  1. I don’t understand the concern with proof of vaccination …. if u have been vaccinated who gives a rats ass what others have done ie u are safe?
If u don’t want the vac …. so what … it is only yourself at risk and the others supposedly have their vacs. What silliness.
Obviously I am somewhat ignoring the 6 month vaccine rollout but u see my point.

Good work Kate and merry xmas to u and all the other folks posting and reading here.

      1. Yes, but the government now owns your body, because you, the editorial you, were stupid enough to vote for socialism. That socialism is what Canada now embraces. All parties with exception of the PPC are socialist, from extreme left with the greens and the n d p to the conservatives who are socialist lite. There are no options left in Canada. Canadians are no longer capable of rational critical thought and that is what brings us to where we now are. I never thought that I would live long enough to see so many suicidal a holes occupy half a continent. It does not matter how the truth is given to them to them they are unwilling to see the truth. I know people hate it when I say Canadians are stupid, but stupid is a terrific word and covers everyone in the so called educated spectrum. Good luck folks , I do not see an improvement in the stupidity ever. We are really dumb enough to commit mass suicide, well, no not me, but maybe 30 million idiots in Canada.

    1. Reason? The exact same irrational fear and paranoia gripping the unwashed masses across our country right now, continues.
The Karens will demand this. Maybe even the vaccinated will be chipped as proof. But that’s a whole other subject.

      1. The karens get their jollies out of that. Finally, the social order has been properly organized so that they are in charge and can impose their will on people.

    2. The idea is to be able to return to normal life, like flying, for example. If the airline won’t let you on board without proof of vaccination, you’ll be grounded.

      1. dirtbag ,, sorry I mean dirtman find another airline they can’t be all a;;holes like united/ scair canada

        1. Open your eyes Ynot, they most certainly can be all a;;holes, and even if they aren’t the government will force them to be.

      2. as I said in another post. I will not be able to take the poison for medical reason, are thy just going to kill me?

        1. If we won’t take the needle, they will make us bite down on the black capsule. Hopefully I’ll permanently injure a couple of the lowlifes that hold me down.

      3. How about the airline will not be allowed to operate if they engage in those practices? Ever thought of that dipshit?

      4. You mean just “I don’t want to”, so I won’t pay, and I don’t show up at the airport, wasn’t a good enough excuse for them to not let me on board?

    3. I believe the Chairman of Mastercard indicated he’d be ready, willing and able to block charge privileges to people that hadn’t been vaccinated. This was actually at a much larger Davos style meeting where global vaccine elites met to talk about new technology that permanently marks one’s DNA for ongoing identification. Sorry, I couldn’t find the article. It was from Instapundit last month.
I’m too young and too old to be feeling this level of rage for such an extended period.

  2. Proof of vaccination will become this generations Ausweis

A document that will “allow” one to come out onto the street – drive here through this checkpoint and that checkpoint. Cries of “RAUS..!! Papieren schnell..!!” will be heard throughout Chinada.

    bet on it…

  3. It never occurs to these people that some people don’t even have a “smart” phone. Especially some older people who never got on the tech train.

I have downloaded exactly 4 apps that are relevant and useful to me. My phone is at least 7 years old. Probably too outdated to even support certain new apps. It came with bloatware apps that I don’t know what they are, can’t uninstall and never use.

    1. Especially some older people who never got on the tech train.

I had cellphones about 20 years ago but I soon found out they’re not all what they’re cracked up to be. Parts of them are now in my junk box.

      Smartphones? No, thanks.

    2. Right. “Smartphones? No thanks!”
Tell’em you gave up your smart phone for one that is even smarter. Tell’em that you use a new flip phone where nobody tracks your whereabouts, nobody knows what you’re reading and nobody reads your mail. Watch their eyes pop. I tried it many times. Works.

P.S. It got me a 20% off once at a store when I asked the manager why their store penalizes a customer because they don’t have THE right kind of phone.

