continue to implement the Soros/Schwab agenda, while pretending to fight it. Nothing but theatre for the LIVs

When Harper lost the media chased him out – and bolted the door shut. Even Scheer got chased out. Why no national media push to get rid of O’Toole – because you can be damn sure if a true social conservative was leader and came up this short, media would be arranging the firing squad.

I think its because O’Toole is, was and always will be a “Tool” of the left. Far simpler explanation than what Mr Harris offers up.

    1. I agree with most of your analysis except where you posit that O’Toole consciously tried to lose. I ascribe that to incompetence, blind ambition, and his total lack of judgement when it came to pleasing his media enemies. As long as he is seen as no threat to their leftist hegemony, he is their chosen CPC leader.

Where I take issue with the Hill Times author is in his speculation of O’Toole’s being considered a hero if his Liberal policy cut and paste strategy had resulted in victory. In victory, all institutional guns would have been aimed his way and all the failings of the Canadian state that will come to light within this next few years would have been blamed on some perverse definition of “conservativism”. Conservatism is already the most indefinable brand given it is nothing but a coalition of several more definitionally coherent brands, brands that had been exorcised by O’Toole and his choice of liberal policies. Any Conservative leader that can’t hold that coalition together is destined to become a loser.

    2. O’Fool could have possibly won had he had a more positive stance on Non Vaxxers

he could have possibly turned some of those 800,000 PPC votes

But alas, He is too much of a O’Tool

  4. The headline is correct, conservatives do not want to be liberals.
OTool’s issue is lack of principles & (clear) ideas.
I, and many others I suspect, will not vote CPC again unless and until it becomes at least somewhat conservative, with clear and consistent policies.

  5. I stopped reading when the Hill Times used the term “anti-vaccers” to describe anyone who questions the dogma. Otherwise, the author is correct in the assessment of O’Toole. I only retained my membership in the CPC so I could vote in a leadership review.

    1. As did I. According to this “award winning ” journalist, any questioning of the Covid narrative is tantamount to committing a cardinal sin.

  6. In today’s political world Conservatives can’t even be conservatives. The woke world isn’t interested in anything they have to say. During the time of crisis they didn’t have one idea that was acceptable. They stood on the sidelines and watched.

Pick any topic and conservatives are on the wrong side. Climate change, gun control, trade, the military or foreign affairs – in Canada conservatives are looking through the wrong end of the political telescope. Public opinion is against them. That is why a fool like the Bong can lead.

I don’t like this any more than anybody else here but at the present time conservative ideology isn’t selling. Maybe at some point in the future conservatism in Canada will come back in vogue but at the present nobody is looking to it for answers.

Survival of the species depends on adaptation.

    1. “Survival of the species depends on adaptation.”

True enough but eventually socialisim/communisim ends in machine guns and mass graves, so there is always the option of just waiting it out.

    2. Depressingly accurate. Canadians are at least 65% progressive and that number is only getting higher every year, especially in the provinces east of Saskatchewan and in B.C. I don’t believe there is any electoral map you can draw in such a populace that leads to a Conservative majority federal government.

And even in nominally conservative Sask & AB, provincial governments have soiled themselves over Covid and revealed themselves to be little more than wannabe tyrants wearing conservative clothing. Protests? Revolts? Too puny and/or short lived to matter. Widespread meek acceptance? You bet.

Canadians no longer want freedom more than they want cradle-to-grave big government liberalism and progressivism. They crave the feeling that someone else is looking after them. They crave feeling morally superior. They crave knowing that they are nothing like those ignorant redneck gunloving racist fat ugly southern Christian conservative Americans, and that plays right into the Liberal and progressive playbooks.

We can’t vote our way out of this. Canada is a failing state.

      1. I have to dispute that percentage.
Consider all the progressive options on the ballot last election and juxtaposition that to the number of eligible voters that did not even bother to cast a ballot.
If they have more than one progressive option on the ballot and no conservative option would it not be logical that given an actual conservative to vote for might change the outcome of the elections?
        I’ll give another caveat.
Perhaps what the non voters and conservatives have in common isn’t as much ideological as it is a desire to see the government restrained.
When there is a good bloc of votes that are dependent on the state any politician pledging to restrict the bureaucracy will be seen as an existential threat.
How many conservative MP’s are known for a small government pov?

