  1. Maybe the most lopsided tie in sports history. The Canadiens totally outplayed the CCCP team except in net. Tretiak was incredible. Dryden was less than ordinary.

    1. Cannot say what time during the game. One of the most amazing plays I ever saw in hockey. Gainey hits the ‘Road Runner’ with a knee high pass coming out of the Habs end. Cournoyer is breaking down the right side and takes the pass without breaking stride and comes in on Tretiak for a scoring chance. He did not score but that play has stayed with me for a life time. It was truly the most lopsided game I have watched. The last truly great Habs team. I moved on the the Canucks.

Another truly nostalgic video is the great Jean Beliveau funeral and the retrospective on his career and life. A great man.

      1. Truly a great athlete and person. While I’m not a great fan of the Governor General’s position, it’s too bad that Beliveau turned down that position in 1994 (due to family commitments).

      2. YEP..!! I watched that game and TOTALLY Remember that play & that night watching that GAME…Awesome..!!

And about the ONLY time I ever cheered for the Habs…lol

  2. That New Year’s Eve was also the night of the very first million dollar Olympic Lottery. Don’t know why I remember that…

    1. “voting Republican doesn’t actively harm us, requires very little effort”
” we should choose the option that makes us marginally better off in comparison with every other one” i.e., “the lesser of two evils”.
” in the end, [it] may make the gathering darkness darken a little slower”
How does one stomach the dirty deeds & collusions by the deep state, media and political apparatus that we’ve seen over the past four years? Once they have deposed of Trump, we carry on like none of it ever happened? How do we keep pretending now that we’ve had a glimpse behind the curtain.

PS. The article appears to be from one Christian’s perspective. The author opts for a slow burn in a dystopian hell.
The end of time prophecies point to a final conflagration. I’ll be stocking up on pop-corn just in case.

  3. 1975– all the favourite and best hockey players in that game, brings back great memories, thank-you Robert.
A Hockey Night In Canada wouldn’t be complete without listening to the Original Theme Song….here it is fellas, don’t cry…  (2:36)

    1. Indeed… that video brought back great memories. Growing up in Regina in the 60’s with the B&W TV, Saturday night was hockey night. My dad and I would go downstairs with a big bowl of popcorn and watch the old 6 team league. Sometimes you would see 2 or 3 pucks on the screen, depending on the rabbit ears, but those were great days. There was a rule in our house… you cheered for Toronto, or who ever was playing against Montreal that night. That sentiment continued over to that game in 75… dad cheered for the Russians.

    2. Caught the Shuffle Beans playing that at the War Memorial Hall at UofGoo in the mid ’80s.

  4. R.I.P. Police Sgt. Andrew Harnett.
No public word of condolences from the Prime Minister for a Calgary Police Officer who recently died on the job. His funeral was on Tuesday. This cop was Ontario-born just like PMJT. I’m not sure if Ontario-born Premier Jason Kenney expressed condolences either. As for Toronto born Nenxi – he stood on the side of Memorial Drive with others.
I could be mistaken, but, what is protocol when a cop dies in the line of duty? More info here about the funeral:

    1. Jason Kenny expressed condolences.

“My profound condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Calgary Police Sergeant Andrew Harnett, who was killed last night by a driver fleeing a traffic stop. His death reminds us of the real risks taken by police officers every day to protect public safety.”

    2. Does this Surprise ANYONE…??

I plan to live until I see that FILTHY Rotten Treasonous Communist PIECE OF SHIT DIE…and then I will go out into the STREET and Celebrate like it was Armistice DAY.

  5. Stick a fork into the United States and Canada. Progressives have full control over North America. Everyone sign up for Chinese language lessons and book your sex change operations. The Goddamn America campaign is on a roll. Awomen!

