  1. A few days ago, I mentioned that tomorrow (i. e., Friday, July 3), TCM will be showing a number of movies directed by John Ford.

Looking ahead in the schedule, all Fridays this month will highlight his films, including those that aren’t westerns, such as The Grapes of Wrath, How Green Is My Valley, and some of his war documentaries. (He not only served in the USN, he was at Midway when it was attacked.)

    1. John Ford had a long career (1913-71) and likely was considered a giant in the business and the man to beat come award time. See filmography list below.
      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Ford_filmography

I’ve scheduled to record all the Ford movies that TCM is offering during the whole day. Good insurance for a rainy evening. Thanks for the reminder.

      P.S. I discovered a 1952 drama, “Clash By Night”
with B. Stanwyck, Paul Douglas, Robert Ryan, Marilyn Munroe, and Directed by Fritz Lang that I am also going to record. It’s on prior to the John Ford line-up. I don’t believe that I’ve ever viewed that one.

      1. You’re welcome.

Ford had an unofficial company of actors he worked with and you’ll see many of the same faces throughout his movies. Ward Bond, for example, in at least 6 of them.

Ford also worked with Shirley Temple in at least 2 films. In Fort Apache, she plays the daughter of Henry Fonda’s character while her husband at the time, John Agar, plays a newly-minted cavalry officer.

      1. He wasn’t the only film director who was injured during WW II. Director William Wyler (The Best Years of Our Lives, Ben-Hur, The Big Country, Roman Holiday) served with the U. S. Army Air Force and lost much of his hearing while shooting film during a mission for a documentary about the B-17 Memphis Belle

    1. British erudition to the rescue !

  2. Great Leader Kim Sung Trudeau will pose for his loyal, drooling media at a photo op in Quebec today. He then heads for his resort at Harrington Lake.

Anti-globalists so therefore anti just about every political party in Canada.
I got this via the Libertarian Party of Canada (also anti-globalists) although I didn’t go to the protest the FFCS held on P Hill on the 1st.

  4. Just a brief update on fatalities from the “virus” in Canada. The current death toll represents 0.00022% of the current population.

    1. Yes, meanwhile at my campground site…..despite those ridiculously low numbers, the council here has autocratically ruled (without any membership input or vote) the following:
      Showers closed
Only one urinal, one toilet and one sink in use.
      All garbage cans closed
      No tools allowed (members purchased)
The paranoia here is palpable, yet we are essentially disease free. I am surrounded by many loyal believers in the mass media, total sheeple.
When one long time member said the US is going crazy with the virus spike cuz of Trump, I replied that it was no coincidence the spike was happening 3-4 weeks after all the massive demonstrations down there. Blank stare, and silence was the reply. No doubt that the oh so authoritarian CBC has forgotten to mention that fact

I saw that in the different airports I’ve travelled through during the past few weeks.

      2. Dan unfortunately without showers, toilets and garbage removal disease free may not be the condition for long flu or no flu.

  5. Yesterday I mentioned that Marc Kielburger sat as a director for two entities. The first turns out to be ME to WE Styles, Inc., a private company that consisted of one clothing store in Toronto. The store went under during the Wuhan quarantine. The second is Prince s Charities Canada, a charity of Prince Charles. It is legit, even though, well, the Prince is not.

I did find out that brother Craig Kielburger has two numbered companies, which can be seen here:
    https://opencorporates.com/officers?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=Craig+Kielburger&commit=Go&jurisdiction_code=&utf8=%E2%9C%93&action=search_officers&controller=searches

According to Wiki, numbered companies in Canada have numbers assigned to them from Industry Canada, if the person wants his corporations as a numbered company. There are essentially two reasons for them The first is that the entrepreneur is holding the company until he can find a good brand name for the company. The other is for tax avoidance or money laundering reasons, etc. Note that brother Craig s numbered companies are now four years old.
    Just saying.

    1. I read – can’t remember just where – that the worst British mistake was giving the French navy access to radar as – at that time – the Brits were well ahead of the Germans in developing same. With the French fleet captured, or at least some of it, the Germans were able to get their hands on radar and develop same, thus neutralizing the British advantage.

  6. Guess what her motivation was?

“A woman was jailed for life, with a minimum sentence of 14 years, on Friday for plotting to blow up London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral, a nearby hotel and a subway train in a suicide attack.”

    Answer:

“The Muslim convert, who was a supporter of the Islamic State group, pleaded guilty to creating a terrorist act and dissemination of a terrorist publication.”

Good to see the UK criminal justice system actually delivering real justice for a change as opposed to pursuing individuals whose speech offends the politically correct elite.

    1. The young lady sure can play, though I’m not sure if Pachelbel would have approved of the arrangement.

        1. I’m reminded of a story about composer Antonio Vivaldi. He held a post for a while at the Ospedale della Pieta, which was an orphanage and convent.

He established an orchestra there and wrote music for the girls, some of whom became skilled musicians themselves. Eventually, they gained a reputation for being one of the best ensembles in Europe.

    1. I find anything he says offensive and hateful.
      Facebook can now deplatform him.

That’s how the new rules work right?

  7. Media reports that Blackie will be holding a two day retreat next week with his staff, to discuss how Canadians are racist bastards. In related news the little mermaid statue in Denmark has been spray painted with the words, racist fish.

  8. Conrad Black and Rex Murphy have new stories at the “woke” National Post.

  9. There are essentially two reasons for them The first is that the entrepreneur is holding the company until he can find a good brand name for the company. The other is for tax avoidance or money laundering reasons, etc.

I don’t think that’s a fair characterization. Having worked with some high net worth individuals, sometimes it’s simply to keep a low profile: 1234567Canada Inc is a lot less likely to draw attention than (say) Rex Murphy Investments Ltd, for example. Most of the time it’s because the corporation will have no public-facing activities, so it doesn’t need a good brand name – and the principals honestly don’t care. As for tax evasion (tax avoidance is perfectly legal, much as CRA dislikes it) – a numbered company doesn’t make it any easier, compared to a ‘named’ company.

  10. Scott Adams’s brilliant insight cuts through all this: the comparison isn’t between black wealth and white wealth in America. Instead, the comparison must be the difference between blacks’ average net worth in America and blacks’ average net worth in Africa. After all, the act of stealing blacks from Africa is the “but for cause” of all wrongs done to blacks.
