  1. There are only two kinds of humans. Those who believe governments are looking out for their personal interests and well being. And those who think.

    1. Don’t give them any ideas!
Horgan will use this as another opportunity to inflict more regulations on those evil awful landlords. Mandatory AC , here we come.
“If It Saves Just ONE Life!”……

    2. Norman once announced that anyone of his followers on twitter who called Trudeau a “traitor’ would be blocked by him. Not sure what happened because of a comment I made about DeBlasio had me banned for life!. But he was deminished in my eyes.

      1. The Spek is a your typical Boomer. He had a lifetime of a chance to say and do things that would have helped preserve the Canada we once knew, but, Boomer has to Boomer.

  2. BC is leading Canada in heat wave deaths. The province is basically Portland, OR with glaciers. Same lunatic Cultural Marxist inhabitants plus the influence of the Chicoms and PLA is off the charts as they have bought up half of Vancouver and you have CCP sympathizer as PM in Justin Bieber Truediapers in Ottawa. Can it get worse? Probably.

As an American that admires a lot about Canada and its history I am not happy about all this anymore than Biden/Harris ruining our country at roughly the same rate.

The major difference is we have a Constitution and we have state governors that give the middle finger to Wash DC a lot more potently than your provincial premiers do to Ottawa. That will be what saves us along with our 2nd amendment. Biden can’t nuke all of us.

    1. Canada has the notwithstanding clause. And in addition, the SCoC has decreed that Provinces in Canada DO have the legal right to secede. Can you say the same about US states?

      1. Ultimately it boils down to whether or not Canadians are willing to stand up for their rights and counter the misinformation and totalitarian agenda, Most Canadians seem to just want to look down at their shoes, rather than stand up for the country. Seriously, my husband is dialoging with some of his cronies via email. They realize a destructive myth is being pushed, but it’s ” now is not then time. . . we’ll fix it later or Well, if they are unhappy about commemorating John A., we can remove some of the statues. Complete wimps in my view. Anything to avoid controversy.

        1. LindaL, you nailed it right there.
          If not now, when?
Oh, but let’s avoid controversy at all costs.
In short… sound and fury, as usual.
          Not me, though.
And I mean it. I drink whiskey with John A. Now.
Encourage your husband to dialogue more forcefully.
          Peace and stand up.
I do and it makes a local difference.

      2. Maybe we do have a notwithstanding law but…..which Premier has the gonads to use it?
        Not this carpetbagger in ALBERTA!

      3. I’m hoping the events of the past few years have opened your eyes to the fact that whoever controls the guns controls the “constitution” and if that were not so, then at least we could make paper airplanes out of it.

    2. As an ex-maritimer who now lives in BC(50) years. Khaniduh! now disgusts me.. I see SkunkfaceRatonhead, has cleaned himself up. Just in time for OnlyQueerbecDayCounts..Polishing his ButtsHole for the first pride day of the summer!. I despise this AssHole with all my being!.. c-36 come get me.. You fuck!.

      1. ButtsHole for the first pride day of the summer!. I despise this AssHole with all my being!.. c-36 come get me.. You fuck!.
How dare you expect me to read that twaddle on Small Dead Animals.
Send yourself an angry email instead.

  3. Some members of the #climatecult want to ban AC because it causes globull warming.

      1. Yup. That’s just what Fort St. John needs right now.

Now if the treaty had been violated for so long, how come none of the natives said anything?

    1. They should be rejoicing that the apocalypse is happening sooner than expected.

  4. Shut down all AC in all government and education system buildings.
Including all the CBC buildings and offices.
Do it to save Greta’s childhood.
And next winter turn the heat down to 10C in all of those buildings.

      1. My professional recommendations… more professional than Dr. Fauxci …

        Find shade
        Drink plenty of fluids
        Minimize movement and exertion

        1. Ah yes it worked in the old days .
Question is, is it the people who’ve been ” vaccinated ” that are dropping like flies in this heat wave ?
          Reduced tolerance for everything ?

