Buy a horse. You may need one someday.

Generally people think roadways when the topic is infrastructure spending. But if Shiny Pony has anything to say about it, such projects may be consigned to the environmental dustbin.

Ontario’s proposed new mega-project to build a highway looping around the northwest of Toronto has been designated by the federal government for special environmental scrutiny.

The federal government says the provincial project, already facing opposition, needs additional environmental oversight, a designation that will slow the massive construction project or, opponents say, kill it altogether.

Two days drive to get across the GTA? A small price to pay to protect the spotted burble frog:

….this project may cause adverse direct or incidental effects on federally-listed species at risk….

“cause adverse direct or incidental effects”

    i totally concur…

“Toronto police are investigating a drive-by shooting
that took place on Highway 401 in Scarborough
    Monday night.”

  2. Ha Ha Ha they applauded when he killed pipelines looks good on the eastern commie rats. I may even vote Liberal so Trudeau can kill off Canada faster.
See Trudeau knows that without Line 5 those eastern pukes need shoe leather not roads. Lets see if they applaud paying world price for oil.
Baby Doc Trudeau is so smart.

  3. Maybe two dozen wildlife overpasses at a couple of million each will work. That would be more overpasses than we have over our crappy roads in Manitoba.
But that’s ok, never mind the roads and the whole social contract thing – we have an ever growing dependent class who eat food and sleep a lot. And vote, most importantly.

  4. In the late 80’s drove from Scarborough to Downsview on the 401 up the Allen to the base. Took about 25 minutes, each way.
Except on long weekends. Getting there on the Sheppard buses was nearly two hours. How long would that take now?

  5. Horses for you lot. A chauffeured limo for me. Don’t you know who I am?

  6. I’d rather have spotted owls than more highways, and if we stopped importing people from the third world we wouldn’t need more roads. I don’t want my tax dollars building infrastructure that is only needed by our replacements.

    1. Exactly. I’d love to take a horse to work or the grocery store. Heck a mule or donkey would be just fine. But the Ass keeps letting in 1/2 a million every year. Lets see him do the same in Montreal.

  7. I guess Morontonians will just have to buy a bus pass. Voting selfishly (and stupidly) SHOULD have consequences, and for once, in this case, it does.

  8. “this project may cause adverse direct or incidental effects on federally-listed species at risk….” One could hope that would include the Liberal voter . . . but I won’t hold my breath.
