    1. Ah, Ted. You had one job, to be supportive, and you screwed the pooch. Yes, not a good look.

    2. Why is he a power engineer or a lineman?
      Did Ted lockdown the state?
I don’t understand why people get their panties in a bunch over things politicians have no control over, the weather is one of them!
Now if you can show me that he supported the long march to green in Texas, then I would agree that it’s a bad look, otherwise, meh!

      1. well those lefty shit rags don’t have to report the kHOMO death count if they can pillar Ted, you are correct, Ted should not have to cover for incompetent bureaucraps and government employee, or even the private sector !!!

      2. You made the exact point I was about to make. There isn’t much Ted can do in Texas so why not take the family to a warm place for awhile. Without electricity, Ted has no medium with which to communicate to his constituents anyway.

People are so petty, envious and vindictive it makes me puke.

        1. Agreed, in this case, heck, Cruz is a minority member of the Senate, and the DOTUS isn’t his party either. He’s not a State rep either. The sanctimony is pathetic.

I would take off too and get away from this inept, dunce of a country if:
          I was retired.
I had the income to support 4 months away from Canaderp, in Hawaii.
          I would do it anyways.
FCK the whiners and sanctimonious TWITS

  1. He deserves his trip away from the cold because he’s better than the “little people”. He’s a UNITED STATES SENATOR and therefore, by definition, better than you.

    1. What are you detractors talking about!? Ted is a Christian! And he was wearing a mask … what more do you want?

Most of you were screaming at me in 2016 that Ted was the ONLY “true conservative” and that we Republicans MUST unite behind Ted. Ted wore his Christianity on his sleeve … which would have guaranteed a LOSS to HER. I am a Christian, and conduct my life as a Christian (except for my potty mouth … meh.) … but I don’t go to a Public Hearing and confess my love of Christ while presenting my project. It’s not relevant in that setting.

So Ted was most worried when a candidate that he “project the correct image” to the Christian Right … but now is apparently tone deaf to the horrific image he is projecting by fleeing to Mexico (of all places) when his constituents need him most.

Suffice to say that MY PRESIDENT would be on the ground organizing relief … and collecting scalps of all the incompetent imbeciles who have made Texas vulnerable to this unforgivable 3rd world electrical system

        1. Not defending Ted, but this issue isn’t really for a Senator.
The Governor and people who run that state need to step up.

Let’s not forget. This is a once in a lifetime storm, that is hitting many states.

          1. For sure optics. He should know better.
But my question was in reference to “…when his constituents need him most.”

          2. What can he do? a) Commiserate b) Investigate c) Explain How and Why this happened … before the Global Warmists explain it with lies and half truths.

  2. I’m not sure it’s an unforced error or even an error at all. It’s time for the stupidity and madness to end. Much of TX, especially the big cities, are Democrat. The obvious harm from progressives should be underlined and exclamation marked for all to take note of. Ted didn’t do this wind turbine garbage. Everyone that can should do a Flyin’ Ted to take a break from a crappy situation. Wind power is unreliable and costly. The Lockdowns have caused much more harm than curve flattening. There are better ways. Ones that involve minimizing infringements of rights and trusting people to do the right things for them and their families. The quicker the hyperventilating holier-than-thou drive-by whippings stop and adult realistic discussions begin is when this man-made nightmare finally ends.

  3. A senator has no administration duties. Should the Senate meet to debate a cure, I’m sure he would be there. Cruz is one of the few Senators who is not a half-wit idiot. The US, under Biden, has Americans fleeing to Mexico.

    1. Unfortunately for conservatives, actions speak louder than words.

      Leaders, Lead.

Soft lazy bureaucrats only lead themselves to the trough.

      1. I agree with you Paul. I agree with much of what Senator Cruz has done and said in the past. But he has to have a sense of the moment, of what a crisis is, and he has to lead by example. That’s what leaders do.

      2. Yes, when you have the power to change the problem.
Ted is a Senator, not the Governor.
If the state needs something from Congress, then he can do his job.

        1. His State. His constituents. He can ride herd on those who have been tasked with “winterizing” the electrical grid. Ride herd on the runaway “renewable” (read: frozen and limited) energy

      3. Agree, Paul.

We expect entitlement from lie-berals like The Spawn and Gaggin’ Nuisance of California.