          Asking for a friend.

          1. “is it the people who’ve been ” vaccinated ” , Excellent question Mr Bosley!

    1. There isnt a politician there. Turd is at Harrington Lake and everyone else at home. “Working” virtually.
What a joke this country is!

  5. We need to get back to a more prominent self-responsibility foundation, governments are not really tasked with keeping people cool or preventing them from sneezing.

A lot of these things can be managed by intelligent individuals acting in their own interests. Government should be about building roads and infrastructure, not keeping people comfortable. That’s up to the individual.

It is stinking hot here, we have baths and cold water taps. That’s the answer, not getting Premier Horgan to hold our hands through the worst of it. This seemed to be his response too until the worrywarts called him on it.

    1. It’s amazing isn’t it, thought the same thing as well, people can take a cool bath or shower, or hang at the mall all day as well, take an AC Taxi, or Handydart there. Any number of things to do to beat the heat.
You can’t fix stupid, and unfortunately, almost 500 stupid people died from overheating.
We shouldn’t be surprised, the obedience of the populace, and need to be instructed of same, has become abundantly clear during COVID. A sad country of sheep.

      1. Dan in your stupidity you don’t understand not everyone is as mobile as you dream. I think in my Moms condo is a lot of seniors. Mom puts a damp cloth at the back of her neck but just taking a cool. Shower only temporary relieves. What do you do for the other 23.75 hours of the day?

Don’t be ignorant, heat kills just as much as the cold.

        1. What The Fuck! REALLY??
You know there’s this little rubber thingy called a plug:
Insert in bathtub drain. Run cold (or whatever is cool comfort zone) water into tub. Jump (ok, immerse self) into said vessel. If ambient conditions become uncomfortably heated, turn on cold water tap to mitigate!!!
Can nobody even think any more? Jeez.

      2. Yikes Dan…..
We are not talking about able bodied people….we are talking about shut-ins and the elderly who have zero choice. Many without any support from families or friends. Heat does awful things to people. I’m in SK and my cousin and partner in North Vancouver, mid 80’s no a/c. I booked them into a hotel since Sunday. It was 35C in their house. They have support, many don’t.

Extremely myopic view. Shame on you.

        1. HANDYDART.
          TAKE TO MALL.
          STAY ALL DAY.
          COLD BATHS.
          Not hard to do
Or maybe Nannystate is the solution. So it seems here with some SDA dwellers. Trudeau must be rubbing off on some of you!
Their deaths are a tragedy, but, they had choices and unfortunately made poor ones.
          That’s life.

          1. All caps! Nice !
It’s got zero to do with the Nanny State…it’s looking after the elderly band people that can’t look after themselves….even taking a HandyDart to the Mall. A lot of these people don’t have a choice.

You got a sad view of life.

Now run along and go fuck yourself, because no one else will.

            Cheers

      3. Wet tee shirt and a fan work well. Still, it is concerning for those affected and not a good sign about possible earth changes.

  6. That’s because governments are good for nothing except ruling and taxation..

  7. My apartment complex is run by a land development company. The founder handed it over to his son about 25 years ago and Junior decided that, by hook or by crook, he was going to make more money than Daddy.

One way the kid did it was to cut back on what he regarded as unnecessary expenses. That included turning off the air conditioning in our building, such as it was, after it had been used for at least 20 years. Then air conditioners that some tenants installed in their windows were banned under the phony excuse that they might damage the window frames. (Uh, no. Those AC units were around for at least 20 years as well, and they didn’t appear to be a problem during that time.)

The result is that with heat waves like what we have right now lead to a stifling environment. It’s hot, there’s hardly any fresh air (let alone any being circulated from outside), and nobody can get a decent night’s sleep.

All of this is to squeeze an extra buck or two out of everything and to convey the image that our complex is up-scale in order to attract moneyed tenants, particularly those from a certain country that a certain national leader has an undying “admiration” for.

