  1. I pray someone worthy fills the massive vacuum left by his passing. RIP Rush. I expect you are enjoying a nice fat Cuban in heaven tonight secure in the knowledge that NOBODY can save their mortal life … not even Steve Jobs

  2. Terrible terrible news. Great man, cannot expect anyone to fill those shoes. RIP Rush. We will miss you.

  3. What a shame. Great man.

It will be very hard to fill his shoes.
There is a talk show host in Seattle who has done his show for awhile. Maybe he could do it?

    RIP Rush.

  4. One of my fav Rush themes\memes is where he would play the sound of a chainsaw cutting into wood.
“One of the most beautiful things to hear, a tree being turned into something useful”.

The shock on the faces of environmentalists was priceless.

A full and respectful life. Godspeed Good Sir.

  5. To be fair, with the rise of conservative media in the last decade, i think Mr. Limbaugh’s influence has been met by others.

But it is an understatement to say that El Rushbo did “break the trail” for everyone else.

  6. Aawww…. fuck. Sorry, but in honor of Rush, that was my HONEST reaction when I saw Kate’s message. So happy that President Trump honored him nationally when he did at the State of the Union. RIP, Rush, you will be dearly missed.

  7. Long time listener….never a caller
I used to service clients in SW Ontario and as I drove along the 401 towards Windsor, I would listen to the US radio stations along the way…..then I hit on Rush….I was hooked, from then on I over serviced my customer base just so I could listen to him.
Maybe Steyn will get the gig
    God Bless this American icon.

  8. I am saddened at the prospect of those that never had the opportunity to listen to him live.

One of his best was when he started the countdown when Al Gore claimed we only had ten years before the earth would burn up.

  9. When I lived in the States and listening to him it was like having a bombastic friend in the truck with me. Conservative America must feel like “the force has experienced a large disruption”. Dittos and RIP, Rush!

  10. He will be sorely missed.
    Rest in peace.

My day also, for 30 years is loosely scheduled around being in the car for his magnificent broadcasts whenever possible.

  11. My late twin brother clued me into Rush a while back, it’s with tears in my eyes upon hearing this news, he will be missed.

  12. First encounter was TV. I was stunned by his genius.
Was not a listener except for tipped audio clips.
BUT I shall never forget listening in the car once. He went full Socrates with a young woman on the subject of liberalism / toxic government intervention; viz., he did not preach to her. He asked her a series of questions and her answers were like a dimmed light bulb being cranked up to the max. SHE GOT IT from her own answers.

And again I was stunned, flabbergasted even. That was indeed a talent borrowed from God.

    RIP dear sir.

  13. “Polarizing”

That’s the way the msm is remembering Rush. That he was a “polarizing” radio talk show host. Once again, the left is incapable of honesty. And incapable of even a begrudging compliment at the passing of someone they viscerally HATE. Name ONE broadcast leftist the msm would describe as “polarizing”? … I’ll wait. Dum dum de dum dum dum … Nope. No one. Only conservatives can be “polarizing”.

We should all also remember the multiple leftist attempts to “even out the playing field of political talk shows”. Remember the utter FAIL of ‘Air America’ … also multiple other attempts at the local level … FAIL. The attempts can all be attributed to Rush Limbaugh. Rush’s success. Overwhelming success. Which try as they may … the left could never replicate. Not even close.

    1. “Name ONE broadcast leftist the msm would describe as “polarizing”? … I’ll wait. Dum dum de dum dum dum … Nope. No one. Only conservatives can be “polarizing”.”

      Don Imus.

  14. It’s hard to understand now but the reason the US has a vast network of conservative media from talk radio to podcasts to tv is Rush Limbaugh. I never paid attention to US politics before him and whether I agreed with him or not he was always entertaining.
I always have Rush and Howard Stern linked in my mind cause they both saved radio in the US and to this day 99% of US radio consists of pale imitations of one of the two. But it strikes me that Rush has accomplished more and leaves a legacy while Stern will simply be forgotten once he retires.

  15. My parents drove from Langley, BC to Colorado for Dan’s Bake Sale. Just for a chance to see Rush in person. I have a tshirt still. My family goes wayyyy back with newsletter subscriptions, tv show, books, and podcasts. The humor is what I’ll miss the most. Thanks to his team for all they have done over the years. No more Spatula City!
In a way I’m glad that Rush won’t have to witness the upcoming years. He weathered years like these before but those Clinton days will seem awfully good in comparison to what’s ahead, I’m afraid.
    Rest In Peace.

  16. “I love the women’s movement — especially when walking behind it” ~ Rush Limbaugh

    Agreed.

  17. Must have been 30 years ago, perhaps a little more, driving from Calgary down to Yellowstone with young sons.
Have heard Rush from time to time going south for camping and such.
Sons heard Rush for the first time, found him amusing, not playing by the known rules, they were as though listening to something naughty, not being heard in this country, grinning.
Listedned to him every so often.
One time a woman from New York called in, said as a life long democrat, sorry, republican she was not going to vote for republican.
Rush got the truth out of her not even trying.
He will be remembered as generous and a good man.

  18. Gone but not forgotten.

When one asks of fellow Canadians if they’ve heard or read Mark Steyn or Ezra Levant, the responses most often are that they haven’t.
When one asks the same of Rush Limbaugh, they most often have heard of him, but their impression is generally negative.

Once out of the Canadian media bubble, in another country, and actually hearing Rush for the first time, I was stunned by how someone could be so critical of the Clintons – who walked on water per Canadian media and general opinion in Canada.
It led to my understanding of how little I personally knew about American politics at the time, despite holding popular opinions about American politics and politicians past and present.

Kate’s “You don’t speak for me” tag re Canadian radio wouldn’t be a thing if there had been as steadfast and popular – to his listeners and critics alike – a personality as Rush broadly heard in Canada, rather than our mandated ‘Canadian content’ overseen by un-elected bureaucrats.

        1. Not looking for a clone.
          He’s irreplaceable.
Let Bill Whittle explain it to you.

          A story from this video;

To rub it into the eco celebrities flying to climate change conferences he recounted a story where he took his private plane EIB1 to a golf course. Half way there realizing he didn’t grab his favourite driver he made a call and had it flown to the course on EIB2.
          AWESOME.

          Fearless.

  19. Posted elsewhere:

Rush has been a reference point for over 20 years for me.
A beacon in the turmoil of leftist bullshit propagated by a corrupt media.
He was the man in the poem If.
Fearless, loyal and a beacon of sanity.

  20. Rush Limbaugh, polarizing? He didn’t even speak Polish!

I got exposed to him when his TV show was on at lunchtime in Calgary, and in the days when I was back and forth from Calgary to Winnipeg, he came on KMON in Great Falls to cover a big chunk of the Trans-Canada at ideal driving times. So I was never a dedicated fan, but I liked him a lot, and I really appreciated him. He was a historic figure, who did a great deal of good for his country and his neighbours. He made a difference, and I’m in his debt.
