    1. Wasn’t sure about where the mail ins stood, but the second closest prediction was significantly further off, so called it.

      1. I didn’t take a guess and participate as was hoping and still hoping, PM JT does not get a Majority. I wouldn’t put it past the Libs to get their way. Why else would they gamble so much for an election so close to all the recent mega scandals in the last two years? Were they afraid to wait 2 more years and lose big? My guess is that by Monday, he has his Majority. Canadians will be floored!

    2. Looks like Jeff was allowing for the mail-in vote with 7 more seats going LPC.

      Congratulations Jeff!
How did I let myself be so optimistic about Canada’s voters?

    3. It is Tuesday 28th, but Elections Canada is stocked at September 20 (yes, I refreshed the page!). So much for the due dates.
It is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous what is happening, do we go the AMERICAN WAY??

    4. Obviously, we all brace ourselves for malfeasance with the mail-in vote in light of the rank American abuses of “vote harvesting” in their last presidential election.

In theory, however, if the mail-in vote here is actually legitimate, there’s no reason why such votes should favour the Liberal Party.

I could see a large number of people not wanting to vote in person being mostly older people. Older people as a demographic might not be inclined to vote Liberal any more than other groups of voter, and they could in fact tend to be more “conservative” in their outlook.

In any event, if the mail-in vote significantly deviates from the in-person vote pattern as it currently stands, and favours the Liberals, corruption of the process should be suspected.

If there’s any appearance of abuse, however, do not expect any outcry whatsoever from any party or media outlet. It seems the country has one big uniparty, like other authoritarian states.

    5. Thank you for posting this CP article.

Counting is complete in all but a few ridings in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta. Counting has finished in more than 300 of the country’s 338 ridings, Elections Canada said Friday.

But then it goes on to say BC is still counting too:

But in B.C., which received the most mail ballots of anywhere in Canada, a clutch of ridings are waiting for the final result. In some, including Victoria, more than 10,000 mail ballots had to be verified before the count could start.

We were told by Elections Canada before the election they expected as many as 3 million mail-in votes. Just before voting day they said they received 1 million requests for mail-in ballots. The article states, however, that apparently the actual number is lower still:

A record number of postal votes – some 850,000 – were received during this election,

It seems that recounts could also be a source of seat flips:

Recounts are expected in a few ridings with very close results, such as Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia-Headingley in Manitoba where the Conservatives edged out the Liberals by only 24 votes

An academic says the mail-in votes have made a difference, but fails to explain how:

Elections expert Dennis Pilon said mail-in ballots “had made a difference in a few races.”

I wonder whether Elections Canada will release voting information specifically about the mail-in votes. If the votes are just lumped in to current riding data, then people will have to do the extrapolations themselves to determine the vote breakdown of mail-in votes.

Liberals currently need to flip about 11 seats to get their majority, correct?

  1. Not too shabby Jeff, our consensus was also fairly good I think (something like 145 to 125 with 35 Bloc and 30 NDP and a handful of Greens and PPC (a very small handful as it turned out)).

  2. Same as WalterF, my last bit of optimism had me predict a bit of a Liberal spanking.

But over 5,556,000 Canadians voted for Shithead the Racist and the Corrupt Libranos. (I fully acknowledge O’Toole is a globalist schmuck and the Cons are a joke.)

By and large Canadians are ignorant statists and deserve their fate: a rapidly rising cost of living and continually lower standard of living under a Prog Autocracy of Stupid.

  3. It’s really depressing when you realize that fewer than 15% of Canadians voted Liberal this time and they get to decide the fate of the nation.

About 10% of the population works for various levels of government so it makes “sense” they’d vote for the Groper.

I guess the other 5% are married to swivel serpents or are just delusional a**holes.

    1. About 10% of the population works for various levels of government

I suspect neither of us have reference to a real number; nevertheless, when one factors in the entire state medical apparatus, crown corporations and agencies, media companies (both private and state), educational institutions, corporations that rely for much of their revenue upon lucrative government contracts, (both tendered and sole-sourced), and the sick, lame, lazy, and immigrant who subsist off some form of dole, the number of Canadians that view government as The Great Provider is far higher than 10%. My guess is that it exceeds half the population easily.
