  1. Can’t wait for NDP leader Andrea Horwath and the bought and paid for media to rant that this is not enough. So when is Blackie going to resign for making that illegal trip to the private island of that muslim con man.

  2. What are the chances of Googling “liberal minister travel” and finding a liberal out there living out a very different post-trip reality?

    Yup. Thought so.

      1. Wonder how many librano MP’s are traveling? Anybody check the PMO to see where the Bong is?

How about the librano senior cabinet? There might be a lot more to this story yet to come.

  3. The man is definitely an asshole but at least shows a bit of honor.
He should have just paraphrased PM “I thought it was okay because I knew wasn’t a racist” Blackface and said “I thought it was ok because I’m really a Liberal and therefore a pathologic douche bag.”

  4. Rod Phillip performed an incredibly stupid, arrogant, tone-deaf, selfish and narcissistic, monumental mistake. At least he has owned up to it and resigned.

Meanwhile, off in liarberal land; there are no mistakes; the incredibly stupid, arrogant, tone-deaf, selfish and narcissistic purposeful and deliberated actions continue unabated. The blatant theft and corruption continue on as before. The morons of the east continue to say, “please sir, may I have another? Just as long as I get my free stuff and my fully indexed pension”

  5. The Spawn could continue destroying Canada (do what he’s doing now) from a tropical hot spot while partying in unprotected fashion, ignoring social distancing, etc, and the media would be fine with it and censor any criticism. The Ontario Finance Minister deserved criticism but only got it from the media because of his party affiliation. The media is an integral part of the institutional left and as such, is above the laws of the little people including Conservatives who are deemed unfit to govern always and everywhere. Extremely Red Tories are allowed temporary passes but only until outflanked further by the left.

  6. Agreed that he needed to resign.

Now if he was a Liberal, he’d take the Justin Trudeau approach; stay on but say, “Let this be a learning experience for us all!”

  7. Bye-Bye!! How could he be so stupid?!!

Oh, wait…this is Ontario’s “Progressive” Conservative Party.

Silly me. And all along we thought we had elected conservatives.

    1. you are a silly liberal A-Hole ignoring all the indiscretion by your patron saint Justin Trudeau. But then again nobody has ever accused a liberal voter of having any intelligence

  8. I don’t think that Phillips resigned on his own volition. I think Ford made him resign, because the media had not only found out that Phillips was on vacation down south, but, that Ford had known about this trip TWO WEEKS ago and hadn’t objected at the time.

However, when the media began to scream in horror – then, Ford began to publicly also ‘scream in horror’… and told the press that he was ‘ordering Phillips back immediately! So there. But then, when the media also told the public that, dear me and who let that slip…., Ford had known about this trip two weeks ago- and hadn’t objected back then, well, Ford, to save his own skin, had to get Phillips to resign.

By the way- I have a question. What’s wrong with Phillips having gone south on vacation? Does the presence of this Covid/Chinese virus mean that we are not allowed to travel? After all – aren’t planes arriving from China, India, Asia, Europe, the USA and elsewhere, everyday – at the airport? And also leaving for these places?

I think the real issue is the bureaucrats in government [you know, the ones who write the reports that the ‘doctors’ just sit and read to the TV monitors] – have told us to stay home and ‘not travel’. But the reality is that those planes are still flying; the arrivals and departures are still busy – and the cargo has to include people and not just Amazon gift boxes. Therefore – the real issue is: when will we, the public, acknowledge reality and insist that our government bureaucrats also acknowledge reality. This reality includes such interesting ‘facts’ as the increases in cases/infections during lockdowns!

    1. The deceptive idiot lied about the trip even making a Christmas Wishes video sitting by a fireplace for his constituents and other Ontarians consumption. That, above all else, is why he should have and did resign. Ford should follow suit.

      1. I acknowledge this – and my point is that he, and the bureaucrats, have set up an infrastructure where THEY can live ‘a different life’ than we, the peasants, can. So- rather than insisting that all of us stay home, that is, that all of us, including Phillips, live The Way They Tell us – my suggestion is that we, the deplorables, should instead insist on living The Way They Live. So, we should refuse to accept their top-down rules – and open our shop doors, open our restaurants, go on vacation, etc.

