Unprecedented Increase

Dr. Roy Spencer

Secondly, since we don’t have good global energy imbalance measurements before this period, there is no justification for the claim, “the magnitude of the increase is unprecedented.” To expect the natural energy flows in the climate system to stay stable to 1 part in 300 over thousands of years has no scientific basis, and is merely a statement of faith. We have no idea whether such changes have occurred in centuries past.

  1. Many zealots will make similar claims about rising mean global temperature (itself a very dubious metric) claiming that it’s not the absolute rise (which is trivial) but the rate of rise which is unprecedented and therefore so dangerous. My response to that is to ask them exactly what was the rate of rise of the mean global temperature between 2021 BCE and 1850 BCE. As usual, I’ve never had a useful response.

  2. I ask an even simpler question: What temperature is the earth supposed to be? So far nobody has been able to answer that question.

    1. I prefer the temperatures found in the Triassic Age. Much warmer and CO2 levels around 1300-1700 ppm. Big plants, big critters.

  3. I ask an even simpler question:

12,000 years ago there was a 1-mile thick slab of ice over what is now Edmonton. What caused it to melt?

A supplementary question is: why is that ONLY man-generated Co2 is cited as the culprit; why is it that the massive nuclear plant we call the sun never acknowledged as a factor in climate change.

  4. Their Infer-o-meter will output whatever response they need, in order to support the results they want…. no science required… but lots of scientism.

  5. There is more certainty about the ‘climate’ of the last thousand years than next month’s weather. Why ?

    1. Because weathermen now call themselves climate scientists, ignoring the fact climate is the continuous function of weather.
