2. My personal belief? Duration of contact with the virus is the key. My conclusion is based on my simple observation that I have a reasonable contact with every manner of people and surfaces … but don’t tend to get infected with common flus or colds. But my contacts are always brief. Standing in a checkout line, etc. The longest contact I tend to have is holding onto a shopping cart … my #1 old person (me) fear.

   CTH published a very simple, yet telling commentary that IF this virus were as easily transmitted as advertised, then the #1 infected group wouldn’t be Elder Care patients … but grocery store clerks. These clerks are seeing far greater numbers of patrons than in the past as all restaurants are closed driving more people into supermarkets. But we DON’T see a spike in grocery store clerk infection. In fact, I have heard of precious few at all. Elder care patients OTOH are subjected to constant and repeated contact with a small group of caregivers.

   Sorry to say such an “unscientific” thing as these simple observations … until you stop and think that “science” for the most part is “empirical evidence” based on simple observation, then testing and confirmation.

   Yeah … duration of contact … like standing in a crowded subway car, elevator, cruise ship, or nursing home bed … is what kills.

   1. I was once told that I was being “selfish” when I expressed my concern for all the people that you have mentioned.
      Our local hospital has 220 empty beds, an empty ICU and a whole lot of medical staff with nothing to do. Of course that could all change with the growing rate of infection in Brooks. However, the current hospitalization rate would indicate we would need 4000 cases all at once to fill those beds.
      But hey, we gotta keep them open!But those people that need surgery? Just throw some more oxycodone at them. Nothing bad can happen with that!

      1. At last count … my County hospitals had 35 Kung Flu patients. 35. Out of more than 1,500 licensed beds in my County. That’s a LOT of surgeries gone begging.

4. It would be really interesting to see how many sailors on the US carrier Teddy Roosevelt had the virus, and more importantly the breakdown of how many got various levels of illness, also sorted by age.

   And yes I am aware that the carrier crew is not representative of the US population.

8. Well this is certainly an article which brings forward the wondering of how does the this fit my present understanding of the Political Arena in the Present ‘Globalization is all that matters’. The Covid 19 ‘nice narrative’ has become the descriptive of the North American Media news purveyors in the process of using advertising revenue generation to cover a news reader’s pay.

   Sometimes the news reader is presented as a ‘Celeb’ by quoting __ Wheel of Fortune’s __ Pat Sajak; the down home Indivdual, along with Vanna Wright, for nearly Three Decades of week day entertainment, and also for the selling of advertisement for revenue. I do not recall what, if any, reference to the present major and rightly so; concern of this 100 Year Pandemic. A centennial ‘slap about the ears’ of some here to unknown demagogue, or the real thing; as notice from the enlightenment aspect of life practiced in the majority of families in North America.

   However; there is a growing suspicion the Communist China Party has either attempted to ‘sweep a major Globalized Terror, under the Communist rug of convenience, or is trying to determine whether a biological weapon will be a significant threat against the U.S.A. fighting force(s). Plus: the not as yet secretly suborned information of American Security Plans and devices. That is beside the M.A.D. weapons of the old “Cold War”.

   This specific Article, written by the one of the remaining True Investigative Reporters who has been gathered in by the potential New Big hegemony; Epoch Times. Stepping off the porch of quiet capability and putting ‘Spent’ to the future of many, if not all, old purveyors of the Political Arena in the Globalization Era; at least for the present. But it is this Article which brings forward, how does this fit my present understanding.

   The description of the several steps of Communism in dominance moves through the cruelty imperative for a Communist Regime to become the viable alternative for an existing culture in a nation or country. Reading the steps of the process brings recognition of the steady encroachment of China Communist Party into at least one existent culture of Canada. This is the French Language Culture of Quebec. A process which commenced with the designed path of refocusing a poorly informed working class of Citizens — colloquial — identification in English of ‘Old Wool’ a testament to the long standing early seventeenth Century living in North America within the Roman Catholic tradition(s).

   These traditions were replaced through a refocus of loyalty to the Quebecois French Language still rooted in the pre-revolution France colony of the early seventeenth century. The refocusing began in earnest in the 1960’s as the Quiet Revolution; there were several acts of violence, kidnapping, murder, and a quieting down phase, which settled in, as acceptance the problem(s) of the Quebecois was the Roman Catholic traditions were not strong enough to counter the Anglo-Culture domination; the Jews of Quebec were actually the only providers of employment away from farming and ; The Patriots of Quebec marching was fun and exciting, without minimizing the integrity of all who participated.

   French Language Culture won the future; Quebec is now Nation du Quebec and the only uni-lingual component of the once effective Confederation now indentified as the (rest of Canada) or ROC. The general reluctance of the remnant Nine Provinces to upset the [ –charrette de pomme- excuse’ S.V.P. ] has steadily allowed the French Language Culture to flourish at the expense of the English Language Culture. Sufficent to the now recognized understanding English Language Culture is not comfortable as the Second Class Citizens. However beyond this increasingly felt reality is the recognition of the significant change away from acceptance by the French Language Culture in the Roman Catholic Religion; moving from 80 % to 95 % , participating with a recognized religious marriage relationship to now within a range of 15 % .

   One further step away from the English Language Culture which, partially because of the Quebec experience away from recognized religious marriage relationship, is also moving away, but not to the extent of the Nation du Quebec. The transition from a Province to a Nation within a now apparently irrelevant Confederation has not been overtly dramatic. We at least in the ROC are truly encouraged by the suspect Major Sources of English Language News to accept what the Polticalized Authorities expect and do not make waves. Whether it is with an apparent effort to increase immigration to replace a diminished voting support for the Self – Appointed and Self -Described “Natural Government Political Party”; the apparent encouragement of Indigenous Peoples into believing They have a Right, but no Responsibilities for disruption and damage to English Language Cuture Citizens through breaking apart Law and Order.

   Then the new necessity is a Standard Smear against any political activity performed by a Political Party Government which is not part of the “Natural Government Political Party” as has become as previously mentioned Standard Smear or even a continuation of propaganda for control extending back Seventy Years to the ‘Quiet Revolution”. Such is the indifference of the controlled media is a Contributory Attitude of the Present Federal Government to the China Communist Party Government.

   The present attitude of Canada’s Federal Government to Our relationship with China is recognized as the similar subservience displayed with the steady diminution of the English Language Cuture Rights and apparently Responsibilities not necessarily expected from others. The Cultural ties of the Nation du Quebec with China in Commerce is obviously deeper on a per capita than is the English Language Remnant ROC. Our concern also moves in step with the description(s) presented in the Article on Lao Tzu admonishment of danger of the step by step approach, which remains a recognized process of the Hegemonies