      1. Tell’em you gave up your smart phone for one that is even smarter.

Mine is located between my ears.

        1. If my head starts ringing, it’s probably because of what I drank the night before….

        2. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve said, “I don’t use that app, because I have this thing called a “brain”.”

          1. Use of your brain others than to keep yourself functionally alive will be forbidden under “The Great Reset”. Remember TGR is all about getting everything right, correcting all of the wrongs of the past and producing a perfect society as a result.

    3. Meh…I hear that.

I still Use BlackBerry. Yes, this one is Android based, (Motion), but I simply love the way BB has 1 “app” where I get ALL my notifications..it’s called the HUB. Unlike Apple and other makers where one has to login and go to every separate app for every notification…the HUB Collects them all. Intelligent and it works.

If things go truly south, I may well ditch this Google enabled unit and go back to using either my old Q20 (Classic), or my Z30. Upon EITHER of these extremely well built devices will I be bothered about what I was just talking about, or where I was visiting or did I like this Liquor store etc.

None of that shit…am thinking it may be much more peaceful and FAR FAR less intrusive as well.

      1. I loved the company Blackberries as well. Small yet very functional. The problem I had was living in a rural area, only about half of my meeting updates and the like were captured. So, unless on business travel, it remained at the office. I accidentally discovered that Motorola cell phones had much better range than most others and so went that direction for several years. I’d probably still be using them but thought the cell division had been sold to the Red Chinese. We have Apple stock so bought my first IPhone. Once you use one, it’s self evident.

    4. Finn, I am 71 years old, and do not a smart phone, only a tablet. I was tested three weeks ago, tested negative, so the few times I meet someone, I say something like “I was tested negative three weeks ago”, or something like that. But any response I get is something like “Big deal, so what?”or “Great. So you want a pat on the back, you twerp you?”. So I stopped telling people.

So in that sense Kate is right as to wanting to have an app.

      1. Try claiming an exemption and that’ll still get people mad at you. How dare you have a unique status when they can’t have one?

  4. Let’s analyze this.

From the post by Yang, is he the guy that wanted to be president (?), and the many replies it’s rather clear how easy it is to slip into fascism.
Greater good, a newspeak for the masses.
You acquiesce your own good for someone else’s greater good.
You better submit or else, you may be marked for cancelling or elimination.
If the greater good dicktates (sic) that you stay home for a year, well you better stay home for a year if it kills you.
It’s for the greater good, you know.
    So shut up and submit.

It is utterly unbelievable that free people are so quick to accept fascism. As it happens today, it comes in many different facets. Completely accepted by the crushing majority of ignorant led by those that went to school for a long time, have no marketable skills and learned how to blather endlessly. Surprisingly they make good living in the process of doing that.

In regard of politicians, the fascism is preferred governing style.
The demagogues, vast majority of politicians, are in their element telling other people how to live. They just love it and can’t believe in their luck living in today’s state, to seize control is almost as easy as a whiff of wind, you won’t even notice until it will be too late.
    We may be there now.
The plebeians are good with that and will vote for socialism/fascism every time they get the chance.

Those that are interested in the affairs of men are fewer these days and are mostly silenced except places like SDA.

    I know it’s a rant …. whatever.

    1. “The irony of ‘Greater Good”.
      https://www.post-journal.com/opinion/local-commentaries/2014/10/the-irony-of-the-greater-good/

“Collectivism is the idea that that the greater good takes precedence over individual good. The flourishing of the collective, the group, or the society is viewed as more important than the needs and desires of any individual. Communism, Fascism and all other forms of socialism are formalized, political implementations of the collectivist mentality.” …..

    2. Completely accepted by the crushing majority of ignorant led by those that went to school for a long time, have no marketable skills and learned how to blather endlessly.

In an interview with John Batchelor that I heard yesterday, Victor Davis Hanson made an interesting comment about people like that. Many of them study some sort of fruitloopery in university and, when they graduate, they are shocked to find that the world does not welcome them with open arms. They end up taking jobs as barristas because that’s all they are really qualified for.

