The problem with scientist today is that they want to get a Nobel prize what ever it takes.
If it kills people, it is just a collateral damage, as long as they can say we did it.

I remember on episode of the TV show Northern Exposure about that. Someone found a mammoth carcass near the town. All sorts of publicity about it followed, but by the time scientists could be brought up to examine it, someone had carved it into steaks.
My generation practiced duck and cover drills among all other manner of Nuclear weapon mitigation. Marches, protests, and whatnot. Nuclear Armageddon was coming, we were told. SALT … among dozens of other anti nuclear proliferation treaties took up all the time and talents of international law bureaucrats.
How were we to know that the greatest economic and social devastation ever on the planet … would come from a biological weapon. What? I said COVID was a “weapon”? Damn right, I did. Sorry … the WHO “investigation” was a complete sham. The ChiComs HAD to get rid of Trump … and so they deployed a weapon and a cover story.
Pretty sure germs have killed more people than nuclear weapons by a YUGE factor.
They are much cheaper to make and the delivery systems are free.
The EU has also been waging biological warfare on us for decades.
What could go wrong?
COVID is a nothing-burger. It is our governments that are killing us and western economies. If I was a Russian or a Chinese actor, you can bet I’d be encouraging the west to continue its self-destruction, you don’t need a killer virus to do so, just giving a flu or cold a scary name will work just fine, and saying its 50 000 years old! Wowzee! Just watch the west turtle into the fetal position with that!
Why in God’s name would Putin bother digging up prehistoric viruses for military purposes?
Russia, and the United States, still have stocks of smallpox virus left over from the Cold War, each one getting done to ensure the other didn’t try to use it as a bio-terror agent.
Red China didn’t get any virus.
To make Pooh Bear sweat, all Putin would have to do is:
1. Vaccinate the Russian armed forces against smallpox.
2. Infect a few Russian agents with smallpox and send them into Red China.
3. Ask the Americans to thank him later.
