    1. It won’t be my hearse per se … but I expect the last vehicle my cold dead body is seen motoring around in, will be my Land Rover Defender … tooling around my 35 acres. Said Defender and 35 acres TBD.

  1. Thank you Prince Philip for your long service in the quest for peace and prosperity for all of us.
    Rest well.
You were loved and not be forgotten.

It was a great pleasure to know you in this life.

Now you can tell your enemies to fuck off…

      1. Me too.

Not sure RIP is the correct salutation for the Prince … more like Rest in snarky, snippets of truth and insult. As Harry Truman reportedly said, he never gave anyone “Hell” … he just told them the Truth … and it sounded like “Hell”.

    1. +++++++++++++++++++++++/\ JoJo.

Met him once – shook hands – listened to him.
I fully Respected this 1st CLASS Human Being.
      Presence Presence…incredible.

      One of history’s GREATs…

      RIP Prince Phillip

  2. … this was the first collective action – the expression – of a civilized society that the world has witnessed, since the start of the Pandemic.
Watched or noted with remorse in Hong Kong, no doubt – a display that the CCP leadership could only dream about.

    That’s the gold standard, IMO

  3. RIP Prince Phillip.
His life’s accomplishments are exemplary and hopefully some will realize life isn’t all about themselves.

  4. Prince Phillip: the second-most valuable member of the Firm, and a breed of quality gentleman simply not made anymore.

    Godspeed sir, and thank you…

  5. I have never been a fan of the monarchy or the royals but as one human to another – Rest In Peace and God’s speed.

  6. Sorry, but only an elitist poseur spends 17 years custom-designing a Land Rover hearse for their own funeral.

    1. I think if you examined the traditional method, appreciate that at 82 you might not think your gonna last very much longer, and grew a pair, you might see this as a salt of the earth sort of thing. Barring that you might want to read a bit about him. It was a magnificent, patriotic petrol head gesture.

    2. Only a deliberately obtuse, petty and mean spirit would refuse to understand that there was going to be a “grand fuss” at Philip’s funeral, whether he liked it or not. It is entirely normal for people to have some idea regarding how they wish to be sent off, and Philip has used his funeral for one last gesture of respect for the serving men and women with whom he had so much in common, and an iconic symbol of the nation that he has served for so long.

As for “spending 17 years….”. More like a couple of hours over that time….. a time that saw him continue to serve while most of his (living) contemporaries we’re taking it easy. It’s a stretched Landrover. What’s to design?

  7. No idea who came up with a cannon shot followed by a single church bell, but it worked really well.