        1. There is nothing to prevent you from going on the same vacation as Phillips notwithstanding what the government says. Indeed, many are doing so. Phillips transgression was more hypocrisy than vacation.

    2. ET, but they are not admitting that their COVID dictates are wrong, and based on politics and not science or health reasons. So the whole damn works should resign

      1. T TS666 – yes, I agree, but ‘they’ are hardly going to, ever, admit that their Covid Rules are wrong and based on politics and not science. That will never happen!

And after all, Phillips merely resigned his portfolio as Finance Minister. He didn’t resign his JOB as MPP, with its salary, benefits, pension!

As for the fact that the government’s Rules are wrong, are destroying our economic infrastructure of private small businesses; are psychologically deeply, deeply harmful -turning us into fearful, suspicious and angry, lonely people; and are setting up political dictatorships – ‘they’ aren’t going to admit this! It will take historians a hundred years to write their solemn tomes about these disastrous political actions.

My point is that we, the people, should reject this gradual establishment of an Elite Aristocracy, this reduction and loss of our rights and freedoms and our new role as Passive Peasants. We should refuse – and open our restaurants, open our shops, travel…etc. If MASSES of the population do this, then, the government will be unable to deal with this ‘civil disobedience’ [they can’t fine 50,000 small businesses].

The people rose up in previous times against dictatorships. And should do so now.

    3. Good question ET. And I agree, was travelling wrong, or illegal? No, and no. Anyone can fly and vacay in a foreign land right now.
Sure, there’s the optics with 20/20 vision, but he left 2 weeks before the draconian lockdown by Turncoat Progressive Ford.
The Bloviating by the hypocritical media is nauseating.
All governments across this country have badly mishandled COVID. They have ignored therapeutics like HCQ and Ivermectin, and have ignored to advise the population to take Vit D, Zinc, and other cheap supplementary that can’t hurt to take them.
We are led by lying, deceitful tyrants that are arrogant and clueless.

  9. Read this “conservative” and “businessman’s” CV in Wikipedia:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_Phillips_(politician)
KPMG, Morneau-Shepell, OLG, Postmedia, CivicAction diversity initiatives, et al – i.e., he’s had his finger in every other supplicating public/private partnership, corporate state-fellating, government teat-suckling, taxpayer-fleecing boondoggle you can think of. Sadly indicative of what passes for “capitalism” in much of this country.

  10. Citizens are losing jobs and businesses do to arbitrary rules these hypocritical pricks are imposing on them. This douche and any other douche of any party needs their political careers ended for this behaviour.

    1. Yes, except for Le Dauphin who is so perfect that he need not be troubled by such petty notions such as ethics or the law. That is for the unwashed

  11. Window dressing. Are you seriously going to tell me Doug Ford the Premier of Ontario didn’t know where his finance minister was?
Just stop with the Kabuki theater.
    I’m sick of this shit.

  12. My favorite line, “I’lI start acting like this is a crisis when the politicians start acting like its a crisis”.

  13. The resolution for this problem shouldn’t be misery loves company and, therefore, Phillips should have resigned (he should have as well as others). The resolution should be calling everyone on their sh— and reacting accordingly. No more being locked in.

  14. Ya, ok. I actually find these kinds of resignations a bit artificial. The opposition thinks they have won some points, but the transgression on the part of Phillips was mostly optics. Does anybody care, besides Phillips? There is the hypocrisy angle, but really, if the politicos cheat, and it is discovered, the more it becomes obvious that they should drop the lock downs.

  15. Get back to me when he resigns his seat to make way for an actual conservative, and goes back to live in a real world where everybody knows he’s a scoundrel.

    I shan’t hold my breath.

  16. Agree SG…….they wonder why some people don’t obey their draconian orders . It demonstrates the fact that they don’t believe their own bullshit .

  17. Rex Murphy, in the NP, as usual says it perfectly – with the hypocrisy of the populist government saying ‘we are all in this together’. “Only some of us are on a beach in the sunny south, while some others cannot visit relatives in long-term care over Christmas”.

