    1. Not surprised they found a fast-food outlet. Just about everything else was nearby. And no need for graffiti. There are numerous signs sporting erect members pointing the way to nearby brothels. Absolutely brilliant! .

      1. Anyone familiar with the old TV series Up Pompeii would get the reference in my earlier posting.

        1. I saw some of it, will be ‘working’ through them this week to relax a little. They’re pretty kooky and fun! The reference to their Greek past does not go unnoticed.

(B — Also, enjoying the ‘Traffik’ series)

      1. I can see someone scribbling this on a wall:

“For a good time, call VII VIII IIII – V IX III IV”…..

  1. I dug out something from waaay back of my fridge last week. I wonder if I could hire these experts to tell me what it is, and if it’s something typical of white-hetero-racist-bigot’s preferred dietary fare??

    1. No need for experts. It’s a moldy Timmies honey cruller. By the way, the beer next to it is likely skunky by now. Inventory control buddy, inventory control.

  2. Nice discovery. I like the art work.

The Romans did not want to have to put out fires as may have been the case if everyone cooked their own meals. Some dwellings were spaces that were several stories. It was a lot more convenient and safer to eat out at the thermopolium. Here is their recipe for a burger, not likely like the $25 pub food found in Banff Alberta today. They called them “indicia omentata.”

“Eh, uno indicia omentata per favore.
Grazie mille! – Prego.  Grazie mille, arrivederci.”

    Isicia Omentata:
Pulpam concisam teres cum medulla siliginei in vino infusi. piper, liquamen, si velis, et bacam myrtam extenteratam simul conteres. pusilla isicia formabis, intus nucleis et pipere positis. involuta omento subassabis cum caroeno.

Just kidding, here is the English version:

    1. That must have been very tasty and what a lot of sophisticated ingredients. Civilization does have its perks. After the collapse of all that the people were lucky if they got course bread or oatmeal.

Just like what’s in store for us, eh?

      2. They always had beer though and wine even.
The Greeks and Romans brought us so much to be thankful for.

B— @ 11:09 pm –oh mercy, heaven forbid, shush!!

  3. It was the 24th August in the year 79 A.D. ….

“A heavy shower of ash, lapilli and lava from the volcano began to rain down onto the city and onto nearby Herculaneum and Stabiae. All was buried beneath a thick blanket of volcanic material to a depth of several metres. The inhabitants, who for the most part fled in the direction of the coast, were suffocated by the fumes of the gases, others met death in their own homes.”

  4. Pompeii worth a visit, and Vesuvius.
Lots of history. Colosseum completed around 80AD. Gladiator maybe not far off the mark.

  5. I heard it was going to reopen for business this year but health authorities shut it down due to COVID
