Heading for Third?

Shrinking the tent while desperately trying to split the Liberal vote and they’re losing support everywhere.

Lorne Gunter- Are Conservatives under Erin O’Toole going to face an epic defeat?

But given how much O’Toole has turned off the Conservative base (particularly in Alberta) by going back on his word on carbon taxes and adopting Liberal-lite policies on nearly every other issue, between the stay-at-home factor among Tory voters and the bleeding of support to all other parties, plenty of Conservative insiders are already predicting an epic defeat for their party.

We’re not talking about Kim Campbell territory in 1993 when the Conservatives won just two seats, but it’s possible to see them reduced to just a few dozen.

Gunter didn’t mention the slide into “woke” territory but that’s as much, or more of a turn off than the carbon tax.

  1. I’ll likely be voting for the most credible western independence candidate I can identify. No point voting diet Liberal: all the b#!!%@*t, one third the hair.

    1. Your vote won’t matter. If the independence party is making a big enough dent, your vote unbeknownst to you will magically have switched to Liberal. If there aren’t any material number of votes for the independence party, what was the point?

I don’t vote. I have more productive and influential things to do with my time. If they want me voting in my region, they’ll introduce blockchainntech that cuts out the fracknugget leftist middlemen, and records my vote in realtime, and lets me verify where it went, in real time. The fact that they won’t do that tells you everything you need to know.

“It is not who votes that counts. It is who counts the votes”.

      1. So be an invigilator and help true the vote. It takes a few hours, but it’s good peace of mind.

        1. quite so c_milner you cannot bitch if you don’t vote (at least I won’t listen to you) and if you don’t trust then work at the election and make sure it’s honest. It’s actually a good experience.

          1. You sure can bitch if the reason you don’t vote is because your vote won’t count.

          2. “You can’t bitch if you don’t vote.”

Bullshit. In a democracy you have the right to vote and the right not to vote. There is no obligation or duty.

Just because you didn’t vote doesn’t mean you don’t participate in democracy in every way. Think paying taxes here.

The old canard of ,you have no say if you didn’t vote is just that, a lie.

          3. I used to think that — that you cannot bitch if you don’t vote, but now I think you can bitch about the awful choices. It’s very demoralizing. I may be too discouraged to vote,

          4. Robert, as George Carlin once said, I don’t vote so you people who voted are responsible for the fucking mess we have. I am beginning to think he was right as my vote was squandered by liars and thieves from all parties, and the lies and socialist bullshit continues faster than ever. Fuck the vote, start matching. They all have to be turfed from Ottawa, the provinces and city governments, anything less will allow the tyranny to continue. Take off the fucking masks, shove the vaccine up their arses and lets get on with life.

        2. Nope. Must be automated. With realtime audit trail. Like your credit card statement.

And when they halt counting and send you home, and then resume counting, and the courts say that’s fine, what is the point?

          1. In Canadian federal elections it’s all paper.

You give the ballot to the guy and he puts it in the box in front of everyone working and the general public.

When they count they dump the boxes on tables and observers from the parties can scrutineer the count along with everyone working there.

            We aren’t the U.S.

          2. Trudeau wants everyone to vote by mail. Especially ghost voters. And they don’t count them on election night.

    1. hey dimwitt, Max is there, and if many of the GD fools had voted for him last time around, O’Stool wouldn’t be playing these stupid games. I think you have wanked off about stupidity one too many times while standing in front of your shithouse mirror!

      1. Hey moron I financially support Max and the PPC. Get your head out of your arse.

    2. There is here in the west VOWG the Maverick Party Federally here has been doing the groundwork and getting ready. They are back at about 15% but are getting traction. A Western Block Party. They will be running in every Province west of Ontario and the Territories plus the Yukon.
The intention is to oppose anything bad for the west, to support anything good for the west.
A strictly Western Canadian Focus. Screw Canada. Just like the BQ.
This will further damage the SHITCONS.
      https://www.maverickparty.ca/

      1. They seem to have zero groundswell support. Does anyone know they exist?

You can be sure your liberal party state media will make sure they never get elected.

      2. And they are who I will vote for Federally. MAVERICK.

Conservative Political Parties in this country really need to change their name(s) to: UniParty (Federal & Provincial), and declare they are nothing but trough feeders, have no innovative ideas & will kiss Liberal ASS on all their motions & votes …..AD Infinitum.

    3. If Max hadn’t left the Conservatives in such a huff, he’d probably be thier leader now instead of O’Stoole.

      1. quite so c_milner you cannot bitch if you don’t vote (at least I won’t listen to you) and if you don’t trust then work at the election and make sure it’s honest. It’s actually a good experience.

      2. True. But I don’t entirely blame him. I think Scheer handled him badly. In truth, Canadians are afraid of division. I think that is why they cling to the mushy middle. . . Which would be ok, if the country was not in jeopardy from the current Liberal government. I think a lot of Canadians just refuse to accept what the Liberal party has become.

        1. Scheer couldn’t handle him well. He’s a nice fellow, and I don’t mean that in a nice way.

          1. “Scheer couldn’t handle him well. He’s a nice fellow, and I don’t mean that in a nice way.”

Yeah, he wasn’t cut out for leadership, for sure. Said the same about Paul Martin…just because a guy looks and acts the part doesn’t mean he can actually do the job.

        2. It’s the back room boys that set policy and decide who the leader will be. Max was simply too conservative for the
Laurentian triangle crowd so the last minute fix was in for him to be defeated. Max knew this and probably carried
a grudge so they worked to have him gone. Scheer didn’t work out so now the plotters have their new man and he has
turned out to be a weak, two faced weasel without principles. If I have a PPC candidate in my riding I vote PPC. Failing
          that I won’t vote.