Those people then see tradesmen, who do have something to contribute through their training, making a pretty good living. Those tradesmen are then resented because they are making more money than those barristas who have all that fancy-schmancy, but useless, university education. Those same barristas, then, conclude that the system is wrong and unfair and biased against them, which is why they end up joining the Dippers, the Dumbocrats, or even Antifa as a way of correcting that great injustice.

      1. Unfortunately, the highly “schooled” woke are not limited to fast food and over-priced coffee outlets. They become corporate and public sector diversity, personnel, public relations, bureaucrats, board members, and even executives. They are also computer geeks or journalists who have gone on to run social media and legacy media. They are the new and more degenerate institutional left manufactured by the old institutional left of socialized education.

    3. A rant yes…but spot on.
as OWG is fond of Saying, CANADIANS are STOOPID. No argument there whatsoever.
We have “allowed” ourselves the dubious luxury of seeing our Children being INDOCTRINATED into Socialist thinking by those who see MARX and Lenin as Gods: UNIONIZED Educators.

I continue to maintain that all the Communist EVIL in our Western Hemisphere resulted from our allowing Public Servants to Unionize…That was the root of the rot.

And now when one looks at all levels of Govt Paid HOEs….I’d be surprised if they did not comprise at least 50% of the population.

      1. I am not STOOPID. I have been taking my smart pills.
And if you send me $9.95 plus shipping, you can too.

      1. Indeed. Certainly the conservative Baptist church that I regularly attend is chock full of communists, including me. All the anti-communist work I have done since the mid-1980s, and all the anti-China advocacy I have been doing these past two years, has been all in my mind. I must have missed something during my political life. Thank you for setting me straight.

        1. DM, when you can’t6 understand the difference between an individual and a collective, you got comprehensive issues

      2. True Christianity does not promote communism.

        Isaiah 65:21, 22. NIV
21 They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands.

        Micah 4:4 NIV
4 Everyone will sit under their own vine and under their own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the LORD Almighty has spoken.

GOD wants a relationship with individuals, not groups.

        1. Bah. That’s a heresy, or so I was told in many Sunday sermons which emphasized “true” Christianity is all about violent revolution, “social justice”, and wealth confiscation–er, “re-distribution”. (Yeah, right.)

          1. Many years ago when communists took the power in a small, mostly catholic country in the center of Europe, they actually used Christianity to try to fool the plebeians to accept communism.
I know first hand that this is what happened. It is how they, the communists tried to entice the small farmer to get together “for the greater good” to form prescribed collective farms.
The communists even made a record of how many acres of land each farmer involuntary contributed and that when things don’t work out they will get their land back. Yeah … right.
They used Christianity, it was not working so they resorted to threats and death.
In a books Delayed Reports and Taste of Power, by a communist journalist and writer that eventually became available, he reported that they hauled farmers from a village into a wagon pulled by tractor, they took them for a ride, told them that if they don’t sign up for the collective farm, they will take them to the glorious Soviet Union. They, the farmers had no choice than to sign up.

Now think what will happen with the vaccination. Threats, police questions, threat of prison camp, been there done that.
I’m posting myself at the end of the line. All the hard done by minorities can take the vaccine in front of me, being a generous kin of guy, I won’t object.
With any good fortune, the dicktators (sic) will run out of the stuff by then.

    4. Go for it Lev, a rant is the only satisfaction you can get these days, probably a great blood pressure reducer. At least Kate provides a place to do it and have it seen. I have not been able to have a post last longer than 10 minutes on the National Post in a long time and I have absolutely no idea why, other than disagreeing with someone’s narrative. I had a post deleted for saying people should stop using hospital emergency rooms as walk in clinics, something every doctor I have had for years has said to me…..the horror!

  5. Haven’t heard yet that the gov’t will be moving on disclosure of private health information.

Good luck with that. And, “just this one time” isn’t going to work. It’s all or nothing.