  6. Mail-in ballots? No problem.

Ziccarelli disputes the legitimacy of the election results based on a discrepancy between how various counties in the 45th District handled mail-in ballots.
In one county, mail-in ballots that did not have a date on them were discarded, while in another they were allowed. Ziccarelli is asking a judge to throw out 311 undated mail-in ballots, which would alter the results of the election.

  7. An Ontario hospital CEO resigned from his government various advisory-panel positions, after vacationing in the Dominican Republic.

    1. How nice for him. Keeps job and salary, his punishment is no committee so less work. Great work if you are corrupt enough to get it!

      1. Senior officials in hospital bureaucracies make lots of dough. Therefore there will little movement to fire this arrogant guy.

    2. Okay, but he didn’t resign from his post as the CEO of a hospital which was coping with Covid even as he vacationed.

      1. LindaL:

I have achieved peak wisdom in this one area at least. I no longer make any effort to brief friends and family members. As long as people rely solely on MSM they simply don’t know; and don’t want to know.
As to your phrase “supposedly intelligent”, pace our go-to guy VOWG, the only conservarive in Canada (TM) and the owner of the word ‘stupid’, intelligence is irrelevant. As the saying goes, You can’t REASON a person out of a position which he didn’t REASON himself into.

        1. Your comments and quotes are very welcome — I am feeling especially discouraged about this today. I have decided that some people are just too frightened to question “authorities.” It is frightening, but also dangerous to ignore the signs of creeping totalitarianism.

      2. LindaL:

Another saying: It is nearly impossible to persuade a person to change his opinion if his income depends on maintaining that opinion. If some commenters here are correct, about 40% of Canadians are employed directly or indirectly by the three levels of government. Again pace VOWG, they are not stupid; they pursue rational self interest.

      3. LindaL:

Sorry for the triple comment. I went looking for the exact quote for my quotes file.

“It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”
        – Upton Sinclair

P.s. Now if someone asks for your opinion that would be different.

  8. Blackie’s CBC is excited that the town council of Arnprior Ontario, has apologized for the mayor stating that systematic racism doesn’t exist in Canada. The CBC states that this story is part of its series that Canadians are racist bastards.

  9. How boring and sad Canada must be if we have to go back 46 years to recall our “glory” days for nothing more worthy than a mere hockey game. I’d have rather seen footage of Canadian Leopard tanks blowing holes in Taliban strongholds as Canadian soldiers storm the objective with a bunch of Taliban bodies littering the ground in the aftermath. We decry that today’s young men can’t hold a candle to their great-grandfather’s generation (the ones who weathered the Depression then stormed the beaches of Normandy, etc)…but it’s society’s fault for venerating effeminate men and disparaging normal male behaviour as “toxic”. Hard times make strong men. Strong men make good times. Good times make weak men. Weak men make hard times.

    1. “How boring and sad Canada must be if we have to go back 46 years to recall our “glory” days for nothing more worthy than a mere hockey game.”
Canada is in decline. I really don’t think we have a country left.

    2. The LIBERALS have SHAT upon Canadian Military HISTORY right alongside those who serve and have Served. As one who did, nothing these MOFO’s do or say in regards to the military surprises me. IT’S due to their GENETIC Quebecois disposition…

      FUCKING COWARDS the lot.

  10. Greatest game ever. Totally ruined my expectations of other sporting events. This is when I still cared and gave a sh!t and believed that we were a nation. Dryden in retrospect was totally overrated after seeing Tretiak.

    1. He sure was on that night. Although six Stanley Cups in 8 years isn’t too shabby a record. The Canadiens absolutely dominated the Russians that night except on the scoreboard. Maybe that was the night he decided he was a … Liberal.

    2. Tretiak’s reputation was made that night. He was good but doesn’t deserve the reputation he has. On a lesser team he would have been pretty ordinary.

Juri Holechek who played for the Czechs during the same era was a better goalie.

  11. With the failure of Canada to win the hockey game last night, progressives in Canada point out alternatives for men. Join one of the exciting new Margaret Atwood reading clubs at your local library, where feminist men like Dear Leader can sit and discuss the latest feminist, transgender, whiny indian, black lives matter books. Weak tea will be provided.

