Update: Members of the Texas state House voted 76-4 to deploy law enforcement to track down and arrest 58 Democrat members who fled the state to break quorum to prevent a vote on a Republican-backed election bill.
So on arrival in Washington, did the Texas Dems have to quarantine for 2 weeks to avoid spreading covid? Or were they all vaccinated (with proof). And why did they not wear masks during their flight….isn’t it an FCC requirement?

The Texas assembly can strip all support personnel from the lawmakers. Close their offices and lock out their computers and phones. When they come back to no staff, no access, all support personnel fired or furloughed they will feel the pain.
Also they should look into blocking funds for election campaigns as they are not executing the duties of a representative of their constituents by this action.
I think arrest is a better first step. Too many Democrats are getting the idea there’s nothing wrong with breaking the law. After a few meet Bubba (or Miss Bubba, who identifies as female this week) their minds might change.
The Dems are protesting the Reps ramming through legislation without consulting them on the matter and demanding that the Dems in Washington ram through legislation without consulting the Reps as a fix to the problem of this outrageously non-democratic political manipulation.
In other words, “It’s Tuesday.”

By the way, have you figured out the difference between a recount and an audit yet? Just helped a mine with some audit questions this week. Such a stunt as leaving the state to prevent a quorum should be punishable by being barred from holding any public office and voting in the state for life. It is nothing less than an infantile attempt at showing contempt for the functioning of the legislature. “We might lose the vote ladies, so we need to shut down the legislature, right-on sister”. An intelligent electorate should be able to accomplish the same thing but an intelligent electorate wouldn’t have elected them in the first place.

Make it law that a simple arrest bars them from public office, retroactive to when they were first elected to any office.