        3. There is no Mushy middle anymore. That went the way of Stephen Harper. Instead what we have now is a very large left wing, and a very weak and small right wing.
I blame the general stupidity of the Canadian electorate.

    4. After watching Chris Sky speaking at a rally in Sudbury ( open air) I dont think Bernier is squeaky clean – like the rest of the political bunch.
I will vote Maverick or Wexit – whomever is the strongest vote for the West.

        1. No a fool is one who keeps voting the same way for 116 years and getting ass raped because the ShitCons every single time are guaranteed to Blow Quebec and Atlantic Canada and say Fuck you Western Canada. Because the game is rigged and can not be fixed by voting.. PEI has the population of a town, 140,000 people yet gets 4 MP’s and 2 Senators. FFS. The game is rigged. The House always wins. Time to dismantle the house.

  2. I have already informed my MP in writing that I am not voting for him. My vote will be going to anyone who has spoken out against the medical tyranny of lockdowns and mandatory vaccines. If there is no other choice candidate for me, I will spoil my ballot. Voting for the conservatives is a vote for Trudeau.

My MP called back and tried to talk me out of it. He said the Cons in the provinces had no choice about doing what they did because Trudeau forced them and besides, the Federal level politicians have no say about the provincial level politicians. I spoke to him for about an hour. I listed all my concerns about the current state of the party. He did not change my mind.

    1. I would like to know more about the Liberals forcing lock down on the provinces — probably threatening to withhold CERB or something. I have long suspected that as I think we had Jason Kenny apologizing for the first lockdown, and then suddenly doing an about face. The current Liberal government has brought us a reign of tyranny. The public is very deceived, and the consequence will be the loss of our country and democracy.

      1. Withholding CERB? Then the provinces should withhold fed taxes, no? That shit cuts both ways.

    2. Trudeau forced them ? I would also like to hear more of Turdhole forcing the Provinces to abuse their constituents. Was your CON MP more specific on how Turdhole forced the Provincial Premiers to abuse their people ? How did Turdhole blackmail the Premiers ?

      1. Are you suggesting that Turdhole threatened to withhold healthcare payments to the Provinces during a so called “pandemic” ?….because if you have proof of this blackmail please share wth the rest of class.

        1. So my ignorant friend, you are full of shit ? You do not have proof that Turdhole threatened the Provinces just some Chretin did it in the past story completely unrelated to the suggestion that you made regarding “Turdholes “threatening the Provinces”… you’re spewing unproven conspiracy theories while calling people names, what a dipshit.

        2. Watcher … I wasn’t questioning whether or not Cretin threatened the provinces with withholding transfers, I already know that he did… However that is not relevant to the discussion, that is a strawman distraction from the conspiracy theory put forward by that arrogant douche, OZ, who says that Turdhole threatened to do the same as Cretin but without any proof that Turdhole did this.
I’m not defending Turdhole in any way, I hate the stupid Globalist bastard, but there is no proof whatsoever that Tururdhole did as OZ has suggested.
If Turdhole did threaten the Provinces by withholding health care spending if they didn’t abuse their constituents as Turdhole desired then lets see the proof that he did this and stop spewing bullshit and calling people “ignorant’ for simply requesting, proof of this statement. This topic has nothing to do with what Cretin did back in the day, that topic is nothing more then someone (OZ) attempting to deflect the conversation because they made unsubstantiated claims regrading the assface, Turdhole.

      2. Justin Burch’s MP said provinces had no choice because Trudeau forced them. Maybe he was passing the buck, but I am very surprised by the way Conservative Premier’s handled the pandemic. I do believe they were either threatened or bribed, hand I would like to know more.

        1. Ford, Palister and Kenney. Three supposedly Conservative premiers dictating like leftist loons. It has to be
either threats against them and their families or blackmail or bribery. No other explanation holds water.

      3. “Did you know that healthcare is the largest budget expenditure by far for all levels of government?”

The biggest outlay at the Federal level is Old Age Security payments. For the City of Toronto the top 2 expenses are for policing and the TTC.

    3. “…He said the Cons in the provinces had no choice about doing what they did because Trudeau forced them and besides, the Federal level politicians have no say about the provincial level politicians. …”

Trudeau, a Federal level politician who has no say about provincial level politicians, forced Conservatives in the provinces to do what they did? Is your MP my MP, Kevin Waugh, who has always seemed to me stupid enough to say something like that and not see he’s contradicting himself?

    4. “I have already informed my MP in writing that I am not voting for him. My vote will be going to anyone who has spoken out against the medical tyranny of lockdowns and mandatory vaccines. If there is no other choice candidate for me, I will spoil my ballot. Voting for the conservatives is a vote for Trudeau.”

I’ll be looking for another option too, since JWR has decided not to run again (never really liked her, but she wasn’t a Liberal or CPC).

  3. The first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem. Error O’Toole needs to be surgically removed from the CPC leadership – and now.

    1. “The first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem. Error O’Toole needs to be surgically removed from the CPC leadership – and now.”

Agreed. Trudeau will likely win again anyway (hopefully a minority) but the best thing we can do right now in my opinion is to send a clear message by voting PPC, Maverick or even independent. The CPC will know where those votes came from, and act accordingly.

It’s just too bad they can’t see the writing on the wall before it’s too late, but O’Toole just seems blind to reality…

  4. What “option” do we have to kick out a regime that’s standing by allowing our history to be erased ?
We have who we have chosen to lead the Conservatives, vote for that person/party or hand Black/Hairy/Bare Face and his crew another term to finish off this country. It’s serious business, O’Toole is not Trudeau, that is all that matters at this critical time in our history.

