Tough on Guns, Soft on Crime- A Liberal Combo Pack

What a difference a couple of days makes.

If you want to know Trudeau’s real thoughts of dealing with gun crime, look at what his government is doing in Bill C-22.

What are they doing?

Mandatory minimum sentences are being removed for a long list of offences.

How?

The government put these changes into a bill they described as dealing with systemic racism in Canada’s justice system and making sure that people who make simple mistakes don’t pay for them for the rest of their lives.

Why?

“These are people with health problems. These are single mothers. These are young people who perhaps have made a couple of mistakes,” Justice Minister David Lametti said while introducing his bill.

“It sounds nice and it pulls on the heartstrings, but it’s also a load of BS.

  1. The news in Toronto has a whole time slot dedicated to the gang bang neighbourhood’s daily activities. Its offerings are pretty narrow, it’s the gang bangers themselves getting shot up or knifed, or it’s the innocents bystanders getting it. Obviously national or international news time slots are going to have to shrink to accommodate the forthcoming “local” activity…and the endless “why why why’s?” the interviewees will ask into the microphones of the reporters, like they don’t already know.

    1. I often listen to Toronto news radio for a few minutes during my Sunday morning workout just to find out how many people were shot. I mentioned this to my brother – he wanted to know what the “over/under number was.
I sure hope Ontario’s sports lottery starts covering this….

  2. More race based justice. If your skin is the right color,,, or you have a certain heritage, (even if you have to back a couple generations), you’ll be treated differently and given breaks by prosecutors and/or judges.

  3. Mayor Jello in diverse Toronto has been ranting to Adolf The Gay Pirate for ages about judges granting quick bail to diverse gang members. So what does Adolf do? He makes it easier for judges to release them, even for gun offences.

  4. Because criminals vote Liberal. Law abiding gun owners do not.
The Liberals gave federal inmates the right to vote in the late 1980’s.
    Any more questions?

    1. *
if it saves just one life…

in canada… three times as many lives are
      lost to drunk driving
      as are murdered.

      just sayin’.

  5. “These are people with health problems. These are single mothers. These are young people who perhaps have made a couple of mistakes,” Justice Minister David Lametti said while introducing his bill.

Is “Lametti” Italian for lame excuses?

    1. The first time I saw that I checked carefully to see if it was authentic because the reality was far worse than I had suspected. Embarrassing, but natural due to the media climate we live in.

    2. First, Diversity is Our Strength!
Second, you gotta love the entries labelled “Young Offender – no picture available”! Wonder if the zombie adding that ‘info’ was cognizant of the absurdity?

    3. Also of note are the “young offender/no photo available” reflections of the madness that is today’s “justice” system.

    4. Bingo, punish the law abiding Canadian gun owner and give a free pass to Canada’s criminals who will always have illegal firearms.

Illegally obtained firearms that these criminals will use to victimize Canadas law abiding citizens with little to no consequences.

  6. We are suckers to get caught up in the gun debate. Trudeau and company use it every time they need a detraction, which they sorely need from COVID vaccine flop.
Furthermore, not one damned thing will be done about the gun situation, we will be nattering among ourselves.

    1. The gun thing is my beat, and I’m not even paying attention this time. Tredeau started up the gun thing again as a desperate try at turning the attention away from his vaccine debacle. The vaccine is an attempt to distract from China, which is pulling his puppet strings.

Letting China in is a distraction from SNC Lavalin and all the other deeply rooted corruption in provincial and federal government bureaucracy, paid for by LOANS. The country is frigging bankrupt. What are we hearing about? Gun control.

      Sorry, I’m not playing.

      1. I agree, putting that on industrial strength ignore is the best solution. I ain’t selling them back, because they were sold to a guy in Moosonee.

Also, I live in Northern Ontario, how the hell do they think they’re gonna stop someone from taking their rifle out for a spin in the boreal forest. Utter stupidity, or how to stop a family member from getting the now banned rifles, after an owner passes away.

  7. He has taken away rights from legal gun owners, rights which are the foundation of our legal system, while making like easier for gang bangers of the minority persuasion.
Have you ever noticed our resident liberal halfwits never appear to defend this type of tyranny?

    1. Mr. Swift sir, you have no rights. Any notion that a Canadian citizen living in Canada has -rights- should be given up immediately. Get used to the idea that there is NOTHING the federal government cannot do. Legally! Any law or regulation they pass, it’s legal. Okay?

You don’t have a right to your property. Not your house, not your car, not your guns.
You don’t have a right to free speech. Anything you say can and will be held against you, forever.
You don’t have a right to privacy. Wave to the nice people watching the camera.
Currently they have not yet come for your children. But they -can-. Anyone who doubts that needs to remember what happened to the Japanese and the Germans in WWII. Or the Indians, with the residential schools. They can damn well come for you, and there’s no court of higher appeal.

