  1. I don’t think the carbon tax is working.
First I get steamed every time I think about it, and now Texas.

    1. No, it is working. Soon warm weather will be a thing of the past. And we will praise the shiny little pony-shaped potato for making it possible.

While we freeze because energy is no longer affordable. By design.

      All hail the Tater Tot.

  2. Don’t worry, Dementia Joe and Blackie will still fight global warming. I’m sure they have an explanation for the world going into the deep freeze.

  3. Spouses daughter and family moved down to Texas earlier this year. San Antonio area.
This morning they had -10 Celsius, tree branches were frozen. Don’t know if it will damage them.

    1. We’ve been across Texas on I-10 to and from Arizona a couple of times and have usually stopped for a couple of days not far from San Antonio. I just checked (1:00 pm eastern) and it’s -7 with a forecast low tonight of -14!

We were in an RV – I would be really worried about plumbing freezing at that temperature furnace or no furnace. Driving straight through would be worse with the wind chill.

  4. Victoria got a serious snow storm too. Hasn’t stopped snowing since Friday. Clearly the carbon tax is working.

    1. Well, it hasn’t snowed heavy, it’s the number of hours the light snow fell. Of course, on the west coast, the LaLaLanders freak out when an inch falls on the ground, or, when the temp hits -5 it’s suddenly a horribly cold winter. Settled at about a foot before stopping today, and now in a melting stage.
Took out old Big Black for a romp in the deep stuff, a good old time, while the rest of Victoria was hiding in their progressia mindset of Glowbull warming.
The F350 will have to wait another year for fun in the white stuff!

      1. We got two feet here. The snow clearing crews did an exceptionally terrible job this time.

Should’ve got a Chevy dumbass. That piece will die well before my duramax.

  5. In reading the one article it says there are power outages and one person says we don’t have gas, we heat with electricity.

  6. It’s a Valentine’s day Blastacre… there was a 4.4 earthquake near Banff, Ab 24 hours ago, and it’s still chilly @ -20°C right now.
    Today’s high was only -18°C.
(I posted a link on Reader Tips about the quake)

P.S. Wouldn’t mind some Texas weather.
Hope their produce isn’t ruined, I love those Blood Red Texas Grapefruits that are usually imported here to Calgary.

    1. Did you have square tires and go bump, bump, bump for a bit? My favorite cold weather car story is people who never check their tire pressure having the tires run off the rims on main street. Nothing keeping them there at -30 C.
Confession….I lived during the last cold spell, 50 odd years ago

  7. Beginning of at least one of the 2 warmest years ever and the disappearance of the sea ice. Because don’t you know this is just weather that doesn’t effect climate. Laughing my frozen ass off.

    1. Every year, it is reported that the previous year was the warmest on record. I am sure it is a template with the dates and times left blank.

      1. Yup. When the adjustments to annual temperature anomaly are this close to matching the increase in annual temperature anomaly, you have to wonder why the $%$^$ we try to measure temperatures at all.

  8. I wish everyone down there luck. That is no fooling around cold, hitting a place that really has no experience dealing with and no preparations in place for it, as an example the water lines aren’t buried very deep because they don’t have to be and vehicles have tires meant to run all day in 45C heat, and many homes have no central heat. I know some people around here that will be laughing at them , these are the same people who wilt and cry about 18 degrees, so if you see someone like that please remove their warm clothes and throw them outside for an hour or two in -20 weather.

    1. I wasn’t laughing at the people who definitely aren’t prepared for this. I am laughing at the climate scare mongers who want to juxtapose the covid event into climate change. Also if you can find truthful data this has happened before in my lifetime. Spent the day here trying to get people’s mechanical systems working.

      1. God bless, you’re doing the work that needs to be done to keep society rolling. And don’t be afraid to note how belief in Global Warming can kill people.

  9. Quick, amass the virgins for sacrifice to appease Ma Gaia !! (whadda ya mean there’s a scarcity?) Well then, gather up the despicable proletariat scum poste haste! We brass monkeys implore you!!

  10. Bought a couple of Hudson Bay blankets last year, one each for myself and my sweetie. Been eyeballing them for years. I have to sleep on top by midnight, I’m so HOT! Get ’em before they go out of business. They’re worth the money.

    1. If this store was going to go out of business, it would’ve happened by now.

Founded 1670…. They’re not going anywhere.

They may close some stores and move a lot of business online at the very worst.

  11. “Oh Susanna don’t you cry for me”
Still beautifully encapsulates the hysteria of the Cult of Calamitous Climate.
Gang Green will steal and lie until we drive them from productive circles.
Parasites Unite, you government has a home for you.

For only government incompetents would claim that they can control the weather.
And that is the heart of Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming.
    One Huge Lie.

  12. Remember frozen Florida citrus orchards?
Don’t forget to thank Blackie for that new carbon Tax upgrade to your heating bill. Justin time, eh?

  13. As Willie P. Bennett once opined…
    Driftin’ snow, around my window,
    Driftin’ snow around my door,
Driftin’ snow around my brain, Lord,
    Won’t be no driftin’ anymore…

  14. According to climate experts, the extreme cold down south is due to global warming.

    Yes, really!

You see, global warming causes climate change which makes the jet stream unstable and it gets these wobbles that reach down south, pulling the cold air with it.

Mind you, back in the 1970s, climate experts told us that it was global cooling that destabilized the jet stream, making it wobble.

    1. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Cold is warmth.

And if you don’t believe then there’s always room 101.

  15. Thousands of people – tens of thousands – live in RV’s across the south USA.

Thousands of them are on the RV forums tonight about their now-frozen water pipes.

Homes down there are in the same situation. Many have water lines that run along exterior, poorly-insulated walls.

This is going to be very costly in the USA.

  16. Just what I was thinking. This is going to become a regular event in Texas. Epoch times is also reporting that ~gasp~ their windmills are failing in the freezing rain. Since Texas gets 23% of their power from windmills the failure of the windmills is a major cause of the blackouts that are happening. https://www.theepochtimes.com/biden-approves-emergency-declaration-for-texas-amid-energy-emergency-deadly-winter-storm_3696746.html?utm_source=morningbrief&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=mb-2021-02-15
