  1. Any attempt to utilize zero percentage from hydro carbons has to maximize hydro electricity to cover the gaps. The use of wind and solar creates massive pollution to nature and visually that it is intolerable. Electricity producers should be paid only for the minimum production they can guarantee at all times. Anything else is useless.

    1. There is one obvious solution, reduce demand. If one would read what the gov’ts, NGOs, and agencies are actually saying they are quite open about it. You simply won’t get the energy you want, therefore they don’t have to supply it.

      Net zero means that you suffer and they enjoy. It all balances out.
      You will NOT have your current lifestyle anymore. Read the Nemeth Report from the province of Alberta’s Allan inquiry, it lays it all out in their own words.

      1. PG&E has been PUNISHING energy use … rather than SUPPLYING energy to use for decades now. We pay a tiered system that punishes peak-use (4p to 9p) with usurious rates. PG&E pays $tens of millions in advertising to scold against peak energy use. We are being hosed and treated as though we should live like third worlders and $$Pay$$ for the “privilege” of living in the First World.

    3. The sell of “spasmodic energy” * is “nameplate”. The delivery is “capacity factor”.

      Wind is selling you a 100 hp vehicle that actually delivers around 30 hp. If you bought that as a vehicle you would resort to lemon law when you found out.

  2. Wow. Morons that don’t comprehend the difference between a Gigawatt and a Gigawatt-hour are making decisions that effect the entire group.

  5. I just started reading the article and one of the first things I noted was the use of Gigawatts and not Gigawatt hours regarding battery storage. We have an Airstream trailer which we’ve traveled the content with and use a solar panel on the roof for dry camping in the south-west (lots of sunshine). I’m always aware of the 80 or so useful amp hours of 12 volt power we have (50% of battery capacity) and monitor usage accordingly.

    Not only will electric cars be added to the mix, I believe California is in the process of banning natural gas for home heating and cooking so this will also have to be taken into account.

  6. Most people do not understand energy, as exemplified by the regular error of confusing power units with energy units. This is understandable, but also disasterous when some of those same people are making major decisions about future energy sources and consumption for everyone.

  8. One of the green’s solution to the variable nature of wind / solar is to build in excess generation capacity.

    BUT

    150% of zero is still zero. IE, if the wind is not blowing at night you are SOL.

    I guess this is why math is declared to be racist.

    Whats the problem?
    The budget will balance itself.
    I have a solution.
    Seeing as how “Government” is so concerned about energy usage leading to Catastrophic Climate.
    We shall shut down all government offices,sell off all their vehicles and banish their residents..
    This will stop CAGW in its tracks.
    For Government is the source of massive waste,destruction and misuse of energy.
    As a bonus,the phoney Sky IS falling Crisis of Carbon Dioxide feeding more plants,will also be over.
    As it is entirely a creation of the Bureaus of Theft and Corruption.

    That kool aid includes the ‘belief’ that Co2 produces micro particulate matter that is causing more and more underserved ‘communities’ children to develop asthma. If you don’t embrace a “clean, green” future … then you HATE ‘communities of cullller’ … then you are a RACIST!!

  13. Well the elephant in the room when you come to Zero Carbon is 7 plus BILLION People on earth have to agree to die slowly of starvation. And I think the Hoi Polloi have gotten the voters to agree.
    Zero carbon means all food will have to be produced, and delivered without fossil fuel. No coal fired trains or steamships.
    Basically 1820 were it was human muscle and animal muscle power and wind power for sail. To produce and deliver food globally for 7.9B people.
    Fossil Fuel provides the energy for all the machinery to produce and deliver the food globally in the volumes necessary for life.
    Fossil fuel provides the fungicides, pesticides, fertilizer and herbicides to get enough food grown to feed these masses.
    If you can no longer use fossil fuels, over 7B have to die.
    And still the idiots vote for this, vote for slow starvation in there Green Fever Dreams.
    Like Kate has said many times. “THEY WANT YOU DEAD” You useless eating SOB.

  14. What no math? Quelle surprise. CAGW rent seekers, corrupt politicians and other innumerate collectivists have been literally picking numbers out of the since day one of this debacle, over 20 years ago, with none of their climate disasters borne out.

    In science they call that a disproved hypothesis. But a faulty theory suddenly became fact to facilitate failed scaremongering.
    Anything and everything can be attributed to non anthropogenic causes, like solar cycles, ocean currents and major winds.
    Zero evidence, just belief with plenty of brainwashing by the cynical self-appointed ruling class, never elected, never truthful.
