  1. Part of the problem is that democrats have never had real jobs, nor businesses. They have no idea how the private sector functions and they are rather, stupid idiots to boot.

The free market decides what a job is worth, not a politician. That is a cosmic rule.

Be prepared for four years of utter insanity and unbelievable damage to what’s left of America.

    1. Even if they’ve never run a business, they can figure out how a company functions by reading an annual report and examining its financial statement. Compare that firm’s assets and liabilities. Figure out its debt to equity ratio. Look at what a company spends its revenue on, including wages. Does it make a profit or does it have to dip into its cash reserves to get by?

But that means looking at numbers. That would be hard to do for someone whose mathematical abilities are severely taxed when they have to count beyond 3.

        1. And let me guess why three….. Because they’re busy showing one of them to the rest of us?

    2. With you there, went from RCAF Captain to dogface in the private sector. Picked up a good skill stack trying different things.
Worked, failed, paid the price, and then some, but stuck to my learned leadership, and unknown quality on civvie street.
Through toil and tears, and yes some breaks, I own a reasonably successful small business mostly managing other businesses.
But, it is a learned skill, it’s acquired, not conferred. There’s no university course for it. You have to to live it, even survive it.

They don’t live that, I don’t discount long hours, but they didn’t have to put it on the line, their money and integrity, if they weren’t self-employed at some point. My late father in law said if you’ve never met a payroll, you shouldn’t be in politics.

They have no idea of the living and dying that goes on in countless communities; mostly because they don’t care to know.

That is why our society is built around limiting government, so we must remove the neoregals from power if we are to survive.

  2. “You can create jobs by paying people more …”

That tired, idiotic line never dies. If you take more revenue from business in the form of wages, then of course they’ll hire more people to lose more revenue. QED.

This ässhole never ran a business in his life; his contempt for small business is obvious: he’d rather see them gone than pay employees what HE thinks they should.

Someone this ignorant and self-righteous could only be a politician.

    1. And that CuNNt blithely says that “… of course, MacDonalds should be paying $15/hr. to their employees.” Why? Ohhhhh … I get it. MacDonalds is a $B corporation … so “they can afford it” … Right? Marxist retards interviewing Marxist retards on CNN. And they still have ratings?

Let me summarize the Byedin policies: Open Borders. Universal citizenship. Free Medical Care. Artificially high minimum wage. Throw in defunding the police, and eliminating ICE. That giant sucking sound is from the flotsam and jetsam rushing across our Southern border.

And $15/hr. in Buttonwillow, CA goes a LOT further than $15/hr in Palo Alto, CA. Apple, Facebook, and Google can all “afford” FAR more than $15/hr … so what should THEY pay their gardeners? Answer: they ALREADY pay them FAR MORE than $15/hr. Why? Because the FREE market has set the price a lot higher. Pro tip: none of the 75 illegal Mexicans sitting around the Palo Alto Home Depot will work for less than $20/hr. They’ll laugh in your face (in Spanish) if you offer less.

      1. Precisely, Kenji! The notion that wages and costs are identical across the country is patently untrue. I assume that a well educated man like Ro Khanna knows this. Yet he still insists upon bringing forth this policy, which is certain to destroy smaller businesses, first in poorer areas. That he doesn’t care speaks volumes.

  3. Those idiots have no idea what a small business is.
    That’s the scary part.
    Using Amazon as an example.

    WOW, morons elected by morons.

    1. In Canada he would be praised as a visionary…a minimum of 50% would whole heartedly agree with this moron and his equally simple minded interviewer.

Neither whom have even the slightest idea as to what it takes to run a business

      1. Pro tip: the FREE Market has already set the minimum wage for common laborers well above $25/hr here in the SF Bay Area. NONE of the Home Depot curb-sitting Illegals will work for less than $20-25.00/hr. What the high-paid Marxists don’t understand is that the sad-looking, raggedy, heespanicks in the Home Depot parking lot understand basic economics and marketplaces better than they do. Far better.

Despite the abundant supply of these laborers (literally 100’s of them in the local HD Parking Lots) … they charge what the market will bear. Why? For the same reason Chevron charges far more for gasoline in Palo Alto, CA $4-4.50/gal. than they do in Buttonwillow, CA. Chevron has teams of economists calculating what local markets will/can pay … and sets the price accordingly. The HD Meskins do the same calculations … in their heads. ht Meskins.

  4. One of the better ways to pay employees is what Lincoln Electric in Cleveland Ohio has done. Not sure if they still do, but it worked very well while I lived in Cleveland many decades ago.

The company paid it’s employees a decent wage whatever that is/was at the time. Then at Christmas time the company would look at it’s bottom line and then distribute bonuses to all employees … a form of profit sharing.

Lincoln Electric had almost zero turnover of staff. Staff was happy and worked very hard to make the company successful. That meant they would get bonuses. Frequently, some bonuses were equal the wages already earned during that year.

Lincoln had no labor unions. That would have destroyed a perfectly grand relationship.

I think that what was behind this success was that the Lincoln Electric owners were not greedy.

  5. It should be in the constitution that politicians are severely limitied to make laws on economy.
Yeah, though what is the lesser bad?