        1. The related observation to my belief that Canadians are supermajority progressive is this: conservatives only tend to win federal elections after a LONG period of power for Liberals, after which the corruption that Liberals inevitably create simply becomes too foul for even their die-hards to bear. Then and only then are conservatives given power, but then only long enough for the Liberals to clean out (some of) their dirty laundry, install a new, palatable leader, and then the cycle begins anew. Look at the cycle ever since Sir John A left this earth. We get a conservative federal government that begets a majority about once per 25 years (asterisk indicates minority or coalition):

2006*/08*/11 (27/23 years between majorities depending how you count)
          1984/88 (26 years)
1979* (shouldn’t even count this one, for all it amounted to)
          1957*/58/62* (28 years)
          1930 (19/13 years)
          1911/17* (20 years since Mac’s last win in 1891)

The periods in between are dominated by Liberals, and conservatives never stay in power very long. Only ONE conservative PM post-MacDonald has won more than a single majority, and that was Mulroney. FIVE different Liberals (if I’ve counted right) managed it and lil’ Trudeau may yet still do it.

This simply isn’t a conservative country. Probably never was.

      2. You nailed this perfectly. I have a question, where do we go from here? I have been spouting this to people who just don’t care anymore. This is what I have been hearing for years…”What about my pension? What about my free health care? What about my free prescriptions? “ now it’s” I want free dental care” This stuff is not “free” and what we just remembered a few short days ago should remind what it was they fought for -freedom, not free stuff.
There is no place left to go either and if someone knows of a place where the authorities leave it’s CITIZENS alone and a free market actually exists and not some corporatist government oligarchy please respond in kind.

    3. “Pick any topic and conservatives are on the wrong side. …. Public opinion is against them. That is why a fool like the Bong can lead.”

The other post nails why this is – as Jordan Peterson said this was caused by 300,000 micro-retreats by conservatives, and each tiny one shifted The Overton Window to this place where these topics cannot be discussed or debated and where there is only one allowable “public opinion”.

The answer is 300,000 micro-aggressions in the opposite direction.

      1. RN
Petersen is correct in that conservatives have been in retreat, but that doesn’t explain the wholesale collapse of conservatism. It’s not just a Canadian phenomenon. The US is experiencing it as well.

Conservative thinkers don’t show up on the curriculum in any public education system. Can you name a university that has a libertarian on faculty in the dept of philosophy? What I am saying is that the ideas of Marx and Kant have become so deeply embedded in our education systems that students in the past 50 years haven’t heard anything else. There is no critical thinking and the marxists have obtained critical mass.

  7. I’m still marvelling at the semi-lucidity, in this article, from Mike Harris. He must be on new meds or something. It’s been a long, loooong time since he wrote anything that wasn’t just some unhinged lefty rant.

  8. I got half way through and saw that while you should justifiably be able to criticize O’Toole, one mustn’t criticize the jab. Only authorized speech allowed.

  9. Not to get into a “No true Scotsman…” line of thinking but a real Conservative would step aside…he’s obviously leading a fractured party and it’s quite evident he can’t read political tea leaves worth shit so put the party above yourself and off with you. Feckless at best, fresh out of the WEF incubator at worst. Desiring a “bigger tent” is a recipe for balkanization and is a personal invitation to those with mental issues to slip under and wreck shop. It works well for Liberals because they’ve taken their version of subjective reality to whole new levels,(Exhibit A: “people experience things differently”) so there isn’t a sick minded progressive cause they aren’t willing to go to bat for.
Take Rempel with you. We’ll see how Oklahomans cotton to transplants who talk out of both sides of their yap.

  10. The Conservative Party has “Erin O’Toole, Npc”.

    They need “Some Body, Els”.

Remember to vote Maverick or PPC.

  11. Dogs don’t want to be cats either.
It’s like falling off the evolutionary ladder.
Liberals are… well… pond scum basically.

  12. the majority of liberal voters would vote for a fence post if it ran for the party. They don’t bother to check the platform they just know as mommy and daddy and the teachers taught them if it is liberal it must be good.

    1. In my riding, they could splash orange paint on a goat, and it would win. But then as we now know the NDP and Liberals are not separated by much on the policy spectrum.

  13. As I say, I don’t go where I’m not welcome, and my money, time and vote don’t go where I don’t go.

Why do they think that if they just keep trying to clone Joe Clark they’ll get a Stephen Harper by accident (no fan of him really either, but as best as we’ve had recently.)

And I say that as a guy who unfortunately voted for Premier Doug “Flounder” Ford…

  14. Lots of people voted for the CPC, despite the fact that Erin’s platform was to the left of the Turd’s 2015 platform. Voting for that sort of platform is the very definition of a liberal.
Erin turned Canada from 60% liberal to 90% liberal.
Stock up on canned food and arrows, and start planning your defeat garden.