    1. liz, quit proving you are not a strategic thinker, you are one of the fools who voted scheep the last time, instead of sending a message and voting PPC

    2. My choice…da…da….da…….daaaaa.
      None of the above.
      I want my authorization back!
The politicians have decided to use outside agencies against my voting wishes.

      YOUR ALL FIRED!!!

    3. get the cons in and then demand a leadership convention.. Turdly is c-36.. can you live with that?

      1. No I personally can’t because half the Cons are just more shears and tools. That party is dead to me. It’s like the RINOs in the USA. Worse than useless.

    4. The best you can hope for in an election is that the least bad choice wins. The few who voted PPC are not the reason the Liberals won the most recent election. The many who didn’t vote CPC are. I’m a long way from believing the Scheer-led CPC that didn’t get elected that time would have since turned the tide in this country and saved/restored the Canada we wish we had, but as far as that election goes, that’s it. The CPC was the least bad option on offer and not enough of us opted for it, so we are living with something worse.

The Canadian electorate is mainly people who have been indoctrinated by the education system and conditioned by the media to think socialism isn’t a bad idea, even if they don’t believe socialists can actually make it work in practice, that government is what makes a country good and conservatives are mean and won’t let government make the country good, and so their default position is just split the difference and let the Liberals rule us, they mean well. That’s stupid, lazy, and ignorant, and if it can be changed, it will take longer than the rest of my life.

I think most of us commenting here are old enough that we won’t see that change. If you want to make a difference, understand that because you are going to have to commit to working for it for the rest of your life and then not being around to see if we won. Then get to work living an example and persuading people.

      1. Yes, they certainly don’t know what socialism is, but they have probably heard that it’s when everything is fair, because the government takes care of the less fortunate so we can ignore them and we can just go to work and bitch about things and come home and watch the game on tv and bitch about things some more and not do anything about it because that’s what the government is for. LIV, as you put it. Politics is a chore and anyone who likes it should be monitored carefully.

    5. “Thanks, Max Bernier voters. Message received, with a cherry on top.”

Would you prefer that we didn’t vote at all, then? Because to me, a PPC vote is a vote that *should* have gone to the CPC, but didn’t. Don’t you think they will wonder exactly why it didn’t?

For me, it was caving to the Quebec dairy cartel to keep their profits high and the price of dairy predicts 300% higher than I see in Bellingham or Blaine, Washington. That’s where Scheer lost me, right there. That’s also where O’Toole lost me, even before he started doing his best impersonation of a Liberal. You support that and you are NOT A CONSERVATIVE, no matter how loudly you bleat otherwise.

I’m sorry. I want Trudeau gone just as much as anyone else here, but I’m not willing to compromise my principles to help achieve it. Show me an alternative who is a *real* conservative and I will vote for them. The Reform Party won 4% of the vote on their very first outing, which doesn’t sound like a lot but it got the point across, didn’t it?

  5. One would expect marked surge in popularity given the widespread principled and articulate opposition that Canadian conservatives parties – both federally and provincially – have provided during not only the Covid lockdown crisis but also with respect to imposition of BLM/CRT teachings into the governmental, educational and corporate spheres of Canadian life. But perhaps I’m wrong about this…

      1. Duh. 100% pure sarcasm. As anyone can observe,
Conservatives have either been part of the problem or behaved as supine cowards, frequently both

    1. The only possible option if one wants to end the uniparty rule. I still refer to it as the (Desmarais) Familly Compact.

At best, Maverick is just another seperatist party and the Liberals will not form a coalition with them; nor will the opther uniparty. To be successful, the Maverick party has to make a credible threat of independence; that is win a Provincial election and hold a referendum. Then run federally. Even 9if they just refused to hand of equalization payments, the rest of the country will be having fits. But they are not doing that are they, they are a federal party.

      1. Yeah, and where was the Maverick Party during the Government lockdowns, never heard a peep from them.

        1. Where was Herr O’Toole who was Official Opposition. Who was the Official Opposition Leader In Canada?

          1. Agreed… but isn’t the Maverick Party supposed to be something different from the federal Con Party.
Oh’Stool is a weak coward run by Liberal henchmen… what is Jay Hills excuse?

        2. Really do not know what Jay Hills position is or was on Lockdowns. And I am not his apologist, but name a single Mayor, Councilor, Reeve, School Board Trustee or Dog Catcher in Canada or Federal MP, or Federal or Provincial MP/MLA in Canada who did speak out. Only one I know of was Drew Barnes in Alberta and Randy Hillier in Ontario.
I think they are all far more Culpable, than an unelected, Interim Leader in Alberta. And who was the Leader of the Official OPPOSITION Party in Canada?

  6. Ultimately, it needs to be recognized that there may be irreconcilable differences between Reform conservatives and Progressive conservatives. Perhaps those differences need to be accepted and respected, even embraced, by the federal Conservative Party

In the UK, the Tories and Brexit Party made a pact to act as allies by not splitting the vote in certain ridings. The PCs could run in the cities and other left leaning areas. The Reform Conservatives run exclusively in traditional Reform Party strongholds in rural Canada and smaller communities in the west.

A policy of not splitting the vote on the right and working collaboratively but separately is likely the best option.

    1. I rather suspect there was rampant voting fraud, and has been in most Western countries for quite some time.

And think about it this way: your elections management folks are government employees. Would they allow the election of a government whose platform is to cut civil service salaries by 30%, say?

