  1. Maine has a history with Massachusetts — it succeeded from it. They don’t like being treated like its utility.

    1. So Mass caused the success of Maine? or did Maine successfully secede from Mass?

I got an idea… Send those wires over to Ontario to replace the oil pipeline ol gretch is trying to shut down and you all can have beautiful carbon free cheap Canadian energy! It’s a win win for everyone (except the taxpayers).

      1. “So Mass caused the success of Maine?”
        Yes.

“or [sic] did Maine successfully secede from Mass?”
        Yes, but I repeat myself.

      2. An oil pipeline can’t be replaced by only hydro transmission lines. Do you have any idea how many products get refined out of the content of that pipeline? Obviously not. Energy illiteracy abounds.

  2. I think this is a good thing, Quebec has screwed the rest of Canada for years it’s about time the got a little payback. I assume SNC Lavalin is heavily involved in this project. Quebec is one of the most if not the most corrupt province in Canada and quite frankly hates the rest of the country so it looks good on them,… Steve O

    1. The feds do nothing every time the west gets screwed, in fact they often do the screwing, but wait til you see the full court press on this from Ottawa, with the MSM in full support. I hope Maine uses Indian tribal land as the reason, reconcile that blackie!!!

  3. Looks good on them! I’m from Ontario but it p!ssed me off to no end when they fu## with energy east. F them and the prime minister they rode in on.

  4. “What goes around, comes around”
Or “Karma made you her bitch”, are my two favorite phrases right now.

  5. Man, this Two Minutes Hate is lasting a long time. You could teach Orwell a thing or two about how to run Airstrip One.
You act like spoiled children, playing tit-for-tat, instead of reasoning adults.
I’d laugh if Kenney jumped in on Quebec’s side, and started applying some pressure, with the proviso he’d get his pipeline, and a few bribes to the frogs, as goes without saying.
Of course, only Quebec is man enough to turn the feds into his bitch, and play as rough as they can with foreign powers, while Albertans hide in their basements and vicariously enjoy the misfortune of those they have been programmed by the feds to hate.
If Alberta separates, I shudder to think of what sort of state these infantile whiners come up with.

    1. Yeah well, Quebec can’t be trusted on anything. Alberta will do just fine if it separated….especially if the Greater Idaho concept becomes reality. Not so sure about B.C., however.

      1. The fact is, Quebec is tougher than all TROC put together, even the feds. They will out-bluff you, out scam you, and out fight you, every time except for once, back before McDonald’s, Disney and Wonder Bread turned TROC into mush.
The only place in Quebec that doesn’t believe in Quebec is Montreal.
Pure Laine actually means something, something that the woke hate with every fiber of their beings.

    2. yeah well, you missed the point. The folks on here know this is failed state, everything that hastens it’s demise is welcome.

    3. YW.. We have seen TwinkySocks wants to be Queen of Queerbec for a long time, so enjoying their pain is a natural response. But WE will pay somehow. Laughing past the graveyard I guess.

  6. This is awful!

How can people in one jurisdiction deny a critical energy route for another jurisdiction?. Certainly, here in Alberta, we could never imagine this happening to our fellow Canadians. Our hearts go out to you Quebec. May you get everything you truly deserve.

    1. Good one Rob, made me smile today in your way of phrasing our “collective” sorrow for Kbec in rescheduling final build plans. I wonder if those existing corridors, already clear cut, might not be utilized as milk pipeline routes? Oh wait I think there might be an embargo on that trade.

      Bill

  7. I kinda feel for Quebec. It is perhaps the cleanest power, pretty much a win win for everyone. Who woulda thunk brain-dead environmentalists would shut it down? (/sarc)

But alas, there is no french word for “karma”….

          1. Hydro dams need a lot of concrete. Making concrete uses a lot of power and creates a lot of pollution. The type that is made in the concrete plant in Quebec that was given an environmental exemption.

          2. As they say in Quebec. Touche!

P.S. For Eagle. You’re as stunned as a cow right before its throat is slit at an abbatoir.

          3. I have no idea Peter.

Nevertheless, the conclusion that hydroelectric is a bad source of energy is just bizarre.

        1. How much wildlife habitat is destroyed by the resulting water reservoir?

I doubt Quebec would be using run of river type generation.

        2. Huge areas of drowned forest vegetation break down slowly underwater, releasing large amounts of carbon dioxide over long time frames. Big hydro is not “green,” at least as that term is currently defined.

  8. Maine might be negotiating. They’d want Quebec to sell all the electricity to Maine, at the same price Quebec pays Newfoundland. Maine would then be free to sell the electricity to Massachusetts for a higher price.

  9. So, now the Canadian Right is saying “Down with non-green hydro power!!”?
I bet some of these assholes would hire Greta of the could, or at least Warren Kinsella, as is typical of the Canadian right; They never saw a value that they wouldn’t sacrifice on the altar of political expediency.
    Fuck off.

    1. Not me. (mostly) free and clean energy be good, in my book.

And irrespective what Greta charges by the hour, I would never hire her.

    2. no the canadian right is saying down with this gelded nation of infants, who need mommy government just to cross the road. It is already broke, and the Turd is busy killing the only hard currency exports we have, we just say faster!

    3. Congratulations, you’ve become our number-one regular for slagging us. “Fuck Alberta, fuck anyone who is sick of Quebec, fuck all you conservatives.“

Haven’t seen UnMe or Allan S for a while, but you’ve done an excellent job of replacing them.

  10. Canaduhs Net Zero economy gets an early boost. Kill off all those nasty energy projects they only propogate male violence, climate barby assured us all.

  11. And the electricity Quebec sells is NOT included in calculating transfer payments, billions of dollars worth yearly.

  12. Quebec owns Canada and they run Canada. Do not think that they don’t. Quebec is an independent country within Canada right now (a nation within a nation) except for the financial tie that gives them 66% of all transfer payments. They are part of Canada in name only and in the vacuous, naïve minds of Canadians that live outside of Quebec. They have their own taxation, CPP (QPP), immigration policy, police force, judiciary, language laws, management of all natural resources – everything that an independent country would have. They also have the ear and the heart and mindless mind of our Prime Minister. He will pull out all stops to solve this issue with Maine. But with respect to Alberta? Trudough will destroy their economy as it is based on ugly oil and gas. He has stated so publicly now at COP 26.

    1. First of all, China runs Canada and Justin can’t do a damn thing about this.

His sway extends no further than the Saint Lawrence Seaway.

He will make some middling comments and have his @$$ handed to him by the lower New Brunswickers (also called residents of Maine).

  13. Said it earlier.
Quebec’s political class has this firmly held perception that Canada was created as a 50-50 power sharing agreement and all benefits are split half to them and the other half distributed to those other provinces.
In spite of what’s written in law, they retain this belief. That is until they encounter a situation where they can’t paper over or threaten.
So now they are on the receiving end and it’s for the same reasons they objected to energy east, but now it involves another party that doesn’t recognize a Quebec nation.
Matter of fact, the history of the New England colonies was one that was acrimonious toward the French province. From the reading I’ve done on that period they considered the officials of New France bad faith negotiators.
Perhaps they still feel the same.

  14. This made my day. Love it! The little turd must be furious at how his beloved ‘nation’ is being treated by the Americans.

Now, can Michigan stop talking and just shut down line 5 so that Quebec can freeze this coming winter.
