Wouldn’t matter if someone called themselves fiscally conservative but socially progressive, they would have no home in the liberal party and hence no one on the ballot to vote for, essentially blu liberals would be disenfranchised.
The liberal vote block would decrease by dilution.
Besides, the NDP would be negotiating from a position of weakness so their members would be opposed ideologically to the idea.
It would cause them no end of problems and frankly I can’t see any reason why either a liberal or a dipper would even fathom such a notion.

We in the West lost when we decided to form the CPC and take in the eastern PCs. We dissolved the Reform Party and formed the Alliance.

This is a very troubling trend, because, for reasons stated above, this trend is the result of systemic changes in demography, and unlikely to be reversed quickly.

Last week my wife called the CRA to ask a few questions about getting a estate clearance certificate.
The first time she called the wait time was 4 hrs!!! Later in the day it dropped to just 2 1/2 hrs.
Who the fuck can wait on hold for 2-4 hours?!?!?!?!

I had a few fun and games associated with that part of settling my father’s estate.
Shortly after he died, I called the CRA about my mother’s estate as I didn’t know what its status was. Since I wore all 3 hats with respect to my father’s, any obligations he may have had automatically became mine.
“Were you named as the executor of your mother’s estate?”
“Uh, no, but my father was. Since I’m my father’s executor now, I figured that meant that I’m my mother’s as well.”
“G’bye.”
“Whoawhoawhoa! My father just died. I now have to deal with the whole mess, including any outstanding business he may have had. Is there a way of finding out what happened with my mother’s estate?”
“Were you named as your mother’s executor?”
“No.”
“G’bye.”
Aaaaaaarrrggggghhhh! Fortunately, my father’s accountant was able to answer that question for me, which saved me having to hire a lawyer for at least $300/hr. That same accountant told me he had to deal with that sort of idiocy just about every day.
That’s our civil service in action.

My mom died a year or so back. She had retired to Florida, and given my name and address as a contact in Canada to Scotiabank. She was overdrawn by just over $200.00 when she died. I got a letter from the bank, explaining that she was overdue. I am not the executor. I called the bank to let them know she was dead. They asked me to send them a death certificate. I said I don’t have it. They asked me to get it. I said “No, get it yourself”, they asked “Where?”, I said “I dunno, the State of Florida maybe?” Then they told me that in order to close the account, they need the death certificate, so I said, “So what? I don’t care. ”
This went on for about 10 minutes until the girl on the other end realized I wasn’t gonna do anything at all, and that I had just called as a courtesy.