We expect and deserve more from conservative “leaders”. Reminds me of Douglas Ford last Easter heading on up to “check on the cottage” just after telling us unwashed to STAY HOME!

They should know better. Hmmm…but they don’t.

  4. Then again…what’s he supposed to do? The ones doing the piling on are progressives still butthurt from the criticism Nancy Pelosi took for opening up her $50,000 fridges and showing the world her selection of gourmet ice creams while Californians lined up at food banks.

    1. She didn’t open the “ice cream containers” because they were full of Benjamin’s

      Benjamins and Gerrymandered

  5. Never forget, they all see themselves above the hoi polloi. The road to serfdom is paved with cruel intentions.

  6. It’s not good optics, but what would be the purpose of him remaining in Texas? He had nothing to do with the fiasco, from what I’ve seen he’s been slammed for arguing against the idiotic green new deal and unreliable renewables and in favor of fossil fuels. And what could he do to help if he was at home?

If it was a global warmunist who pushed to get rid of fossil fuels who fled, then there would be good reason to criticize. But not Cruz.

    1. Paul.

Even if Trump had been a Senator.
This is not a job for a Senator. Unless they need some type of help from the military.
Which Texas has a ton of already.

  7. If a major problem comes up in your business, a key person leaves, you stay behind and send the family ahead to rejoin them later.
Why should there be a different standard here? Because he is a US state Senator, a GOP one, so they aren’t doing shit anyway?
Besides as a citizen why the f***g are you going to covid infested Mexico in the first place?
I second this is not a good look.

  8. This is a local and state legislature issue. Not much Senators can immediately do in a situation like this. Except to fight the green new deal etc. Optics? Okay not great but I think I can forgive him.

  9. Alas poor Ted,polishing his uniparty cred.
If he does not stand up and say F U to all his critics,he is done for..
Except this is “The Art of the Lie” so it will be forgotten in no time at all.

  10. Given the fact that this week in February has been a school vacation week for decades and the Cruz family had this trip planned for awhile I see nothing wrong if the truth prevails. Optics only affects people looking into others business. In other words mind your own business.

  11. WTF is a Senator going to do? Yeah, not a good look. 25k troop, fences and razor wire around the Capitol isn’t a good look either. Remember, he’s one of those evil climate deniers that oppose the Green New Deal and other environmental bullshit responsible for this energy fiasco.

  12. Definitely not a good look. However, he probably would have been able to get more done down there than here in Texas. Sitting in the dark with no internet and extremely degraded cell phone service was extremely frustrating and unproductive.

  13. Nowadays it’s pretty hard to find a politician that has it in them to be a true servant to the people and not some elitist enjoying their perks as they live off the people.

  14. I’m embarrassed to admit that I supported Ted during the 2016 election cycle, and I was proven wrong over and over again about him. I hope he doesn’t run in 2024. “Leaders” like this we can do without.

  15. I’m waiting for the part when I’m supposed to care.

We’ve established that the higher-ups can do whatever they want without consequence.

Cheat, lie, steal an election, bribe family and friends and leave the country.

In any other country, this would have been unthinkable.

  16. Ted Cruze did NOT tell anyone else they had to stay locked in. Nor did he force it upon them.
I don’t hide in my basement and travel to where I can.

Reading the foregoing comments most here are acting like the leftist Woke mob.

Gavin Newsome and many others forced people to lock down. Then they went ahead and did as they pleased.

THERE IS A MAJOR DIFFERENCE HERE. Don’t even try comparing.

  17. I’m with Ted on this one, no big FUCKING issue here!

We condemn politicos, and the bureaucraps for forcing their shit on us, many here don’t follow what the commies want us to do, and then we pillar those who act like we do.

  18. “Optics”
Shove that where sun don’t shine.

Scratching my head on “flyin’ Ted.”

Williams? Given the weather you could say Cruz was drafted.

  19. It is quite dismaying how so many, present company included, gets so upset over such trivial matters when there is so much to be truly enraged about. We seem to be obsessed about dust on the curtains when the house foundation rots away.