  6. As if having proof of vaccination is going to make things any better for you. You’ll still need to wear a mask and social distance, you’ll still have to shelter in place and all group activities will be restricted, life is not going to get any better. It’s just that *not* having your proof of vaccination will make things much worse for you. There are no rewards for complying with their mandates, only punishments if you don’t.

  7. Yellow Stars sewn onto your clothing or armbands followed by cattle cars and debugging showers. Should not be long until they arrive at the FINAL SOLUTION. Keep Your Guns

    1. what was that silly comment I made about killing one’s enemies before they kill you, yes, that was it.

    2. I can’t believe this is happening so quickly. All my U.S. smugness has dissipated thanks to the corrupt Dims.

  8. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2020/04/challenge-proximity-apps-covid-19-contact-tracing

My iPhone routinely notifies me of the COVID proximity app, and scolds me to download it. Eff THAT! It’s bad enough that Apple can track my every movement … but to GIVE that same data to some government bureaucracy ain’t gonna happen.

And what if I DID get the app … and it sends me a *SHOCKING* alarm WARNING me that I have been “near” a COVID carrier … every time I go to the Home Depot? Will I stop going ? No. Therefore the app is USELESS to me. No thanks.

      1. I gather that many such devices now have something like an ID transponder (similar to what airliners use) inside them that allow the network to which they are connected to determine one’s location and, thereby, whether one is in close proximity to a “carrier”.

If one can have a continuous connection to that network, then so can that transponder.

        1. You’re some form of radio enthusiast, right?

All smartphones have GPS units in them with a resolution of under 3m. Even if you turn the GPS off, the relative signal strength to the local cell phone towers allows triangulation of your location. The police use this to locate 911 calls from cell phones.

For all the Luddites: your GPS-less flip phone can be triangulated the same way.

          1. Even lunch money “burner” flip phones now have aGPS, WiFi and Bluetooth running on a programmable operating system. WiFi triangulation is even more precise than cell tower or GPS triangulation.

They do generally have the advantage of a removable battery, so they can be denied power. For now.

          2. So can I get something on my old flip-phone that says I have the plague, so it will ring your smart phone and flash “Unclean! Unclean!” on your screen and you’ll stay away from me? What’s the catch? There has to be a catch. There always is.

          3. Even lunch money “burner” flip phones now have aGPS, WiFi and Bluetooth running on a programmable operating system.

As I think was mentioned elsewhere, most current “feature phones” are in fact running a smartphone OS and have smartphone hardware, they’re cheap because the most expensive part of a smartphone is the touchscreen.

There have been kickstarters in the past for “anti” smartphones – cell phones that do nothing but send and receive calls. They’re aimed at parents who want to give their kids a cell phone for emergencies without giving them texting or video capabilities. They might be an option.

It’s also worth noting that Android is an open source operating system, and there are “open source hardware” phones. I’ve no doubt that some cypherpunk somewhere has compiled a ROM image that has all the unnecessary communication removed, or at least togglable.

        2. Every phone has a unique device ID number hard coded into it, independent of it’s unique phone service number. It doesn’t have it’s own radio though. It uses cell, WiFi, Bluetooth and even ultrasonic sound to receive and transmit data without your interference or knowledge. The device is it’s own transponder, it doesn’t need one embedded. If there are a few WiFi access points/routers in range of your phone, your phone can be located with a precision of about 6 feet, even within your own home, and this information is used to profile you. Turning on airplane mode does not disable this. If your phone receives notifications while “asleep” putting it to sleep does not disable this. Powering it down may disable it, but if you are an actual target of surveillance it may be possible to make your phone pretend to be powered down remotely.

          It’s a Brave New World.

        3. Speaking of ID transponders, there is a fairly new ‘travel time advisory’ service working on Calgary roads. It is used to display your expected travel time from one point on a main road to another somewhat farther away. Theoretically to let you get around congested points on your way.