Where I am from, that is called a “direct conflict of interest”.

    2. No they got all their votes in Alberta; non in Toronto or Quebec. Unless you mean vote splitting the entire country.

  7. I’ve got 2 things for Max. My vote and $100 whenever Shithead calls the election. Voting for O’Fool would send the wrong message. He seems to think he can kneel for Turdeau’s policies and his conservative base won’t notice. Someone tell the idiot that Andrew Steer actually won the popular vote. Max was Bernied out of the Conservative leadership.

    1. Max was “Berniered” out of the Conservative leadership.

      FTFY

As Kate often says, I amuse myself.

    2. He was in Calgary the other day pledging his allegiance to Alberta energy. Typical eastern politician, says one thing in Alberta, the opposite in eastern Canada.

    3. Being Albertan, I will never vote for anyone from Quebec. It will be a cold day in hell.

  8. Retribution.
What my father sacrificed five years of his life to fight, losing many comrades and suffering night sweats and terrors for the next 50 ,to defeat.
    We did to ourselves.
    Cause it’s an emergency.

Well I have watched and waited for the past 15 months, for the evidence of the “Emergency”.
For when those who clamour to hold power, decree the cancelation of all individual rights freedoms and rule of law, cause “Its an emergency”,then it had better be one.
Not being convinced,I now seek retribution.

This crisis, created by the panic or planned malice of our fearless leaders, has revealed their characters .
    Most starkly.
These are fools and bandits, unfit for any position of public trust ,unworthy to hold any power.

The Dragon,in this case, being a Corona Virus,of the common cold family.
One so novel that 80% of the population have no reaction to it.
Now thats a really new and novel disease…

In the panic and mass hysteria whipped up around this “Dread Covid”,those lusting for power have surged forward.
To “Save Us” they are more than happy to destroy us and everything we hold dear.
No action is too extreme or too invasive,as we must be saved, these are zealots of the most odious kind.

Never does doubt or logic seem to enter the minds of our superiors, for such they must be,for they know what choices we must make, even if they have to impose them with the jackboot of their union thugs.

Now,in this brief intermission of Dread Covid Theatre, we get a brief let up of the idiocy,a short time to boot them, these idiots from power and from civil society, before the coming Fall brings flu season again and they stomp us again,in their zeal and terror.

What they are afraid of remains obscure, except we can be sure that whatever it is,their words will be lies..
We had Emergency Response Plans,we allowed the spending of millions of our taxed dollars to build government agencies, designed to be ready for Catastrophic events, disaster preparedness..
    What happened?
For when the Computer Modelled “Novel Corona Virus” was proclaimed..we abandoned every step of these plans, threw out the distilled wisdom of past tragedy and plague,to destroy our economy and blast confidence in government into the Moronic zone.
15 months of “Just Two Weeks to “save” healthcare”..
Temporary,as temporary as income tax, restrictions to prevent the hospitals being over whelmed by sick citizens..
So lesson one Healthcare is unable to respond to a real emergency.
And 15 months into a “pandemic” there is still no “Health Canada” approved “Standard Treatment for Covid-19”.
    Amazing..
Yet they have “Vaccines” all kinds of them, with the amusing disclaimers,of will not prevent you catching the disease, may reduce your symptoms, may kill you,may have sever long term side effects as we have not tested them..and by the way we gave the producers of this Goo ,Immunity from responsibility..
Now that really expresses great confidence in their product..the suppliers want legal protection before our Government uses this product to “save” us.

State Religion is always a Fatally Bad Idea.
As we are seeing once again.
The hive mind is a blind instrument, their logic is as insane as they are..
consider your average government employee, the ones known to you..There is a reason they work in the bureaus..
Would you employ them if they came to you business looking for a job?

So this conglomerate of somewhat inferior persons, somehow have a collective wisdom greater than all others? The individual must bow to this “wisdom”.Or be fined, imprisoned or injected..

Sorry but a return to the status quo, is now impossible,we cannot “unsee” what we now know.
Firing all these fools and bandits is not adequate.
We must reward them for their actions.
Their stated intent,.having zero credibility and best described by Shakespeare’s take on empty noise.
Actions are the only trues we share in this age of systemic deceit.
The actions of power hungry thugs.

By their actions, the Statist Fools have shown they have no place in a civil productive society.
We can separate our affairs and declare our independence,or we can separate these parasites from our affairs.
    So few choices left.
Life is becoming so much simpler.

    1. This coming winter flu season is going to be spectacular. Others may use a different description but I’m not inoculated (nor is my ex-wife and our kids) and am expecting for others, the worst.
Also, there’ll likely be a newly emboldened #Librano majority gov’t, eager to tell everyone else how to live their lives.

If you’ll need your water heater or furnace replaced, you may want to arrange that before the other 1000 plumber/gas fitters in Calgary phone in sick for a month. I hear it’ll be cold this winter, just like the previous 8000 winters here.
      Plant a garden.
Lose those extra 15 lbs of fat.
      Stop smoking cigs.
      Become friends with a farmer.

      … and retribution

      1. Hang on to that fifteen pounds of fat while you can, you’ll need it and when you do it’ll go as it should.

    2. JR That is one of the most insightful and poignant pieces I have read in a long time. Very accurate and thought provoking. Everyone should read this. Steve O

    3. “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.”

      – C S Lewis

  9. If PPC were to form government it would still be subjected to the fact that 50% of the Canadian population resides south of an west to east line from Sudbury Ontario east!
Any western blood, sweat or treasure sacrificed for the aspirations of the PPC or Maverick or any other western protest party sadly prolongs the obvious remedy for what ails this CON-federation.

