The New Segregated Economy

We’re on the tale end of a federal election and so far the only two things being talked about on this topic is a billion dollar app and firing health care workers who don’t want the jab.

‘Getting dangerous’: Calls grow for federal action amid Canada’s nurse shortage

“I don’t think I can do a fourth wave with this kind of staffing,” she told Global News. “It’s not good for my mental health. It’s not good for my family. It’s not a workable situation anymore.”

Across the country, hospital staff are leaving their jobs at an alarming rate. And that’s prompting experts and health-care workers to call for more action from the federal government. Nearly one in five job vacancies in Canada is in health care and social assistance, according to Statistics Canada. In early 2021, those sectors experienced the largest losses year-over-year compared to all other sectors.

  1. Probably need to call in the Military to pick up the burn out.
Our politicians know that this system is fucked and yet they add more pressure and problems that make attracting replacements impossible.
The Nursing Homes have the same problem of understaffed and lack of replacements.

    1. They’re more likely to call in the military to round up the unclean lepers and have them…baptized.

  2. I had a colonoscopy scheduled for last march, and was cancelled when elective stuff wasn’t being done in BC. Got it in November 2020. Everyone talked about the high stress, ulcers and awful working conditions, and in that particular hospital they hadn’t had one covid case to that time.

It isn’t covid. It is the management response to the potential of covid. Procedure changes every day, for months on end. All this stuff takes time, and there were no additional people, in fact fewer people needing care but more work.

The ambulance personnel in our area are largely part timers, on call. The procedure changes and necessary training, along with the added work had everyone doing a four hour shift every morning. The call volume was not increased, and we had almost no covid until the last couple months.

The unvaccinated as a target group is a very timely arrival to divert attention away from the catastrophic mismanagement of the pandemic. Now there is someone to blame other than the mid level bureaucrats with email who spent the last year and a half justifying their existence by writing protocol changes.

    1. Hear, hear!

No one learned from SARS. No held Justin or China accountable. No one questioned those on the Sunshine list. No one worked to bring order to chaos.

One could also mention the poor training and the ridiculous politics that go into hiring and maintaining medical staff, as well.

    1. I’d be willing to bet that’s far closer to the truth. I’ve had occasion to visit waiting rooms recently, and it’s the usual run of injured drunks and junkies, some needing to be escorted out without treatment because they’re stupidly combative.

    2. Years and years of fear mongering to the populace while condoning self anesthetizing with recreational drug use has produced these results.
People don’t know why they having been living with angst for years and this current ‘covid crisis’ has given them something to glom onto.

  3. “We’re on the tale end of a federal election . . .”

    . . . and I’m beginning to suspect it doesn’t have a happy ending.

  4. This is all caused by the GOVERNMENT and Idiots like TAM and the Provincial Loons like her. The Front Line staff were all hero’s now they are UnVaxxed Beasts.
The NDP say hand out more money. Money will not fix this shit,
The Nurses and all support staff should start doing WILDCAT STRIKES and tell Government to Fuck Off, you want to fire us, Fuck You.
And they all should be CHANTING FUCK YOU TRUDEAU.

    1. 1000% bang on Watchr

If they all showed some cojones and all walked out..?? This BS Pandemic would cease to exist within 24 hrs.

      1. Trudeau can draw a picture of an “ASSHOLE” But he can’t make it shit.
He can print Billions and hand it out.
But You Can’t Print Nurses and Educated and Highly Trained People.
Canada NEEDS a Nationwide Walk Out of Every Fucking Worker who resents being told what to do by FUCKING INBRED MORONS.
Just everybody fucking walk and keep Chanting FUCK YOU.
        This shit will end overnight.

        1. Won’t happen because too many brain dead sheeple believe the bull shit they are fed by the corrupt MSM.

Any attempt to get them to see the light just gets you ostracized.

    2. The NDP (as in Wretched Knothead and her health critic Jabba the Hut) along with the corrupt MSM are demanding the lockdowns and other wrongheaded programmes to address COVID.
Alberta hospitals sent patients home to dedicate complete floors and wards for COVID only. ICU’s are always busy. The dedicated COVID floors and wards are grossly underutilised. Yet the lying sacks of shit in the MSM and NDP cry daily that the hospitals, especially the ICU’s, are overwhelmed due to COVID.
So now we’re going back into lockdowns because Premier Kenny has no spine or balls to stand up to them.

