I Want A New Country

Anne Phair was having some coffee with some friends one day, back when you could still do that. They were talking about the federal carbon tax. Anne said, “I was talking to some friends, most of which don’t actually own their own businesses, and one was talking about how her grandma got some money back and she doesn’t ever get money back. And she was so surprised and I’m like, ‘Yeah, that was my money.’

  1. There will be hundreds of thousands of stories like these that won’t be told. I can hear the response, which will be a variation of “learn to code”.

The heart of this country will die a slow death because 65% of us somehow, somehow believe that policy genuises can design a better economy by forcing so called “market based” solutions on us.

They will fail miserably and we will be much much poorer before they are half finished,

  2. While the average Canadian is likely overwhelmed by currents events, ranting and complaining ain’t gonna accomplish anything.
We all know the future is bleak. Pay your debts, sell everything and go rural and become self-sufficient.
Or remain in the death traps that big cities are and play that fiddle.

    1. Yup.

      Get away from the zombies.
Get close to where food is grown and get to know the locals who produce food.
Learn to hunt, fish, and grow your own food.
Develop a skill that you can barter with for food.
Switch to wood heat if you can.
      Have long term food storage.
Take advantage of any programs that exist to insulate.
Gather your friends and family close.

    2. Many of us, my friend do not have that option….nor the $$$ to do so.
I’d just like to acquire one of these so called “illegal firearms”…A Colt 1911 would be lovely.
I’m thinking it may come in handy…

If need be, we leave our condo take what we can, grab the truck/5th Wheel and adios….

  3. Even after an election and JT is sent packing. PM in waiting tool will my not repealing the carbon tax entirely just stop the increasing.

    1. O’Toole isn’t getting any traction. The new media narrative taking shape is that he’s Scheer 2.0, that he’s got no policy ideas of his own, that he’s just bashing Trudeau, that he can’t keep the social conservatives in line, blah blah blah. Standard Liberal / MSM playbook to bash Conservatives and keep the LPC in power.

Face it, this country is addicted to the LPC and only votes them out when the stench of their corruption grows so foul that even Ontarians & Quebecers can no longer ignore it. Put a teflon leader on the LPC, like Chretien and now Trudeau, and that stench grows for a long, long time. All while the LPC loots & pillages the country to its greedy heart’s content. Cheered on by the MSM every step of the way, because aren’t those Conservatives scary? Don’t they have a hidden agenda? To round up all the gays and give everyone guns and cut granny’s medicare?

There simply are nowhere near enough Canadians who value freedom over.. whatever passes for it in the country these days.

      1. He doesn’t do or say very much. I can’t remember anything he’s said for more than 5 minutes.

        1. O’Toole is useless to us as are all the tall foreheads in the CPC. All they care about is keeping the MPs seats safe, collecting their paychecks and making sure the hangers-on are well taken care of. They are very good at that.
On the other hand, they don’t give a damn about you or me.

  4. This carbon tax is a tax on the productive. The farm I work for the owner showed me a bill were they payed $5000 carbon tax on propane for grain drying . When you are drying grain life isn’t good the farm is in survival mode . I did the math on a combined burning
65liters an hour works out to $25 an hour per machine . If that combined works 10 hours a day for 45 days that is $11,250 .00 dollars in carbon tax . That money is being given to people in big city’s to buy votes . The farm can’t add that to cost of grain as they deal in world market . Our farmers are some of the best in the world. They got there by reinvesting in there farms, using the best practices and working there ass off. This government things it is okay to take there hard earned money and give it away it is disgusting.

  5. Has anyone thought of … perhaps refusing to pay the god damned carbon tax?

it’s the old … ‘if everyone just refuses’ … it would work, but you will never get enough people on side to be effective.

So keep paying until you are unemployed then apply for some of your money back in the form of welfare.

    1. J West, Same thing with the gun ban, if enough of us refuse to surrender our firearms, we would tie up the courts for forty years, and even using RCMP ERT to invade homes would be prohibitive with two plus million gun owners, but unfortunately, we don’t work together, whether it’s guns or carbon taxes, and too many stupids voting for hair and socks, and free stuff!