Okay? Let’s not hear any more crying about rights. You want rights, too bad. Any chance you had was squandered in 1867. That’s just how it is.

      1. Actually it was squandered by Quebec in 1776

Niggling detail, but the point you made is still valid.

        1. MikeT:
Not so. In law a Canadian citizen is a subject of the Queen of Canada, HM Queen Elizabeth II. We are both citizens and subjects. We have a constitutional monarchy, not an absolute monarchy….. a difference that seems to escape the Shiny Pony, but one which belies your assertion.

  8. “If you want to know Trudeau’s real thoughts of dealing with gun crime…” WTF is a “gun crime?”
Is it somehow worse to kill a man with a gun than a baseball bat? Gun ownership should not be regulated by the state at all. Once you consent to licensing, you consent to confiscation.

    1. “Gun ownership should not be regulated by the state at all. ”

Yes, that is correct, big amen to that. Unfortunately this is another of the “in my perfect world” conversations. The world that we want does not exist, should we wait for rapture while they rape us or maybe we should try to fix a small part of it? This is a serious question. It does not matter how things should be, it matters what can we do when the things are the way they are.

  9. Systemic racism?
Well then, our Justice system (which is systemicly racist) is founded on the charter.
You know the one that was made law in 1982?
That one is the one that this racist (systemically so) law that is the real root cause of all this systemic racism.
If saves just one life, we must remove this root cause of systemic racism and all memory of its author.

  10. Put more simply the lefty pols are getting a cut. From the drugs and prostitution, It’s the only rational explanation for what they are doing.

    1. Before they come for your fishing rod, they would solve more problems by coming after all of the computer ‘games’ that are brainwashing the weak minded into scoring on a death and destruction theme and that think that they can reset or restart life the way that they do in the computer ‘games’.

Funny how there were shooting clubs in many high schools back in the Thirties and Forties and few to none mass school shootings. Could it be because shooting a real gun gives a lifetime lesson in how much damage can be caused by discharging a single bullet. A video game on the other hand, well when you run out of electronic ammunition just push the reset button.

  11. I am coming to accept my place in Can Ahh Duh.
I an an ugly citizen who must not be seen or heard,I must shut up and hand over all wealth to my superiors..
I have no future and no future is permitted for any of mine.
I am a criminal creature living at the sufferance and benevolence of my masters..
All wealth I produce is to be plundered by those deemed my betters..

Yup that is going to work for me.
As I examine the character of the entitled parasites, who have produced nothing I value in the decades I have been observing and tolerating their predation.

Soon enough these effete elites will be heard to utter those immortal lines;”The peasants are revolting”.
The Swamp Critters south of us already have, with the Hag’s Cackle about
    “Basket of Deplorables”.
    Here we go again.
The clueless and useless have been protected and babied for so long, that they are sure they are needed and necessary..
Now they demand respect and threaten us all.
    So sad too bad.
The functionally helpless have declared war upon the tool users..
    I’m in.

  12. Calling him a Jr Varsity PM would be an insult to Jr Varsity leaders everywhere, including actual Jr Varsity team captains.

  13. Get with the programme people! Removing minimum sentencing to conform with the identity politics mantra means that in the not too distant future when all guns in anyone’s possession is illegal (except the state), the full prisons or bent cops will keep most everyone that wants to be, armed. Just like all the shithole Dem cities (and Toronto) with strict gun control, the non white crime is through the roof, prisons are full and cops are bent. Forget laws, they’re passé. The future is somewhere between Mad Max and the Weimar Republic (Mark Steyn’s analogy).

  14. So, Harper was in there for like a decade after Alan Rock’s rules. CBC still here. CWB nearly outlasted him. Still have section 13. Gun registry is “gone”, but rumours persist of its secret existence in Quebec. Budget never balanced. Debt never paid down. No significant cuts to regulation. Gifts to Bombardier and other “Favoured Quebec Companies” never slowed down (or stopped). No “forgivable” loans ever called. Still paying equalization.

How different, can you honestly say things would be, if Trudeau was not Prime Minister? It might be the difference between caffè americano and caffè macchiato; but coffee is still coffee. Do you honestly think there would be any fewer lockdowns, under a PM Scheer, or O’Toole? Would it be substantively different under PM May, or PM Singh? Would much of anything be different, with any name you can think of from Ottawa?

How long you gonna vote for swamp creatures, and pretend to be surprised, when nothing much changes.

Still have the milk board, the syrup board, the chicken board, … .

  15. Who judges the judge when they let go of Homey and then he double-taps Levondra’s 8 year old son three days later because he holds his Glock sideways and he pulls while running?
    Nobody.
    Who cares?
Not the judge. He’s a Liberal and he just doesn’t give a shit.
