  1. Liberal Canadians seem more concerned about the children of the past than the children of the future.

    1. The children of now! The past is so yesterday.

As for me; I’m not holding my breath.

    1. Yeah. No “rainy days” will happen between now and then. No elections to be “fortified” through robbing descendants who have no vote.

The obvious response will be to inflate the debt away in the shadow of the Americans’ inevitable plan to do the same. Canada could not really inflate away its debt if the US dollar somehow remained sound in the face of the trillions in spending the Democrats have been doing. However, as the truism goes: “A debt which cannot be paid back will not be paid back.”

    1. Don’t worry, the billionaires won’t suffer. The crocodile of inflation will eat them last.

  2. Jao Bidin-Heiress spends America into $8T MORE in perpetual debt … and the Can. < US $ exchange rate is still below 80%. Nice work PM socks-in-puss! Now open the border so I can buy shit with my BIG POWERFUL American dollar

  3. Static Analysis, which doesn’t take into account any possible changes , says 2070…

It also assumes that there won’t be any more “stimulus” which just takes future spending and puts it into the now.

nor ever expanding graft and corruption like paying highly profitable companies to install rural internet, and giving them virtual monopolies.

    1. How about more “flu”? Rainbows and Unicorn thinking involved with this prediction to sooth the Kens and Karens out there. Mustn’t rattle the Herd or they’ll stampede over a cliff.

  4. Good time for Alberta to separate. Canada can pay us back the 700 billion it owes us over the next 10 years, then it can focus on paying its own debt down. If we stay, the costs of confederation on Alberta will only increase. Drastically.

    1. As long as Jason Kenney’s in the office of Premier, there won’t be any discussion of Alberta leaving.  Jason’s a federalist.

      1. He’s also a pocket picking socialist – almost as bad as the NDP. Those who paid their utility bills now get to pay for those who didn’t. He says, “Why are you upset? It’s not like you’re getting full penetration up your rear.”

  5. This clearly shows no serious effort being made to confront their basic problem.

Nobody in gov’t has any idea of how the world will unfold in the next 10 years, and these imbeciles are planning on not being able to balance (never mind pay down) a deficit (or debt) ever. This timeline is beyond the lifespan of most people paying taxes now. How can this be taken seriously?

If there isn’t an effort to pay this down until 1-2 generations from now, it can’t be taken seriously. I think it’s time to stop taking Canada seriously, and get with the program of dividing the country up.

    Serious.

    1. One has to believe a problem exists and properly define for any chance at a solution.

Grits see no problem with exploding debt service payments.

They use debt to enhance their power to control us.

They’ll just raise taxes on the rich.

The problem is we’ll all be rich while simultaneously poor.

The only solution is to dump the collectivist charlatans.

      1. The Liberals definition of “rich” is not the same as ours. Small business owners and lower level professional personnel are “rich”. The Laurentian Elite are not.

      2. Yeah Shamrock, We’ll be rich. My pension will be in excess of five hundred grand a year.
Of course, a loaf of bread will cost $5,999. 🙁

  6. When a business goes bankrupt it means the business goes out of business and everyone that works there is out of a job.
When a country goes bankrupt does it mean that country is out of business and everyone that works in that government is out of a job?

  7. We don’t worry about deficits here on Turtle Island. Dear Leader has promised us that everything will always be FREEEEE!

    1. Funny thing. Chavez promised everyone he would screw over the rich and all would get free stuff as did Peron a few generations past. That turned out very well.

  8. I’m reminded of the “visioning scenarios” that the senior administration at my former employer, Armpit College. The poobahs attempted to interpret the tea leaves to figure out what things would be like, say, 10 years in the future.

Personally, I think those were a complete waste of time and were simply a way of justifying what they had in mind all along.

  9. Just wondering – are they basing that assumption on near zero interest rates for 50 years?

  10. Liberals don’t care about balanced budgets, seems they are in the majority.
Trudeau is running around tossing out money like there’s no tomorrow, a tomorrow when the piper will have to be paid.
One thing for sure, when that happens he won’t be around to deal with it…..it’ll be some Conservative sucker elected to
do it and take the blame.

I don’t care for Mark Carney but he is smart enough to stay well clear of the economic shit storm and decline a run for the Liberals. Saying he supports Trudeau and the Liberals should be enough for smart people to take note and remember.

    1. Nah. It’ll always be Harper’s fault….. or Trump’s. Prinz Dummkopf will forever remain sweet and innocent.

  11. Sociopaths bribing voters with their grandchildren’s foregone prosperity is perfectly acceptable to the Eloi as they keep voting for them. Nothing destroys character and morality as well as nihilism and democracy. I’m not sure which party to the crime (voters or sociopaths) is more deserving of punishment but I suspect the sociopaths will come out better off than their Eloi in the reckoning.

  12. As long as there is no penalty for our professional politicians for over spending, then they will overspend. Our masters can use deficit spending to buy votes and it is up to future taxpayers to cover it. Not only do our politicians get reelected when they give out free stuff, but they have given themselves subsidized indexed pensions. They can’t lose! Now if for every one percent of deficit, they lost ten percent of their salary, they may rediscover financial responsibility. Alternatively if only years of surplus counted as pensionable time, we would have balanced budgets every year. Something to think about when the constitution of Buffalo is written.

  13. In a rational society, systemic debt and spending such as this..Is Treason.
    But in a Kleptocracy?
    This is business as usual.
The design is to render our children into such a state of poverty and slavery, that they will not even be able to raise the funds to flee to a free USA.
“We are from the government,we are here to help you”..
Into a a state of indebtedness and poverty so deep you can never climb out..
Government is like hemorrhoids, should be shrunken out of existence.

  14. None of these idiots ever had a sound financial plan.

Should they ever be ousted (fat chance with China deciding things), those who replace them will be charged with making some tough economic decisions and then find themselves out of a job and the Liberals back.

    And around we go!