It’s not merely the hypocrisy. It’s the legal setting up of a two-tiered society, where an elite can live outside the Rules that they, and I repeat – they, set up for ‘the people’. This isn’t democracy; we, the people, don’t agree with these Rules – which are destroying our basic livelihoods, destroying our emotional well-being, destroying our very society. AND – are doing nothing, zero, to Stop The Virus. It’s where our police can arrest a restaurant owner, can arrest a boy playing hockey – but- a member of the Elite is merely gently chastised [by John Tory] with ‘he made a mistake’.

Actually, Phillips didn’t make a mistake. Legally, he could very well go on vacation to some sunny beach. What he did was to show us, in Living Technicolor, that the Elites exist and have a different lifestyle than the Deplorables. We, the peasantry, are encouraged to Be Moral Beings and Stay Home; Protect your Fellow Citizens. But the Elite live on a different Moral Platform – …and Phillip’s ‘mistake’ was to simply show us The Truth.

And we are angry at him? For showing us the Truth? Does Ford’s making him resign his position [NOT his well-paying job as MPP] – but merely his position as finance minister – does that serve to sweep the truth back under the Political Rug? Are we satisfied now that the FACT that the Rules apply to us [or the police will come, the fines will come] – but- not for the Elites? Why do we accept this?

  18. I don’t ever want to hear another a$$hole say “We’re all in this together” because we’re not and never have been. F*ck the elites, especially Dougie the dickless Ford’s cuckservatives. Time to dust off the tumbrils and buy Madame DeFarge some wool.

    1. “…especially Dougie the dickless Ford’s cuckservatives…”

Right especially them. Because all the harm done to us by Libranos is a ok. You would not flap your foul gums about them. But when you have a chance to dump at Conservatives, oh the season is on. F*** you hypocritical maxipad piece of excrement. F*** you concern troll. You’re nothing but a Librano plant. FOAD already.

  19. Remember when the Reform party was going to get rid of the “Gold plated Pension Plan” the Federal Libranos set up, but instead committed suicide as a political movement and joined in on the rape of the taxpayer ?
Why should any of these jagoff politicians who eagerly and happily take away everyones human rights and civil liberties be getting paid at all ? Why should they get paid for inflicting this unnecessary authoritarian coup while the politicians live the life of kings and queens.
Too bad people are such god damned sheep.
All privilege’s, taxpayer funded political and bureaucratic pensions along with taxpayer funded wages for politicians and bureaucrats should be immediately withdrawn until the authoritarianism ends… then we will “all be in this together”.
Why should Adamsons Bar B cue be shut down jackboot style merely by political dictate, but the corrupt politicians ordering the end of the business are still getting paid ? This practice of paying the masters to shut down the slaves is perverse and needs to stop now.
One thing is clear, these elite politicians hate Canadians.

    1. Preston Manning never joined in. Also — they did vote against the gold plated pensions. Once they were in place there was no reason for individual MP’s not to take them.
I don’t view that as hypocrisy.

      1. If true then I am happy to hear that Manning didn’t take the payoff.
The rest of the so called reformers did, as far as I remember.
It was that thuggish old bastard Jean Crooton that manipulated the whole process. Old Crotch gave the Reformers an ultimatum… accept the “gold plated pension plan” or get nothing by opting out.
In other words take the pension as the Liberals have concocted or get nothing. It was unfair and devious, but it worked for the old bastard and in the end the reformers took the money.
That “gold plated pension plan” is the reason that old Liberal grifters like Sheila Copps can live on an estate in Costa Rica… taxpayers are paying for it.
I don”t blame the Reform Party for the culture of corruption that permeates through the halls of our eroding House of Parliament, the rot of corruption was there long before they got into Parliament. Taxpayer funded pensions for politicians and bureaucrats is an immoral and perverse practice that guarantees and preserves corruption.

  20. Philip’s got what was coming to him. He left without telling anyone (according to Doug Ford) and then attempted to hide the fact from his constituents with fake media posts.

He destroyed the trust between himself and his constituents. He could no longer legitimately stand and ask people to follow orders he himself wouldn’t.

So he resigned….took the high jump with a size 14 Doug Ford footprint squarely in his back.
Looks good on him. He’s a man with no character.

    1. He wore the same clothes in all the “fake media” shots proving that the photos were all taken the same day.
      Ahahaha!
