A church in southwest London has accused the Metropolitan Police of “brutally exceeding their powers” after officers shut down a Good Friday service for allegedly breaching coronavirus restrictions.
Worshippers at the Christ the King church, a Roman Catholic place of worship in Balham that caters to the area’s Polish community, had been marking Easter when police broke up the service at 6pm.
Footage from the Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion service showed officers walking up to the pulpit and tell worshippers to disperse, warning they faced £200 fines or arrest for breaking lockdown rules.
Yup, it’s those “long weekend” worshipers again.
Let’s see the police pull the same sort of stunt at a mosque. I’m sure they’d get away with it and the MSM would be in agreement, right? (Uh-huh……)

I never understood the Gordian complexity of the US system.
Periodically I’m handed a crappy golf pencil and put a 19th century emojiiX in a circle for someone who I neither like nor trust, (yet who will still manage to deeply disappoint me). I put the ballot in the box and my neighbor says; “have a nice day”.
Of course our federal government has identified the terrible weakness of our system, you know to enable voter participation, and break what isn’t broken.
To be fair to the US system in Canada I don’t vote for the Sheriff, dog catcher, or coroner. Our permanent state guarantees that I don’t have to trouble myself with such decisions, the Crown provides.

Remember that a revolution is never carried out by a majority of people….it ALWAYS falls to a small few who are die-hards…and are able to sway enough folks to follow them to the death (in a lot of cases). Canada has NEVER been peopled by die-hards…the first White inhabitants were the conquered French Quebecois…the second set of White inhabitants were the losers of the American Revolution (and those two “founding” European populations fought each other politically and culturally for over a hundred years–it’s still going on today).
That’s a rather poor view of Canadian history; did you go to high school recently?

I was heartened and impressed by both the Polish pastor in Calgary and the patient pastor of GraceLife Church – two different approaches, but both effective.
OTOH, not so impressed with the RC church in England. Would like to have seen a huge chorus of “leave our church” from a congregation firmly seated in their pews. Make them drag you out.