It works by grabbing your phone’s ID based on a bluetooth radio connection as you drive by two or more monitored locations. It then uses that information to display the travel time to other drivers coming along behind you.

I was surprised to see this the first time since I did not think that bluetooth radio has a range beyond about 30 feet. And I wouldn’t think it would work well from inside a car to a roadside transciever.

          Calgary travel times

          1. Went to the link and saw “This is a development server and not intended for public consumption”. Okay.

        4. He’ll, there’s tons of apps that do that as well.

SNAP…my girls n wife use it all the time ..and it has location beacons for each of us. Nothing new at all.

      2. VOWG, CHILL!

The app works, using Bluetooth on your phone. When in proximity to others, with the app, and the BT enabled, makes a quick connection, a data point, and stores it. If one of the “close contacts” tests positive, then the software goes into notify mode, like a domino effect.

Instead of getting mad at software, understand how it works first.

Think logically, Mr Spock has dead on rights to that. Basic engineering fundamentals

        1. Stores also use this method to analyze customer movement. It helps them determine the effectiveness of advertising, displays, etc.

        2. Not mad at the software … but very wary of its use. And the data of my personal movements being tracked by some ‘Block Captain’ who will make social credit deductions if I fail to STAY HOME … LOCKED DOWN … as demanded by ‘Health’ Bureaucrats. The same ‘Health’ Bureaucrats who are now saying that illegal Mexican Farm Workers are the MOST ‘essential’ of all Workers (what would we do without strawberries picked by ‘brown people?) … and deserve the COVID vaccine before elderly white people (American Citizens). No. I will NOT give my personal data to these Bolsheviks

      3. Mobile phones are VERY good tracking devices. They ONLY work by communicating with the nearest tower with a good signal. This tower then tells the central control computer what you want to do and the central computer finds the phone you wish to contact. In urban areas, because of “issues” with signal degradation, multi-pathing, etc, your phone is passed from tower to tower as you move. MORE than one tower will be in “contact” with your phone, but the system tries to hook you up to the best signal.

However, the data received by the three or more towers can be crunched VERY quickly to determine your location to within a hundred metres of less. It does this for EVERY phone on that service. If you get “paper” or electronic phone bills, check if you receive a “call log” which lists ALL calls made by your phone , the number you called and the duration of the call. It may also list the ‘name’ of the tower your phone was first routed through.

ALL of this data is collected by the phone service provider. It is also not an entirely passive system, either. Your phone sends out regular “pings” looking for “replies” from the network, via any towers within range. If you have ever heard your old AM radio or vintage Hi-Fi make strange “chattering” noises when you are near them sometimes, that is the “digital splatter” from your phone checking in with the network. Thus, whilst your mobile phone is switched on, the system automatically knows your approximate position. This is so that if someone on the other side of the planet is trying to call YOUR number, the central computer of their network will talk to the central computer of YOUR network which will then route the call to the tower that has logged the best signal with your phone. If you are on a bus at the time, your local system will pass you from one tower to the next, pretty much seamlessly, as you move across the landscape. This all happens in milliseconds, on a global scale, 24/7.

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

This same technology makes a lot of other interesting things possible, as well.

      1. Yea…getting close to reactivate my BlackBerry Z30 again….no Google – no intrusive shit whatsoever…it might actually be nice for a change..!!

  9. It would be easier to have tattoos on the arms. To make it easier, the first three numbers would show the country. For Canada it could be 666

    1. …or a Star of David on one’s back.

In Denmark, during WWII, the Germans required all Danish Jews to wear this sign. So the Danes responded by all people wearing the Star. But in Canada these days, that response would never happen.

  10. Yang is saying out loud what many of the left want.

Frustrated with having to justify their arguments and actions, they assume superior intellect, morality and ethics when the opposite is true, proved by their subsequent coercive behaviour.

They’re oblivious con artists who can get violent if you get uppity with them, especially if you have a certain tattoo.

People keep wondering how far Trudeau and Biden leaderships will go.