    1. Realistically, it was only a matter of time for the US hockey program to at least reach parity with Canada’s. They do have ten times our population. However, I was disappointed more in the lack of passion displayed than the level of skill. There was a time when Canadians would die (trying) rather than lose a hockey game. To paraphrase Leonard Cohen … First we take Don Cherry and then we take your balls.

    1. Thanks for the inspiration. Canada has lots of natural beauty waiting to be discovered.

      1. Canada has lots of natural beauty waiting to be discovered.

By our chicomm rulers. We, the ruled, will still be banned from travelling thanks to their virus.

  12. Both Canada and Australia currently have an identity problem as the activists invade our governments and the media attacking everyone as racist.

Who is more vocal and more dangerous usually gets the changes that are not in the best interest of its citizens.
If you object, then your slapped as having a racist view even though that in not what your objecting about or given a label due to being white or close to it.
Even with decades of changes, you, today are accused of others past transgressions.

    1. Who is more vocal and more dangerous usually gets the changes that are not in the best interest of its citizens.

Climate/Builder Barbie said much the same thing in her infamous bar video. She knew what she was babbling about in Parliament was horse puckey, but she added if one shouted and stabbed one’s finger in the air while making a point about it, people would tend to believe it.

Considering her candor, one has to wonder just how many drinks she had before she made those comments.

      1. BADR, yes the default winner in any debate today is the most passionate party. Passion, in and of itself, is a virtue: a social good. “Patience is a virtue” has been cancelled.

  13. Dear Leader is a busy little girl today. Justin will be speaking to groups of children across Canada on what a wonderful teacher he was, and how he is protecting them from Harper and white, colonial “settlers”. He is so wonderful! Later he will be on a B.C. radio station to explain how wonderful he is. Rumour has it he will be speaking in Chinese. Did I mention he is wonderful?

  14. NEW: US election data was forwarded from Frankfurt, Germany to Rome, Italy where the man pictured below partnered with members of MI6, the CIA, & the Italian defense-contractor, Leonardo, led the operation & built the algorithms that were used to manipulate US election data.

Currently, Mike Pompeo just happens to be in Italy …

    1. On a better day this fine LEO would have been harassing skaters on an outdoor rink. Should I be sad because the media is sad? Should I be sad because his gf is preggers? Honestly, I feel for her, but LEOs have been acting like out of control stormtroopers.
I’ll reserve my sympathy for those murdered by LEOs. People like six year old Ty Jacobs. CIASC wasn’t that public inquiry a fine piece of butt covering by all concerned?
      Sorry not sorry.

  15. FOX News, quoting a lengthy NYT article, says that the renowned (and Democrat) Jeffrey Toobin will be back with CNN news as a commentator, after being temporarily suspended following his masturbation scandal:
    https://www.foxnews.com/media/jeffrey-toobin-deletes-tweet-hell-be-back-masturbation-scandal

And why shouldn’t he be back on air? The Democrats own all three Houses in government; there will be more Obama-styled kickbacks to the media; Mr. Toobin is a Democrat doing commentary on a Democrat meium. With no accountability, what does CNN care about anything?

  16. The Liberal Party’s loyal Toronto Star is excited about the new Tamil police chief in diverse Peel Region Ontario. He will address the racist bastards in his police force, because racist bastards are systemic everywhere.

  17. Canada’s ultimate Fat City – Ottawa – is swiftly becoming Canada’s ultimate Stoned City. During the China virus “pandemic”, the city’s largest employer – the federal government – has continued to hire more employees even though it has thousands of employees on full pay staying at home and not working. The second largest employer – the city of Ottawa – hasn’t laid off any employees and is running the transit system as if demand is at normal levels, even though ridership has fallen by 65% (most civil servants are officially “working at home” and are not using public transit). And now comes news that the city’s retail cannabis sector is booming:

“The cannabis retail sector is booming.

