  11. Nice of UNIFOR to put their name on it (sarc). Much as part of it (sadly) strikes a chord with me at present, this is more likely to be another example of the thinking that lay behind the overuse of the “nice hair” ad by Harper and crew in 2015; and be just as counterproductive.

    People may be fooled; but they are not fools and hate to be treated as such. By the end of the ad I was thinking that if the Liberals are doing this they are leaving themselves wide open for “comparison shopping” (so far as “trucks” go).

    The close with the “its just an old Harper” tag line only reminds people that the reason Harper lost was that people were tired of him; and that is ancient history now. “Because it was 2015”.

    What year is it now Mr Trudeau? And who is tired of who in 2021?

    Why should a Canadian Vote FOR O’Toole?
    (Besides he is not Justin, or Because O’Toole is the Conservative Party Candidiate)
    What policy(s) or belief makes him a better candidate?

    2. @rd It’s the lesser of 2 evils — maybe. O’Toole might even be worse although that seems hardly possible. He has little chance of defeating Trudeau anyway so it’s kind of a moot point.

      There’s very little reason to vote for O’Toole other than, as you pointed out, he isn’t Justin. Imagine Kasich or Romney running against Biden. Would you vote for (or against) one of them, or sit that one out? How would you justify your choice? I’m assuming you agree none of them are good choices.

      How he will lead Canada? What will he do to make Canadians richer and more secure?

      1. @rd O’Toole is likely going to lose, barring some very unusual events. Unfortunately, he is no Reagan, any more than George HW Bush, or W, or Jeb were Reagan. These men were who they were.

        As for the media, they are doing their part to damage Canada as they are in the US. This is not intentional for the most part, but they don’t know what they are doing.

        c. ignoring them and declaring he WOULD bring-in a carbon tax to “Save The Earth” ™, only he wouldn’t call it a carbon tax

        3) Playing Liberal-Lite as a winning election strategy
        a. it didn’t work for Scheer either

        4) Being awfully quiet about all of Little Potato’s endless $crew-ups, power grabs, gun grabs, unconstitutional maneuverings, corruption, VAST wastage of public debt and tax dollars, unending declarations of Climate Emergencies (that aren’t happening), unending denunciations of endless Canadian racism (that mostly didn’t happen) and totalitarian plans for the future (like Bills C-10 and C-36)
        a. makes me wonder what he’ll do if he gets in office

        In sum, he’s shown me nothing that’d make me want him as our leader; quite the opposite. And as you mentioned, “not Trudeau” is not much of an endorsement for PM.

O’Toole has whipped the party into voting for everything that Justin has implemented regarding climate change, immigration, covid et al, and has remained conspicuously silent on every scandal that the Justin has stumbled into, purged his leadership rivals, and demoted anyone who could possibly challenge him in the future. Standard fare for Liberals – blame Harper, but the panty-waists in the CPC will be wetting themselves in fear of being labelled as “Just like Harper”. So they will work diligently to be “more Liberal” … and lose the core vote and fail to gain any soft Liberals or NDP. They’ll lose the election. Massively.
