Nothin’ special this evening though I am posting this from my phone at the bar of a Texas Roadhouse in El Paso. Had a rather pleasant drive from San Diego today.

    Makes it obvious that the restrictions are to penalize people– not to reduce transmissions. Where are the legal challenges? Much of this violates laws that are supposed to protect against discrimination.

I thought everyone agreed that getting booze was an “essential service”, unlike a haircut or mani-pedi or buying clothes that you have to try on for fit (sorry Amazon: I do not buy from pictures) or dog grooming or computer shops and all the businesses that actually ARE essential after 2 years of impoverished living, otherwise, they would fail. Sask sucks. How fast to get us to the 3rd world?

      Remember what we did as kids? Find a friendly vaxxed person to get your booze and drink it in the parking lot.

    6. A friend of mine was in Regina, Sask on Friday, she visited the Costco as part of her routine while visiting the city, was able to buy the normal things she gets there, but the liquor store is inside the Costco, and she wasn’t able to enter without showing a vax passport.

      The china virus is evolving to know the difference between shoppers buying cheese and chicken, to buying red wine.

      That’s ok I said, I know a guy who can set us up.

  2. It’s a bit late, but I want to say something about this whole flags-at-half-mast thing.

    Like everyone, I am the descendant of four great-grandmothers. Those four women gave birth to their children between 1904 and 1931. Among those four women…

    — 3 lost children who were younger than 5 years of age.
    — The fourth lost 3 of her children before they reached the age of 2…and she herself died during childbirth with her third.

    In addition to that, my grandparents and their siblings lost four other children (that I know of). All died before the age of 2. One of them was my father’s eldest sister – died in October 1927 at the age of 3 days.

    That’s a total of 14 people (13 children and 1 adult) that I know of. And all of them are in unmarked graves.

    I know that there were at least a few more examples in my family of that time. I just don’t remember all of the stories.

    When I first heard of the unmarked graves at the old sites of the residential schools, my first thought was, “So, pretty typical for that time. What’s the big deal?”

    As I understand it, we started this half-mast thing because of 215 unmarked graves. Of the family stories that I do know, my family alone can account for 6.5% of that. People just couldn’t afford headstones in that time. Is it any wonder that the Indian Affairs Department wasn’t shelling out money for headstones during the same era?

    I think this country is lost for good. We have consciously decided to elect people who would put us on our knees without contextualizing what things were like just a few generations ago. This is deliberate and nothing short of suicidal.

    I guess we’ve just “progressed” to become a self-flagellating people.

    2. Local closed graveyard has an unmarked grave, the severe winter of 1947, roads all closed, young girl died, her uncles buried her, no family grave since they were new to the area so she’s all alone and nobody knows where she is not even her sister born after her death.

    3. Most of the “unmarked” graves that people (and the mis-media) are wild about were community graves. The children that died not only came from the residential schools, but from the community in general. The “unmarked” graves were actually “marked” originally with wooden crosses that naturally eroded over time. Tuberculosis at the time was a child-killer that took children’s lives from every community. The starvation was the result of mismanaging resources on the part of yes… the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! The same government that is now been charged with protecting us “having our backs” against this disease.

      This entire debacle is simply Canada’s version of CRT, designed not to “reconciliate” but to further drive a wedge separating our communities by claiming “systemic racism.” The “genocide” angle doesn’t help much either. You’re not going to score brownie points with me by calling me an evil genocidal racist, based solely on the color of my skin, when all these acts happened before I was even born.

      You can’t unite communities with lies. You certainly can’t unite communities by tearing down monuments commemorating historical figures that built this country, re-writing history in the process by smearing them with even more lies. That’s what totalitarian regimes do to “divide and conquer” as it were.

She later won bronze at the Olympics. First 8 seconds. Take a look at that fall. Even the older male skateboarders like her because she’s a beast… an adorable, cute as hell, tough as nails beast…

      3. IVM in technical terms, is a ‘zinc ionophore’. That is, as described here already, acts as interference to virus’ from entering the cell. Zinc is the bullet, IVM is the gun.
        IVM is used throughout Africa and Central and South America to prevent parasitic River Blindness. Covid is RARE in those regions………….
        HCQ and Quercetin are also zinc ionophores, though not as effective.
        Quercetin as available almost anywhere that vitamins and supplements are sold.

      5. Ivermectin was designed as a human drug and won a Nobel Peace prize for preventing millions of cases of river blindness and other parasitic ills. A profitable sideline is it’s use as a veterinary medicine for parasites. 30 or 40 years ago I used to use it to treat warble flies which were required to be treated by law. Some people find larvae in meat to be unappealing. Imagine that. Most common human drugs are used for animals. Some are not even repackaged.

        One can certainly use said horse “dewormer” for a human as long as you utilize a little bit of MATH. A dose for a 1500 lb horse would likely be ~10-15 times more than what one would ingest into themselves. Have friends with horses – and they’ve used it in the past with ill effect.

    1. Comparisons to Karla Holmolka are a bit unfair, but it is a mind- boggling story. I have read the book, and you are right, it should be getting more attention. I suspect it is not because it makes Silicon Valley and all those high profile investors look bad. I have not been following what is available.
      Another interesting wrinkle was Holmes’ claim that she really did have some interesting technology thst has been stolen by one of the big companies. I read that some time ago, but don’t know if there is any substance to it.

    One thing not mentioned about the train line is that it has no toilets at any of the stations.
    In fact the city of Ottawa as well as the City Of Ottawa has almost no public toilets anywhere not to mention water fountains.

    Working down in one of the tunnel stations on a night shift, we all took turns urinating outside. Not like the street people downtown cared…

    If you’re a potential tourist reading this, don’t bother visiting. Its a 3rd world, cheap-ass city full of privileged, crabby snivel servants. When you’ve been to Rome, living in Ottawa is probably not much better than 2nd century Britain.

  21. Thats a pretty false comparison. Your example may cause some embarrassment and social exclusion and the inconvenience of a quick clean up. The consequences of not getting vaccinated may be severe illness or death. If you worked in health care you would hear the regrets of dying patients who did not choose to get vaccinated. The result is irreversible. And you would hear the fear of cancer patients or transplant patients who face the possibility of death because their care is postponed to allocate space to Covid cases.

    1. The one person I knew who died of Covid was dying. Covid just shortened the process. She had multiple problems, primarily obesity, heart issues, and diabetes plus she was on dialysis waiting for a transplant.

      I had my first Covid shot but had feelings like angina for the first time in 7 years. It only took a few shots of nitro and it went away but I’m done. Before the disease scared me more than the vaccine. Now the vaccine scares me more.