My answer, against by better nature, is they will do every stupid thing you can think of as long as it gives them authority over us.

How many people thought we’d be in masks six months ago? Does anyone seriously doubt Yang’s proposal will be fulfilled?

Trudeau warns us of a dark winter, luckily the climate is too warm, and says China is only hurting itself railroading our citizens.

At least Americans have the possible check of mid-term Congressional elections. What’s our fail safe?

Canadian savings rates are up over $150b in 2020, most of it government lucre borrowed because nobody would lend it to taxpayers. Car sales are up; so is real estate. Dare I say it, we’re becoming more like North Korea, which has three economies.

Eventually consumption addicted Canadians will spend that money and we will see a spike in GDP. For $600b debt, no biggie.

Lowest in decades, rates that is. Oh, what if interest rates rise? Or worse still statists crater the economy with deflation.

Game the election, in DeMarxist fashion, suppress and vilify any “bad news,” until after the collectivist victory, power assured.

  11. Helpful reminder down that thread.

    Trust the science.

    https://twitter.com/GeeseWhole/status/1340309217962561537/photo/1

    Some truthiness.

“Alberta has registered 451 deaths attributed to COVID-19 to date. The average age of those who have died is 82 years old, which is on par with Canada’s official life expectancy statistics.

Despite the seemingly large number of deaths, the province’s statistics clearly show that only 10 people have died from COVID-19 alone. The majority of the deaths, or 325, are listed as having three or more comorbidities.

At the end of Hodkinson’s commentary, he spoke about Alberta’s COVID-19 statistics, saying that the “risk of death under 65 in this province is one in 300,000. One in 300,000.”

  12. What about those of us who have had the virus and recovered? I’m already immunized from that, and it’s a better immunity than vaccination – 100% effective.

    1. My mother, who passed away a about a year ago hated tattoos, why, she lived to 99years of age and the tattoos the Jews received to brand them was antipathy to her, she freaking hated what those tattoos stood for, and told her children that they they should never accept being branded like an animal. I feel the same about people literally mutilating their bodies with ink. It is not art, it is the proof that you do not like your body as it is.

      1. Wait to you see those who went out to get branded for real. Not ink but a hot iron on the skin. The scar looks gross. While “healing” it is susceptible to infection.

      2. It is not art, it is the proof that you do not like your body as it is.

I’ve seen many gorgeous women who’ve had themselves tattooed. I remember one pretty young lady who used to go to our apartment’s gym but her back was covered with them. My question was “Why?” Her tattoos only diminished what she was naturally endowed with, adding nothing to that.

Equally as disconcerting is when I see middle-aged women adorning themselves with such epidermal graffiti. Again, why?

However, if one insists on doing that, make sure it can be easily reversed or removed if one changes one’s mind. Whenever I grow a beard, such as in winter, I can always shave it off if I don’t like it or it’s the wrong season for it. A tattoo is someone one is stuck with. I can imagine seeing seniors homes soon being filled with tattooed grannies.

        1. B.A….I believe it was Jimmy Buffet who said “a tattoo is a permanent reminder of a temporary insanity”
          Works for me!

  13. My carrier is taking the 3g network down, so I had to get a new phone and it turns out all the 4G flip phones run apps. They’re arranged to look like feature phones, but they aren’t. Mine, however, doesn’t run Android or iOS apps. KaiOS. It’s a Linux kernel with a Mozilla browser rendering engine (Gecko) as the interface. Something like a Raspberry Pi with a cell modem. It should at least have minimal tracking if I avoid Google services.

Since it basically only runs a browser, the api is HTML5 and Javascript. I might have to get another just to hack it.

    1. kfg, I don’t have a clue of what you posted above, Mostly, it had about as much information for me that Mandarin Chinese does. I did recognize some of the small single syllable words, but the rest was beyond my comprehension. You state your network took down 3G, ( I keep reading about 5G but have no clue what the G’s are, or mean.) and you “HAD” to get a new phone? Is that correct, that now the older phone will no longer work, and your phone company can make you buy a new phone? Or, will it only work with basics? If so, I want one. Can you recommend a simple phone that does not track me or use apps? Will a “Burner” type phone be an advantage for simple use? Many questions that I don’t know the answers too.