  10. As soon as the Tool embraced the man made global warming idiocy, that was it for me. I bailed.
You can never trust a leader who runs on policies that he never ran on during his leadership race.

    1. “As soon as the Tool embraced the man made global warming idiocy, that was it for me. ”

That was my third reason…the ‘trans’ bathroom BS was the second…

About the only policy he has that I agree with was his promise to repeal the Liberal’s latest round of ‘gun control’, but who knows if he would even keep that promise? Besides, the Conservatives in general have let me down on that issue for years now: their original promise was to “repeal Bill C-68” (remember that one?) but they reneged on it, figuring that killing the long-gun registry was enough (it wasn’t).

  11. I am at loose ends on where to plunk my vote. I do not find O’Toole to be a dynamic leader and don’t particularly like him but strongly feel a vote for any other party would spit the vote more. I will never never never vote for a Quebec candidate no matter what the party. Quebec is leading Canada in – a party serving in Parliament having ONLY Quebec interests, the variety of Quebec PM’s we have had “leading ” our country and favouring Quebec has been far,far too many. Have a bad taste in my mouth thinking of all those creeps.
The two bills the PMO wants to pass will totally destroy Canada and I am fearful of that.

    1. The Canada I knew, grew up in and loved has already been totally destroyed. It’s turning into a pale replica of China with the Québécois in the role of Han.

  12. Resistance is futile.
The Education System, the Bureaucracy and the LPOC & Their Media have declared the word conservative as evil and hate-filled. The majority of Canadians agree.
When even Fiscal Responsibility is attacked as some kind of poor-people hurting, misogynistic & racist permutation of Terrible Government you know the gig is up.
You may as well vote to speed up the suicidal process.

    1. Feel pretty much the same I’m writing both my MPP and MP tonight and tell them both why I’m sitting back until( if it ever happens )
people start demanding some action. There isn’t any hope until people stand up for freedom and responsibility again.

  13. You need to elect sovereigntist (not separatist!) parties locally. At municipal and provincial level. Then simply nullify the feds. Taxes are ‘donations’ given to the feds by the province, as a reward for good behaviour. Pensions are collected and managed locally (withdrawing from CPP I heard hits every single Ontarian in the pocket personally by $400 a month, if my numbers are right … Muwaahahahaha). I heard the mounties are unionised now. Well, we can’t afford them no more. Out you go. And form a local militia unit – swearing loyalty to the province.

It is quite easy to utterly nerf your federal government. Canada is a big country. Hard to be everywhere without a LOT of assistance and material support from the provinces …

If you hate what your feds are doing to you, it’s your premier’s fault. Not Ottawa’s.

    1. Makes sense but you need the majority onside in each province to wield that provincial power, and it is not there any more. Alberta is more divided than ever. The liberals and seniors were coming out in droves with talk about provincial pension and police (No RCMP? Gasp!). Now with covid, masking, vaccination (and proof of) and quarantining, Albertans are that much more divided. Oh and lets not forget the woke vs redneck sewer rats. Not to forget the systemic racists.

  14. Supporters of o’tool are exhibiting the sunk cost fallacy. We are supposed to vote for him because he was elected leader and we’re supposed to try to recover our losses by supporting the CPC.
True, we’re screwed this time, but we shouldn’t invest more in a failed concept. If the CPC can’t “retool” after the embarrassing loss, then it’s time to forget them and start clearing the space.

  15. As a Westerner and Albertan…there is NO ONE & Nor Any Traditional Party that represents our needs and wishes ..No one with the exception of the Federal & Provincial dinependence Parties: Wild Rose & Maverick.

If Albertans have any desire at all for a good and prosperous future, it will NEVER EVER happen via any of the traditional Political parties filling their faces at the Federal trough.

    Its time….

    1. Alberta will never reach its full potential within Canada. Quebec runs Canada and has been for the last 40 years and they have no interest in seeing Alberta prosper. Canada is one of the best examples of divide and conquer in the western world.

  16. Doesn’t matter who I vote for in this riding. The LPC candidate could be a mentally retarded cocker spaniel and still win with over 50% of the votes. Same provincially. So why bother?

    1. Our local Liberal candidate IS a mentally retarded cocker spaniel – Jennifer O’Connell – and she will win her seat again. So my vote goes to Max as a protest.

    2. Are you sure your votes are counted correctly? How would you know? No, I don’t trust ANY agency to do it for me.

I want to see realtime, electronic voting, where I cam see amd trackback exactly where and how my vote was counted. If I can do it for my credit card, why can’t I do it for my vote? This is an embarassing farce!

  17. Steakman….Maverick is not the answer. A TOTAL waist of blood sweat and treasure.
    What’s the definition of insanity???

  18. I don’t think Kim Campbell territory is out of reach for them. They are certainly working hard to get there.

    1. Kim Campbell went from 169 down to 2 seats. And the morons didn’t see it come. The Progressive Conservatives elected a half-whit liberal agenda leader who pushed gun control as Justice Minister. Campbell was The’Tool in a skirt.

  19. The Conservatives will be the opposition party after the next election which will be over about the time that polls close in Saskatchewan (or at least it would be if we weren’t going mail-in?). Even if every voter west of Ontario that voted Conservative last time did so again, that would not change the outcome. This is an opportunity to give the eastern power brokers and consulting twits that run the CPC a message from the West something to the effect of, FOAD. Whether or not the west is represented by Cons in opposition or Libs or NDP “representing” ridings where the majority despises them, it won’t change anything. There are libertarians that won’t vote because they believe it endorses the violence and theft of the coercive state and encourages more. At this stage in Canada, they may be right.

