Meanwhile Waterloo’s Woke Utopia is at hand.

A diverse workforce is essential to creating “an anti-racist working environment,” it says. “The current system is not accessible to certain populations, and must be amended to improve accessibility to the process from start to finish,” it says.

It calls for the Region to better recognize credentials from other countries, and create “a hiring policy that actively seeks out the lived experiences and community-based work of BIPOC communities as accepted qualifications.”

  1. Waterloo, a town with two universities so this kind of crap is not surprising. Guelph is the same. Great Kool Aid franchises.

    1. Why are Blacks not included in the POC part of BIPOC? Shouldn’t it just be IPOC?

Are acronyms now being created by the Department of Redundancy Department?

  2. Anyone who, like me, has watched ‘The Closer’ will know that, aside from being absolutely hilarious, the story he tells about his friendship with a trans-woman was anything BUT transphobic. Quite the reverse: it was incredibly touching.

  3. We must recognize experience as much as training. Does that mean that a witch-doctors ideas must be given the same credibility as a medically schooled doctor.

    1. Does that mean that a witch-doctors ideas must be given the same credibility as a medically schooled doctor.

Yup. After all, aren’t “traditional knowledge keepers” seen by certain people as being on par with those with extensive scientific backgrounds?

      1. And based solely on verbal history, undocumented………

And what do we know about human nature in this regard? By the time a story has been told between several people, the end story barely resembles the original tale.

But, that fact is disregarded when it comes to natives, because RACIST!

    2. Are the witch doctors pushing experimental clotshots? No? Then they’re more credible than the pill-pushing MDs.

    3. Some doctors are educated in medicine but are still to stupid to practice it. I wouldn’t let them near a dead body. In those cases your chances with a witch doctor or shaman are likely better.

  4. Alright.

To fill this BIPOC quota, let’s hire only North Korean defectors and Yazidi rape victims.

Let their experiences living under tyranny shape the rejection of the cancel culture, calling out communism and Islamist terrorism and fighting against a centralised government in the thrall of China.

    They’ve learned English, too.

  5. Further, re: Waterloo, Victoria, etc. Looks like Lenin succeeded – we’re paying for the rope that makes our noose!

  6. In other words, if you’re BIPOC and you breathe air and eat food, you’re qualified.
Honestly, I’m embarrassed for anyone who would be hired on that basis.

  7. To think we once considered being more assertive that our son should go to Waterloo for Engineering.

No, no and more no. Death to Commies!

    1. I punched out of U(W) engineering in third year in 1997 because the quality of education had slipped dramatically, there were no jobs in the field, comp sci was looking like a better bet all the time, and most importantly: it was becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the staggeringly unethical and immoral culture of the Engineering program.

    2. I wasn’t impressed by Waterloo’s attitude about teaching engineering. It seemed to have an attitude that it could do no wrong and many university engineering departments, which were no longer being run by people who’d been in industry, followed suit.

Then again, what do I know? All I got were 4 degrees in 2 different disciplines plus registration in 3 provinces.

  8. Speaking of Korea, is anyone watching “Squid Game”? I know most here loathe Netflix, but this is interesting – not to do too big a spoiler, but in the latest episode I saw, some “VIPs” are invited to watch.

They’re caricatures of ultra-rich men, getting their rocks off watching peons die like flies for a chance to win a pile of money, something they obviously take for granted as they’re betting millions on the game, like a horse race for extreme degenerates.

They’re wearing masks, but in my mind’s eye I’m seeing Bill Clinton, Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein, Bill Gates…you get the picture. Not exactly DEEP satire, but a very interesting show. 😉

  9. Expediting foreign credentials is long overdue. I think not doing so sort of reinforces a ‘guild’ type system here: ‘We’re in and you’re not’ For example, a guy I met in Oakville 20 years ago from the middle east with 20 years in computer networks had to get his ‘Microsoft system engineer ‘ cert. Really? I met him in his pizza shop. Sigh. Sure, employers are free to make their own choices but I still think it’s a waste of human capital.

    1. Twenty years ago, you could get an MCSE in an afternoon from any test prep center. The GTA was flooded with third-world immigrants who did just that, devaluing the certification to the point that it became meaningless.

It was also unnecessary. I’ve been doing this for 25 years, I’ve never had a single industry certification of any kind. If your friend couldn’t get hired in 2001, the MCSE had nothing to do with it.

    2. There was a reason why people with foreign degrees often didn’t get jobs in their fields in this country. Sometimes, the quality of the institutions granting those degrees was questionable. Often, it was hard to establish whether the education of the applicant in question actually covered the subjects required.

It’s not always the choice of the employer. It’s often established by legislation as to who can or cannot practice in a given field.

  10. None of the streaming service providers are worth purchasing. They all seem to push as their “flagship” programmes something only liberals, paedophiles or alphabet life-forms would want to view. I have seen some content and it is fairly decent but paying to finance the other garbage is not going to happen.

  11. I tried to watch Chapelle’s comedy show on Netflix, he’s woke pretending to be not woke. I couldn’t even finish watching.

    1. Having heard 20 seconds of him on CBC I knew I had no interest in hearing any more of him. Thanks for the warning CBC.
