The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced Friday that it is breaking with tradition and awarding its International Emmy Founders Award to a real politician who is currently in office. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is being honored his daily coronavirus briefings earlier this year.
“The Governor’s 111 daily briefings worked so well because he effectively created television shows, with characters, plot lines, and stories of success and failure,” the academy’s president and CEO, Bruce Paisner, explained in a statement announcing the decision. “People around the world tuned in to find out what was going on, and New York tough became a symbol of the determination to fight back.”
Andrew Cuomo – New York’s governor who was once hailed the king of the US Covid-19 response – was facing fresh calls for his removal from office on Friday after new allegations emerged that he and senior staff covered up the extent of the virus deaths in the state’s nursing homes.
The New York Post said it obtained a leaked recording of the governor’s top aide, Melissa DeRosa, admitting to Democrats in private conversations this week that the administration withheld the true data because it feared the Department of Justice would use the figures to pursue complaints of state misconduct.

Heh…Interesting to note how Trump once more brings out the stupid in Democrats – DeRosa admitted they started hiding the numbers once Trump steered the Justice Dept. to do a little digging into exactly why NY, NJ and Michigan issued directives requiring nursing homes to admit infected patients.

I think Cuomo saw the state budget shed 20 or 30 thousand useless, pointless seniors from it’s state nursing home roster as a budget saving measure.

Likely Melissa DeRosa saw the writing on the wall and contacted her mother-in-law who advised getting ahead of this to avoid going to prison, and maybe get a deal.