  6. I have never met anyone who has received a GST or Carbon tax rebate check. Never! To many people seem to take some kind of comfort in the idea that the Liebels are simply stupid as they stumble around the offices of power in Ottawa. They are not stupid. They are doing exactly what has been going on since the country was founded. They funnel the riches produced in this country back to Central Canada. They create divisions and dole out enough to selected groups to maintain their power. Canadians seem to think that if they simply hang on that the next government will be smarter and save them. IMHO the underpinnings of our economy in the West is being gutted. The energy industry has been under attack for 5 years and now agriculture is next.

I recently read a biography of a fellow who was farming in Saskatchewan in the ’30’s. In 1937 he went to Regina to a agri conference that federals representatives were attending. This farmer wasn’t getting enough yield to re-plant. When he confronted the fed rep the man said you won’t get any help from us. We know you farmers have all the food you can eat. You are hoarding your food! This was said to a grain farmer from Gull Lake.

Don’t expect anything from these people. Rural areas that depend on energy to make their living will be forced into cities. They want rural areas emptied and the cities dependent on their handouts.

    1. Some money they funnel to Kenya and other remote places for no other apparent reason then simple theft.

      1. No Exiat, Places like Kenya and other “far flung shitholes” have UN people voting for Justhin to become a UN Sec Gen one day. Is that apparent enough? How about donating “excess” Covid vaccine to poorer countries, for the same reason. It ain’t bleating heart policy, it’s future bless his heart politics!

he ain’t intelligent or smart, but he’s making sure to butter his bread on both sides.

    2. For about a year, Red Rachel used to send out rebate cheques to us here in Alberta. Then she decided to put that money into general revenue and those cheques stopped coming.

      1. Like the Liberal Canadian Pension Plan usage. They all do it despite it being illegal by their own definition.

    3. I never get a dime back as I really apparently have too much money. I hope I live a little longer to screw the bastards out out of a few more of MY dollars.

      1. I play the Tax laws to my advantage, you should too, whenever possible. We bought dividend paying stock with our COVID cash, not much, but enough to buy a loaf or two because seniors only got $300 bucks each, one time. I haven’t paid Income Tax for years…legally, too.

  7. All I want to know is how the heck did this piece of journalism get released? Somebody’s not doing their job of stamping out the kulaks.

    1. I saw that too!
Actual journalism being practiced, out in the open.

      ‘Dogs and cats living together…etc.’

  8. A carbon tax works to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere, in the same manner that making food unaffordabIe can heIp you Iose weight.

  9. Dear Leader has solved all of Canada’s problems, so according to his schedule he is taking a personal day. And the Liberal Party’s CBC website is excited that Canada will take 100 refugees that Australia rejected.

  10. We can’t remain silent and polite.
Ask people why they voted for these Marxist idiots.
Ask teachers why they promote the global warming anti-oil nonsense.
Ask people why they are stupid enough to believe the MSM lies.
If you call them idiots they might do some research to try to prove you wrong.

    Being nice hasn’t worked.

  11. “her grandma got some money back and she doesn’t ever get money back. And she was so surprised and I’m like, ‘Yeah, that was my money.’””

A big part of it was grandma’s own money. They slipped it out of her back pocket and handed it back to he as a gift. Sort of like an aboriginal giver, only they take it back before they give it.

    1. I asked my mother-in-law the following question: Imagine for a moment how wealthy you would be if you had not as a person at the edge of the poverty line had to pay any taxes at all? She had no answer.

  12. The theft will abate when thieves hang from every tree and lamppost.
And when the survivors fear their fellow men so much that they would sooner get a job than swing.
Canadians are stupid,we descend into poverty, claiming that being robbed is “Good for society”
That “We care so much, should be blind to the waste and pillage”.
Liberal,Conservative,NPD..all same creatures, career ne’er do wells, with concrete delusions of adequacy.