  6. Which inevitably will bring the “good news bad news” scenario.

Employer – “Good news! You’re getting a raise!!”
“Bad news? I’m cutting your hours.”

  7. This Democrat is perfectly fine with Amazon, if Amazon is willing to pay $15,,, if fact he would be fine with Amazon getting bigger and bigger. Who needs those greedy small businesses, let Amazon take over more market share, let them run those small timers out of business. Government can control/talk to Amazon head to head, we have a harder time to get through to all those small businesses. So ya, let Amazon get bigger, maybe some day when small business is destroyed, we as government can just take over Amazon, and we can make it a government store just like in Cuba. idiot.

  8. Assholes like these in power is the equivalent of letting the mafia shakedown small businesses with impunity. As with all regulation, the big boys like Amazon can weather it while the little guys go under. More POCs will become unemployed as well. Who knew that the NDP had taken over the Democrats.

  9. Because government can set taxes at whatever level they want and force you to pay it they think business can do the same. The perception is every business owner is getting rich and not paying enough. You can see how well it works in hundreds if not thousands of Saskatchewan towns with few or no businesses left. It was often contributed to by local tax structure and constant harrassment from local government. But if you ask them they will tell you they are business friendly. Yet they have no clue as to why they aren’t thriving.

    1. That is not just Saskatchewan Towns, that is Can Ahh Duh.
The fiscal drag of Rule and regulation by fools and bandits is enormous.

Oh well, when you have a criminal government, then only crime pays.
In this kleptocracy,it is your patriotic duty to perform just like our overlords..of the parasitic overload.

However, the real minimum wage remains zero.
For some people are too dangerous to employ at any price.
Too stupid to share space with,so for your own survival you will never employ them, not at any price.

  10. Several years ago when the Wynne Liberal government in Ontario introduced legislation to increase the minimum wage, they had the Ontario Financial Accountability Office prepare a report on the effect this would have. As I recall, the conclusion is that the effect would be positive overall but fairly minor. The bug in this was the effect it would have on entry level workers, typically teenagers getting their first job. The report estimated that 50,000 jobs would be lost (this is just Ontario). The Liberal government proceeded anyway thereby hrowing the young workers under the bus.

    1. Minimum wage prevents the unskilled youngsters from learning the basics..
So they will remain unemployable and wards of the State for ever?
      That is a good thing.
From the warm offices of the Bureaus of rewarding useless and clueless persons, for the more “clients” they have the more secure their careers.
Bureaucracies have perverse reward systems,as we all see every March..”Blow the budget,so that we can get more”.
Dumb down the children and cut off almost all paths to work and the real education it begins,is a feature not a bug from the “Helpers”.
Just as the Religion of Safety has spread into deliberate sabotage and madness.
Same reason these “helpers” hate farmers, whose children have to be multitalented, just to survive.

The very last thing the Bureaus Of Kleptocracy(B.O.K.) want is a skilled and aware citizenry.

  11. “Why not ask the moderates if they’re willing to compromise?”

We’re all being compromised to satisfy the demands of the few.

  12. Politicians and civil servants are paid with taxes. They don’t have to produce three times their pay. As a result, they have no clue about economics. When the service they forced on those who did not want it loses money, they increase the rates. Then, they project their thievery into capitalists who cannot charge more than what people are able or willing to pay.

  13. Between federal/provincial government taxes, not to mention EI, CPP, compensation, etc., etc. fees, insurance fees, police/mafia protection rackets fees, mortgages, local property/business taxes, how does any small business make a go of it anymore?

  14. It’s be funny if it weren’t so tragic – citing Amazon and MacDonald’s as examples of ‘how it would work’, backed up by some BS ‘research likely conducted on behalf of the AFL-CIO. Wow. Just, wow. They know this shite ‘economics’ plays well with the average Lo-info voter and the privileged classes (bureaucrats, union types and their families). The entrepreneurs that I know in Canada already go far out of their way to avoid new hires because of the expense, regs, crap retention rate, etc. These guys in the US and here are really out to snuff out the small business owners, who largely don’t vote ‘the right way’.

  15. Does anyone eIse see the irony in the fact that so many of the peopIe who cIaim to know how to “fix America” are first or 2nd generation immigrants from countries that for aII intents and purposes are indeed shithoIes and economic basket cases? Hey…it didn’t work in the crap hoIe we came from……but I’m sure it wiII work here. I think I’II run for Congress and see if anyone agrees.

  16. Putting more money into the pockets of those who earn minimum wage helps elevate their ability to pay more taxes. More taxes create more secure government jobs.

@ 3:11 the woke bloke said outright he proposed that ‘at least’ student debt up to $10k should immediately be forgiven by executive order. ‘Progressives’ want innocents to pay for poor life choices of those who paid to be taught by ‘tenured’ progressives.

  17. Perhaps those who made a profit off of student loan debt should be the ones to pay up due to giving the students a product that wasn’t nearly worth the expense. Government can dig their greedy little hands into the student loan banks’ pockets or redirect universities’ endowments to pay off the previous customer’s debt – who they ripped off.