    1. I think there is a very likely possibility that the Bloc will be the official opposition the day after the next election. I have voted Conservative for over 40 years but a can t and won t support O Tool. He can take his carbon tax BS and shove it you know where. He stated that he and his party would not support a carbon tax and then a few months later he comes up with a scheme similar to the old Green Stamps you used to get in the grocery store. Talk about a way to alienate your base. The day after the Conservative party is humiliated in the upcoming election they need to start the procedures to have a leadership review and put Pierre Polievre in charge. This is the only way they can project a sense of relevancy and electability.

  20. There is no way in hell that Maxine Bernier is going to make a dent in the west, so if you are in the west that truly is a wasted vote.

Maxime should focus his resources in Quebec and Maritimes where he might stand a chance, otherwise he will just be hiving off votes from the Maverick.

And Maverick is our only hope at survival.

    1. No they got all their votes in Alberta; non in Toronto or Quebec. Unless you mean vote splitting the entire country.

  21. The thing is there will be no difference when the CPC loses big time. They aren’t doing the job of official opposition anyway so who cares? The dippers will be just as ineffective.

  22. You’re right, we’re not talking about Kim Campbell levels.

    O’Toole is going to zero.

He is going to achieve the unthinkable.

All you bitter clingers who just kept supporting the party, for weeks, months, years, DECADES, after it became apparent that there was no principle there; YOU HAVE WON. Take a victory lap. Soak in that admiration and applause. You deserve it. You earned it!

  23. O’Toole needs to cross floor, gives us new interm leader for election, preferably a conservative,ow Kim Campbell disaster rivalry.

  24. The phrase “Surrender Monkey” comes to mind. Michelle the surrender monkey. Does she expect to get a good interview from them CBC?

    1. I somehow ended up on her e-mail list, so I started getting her messages. I unsubscribed because she’s acts like she’s changed sides.

  25. The conservatives are not going to win. Rewarding the existing conservative MPs with a return to the trough is going to achieve what? 99% of them have proven to be the most ineffective opposition in history against the most incompetent government ever. The only thing they have proven effective at is isolating and removing any members who were effective and actually wanted to pursue conservative values. Any news outlet countering the msm is dismissed by them. I will vote Maverick this time. I do this frankly knowing it will have little effect – we can’t even get the CPC to represent our views.
Frankly I see our only avenue for change is to force our provincial governments or elect a provincial government that brings a referendum on western independence to the table. Reasonable concerns raised and efforts to have them addressed with efforts such as united we roll only end up with people being caged in a fenced area ,ignored and painted as redneck racist by the government and media.
If you want change it is going to take a lot bigger commitment than whining and complaining here. (Me Included)

    1. Yes – how badly would The’Tool be doing if Turdeau wasn’t the most corrupt and fascistic government in Canadian history? A vast majority of Canadians view him as worse than the absolute worst Prime Minister in Canadian history.

  26. FYI, anyone who talks about “vote splitting” was never a conservative, will never be a conservative, and never had principle they were not willing to abandon for a dollar.

So, you can listen to all the same people, and all the same advice, and employ all the same strategies and tactics that got you to where you stand today. Or you can admit to yourself that you have always been wrong, have always elevated the wrong people, have always chosen the wrong option, and do something different than what got you to where you stand today. Or not. Your choice.

It is not my job to convince you that everything you thought you knew was a lie. You have to figure that out on your own.

Just like you have to figure out that “from Quebec” is not a reason to vote for or against anybody. “Has vagina” is a not a reason to vote for or against anybody. “Has penis” is not a reason to vote for or against anybody. You have spent your entire life being distracted by irrelevant details. Your choice. Not mine.

    1. Exactly.
I live in Ottawa where the K-becers/French and then bilingual Anglais fuckers dominate the federal bureaucracy.
A funny aside is that northern Ontario has a lot of French speakers and they think they have some language/solidarity with K-becers and nothing could be further from the truth. Merely useful idiots.

    2. That should be one thing, if the only thing, about him that impresses you: his Quebec constituency thinks he’s not serving their interests.

  27. How is it that those in the ‘upper crust’ of that party is blind to it.
O’Toole goes around telling hisself that he is gonna win.
    Are you bloody kidding me?
Those around him including the utterly useless graduates of ‘social science’ keep telling him that he is the one.
It could be that nobody of the random members of that party gets to talk to him. It could be that those that are of different opinion, once they talk to the guy, being smitten with his ‘wisdom’, show support.
Look what happened to those that did not agree with him, had different opinion, gone.
There is so much wrong with the so called ‘Conservatives’ of the federal and Ontario that they are completely lost to actual conservatives.
At times one thinks that the difference between so called ‘Liberals’ and so called ‘Conservatives’ is only that there are different idiots running it. Other than that it’s the same bullshit in different piles.
The conservative people need a party that pays heed to those that send their spare cash to support them, if there are any left.
Let’s just point one thing, conservatives are not right wing, conservatives probably appeal to the majority of Canadians. What conservatives need to do is make arguments that are reality based and point out what’s wrong with the current cultural revolution damaging the country, not join it.
Can’t believe the Rempel woman groveling and begging for forgiveness because she thinks it looks good to some. From this perspective it looks severely bad and hopefully her exit is near.

“Are Conservatives under Erin O’Toole going to face an epic defeat?”
Yes, they are, possibly a massive, colossal, gigantic loss.
The winner is going to be the idiot that thinks socks are a position of statement.

