Weaponized Blue Mayor Garcetti Amps Up the Totalitarian Rhetoric

Where is California heading?

Following reports of large parties that violate health orders aimed at slowing the spread of the novel coronavirus, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced Wednesday that he will authorize the city to shut off water and power services to residents who hold such gatherings.

Beginning Friday night, if Los Angeles Police Department officers respond to and verify that a large party is occurring at a property, and there’s evidence that the venue has repeatedly engaged in such behavior, the department will request that the city shut off water and power services within 48 hours.

  1. “ often happen at homes that are vacant”. In other words, the owner requested the power and water be shut off but the City sat on its a$$ about actually doing it.

  2. Brilliant Idea.
So who do you know and dislike so much ,such that you would orchestrate a flash mob on their property?
Could have a whole lot of fun here.
I foresee a burst of creativity by 4Chan.

As for where they are heading?
Well we have seen this movie before.
National Socialism, for your own good of course.

    I see One of Australia’s States is leading the way;
“We have had to smash car windows as people refuse to explain what they are about, where they are going to”.

    1. whatever you do, don’t google Eric Garcetti’s house, and set up a flash mob there…

or wonder how he can afford that sort of house

  3. Tar and feathers literally is the solution to this insanity.
    Lampposts are the next step.

  4. Cynical collectivists trading on their willful ignorance to power trip over their incurious and malleable people.
Is it OK to cut off vital services to renters who don’t pay rent, or gasp, don’t wear a mask? Meanwhile, rioters rule in their name.

If they can cower you into a mask well after the curve was flattened, on the false premise of a “worse” 2nd outbreak, you signal them they can lie to you and force you to do their will. Watch for climate change shutdowns of contrary opinions.

As of Monday, I boycott Walmart where people have to mask for four whole cases (perhaps) of covid on Vancouver Island.
We must step up and say No, we have more sense than the apparatchiks who insist on ruling us by treating us as children.
They make poor parents. We want leaders not rulers, of informed government, not co-opted statists with no skin in the game.
All governments involved with shutdowns should set examples and have their pay stopped.
That may finally discipline them and free us from the scourge of their pandering, pontificating partisan parasitism.

    1. Nicely said Shamrock. I too, will not be shopping at Walmart. If this was still March or early April, I might agree, but as of up to now, I have not worn a mask once, and I don’t intend to either. It is not about the Wuflu, it’s about power and control, and I refuse to give them the power they crave, to control me, even if I have to sit in a jail cell. I live in a small town on the coast a hundred kliks north of Vancouver, and we have had one case, a 14 year old visitor, to this town, from Ontario, that was flown to Vancouver for treatment. One! I’m not going down that road, and I tend to be the type that will cut off his nose to spite the face, I’m really stubborn, and even if it costs me, I will NOT wear a mask!

By the way, I really liked your four P’s at the end of your post. Great choice of words.

      Pandering, pontificating, partisan, parasitism.

      1. I’ve never liked shopping at wally-world anyway and this edict now gives me a real reason not to go in the place ever again.

    2. We are Walmart/Costco of Borg. Common sense is futile. You will be assimilated.

Seven for the Union-lords in their halls of concrete,
Nine for Woke bureaucratic Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Utopia where the Socialists lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Utopia where everyone lies.”

    1. Just like Edmonton might be on mine. Iveson’s phony-baloney “lockdown” makes me consider moving away for good after I’m done settling my father’s estate.

        1. In the US there are about roughly 30 red states and 20 blue states +/-

You live in a Red State with lots of veterans, with strong gun rights and that’s that. I live in Montana where everyone has 10 guns
and we’re tied with Alaska for veterans (I am one) as well as law enforcement retirees from everywhere else and they are moving here fast.

If I were in Canada I would live in AB or SK but not a big city. I’d have a rifle or two and keep my mouth shut. Trudeau is a childlike version of Josef Stalin. Just pray he dies. Soon.

      1. You’re getting off cheap up there in Redmonton. I hear you only get fined $50 for no mask, while down south in cowtown, it’s $100, for the same “offense”.