OK, that said, I do have an I phone, so I can communicate with my kids easier, one kid in London England, and one in BC, but a hundred and fifty miles, plus a ferry away.
I had my daughter, who is somewhat tech savvy, remove all the apps from my phone. I can calculate, take pictures and short video, text and yes, even talk on it. That is all I need. If I am ever forced to “download an app” my phone will suddenly become broken, and it will not be replaced! Next step might be a “free” smart phone forced on us by a caring government, so we can have the app,s but sigh I keep losing such things all the time.

      1. The term “5G” refers to the fifth generation of service. I don’t know too many of the details, but, presumably, the signals can carry all sorts of data along with the basic information. So, for example, if one is listening to a live streamed program, one can also get all the particulars transmitted with it.

        1. Yes 5G refers to 5th generation, but there is nothing linear about the progression.
5G uses a different frequency spectrum, which also allows for much much greater bandwidth and speed. It uses the MICROWAVE spectrum.
Now, the mention of that word, has sent conspiracy theorists into an outright tizzy.
The government wants to kill us off with 5G.
5G will be used with COVID to kill off the population.
5G will enslave us as drones for the NWO.
Microwave is just a name for the frequency bands, but 5G communications have have little to nothing to do with boiling a cup of tea in your kitchen microwave. The massive majority of the population knows SFA about science, other than what Justin tells them (CO2 is pollution), or any other manipulating psychopathic leftist tells them to BELIEVE and OBEY.
By the way old CDMA and EVO networks should now be unavailable, they were deemed obsolete

      2. TL;DR; new flip phones are smart phones disguised as dumb phones (even the $20 prepaids), so if you wish to avoid smart phones (and there are good reasons to do so), keep your old one running as long as possible, but be aware that you’re going to be forced off of it.

” . . . you “HAD” to get a new phone? Is that correct, that now the older phone will no longer work, and your phone company can make you buy a new phone? ”

That is correct. The frequencies and protocols change, so the old phones cannot either receive or interpret the newer broadcast equipment. In desktop computers when something like this happens you can, at least for a time, swap out the old circuit board for a new one, but phones have all their components soldered to the board in the interest of making them as small as possible, so it’s toss out and replace the entire device.

“Or, will it only work with basics?”

It will still perform whatever computer functions it had (I still have an old 2G feature phone that I use as a stopwatch), but it will not communicate over the phone network. I do have an Android phone, but have never activated cell service on it. It functions as a tablet (over my home WiFi) that I can stick in my pocket. I get my email, browse the web, watch videos streamed online or from my own media server, listen to music (streamed to my stereo set), read ebooks, upload and download from my “cloud” storage, etc. It just won’t connect to the phone network, except for 911 calls, as that capability is required by law, but only so long as it is actually capable. If it can’t send and receive signals due to actual hardware incompatibility the requirement is moot.

        “That is all I need.”

There ya go, and if it’s an iPhone 5 or newer, and therefore 4G, you shouldn’t have to worry about your phone service for a long time. 5G will supplement, not replace 4G, because 5G only works at short distances and mostly line of sight.

        1. Kfg..
          Ha…good to know!

I knew there was a reason for my hanging onto a cpl BlackBerry OS10 phones..!!
          (Classic Q20 & a Z30)

Both near 8 yrs old and working as good as the day I bought them
No Google, No invasive shit whatsoever…just a reliable Telephone with a browser and text..!! Petfect..!!

    1. Who the hell cares anymore, elections are joke. If they had any value we would not be running around with masks on, and the Twadles spawn would be doing dope somewhere else and not sucking of the Canadian taxpayers teat.