    1. As usual, you start by being completely disingenuous about motivation of people who voted. You are 100% aware of of that, but you insist on repeating a lie because that lie is the very foundation of your romantic vision in which you and a handful of disgruntled Rejtan wannabes are the heroes.
      Also, look up logical fallacy.

  15. Oh dear! Are you really concerned which party would represent you best after witnessing the last election?

If you believe the canaduuh charter of rights and freedoms means anything then you must conclude that no current parties believe in freedom of movement, freedom of peaceful assembly, freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression amongst others.

As such, O’Fool must go, turdeau must go, Singh must go and most MP’s must be considered illegally elected if they will not uphold all charter rights and not just the convenient popular rights.

  16. O’Toole is a Liberal plant and I will not be dissuaded from that conclusion.

His ideals differ very little from the Liberals. He threw the election he should have handily won and will not be told otherwise.

Justin’s handlers must be breathing a sigh of relief by now.

    1. See also: John Tory, leader of ON Conservative Party throwing an election to McGuinty, giving us decades of McGuinty/Wynne hell in Ontario.

There is precedent for this, and there is precedent for it to be obvious as hell as in O’Toole’s case.

  17. Oh’Stool, Batherson and the Globalist Liberals that run the Con Party don’t want to win elections, that is obvious, thats why they essentially campaigned for the Turdhole Party in the last election by adopting all of the LIberal/CCP Party Policies. An excellent way to lose, which of course was the plan, lose.

Now the Globalist/Con Party wants to continue to lose and the best way to do that is with a tried and true loser without even a modicum of integrity, Arrun Oh;Stool.

The Con Party are as morally and ethically corrupt as the Globalist Liberal/CCP Party.
    Maybe more.
Time for a name change, may I suggest, the Globalist Party, or Liberal/Globalist #2 Party, or just #2… stop gas lighting people with the utter bullshit of calling yourselves, Conservative… at least have the honesty to admit who you really are.

The Con Party are joke, just like the country they ruin and the LIberal Party they prop up.
INcidently, when does Oh;Stool get his well deserved cabinet position in the LIberal/CCP/NDP/Blok Government. ?
Or is his check already in the mail, wink, wink.

  18. L – Federal politics, as played out in Parliament, is full of Non-Playable-Characters, but in
P.M. Peter Pan’s Neverland. It’s always the bad actors, who hog the stage.

Error O’Toole ran for 2nd place, as per the Peter Principle, and dares not seriously audition
for a leading role, not even in his own party. No one has scripted, how he could even survive a leadership review. So, he’s out of lines and out of line, too.

  19. Some parents, and some of the public in general, are distressed by Drag Queen Story Hour, kids being taken to a gay nightclub (during the day) for a school field trip, etc. All of the “icky” social conservatives are saying, “We told you so.” Physical, mental or verbal abuse of people because of who they want to have sex with or dress up as, is wrong. Holding up what is by definition a deviant lifestyle as something to be praised and admired, will get you a minor boy in drag on a stripper pole.

    1. Telling sign – why does Bell Media believe that every NFL fan and watcher of TSN wants to see endless “Canada’s Drag Race” commercials during every effin’ sporting event they broadcast? They don’t. It’s pure, blatant conditioning.

  20. The only reason 80% who voted CPC made that decision was fear of what is happening under the most incompetent and corrupt government Canada has ever put in office. They weren’t voting for O toole’s policies, they were voting with the hope he wouldn’t have been as big a disaster as Trudeau . That likely wouldn’t have worked either , as you can now see.

  21. As for Canadians being majority progressive or left, I don’t think that’s the case – Canadian voters like to feel smug in their moral superiority and as such vote for governments (leftist whether Con or Lib or NDP) that deliver policies that foster that nice “comfy fur”.

But that is only so long as someone else is paying the bill. Hence deficit after deficit.

If you sent a bill for “services rendered” for Trudeaus spendathon – say about 100K per household – to be paid by April 30 – or your assets get seized – you would see Canadians become very fiscally – and as such socially – conservative in a heartbeat.

Thing is that’s where this is headed – but the bill will come due another trillion or so down the road – when interest rates go through the roof as do tax rates. You wont be able to afford the taxes and mortgage on your house.

    Just how Schwab wants it.

  22. This is a concept that the Republicans in the US can’t seem to grasp, either. People who want to be government dependents are going to vote Democrat. Running on a platform of “We’ll give you everything the Democrats will, just not as much” is a losing proposition. You have to motivate those of us who want the government to leave us alone and let us get on with it. When I hear a “conservative” offering a plan for family leave or climate change mitigation, my motivation to vote is seriously sapped.