  5. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/airbnb-ban-party-houses-halloween-mass-shooting-murder-california-orinda-a9183061.html

But, but, but … I thought Air BnB had BANNED Party House rentals in the suburbs? After 5 people were killed and a dozen wounded at an Air BnB “Mansion Party” in my neighboring town of Orinda, CA. And now … another gang shooting and death.

Black gangs taking up residency in suburbia … murdering each other … disturbing the peace of the white suburbs … NO PROBLEM for Mayor Garcetti.
    But …
Hundreds of black lives not wearing masks and social distancing as they were ORDERED to do? Well … they’ll get their utilities shut off. Garcetti cannot use the POLICE (whom he HATES) to break up the party … nope … he will use Water and Power bureaucrats to do his dirty work.

A pathetic WORM of a man

    1. The Left keeps demanding more and more gun laws because they won’t enforce the ones on the books, and “won’t someone think of the children!”.

Why would passing laws to prevent house parties be treated any differently?

  6. Alternatively, some reality.
How many Cv cases matters, but that only matters because of hospital admissions, what matters is how many die.
If the aged care / over 70s / serious co-morbidities deaths are taken out, this Cv thing is a yawn. The death rate of the infected is 1.4% worldwide, better with 1st world medicine. Protect these groups and get back to work, the alternative is a destroyed economy that all the tunnel vision medical bureaucrats on earth will wash their hands of with a shrug.

If this goes on the money printing will destroy countries. To truly understand the effect of Cv understand inflation and rationing. And if you think this is not going to happen again with another virus, you don’t understand much.

Many people get this, a tiny number die, who dies is predictable. Unless you are deliberately murdering the aged you do not send infected elderly back to their aged care homes to decimate the other residents. That’s no different to distributing smallpox blankets to the age, the Mayor and Governor of NYC/NY know this.

Will some young and apparently healthy die from the Cv? Yep. Get over it and get on with it.

  7. Question for those who may know: Just who does own the utilities in Los Angeles? Is it the city, or are the power and water facilities owned and operated by private companies?

If they are in fact city-owned utilities, then Garcetti may indeed have the authority to shut them down. (emphasis on “may”. And let this serve as another example of why government-run anything is a bad idea.) But if they are private corporations, then the customers’ accounts are private contracts between the customer and the utility, and as long as the customer is up to date on payments, (and even if not), the city government has no power to intervene in the provision of services per the contract.

(OK, I’m being a bit of a sperg with this, but it’s a legitimate question, and one the lawyers will jump on for sure.)

  8. Going back to the “Great War”, the figures look like this:

Approximately 20 million deaths and 21 million wounded. The total number of deaths includes 9.7 million military personnel and about 10 million civilians.

Just as this slaughter-fest was winding down towards an Armistice, came another disaster:

The “Spanish” flu pandemic of 1918, the deadliest (so far), in history, infected an estimated 500 million people worldwide—about one-third of the planet’s population—and killed an estimated 20 million to 50 million. Never mind what Polio was also doing at the same time.

The “Second Great Unpleasantness” saw a global body-count in excess of FIFTY-SIX MILLION from combat, organized (government operated and sponsored) genocide, “collateral damage” etc.

Then there were FURTHER trans-national, lethal, Flu outbreaks in 1951 and again in 1957- 1958.

So, what is REALLY going on?

Strap on your “Sunday-best” cynic hat and take a wild ride.

    1. My guess: the globalists are seizing the opportunity to impose totalitarian rules on us peons.

Like many earlier this year, I was fearful of what this pandemic might do to us. No longer. It is nowhere near as dangerous as we feared. But yet here we are, with politicians ramping up the restrictions on us.

I think they see how easily we gave up our freedoms and are now pressing their advantage.

      1. Roy, a fella I know fled Hungery in 1958, he said that the recycling thing was just to train the plebs, and now we see the second stage, this covid shit, just conditioning us, till they have complete control

  9. Back to the thread at hand…..a number of churches in the area have decided to stay open, using the reasoning that liquor stores are open and rioters are allowed to assemble.
The mayor is using the argument of house parties, but they are after the churches who have decided to not bow to Caesar.

    1. Yup, as long as they say “tear it all down, in Jesus name!” they should be OK by the new rules.

  10. 48 hours to shut off water and power. After 6 hours the party would be all over anyway.