  28. If Judy Wilson Raybould wants to come out talking she could do some damage to Bare Face and company. I wouldn’t hold my breath though.`
Conservatives are pros at eating their own, Liberals never do that.

    1. So called ‘Conservatives’ of the so called ‘Conservative party of Canada’ and conservatives are two separate entities.
So called ‘Conservatives’ are completely useless apparatchiks that talk to each other how right they are in their folly.
The so called ‘Conservatives’ talk the same talk as those so called ‘Liberals’, of the hazy and completely unknowable future.
Future can suddenly and drastically change tomorrow, in real time.
Nobody knows, though the idiot politicians they will tell you that they know, the sad part on that point is that the proletariat believes them. They can’t see past the end of their nose, though they will tell you that if they are in power they will change the world for better, tomorrow.
Today is too difficult because you have to deal with actual, real life, tomorrow is a promissory note they don’t intend to keep and would not know how to go about it.

Those actual conservatives want to deal in real issues, not what’s your gender, not what’s your color, not what’s your belief, they deal with decent government, they deal with people working, they deal with prosperity for everybody, not the ruling class.
Those actual conservatives don’t care what the ruling class wants, it is what they want and it is not ruling class.
Those actual conservatives are fed up with the ruling class.
Those actual conservatives should possibly think, how to completely neutralize the power of the ruling class.

  29. Rempel is a disgrace to her constituents. Hopefully – if she runs- she gets turfed. I used to “like” her because she was mouthing the right things, she got married to a US guy and her brains left Canada!
Big disappointment to every Albertan. Groveling was cringeworthy. !

  30. O’Toole is the product of the Canadian Forces. Neutered, scared of his own shadow, afraid to stand for anything lest he offend someone, and completely unable to defend himself. Ya, that’s who I want leading us.

    1. O’Toole is the product of the Canadian Forces. Neutered, scared of his own shadow, afraid to stand for anything lest he offend someone, and completely unable to defend himself. ”

      Whaddaya mean?

There was a fellow on here about 8 or 9 months ago who figured the facts that no’tool was an RMC grad and a former member of the RCAF were pretty Sterling qualities.

You know … just like Jean Boyle …

  31. As someone from Ottawa I’ll let “you people” from out west know what you need to do.
    1. Look to K-bec and what it does for itself and its “people”. Give them credit, that’s the blueprint for success.
    2. Vote for the party that wants to do exactly the same.
    3. Ignore any and all federal parties and, if possible, hurl figurative feces at them every chance you get.
    4. Declare Independence.
    5. Take in Buddy once he retires.

  32. Really? The People’s Party? Did they even try to think this through before coming up with something out of communism 101? I could think of a dozen better names off the top of my head.

  33. As a libertarian I liked Max in the CPC. It’s not often a candidate with libertarian leanings gets elected in Canada and especially quebek.

That said, Max overplayed his hand. He felt a sense of entitlement and in his anger blew his chance. Politics is a blood sport and Max took it in the shorts.

He is now a spent force incapable of winning in his own home town.

The nature of libertarians rarely translates into political success in party politics. The concept of a ‘libertarian party’ is incongruent.

Max has nothing more to offer. Go ahead and vote for him and give him your hard earned money but it will lead to nothing.

  34. Hey, if you strategize, plan and do everything possible in order to lose the next election like the Con Party are doing ( again ) then this bit of news is good news.
The Con Plan is playing out just as the executive of the party planned, why can’t people see that?
    Cons want to lose.
If you have Liberals at the top of your Con party telling you what Liberal policies to impose on your Con party then it doesn’t matter that you call your party, “Conservative”.
The Liberals who run the Con Party are assuring another Liberal/Bloc/NDP/CCP Government, just as they planned.
The Con Party are actually bigger and more profound liars then the Turdhole Party. This country is a one party State, just as Peeair designed… it doesn’t matter which pile of dogshit you vote for you’re going to get a pile of dogshit regardless.

  35. “Heading for Third?”

Yes, without question. For several reasons.

    1. OToole will be heading for his first election as party leader. Canadians NEVER vote for a non-Liberal leader for the first time as potential head of government. Not in the 20th or 21st centuries. He will be rejected just as thoroughly as Andrew Scheer was.

    2. The traditional Tory base doesn’t matter in Alberta or Saskatchewan. Canadian federal elections are won or lost in the 905 region. The rest doesn’t matter.

    3. Max Bernier is irrelevant. At most the Peoples Party of Canada is a fringe party attracting a tiny fringe of voters grossly outnumbered by even the hopeless Green Party of Canada, let along anything more significant. So don’t waste your time tub-thumping for Max. By supporting him and his lost cause, the only thing you achieve is making the Liberals’ government that much larger by vote-splitting.

    4. The only relevant political question these days is when will Blackface hand over the government and to whom: Freebase or the Bankster? Politics now is about the internal struggle within the Liberal Party of Canada for who will be the designated successor when Spawn moves on.

  36. The CPC has made no serious effort to renew themselves in over 10 years. I am in a CPC riding and voted for their candidate as I knew him personally and liked his thinking. That said i told him I was voting for him and not the party. I also have told him that I won’t be doing the same this time. I will vote Maverick and if not an option it will be Max.

To be fair to Max he stated that the east will not take the West seriously until we actually do something in the way of asserting our will. We are about to go into another federal election and AB hasn’t even had a vote on independent policing and CPP. At least Moe saw the writing on the wall in his last provincial election. I was with Reform in the beginning and it was amazing how fast the West joined in.

I agree with a previous poster that federal elections are BS now adays. Focus on separatist provincial parties.