      1. They are overwhelmed due to COVID – COVID policies, COVID precautions, COVID preparations, COVID panic, COVID politics. Everything but COVID patients.

  5. You guys should see how jail and correctional centers are operating during all of this in Ontario. We’re bursting at the seams, and over operating capacity as always, except now we have to also make provisions for quarantining inmates with radically different classifications, high turnover, and a lot less officers because the training centres were closed for the bulk of the shut-downs. This all leads to more lockdowns, assaults on officers, more opioid overdoses, more frustrated inmate population, massive burn out amongst officers doing the work of two or more. Frankly, I’m surprised we haven’t lost control of one or more institutions already.

    1. Interesting insight Buzzard. Hadn’t considered the impact this shitshow has had on the job you have to do.

  6. “‘Getting dangerous’: Calls grow for federal action amid Canada’s nurse shortage”
How fucking retarded do you have to be to think the feds can fix anything at all?

  7. Has there been any mention of airline pilots refusing to take the jab? Or being fired for refusing it?

We need to see many more labour strikes over this issue. And in this instance “labour” can be taken to include professionals.

  8. My ex wife graduated first in her nursing class 25 years ago, she had to stop half way through for a year when she had the twins… and was pregos again (and spent a week in hospital being sick) just prior to final exams.

She quit nursing forever a little over 5 years ago due to gov’t and their control, the union controls, and the never-ending paper chase that was taking more time than actual nursing.

Gov’t made this mess, and gov’t will try to repair it, and I expect monumental failure. It’s what they do.
Gov’t controls all aspects of health care in Canada, there isn’t anyone else to blame.

      1. Like the AHS managers and their assistant and the assistant to the assistant…
Kenny, Knothead, the mangers abd the assistants gave themselves fat raises. Now they want the front line staff to take a reduction. And they wonder why everyone is quitting.
(Yes Knothead also grabbed the raise, the HSAA generated myth of her virtuously is just plain propaganda bull shit.)

  9. Some of the staff shortages are caused by sick leave provisions that are being abused.
When the nurse in our family is called in on short notice she receives double time so for every hour worked for that shift the government is paying double time plus the wage of the nurse who booked off sick.
There are those who are truly sick & those who constantly use the provisions to claim another paid day off work.

  10. My neighbour, who is on the local hospital board, told me over 30% of the staff in our nearby hospital are planning on quitting because they don’t want to take the jab. I note how carefully this factor is not being mentioned. The local paper sort of reported it by saying the staff were disgusted by antivaxxers.

    1. They should all be fired and replaced with non-english speaking recent immigrants who have more than 1 year experience receiving government assistance. They should get raises too. Healthcare grows from the heart out and if you kill old people, they win. Serious times call for serious solutions.

I’m Justin Trudeau and I approve this message.

  11. It’s all BS – this is just an attempt to astroturf the fact that 25-30% of healthcare staff are about to be taken off the field due to vax mandates. Any other “reasons” are just white noise.

    1. Two reasons for short staffing. 1) Told to take a pay reduction while politicians, bureaucrats and management give themselves raises. 2) Being terminated for refusing the poison jab.
The corrupt MSM only focuses on the narrative. They are all lying sacks of shit in the Ministry of Propaganda.

    2. Well, Yo Adrian Dix, BC Health Monster, er, Minister, isn’t going to fire nurses, no sirree, nope, he’s going to really show THEM!

      Suspended without pay, instead.

So, instead of fired without cause, which will backfire (severance due, and the optics of firing nurses), ol Adrian instead will torture those obstinate beetches.

      Cowardly fecking limpwristed commie.

      1. Yet another example of how this scam is NOT about health.
Dix is a real Knt that needs facial rearranging
One day, there will be consequences for the actions of these fascists.
lets hope the nurses don’t back down.
Fuk comrade Dix and his, pet Bonnie Hitler.

  12. That’s what happens when you prioritize bureaucrats over beds. And, as a perceptive offspring has observed, there are problems when the decision as to which jobs must be cut is left to those whose jobs probably should go; it’s the front-line workers who are let go, not the “administrators”. Spouse noticed this back in the day as, no matter how many downsizings there were, HR never got any smaller.