The province does not limit the number of privately owned cannabis stores that can receive licences, although applicants go through a rigorous screening by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

Since last spring, a steady stream of stores have opened, with more to come.”

No need to travel outside the country. Come to Ottawa and get a government job. Stay home if you feel at risk from the China virus and get full pay and benefits. What me worry? Get stoned and visit your favourite destinations on YouTube all day long. Yes, we are all in this together.

  18. BEST REAL REPORTIG LIVE. DO a search for Steve Bannon War room. I can only find the audio online in Toronto. I can’t get the visual if there is one. I’m a computer retard. I am getting the LIVE podcast. They are getting interviews with all the important people on the right who have evidence and are tracking proceedings state by state. FOX and CNN are WORSE than useless. They are visibly treasonous in how they distort and lie about the news. Steve Bannon, whatever you think, is doing a magnificent job in his war room twice/day. Today I think they are running the morning session 10-12 longer to comment on the President’s speech. Recommended by my freedom obsessed well read Republican loyalist in Florida.

    1. I like Simon Parkes. He seems to know his stuff. The latest revelation re Obama plotting (Well, we knew that, didn’t we?) and Vatican involvement is explosive. Many pieces begin to fall into place.

    1. Great speech by her…although I found her “duth” was a bit weird..oh well, she is bang on…and I’m betting a supporter of Kurt Wilders..!!

  19. Regarding Ontario John’s comment about the mayor of Arnprior ON having to apologize for his `racist`(I guess) comment. Here is what he said “I still am struggling with the systemic part of it. I’m just being candid and honest” I am not sure what in fact the Arnprior council thinks he needs to apologize for. I guess the “honest” part. What is so outrageous is that a person can’t even have an opinion on the issue. Ultimately, we won’t know what anyone’s opinion is. I also think that claiming “systemic” racism is damaging to minority groups who are being sent a message that the institutions won’t give them a fair break. Well — who thinks that is helpful in any way? I doubt that the good folks in Arnprior are pleased with this. They traditionally have been down-to-earth, common sense people eschewing the over-the-top politically correct.

  20. Oh well. More betrayal of freedom.
Vice President Mike Pence said Wednesday he will lacks the constitutional authority to reject the electoral votes in favor of Democrat Joe Biden as president, rejecting President Trump’s recent repeated urgings to stop the process on Capitol Hill.

“The Constitution constrains me from claiming unilateral authority to determine which electoral votes should be counted and which should not,” Pence, who is presiding over the joint session of Congress, purportedly says in the letter.
    pic.twitter.com/8WJbv9A8Lx— Mike Pence (@Mike_Pence) January 6, 2021

Pence’s statement came just as Trump was speaking to a crowd at a rally in Washington, D.C., encouraging his vice president to “stand up for the good of our Constitution.”

“Mike Pence, I hope you’re gonna stand up for the good of our Constitution and for the good of our country, and if you’re not I’m gonna be very disappointed in you, I will tell you right now,” said the president to a large crowd near the Capitol
    NOT GOOD FOR CANADA.

  21. Breaking News all TV Channels…

Washington D.C. has just been put in lockdown mode…

  22. This is now officially a shitshow in D.C. People are pissed off.Antifa is there, but the crowds were streaming to buildings aside from the Capitol.Protesters have been told to clear the streets by dark. Good luck moving ALL those people by then. It’s tragic. People have deliberately been pushed too far in every area of their lives. They came looking for justice and leadership.Pence stabbed Trump in the back. At least, that’s the way I see it. He could have opened his yap a LOT SOONER. NO REASON TO WAIT FOR TRUMP’S SPEECH. PLANNED. There goes the Republic. It was never a fair fight. It was theft, corruption, greed, and systemic insider GLOBALIST rot. Hillary Clinton and Soros are drinking champagne while watching this.