  37. Look folks, here’s the cold hard facts. We are where we are because the vast majority of the Canadian electorate doesn’t have the stomach for self-reliant conservatism, the balls to demand liberty, or the backbone to stand up for either.

Accept it. Take care of your own.

  38. A short hop into our future.
Tonight on multi execution TV,Skynet and pay per view, command performance “Madame Guillotine Sings”.

Cycles, human affairs go in natural cycles just like every other life form on this planet.
We are watching fat and lazy collapse into mean and hungry, horribly predictable and seemingly unstoppable..
    Because?
“This time it will be different”.
The last time “The wrong people were in command”.

And the Lords of the Copybook Heading come around again..

    1. (That’s Kipling, Gods of the Copybook Headings JR is thinking of. Any of you who don’t know it should look it up.)

      1. Tooner,
Re Kipling, That Poem, “Gods of the Copybook Headings”, is so amazingly relevant today, yet it was written in 1919. For those where the term “Copybook Headings” doesn’t compute, in the time around the 1919 era, Copybook headings were printed sheets of lines on paper, with simple basic facts in a sentence, in cursive, as the heading. The idea was for schoolchildren to write out those headings repeatedly in cursive, on the lines below, to practice not only cursive writing, but to cement the basic truthful fact into the brain by repetition. The copybook headings were simple yet real truths, such as, “Water will wet you”, “Fire will burn you”, “Two and Two make four”, “Stick to the Devil you know”.
        My favorite lines are,
        ” They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed, they sold us, and delivered us bound to our foe,
and the Gods of the Copybook Headings said, “stick to the Devil you know.”

This Poem should be required reading for anyone who can actually think for themselves!

  39. The Confederation of Canada is over.

Western provinces need to elect governments that have the balls to make a Universal Declaration of Independence.

Confederation never will work, never has worked.

Let the eastern bastards freeze in the dark.

    WEXIT!

    1. “WEXIT”
      Dream on, William.

At the risk of repeating myself, the vast majority of Albertans are no different than their shrinking violet cousins in Trawna, Vancouver, or Ottawa. They don’t have the stomach for self-reliant conservatism, the balls to demand liberty, or the backbone to stand up for either.

Accept it. Take care of your own.

      1. Jamie, agreed. WEXIT is a joke as long as Alberta lacks its own provincial police force. Separation is achieved only by controlling the folks with all the guns. (This was obvious from both the American and French Revolutions.) As long as the provincial police in Alberta/Saskatchewan are controlled by Ottawa, western separation is a dead letter.

And you are quite right about shrinking violets. How is Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi any different in any particular way from the Ontario politician of your choice? Lots of Calgarians voted for him after all.

      2. JM can you name any other English Speaking area in Canada, that has legally registered Independence Parties. Yah it may not be significant in the eyes of experts like yourself. But 1st steps at least have been taken. The journey has began, and the numbers are growing.
What have you done besides being servile?

  40. Exactly William.
Those who get invested in and or run for the Maverick party (led by a man that can’t point to anything Reform accomplished that has had a long term impact) are no different than any lib, con or whatever that measures success only by winning a seat.
And a nice pension. That’s the whole point.
    Best not take the bait.

    1. ivbinconned,
are you referring to Jay Hill?
For he is honest, there was nothing accomplished by Reform.

Other than the realization that reform of this Kleptocracy ,by peaceful methods is impossible.
This is the “legacy” of Reform.
We tried the institutional route and we remain slaves to a State ruled from Eastern Canada.
Now we seek a better way.
But that trade off is not there yet.
The ease and comfort we loose,to fight a “future loss” while it is easy,is too abstract for most of us.
So we will elect Justine and The Children’s Cabinet while watching them run us into Barbarism..
Those who have never seen it,seem convinced it cannot be real.
So “this time it will be different” as they seek Chaos.

Old Squeaky and His “The West Wants In”,was a valuable lesson we had to live and learn.
The enemy within is far more destructive than those outside our borders.

Now we have been treated to the Dread Covid Theatre,it is a little harder for Canadians to deny the path we are on..
But I have faith in our skills.
Self deception and denial ,this is the Canadian Way.

We can only look to ourselves and prepare accordingly.
Invest in base metals and the means to accurately project them.

  41. “There’s a monument that stands at the Alamo, its there not because they won…but because they fought.”

  42. There is ZERO utility in wasting your time, and also legitimizing by your participation, any election in a Western country now. Zero.

I suggest boycotting elections, and stating why you are boycotting them (lack of election trackback and vote confirmation) is actually a far more powerful exercise of your political rights.

Let Trudeau prance about having won just 36% of 20% and carry on like he is legit…

    1. Minimizing your tax contribution ,preferably to negative values, could be a patriotic duty?
Without representation at any level, trapped in a Genocidal State, which is Systemically Racist and blah blah blah..
Well? How can any righteous citizen contribute to that?
Ethically,to do so is to condone the murderous(According to Justine) regime..
One of the lessons of the Mass Hysteria and draconian Lockdowns, has been how little one can get by on.
And with the ever increasing Tax Theft, the more pointless a high wage income becomes.

take a lesson from Mr Trust Fund Wisdom
      Become a small business.
Because all small businesses are really just tax cheats…
And that idiot is still PM..

  43. Had to look up the date on the Michelle Rempel Brown nosing tweet. Though5 it was when Kellie Leitch was running for CPC leader. Sounds like something Rona Ambrose would say. At the end of the day, they are all the same, oink, oink. They pat each other on the back for that good performance and off they go. Tax Payers are just piggy banks. Dumb or evil, or both.