    1. BADR …. get one of the floor air conditioning units that has a dryer hose exhaust out the window …. easy if your windows are sliders (sliding doors work too). My son has one and it dropped his room to 17 C Tuesday night when he fell asleep with it running and set for 17. I told him to set it for 21 or so since it doesn’t cool anymore at the low setting.
Anyway they work and don’t hang out the window.

      1. It’s an idea. Thanks.

I’ve been managing with what I’ve got. My windows and door are open, so there’s sometimes a bit of circulation. I sometimes take a shower later in the day or before going to bed.

  8. 500?
I will return to this amazing “Factoid” in 3 weeks.
As that is the usual time it takes for :”The Rest of The Story” to filter out.
BC has done a fine job of creating an endless supply of the clueless and helpless,so it is possible they had a couple of thousand too stupid to get out of the sun and too inept to avoid heatstroke..
However because this is a “Narrative Meme”,I hold the odds of any truth being includes as about 999:1.
    So I wait,we will see,first are there 500 dead?
Then ,what did they actually die of?
For the Cult of Calamitous Climate has made it plain”Facts? We don’t need no stinking facts”.
Just as they replace actual data with model truth..
After the last 15 months of non stop deceit,Show me the bodies!.
For Government Words have no value.

    1. Ronald Regan quote ” The most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

      1. Here in Canada, pour me, it would be, “Do you know The Ponce has kids?”

        Another Trudeau in the pipeline?
        Pull it.

  9. “Ultimately it boils down to whether or not Canadians are willing to stand up for their rights and counter the misinformation and totalitarian agenda”.

Perhaps a little off topic, but relevant to the above from LindaL – Here on Vancouver Island,I was in two major grocery stores, plus a Shoppers Drug Mart today, the first day of Bonnie Henry’s ‘mask optional’ public health order. At least 98% of people are continuing to mask up, despite only 44 new cases in a population of 5.4 milllion.

I have to conclude they like it. Stockholm sheep.

    1. The answer I usually hear is: “But if it keeps at least one person ‘safe’……”

    2. Yes, just ventured out and agree, the sheeple are plainly in DEEP PARANOIA.
I happily ventured into Walmart, MickyDs and Petrocan, sans mask.
      Canadians are pathetic

      1. Same here. Safeway and A&W. Evil eye from all the maskers but the staff never batted an eye. The gas jockey dudes were maskless and smiling their asses off.

    3. I don’t care if other people wear masks…most of them are morons who can’t for themselves. As soon as I can discard the face diaper, I will. But I live in Ontario so it will likely be next spring at the earliest before we’re allowed to do that here.

    1. vinnie, both. GOVERNMENTS WERE, ARE, AND CONTINUE TO BE THE BIGGEST DANGER THE PEOPLE FACE.

      1. I dunno.
Seems to me the biggest obstacle Canadians face is staring back at them in the mirror.
A weak, cowardly people, blessed with every advantage, determined to give it all away with nary a whimper.
A people who will be forever remembered, particularly by their progeny, as the most useless generation in history.
        Yep. That’s you.

  10. The underlying assumption is that it is somehow the role of the government to be protect people from the heat? It is assumptions like that that have landed us where we are.

  11. Oh man. I had to stop reading. A few people, with brains, saying the obvious; plan, be responsible, use common sense, care for your own families.

    Mostly just pathetic whiners.

It is too hot in your grandmother’s dwelling? Go there, and move her somewhere else. It is not anyone else’s job.
Landlord shut off the A/C in your building? Why didn’t you renegotiate your rent when the service level changed.

BC voted for the leaders they have. It is a simple fact, that shutting down reliable power generation, is going to cause problems down the road. People are going to suffer because of that. Either they learn from their suffering, or they suffer indefinitely.

Weak and irresponsible people, create hard times.

You want the hard times to stop? People must become strong, and take responsibility. The longer you shield them from the consequences of their own bad decisions, the longer the hard times go on.

Now call names, because that will fix all your problems. Logical fallacy is always the answer. If you want hard times to last forever, anyway.
