Terry Glavin: The West is buckling under China’s brutal hegemony
In Canada the rot runs deep

Ottawa’s response to Canada’s latest humiliation has been characteristically tepid, relying mainly on the delicate complaints offered by lifelong China-trade enthusiast Dominic Barton, the ambassador Ottawa plucked two years ago from the helm of McKinsey & Co — a global consultancy noted for providing management-efficiency expertise to dictatorships all over the world and for its service to Purdue Pharma in boosting sales of Oxycontin to American drug addicts. Canada’s embassy in Beijing convened a kind of press conference consisting of a couple of dozen diplomats from a variety of liberal democracies who were invited to stand on a platform for a photo opportunity and mutter platitudes about how hostage-taking is bad manners.

  1. Trudeau is so mad about this he’s going to do a Kung-fu Panda demonstration on CBC to scare the Chicoms into their safe spaces!!!!!!

  2. “Big money in those white powders” An that big money corrupts everything it touches. The courts, the cops, the pols. Everything.
    Unfortunately the deed is done.

  3. Any bets on Canada not boycotting the Olympics?

I’m guessing we will not. (Egos must own the podium…made of skulls).

  4. I know!

We’ll run posed photos of drowned Uighur children on a beach; blame Xi; and he’ll lose the next Chinese election because of the bad press!

  5. We’re victims of our own weakness. As I understand it Spravor and Kovrig are wallowing in a Chinese prison…Meng enjoys shopping sprees, evenings out on the town with friends and shuttles back and forth between two luxury homes in Vancouver, all this while under Canada style “house arrest”.
I mentioned yesterday the Justice Dept. in an attempt to help Canada get out of this mess, floated the idea of having her appear in front of a U.S. Judge, admit to wrong doing and bingo bongo, back to China she goes and Spravor and Kovrig can come home.
Nope. She doesn’t like the idea so no deal.
And why would she? Pfffffttttt…life’s good, partying like it’s 1999 while her case slow walks through the courts. Sitting in a jail 24-7 because she’s a flight risk would get her thinking otherwise – Hell, we can’t even summon up the courage to amp up her restrictions.
Because this is Canada…that’d be cruel and “we’re better than that”. Said no Chinese ever.

    1. You left out the part that because it includes a confession of guilt she would be dead as soon as she got back in China.

Any admission of guilt is the only thing that scares the chicoms.

Losing face is the only thing that motivates them.

    2. Don’t forget, Ms. Meng was also able to bring family from China back for a lockdown-breaking large indoor gathering last Chinese New Year at a very ‘posh’ (if there is such a thing) Chinese restaurant.

  6. The Bong is owned by the chicoms as are many of the Laurentian elite (think da liddle thief jean chretien). Many librano MP’s are buried in this as well. They live in fear of being outed by the chicoms and destroyed maybe even charged criminally.

If we can’t stand up to the chicoms on their human rights record there is no fear of an Olympic Boycott. Cowardice doesn’t lend itself to standing up to the bully.

  7. I would find no end in the pleasure of just one candidate pledging to expedite Meng’s extradition just to watch the head explosions of official Ottawa.

Unfortunately, we don’t have anyone with attitude on the opposition side that would dare to even suggest such a thing.

  8. Yeah, it’s too late. Canada has become a authoritarian state where the people can be manipulated by fear. When you are literally ridiculed for supporting freedom, you know you’re country is screwed. The only hope, really, lies in the central US, certain eastern European countries, and maybe India.

    1. rat, eventually hungry “white” people will not care, they will fix everything that needs fixing and will run over their own wimps to do so.

  9. Well, that was edifying.
I am sure that Blackie the running dog will diversify our democracy and maybe even turn Canada into a model of liberty, truth, and global leadership.

  10. For sure the rot runs deep but who cares? Not enough people care when the polls are favouring the leader of the Rot Band and his backup crew.
Latest news is a snap election is imminent.

  11. Expecting any moral fiber from the “Rodentia LIEberalis” political class is a lost cause…they are cut from the same cloth as the Preston Bush gangstas who invested in slave labour in the Nazi camps via the Silesian American Corporation back in the 1940s.

Perhaps when Spavor & Kovrig hang from Chinese lampposts in Beijing; the “Rodentia LIEberalis” political class might wake up; but I doubt it.

The “Rodentia LIEberalis” political class are addicted to the LOVE of MONEY and power; until one of their own get severely burned, they will continue down the wide and verdant way of corruption.

    Cheers

  12. We should have released the Chicom bitch when shit-for-brains killed KXL. Still not too late. Our justice is just as glacial and non-existent as in the US. If the Chicoms didn’t release the two hostages after that then they will never release them. Next, ban Meng’s Chicom company from doing business in Canada. Of course, the Spawn will do the opposite and continue his inherited love affair for the communist regime with Xi’s Stalinist touch.

    1. If it likely won’t get the two men released why do the thing the chicoms want instead of doing the thing that would cause grief for them?

They won’t bargain in good faith, so send her to New York to stand trial.
That’s the last thing the chicoms want happening.

      1. Joseph, nothing will happen now that the dems are in control. They will laude her and give her a bonus much bigger than Twaddels gave the islamic terrorist who kill American service people

        1. Don’t doubt that she would be.
But the spectacle of one of their beautiful people having to stand trial in the court of “inferior beings” would symbolize them kowtowing to US law (in spite of what the verdict would be).
It would demoralize the rulers and embolden their critics.

  13. Canadians knew in 2013 that Justin loved China above all else and they did nothing.

I’ve had ignorant @$$holes tell me that buying cheaply-made Chinese crap was democratising the country.

Does it look like a democracy?

I’ve had people defend the appalling one-child policy, even forcibly aborting Chinese women, because “women’s rights”.

And everyone knows that after fleecing Canadians for pensions, the Liberals will go on to work for Chinese companies.

    Canadians let this happen.

  14. Its too late for Canada and the west is done without the US and they’re led by a demented coot and the only thing he’s packing is a load in his shorts.