    1. Not yet. I’m sure the numbers Yang wants to tattoo onto our arms will find other uses, though.

  14. “It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number (Representing) its name.”
    Revelation 13:16 – 17
“the resolution recommended the strict supervision of medical supplies by governments and humanitarian agencies exporting to Iraq and Kuwait.”
    UN Resolution 666
Hey, maybe they will make the resolution universal. Vaccinations could be a trial run to test the concept.

  15. My smart phone still has a wire attaching it to my house, that way I can’t loose it. Its smart enough to know that if I don’t answer it will take a message which I can respond to or delete. I do have an old cel phone that is not activated that I take with me so in an emergency I can call 911.
As bolchevik bonnie has decreed that all peons will wear face mussels mine reads WORN BY FORCE. NOT BY CHOISE
Maybe I should add in slightly smaller print “stick it where the sun don’t shine bb”

    1. If it had enough space print large enough to be read, my masks would say “I wear this only to shut you up. You should make sure it works, lest I do.”

  16. I made the mistake of leaving my “Smart” phone on wifi here in town, a few years back. It’s an S-4. Replaced a Rugby II flip phone that is still in use. Samsung downloaded their new upgrade over night without a by your leave. Suddenly things “smart” were not so smart, so being smart I downloaded my backup to set things right. Hmmm, not so smart. Long story short, I obtained a Kyocera flip phone as a replacement for Mr. “Smartie Pants”. Seeya! I control that phone now, not even Telus. Shut the web access off by pushing a button to “off”. Awesome! No more crap downloaded on my phone, except email, hosted by Telus at the time until email became “too hard” for Telus, and they shoved us out the door to Google. Now its “silence” on the phone ’cause I didn’t get a WIFI account for the phone and email is accessed on the Big Computer at home, where it’s always been. It’s a “phone” now. Fits in my shirt pocket. The Smarty Pants is a handy pocket camera, now. Some times I bang nails with it.

    1. No smart phones for me. I’ve had a Motorola, a Samsung, an LG, an Alcatel, another LG (they just don’t like being dropped in rivers, it seems) a Samsung Rugby IV and the one I use now, a Kyocera Dura XE (probably the same as yours). I would have stopped at the Rugby IV if it hadn’t been AT&T branded, which made it unable to send or receive pictures here it Canada (great phone otherwise). Like you, I have a computer at home and a couple of tablets for when I need to access the internet…my phone is for talking to people and sending/receiving the odd picture (and texts).

  17. What to add? Yes.

If Andy’s miserable tribe kept kosher, he would not have the opportunity to come up with technological solutions for problems his tribe caused by their taste for vermin in the first place.

        1. They’re working out gait ID now, so you’ll need a course from the Ministry of Silly Walks as well.

  18. If I recall correctly didn’t the Germans tattoo the Jews to show they were vaccinated. Give them each an individual identifiable number and all their pertinent paperwork information to do contact tracing. Oh wait that was before they were vaccinated.

Don’t own a cell phone. Too easy to track. Today if I though I needed one it be a burner.

  19. Playing hockey without your papers!

“Calgary police defend threatening to taser man for playing hockey
Bylaw officers were called to the rink in response to a group of men and children playing an outdoor game on Thursday.”

Police are screaming at the hockey player who is calm and is trying to find out why they are arresting him.
    https://www.westernstandardonline.com/2020/12/calgary-police-defend-threatening-to-taser-man-for-playing-hockey/

Canada is over: Arrested for playing hockey.

  20. If it ends up with a paper certificate of vaccination there will be a yuuge black market in counterfeit certificates.
And if there are electronic bar code certificates the black market price will be lower as there is no need for printers and special papers and that market will arise faster.

  21. Have a routine blood work up next week and wonder if I’ll be asked to test for the Wuhan or if it’s the new normal. I don’t want to be tested. and I am not taking the vaccine. Not after reading that Great Reset bull. They’ll have to hunt me down. I took the normal vaccine for several years and in 2014 caught some Mexican virus that nearly killed me, my husband, my father and two sisters in law. It’s all fraud all the time.
