  1. When should we allow people to go back to work? And should it be phased?

What risk level of dying from Wuhan virus would you accept?
    1 in 100?
    1 in 1000?
    1 in 10,000?
    1 in 100,000?

At sometime we will all have to make that decision.

What did you decide? Now consider that slightly over 40,000 die from traffic accidents each year in the USA (pop 330,000,000).

That’s a 1 in 8250 chance of dying in a traffic accident. And we accept that risk.

A little over simplified, but just wanted to get people thinking

    1. I wrote a similar comment in the NP a while back, using cancer, heart diseases and strokes as a similar example. I had all kinds of drivel from cynics saying that there is no comparison, that Covid-19 is preventable if we stay home and follow the rules, 2 meters apart etc. . I think that’s a total crock. Keeping people inside buildings is OK for a very short time frame. But after a month or so, apartments, homes etc. could become breeding grounds for the virus. Especially structures that utilize common air ducts for heating and cooling. I say get out in the fresh air and let it it dissipate. I also believe masks are the answer. As for over simplification, I think the answer is so simple nobody has bothered to think about it.
      Accept the risk. My opinion.

        1. So far the death rate is far below the regular freaking flu deaths, way below. Someone better wake up soon.

          1. Unme I rarely respond to you because you are a mental midget and yes is a fact.

          2. Yes UnMe is a mental midget (to put it charitably), but that does not change the fact that you, Robert and few others have glitched yourselves into an impossible to defend position. Again I ask: when was the last time a flu caused doctors to unplug (kill) senior patients from ventilators to make room for those who have better odds to make it? Please just answer that single question.
Global kill rate jumped up further to 5.43%, yes there is undertesting and underdetection. So what? The same is the case for flu.
Kill rates among detected cases by country:
            Spain: 9.5%
            Italy: 12.3%
            France 8.4%
            UK: 10.3%
Among large EU countries only Germany and Poland are managing to keep the kill rates low (for now). How is that ever remotely similar to a flu? At what point will the reality trump your ideological opposition?

Do you understand how it will work in Canada? It means old white guys will be unplugged first. If you think that you are going to receive the same level of care as “marginalized” people you are delusional. If you think that a doctor from “marginalized” people will be invested in saving you equally as he is in saving “marginalized” patients you are double delusional. It will all be legal and all will cover for each other. White doctors will be afraid of having their decisions considered racist, non white doctors are beyond reproach ergo if you need medical help you’re fucked. Stay safe.

P.S. I find it somewhat amusing that UnMe, OWG and RofO all voted for the same party during the last election….

          3. Sorry OWG, turns out that the mental midget, despite his earlier claims, voted Librano in the end.

      1. Plainz

Living in such a building, albeit only <3yrs old, we have our own fresh air supply and run it from time to time… I'm getting a bit of cabin fever, tempered mind you with the knowledge that 6 weeks after Open Heart surgery..my lungs still arent bak up to snuff, i can handle it for a few more weeks.

We still go out once a week grocery shopping…Trying to get it delivered is a min of a 7-8 day delay in Calgary.

I too want to know..whats the End game here. Seems to me that if we have to stay cloistered in our homes till vaccine comes out….we'll all be dead long before we ever see a vaccine.

So, the alternative is EVERYONE gets exposed while we supply everyone with the 3 Drug cocktail, rely on our immune systems and at the same time get our Economies back on track accepting whatever amount of deaths. Failure to get our economies back on track..?? that will result in Utter ANARCHY

Its either a few million world wide or it's 7.5 billion. Take yer pick.

      2. Pray tell when was the last time “cancer, heart diseases and strokes” overwhelmed a healthcare system in a developed country?

        1. Health care systems are overwhelmed because they were not ready.
Too many billions spent on the climate crisis, womens issues and promoting abortion.

    2. Only 3000 people died on 9/11.

Terror was the whole point of the exercise, not maximizing body count (for now anyway).

    3. I wonder how many people worldwide die of the flu by this date..I listened to a woman who recovered from this, and from her description it is horrifying.. At my age 71, it would probably kill me.. But it sure sounds frightening. I have never had a flu that scared me, but I had the norovirus once, and the violent vomiting felt like my abdominal muscles were going to rupture. Not nice at all..

      1. AHH, you can take this number and divide by 12 if you wish, 3,177,204 died in 2018 and that seems to be the annual norm. I am older than you and had a nasty bug in Jan. I was sick as a dog and had a cough that made me think my guts and brain were going to explode. The cure, stay at home and rest with fluids, tons of advil, codein for the cough. By the way 153,424 people die everyday and other than those who knew them no one else really gives a damn.

      2. Just out of curiosity, I am wondering where you listened to this person — if it was radio or other broadcast? I am concerned about a certain level of fear mongering by media — stories about the rare 20 year old who died, or the grocery worker who might have breathed on you who died even though having “no underlying conditions” if you ignore the unmentioned frequent seizures. Media always plays up tragedy (unless they are trying to protect some group.) The virus can be genuinely scary, and a certain proportion of older people particulatly die from it but most people contracting the virus do not have such severe cases. Wearing masks in public places and having a healthy immune system are probably what protect you most. Walking outside is healthy. Vitamin C is also good. I don’t believe excessive lock down is helping that much. (My 2 cents. )

        1. I wanted to comment on Linda’s post I agree with you on the walking and being cooped up,being a border line diabetic exercise and keeping the weight down is essential never mind the mental aspect of house confinement .The confinement alone will kill many people.

        2. Agree entirely, except the lockdown is working, though slowly as expected.

Problem is, what will be the societal price of the lockdown, of lost jobs, stalled careers, high deficits, etc. Cure worse than the disease. What is the endgame? When our “betters” said 3 months, it was clearly deceiving. Any true elimination of the disease will take years, not months.

The lockdown is a blunt instrument, being used because the same stupid people that don’t listen to common sense, vote for TruDOH and other socialists. So everyone gets locked down, the lucky ones like me work in essential industries, life carries on. That’s no small comfort knowing that thousands are severely impacted , including other family members. There’s a better way, as Mr Medium Rare said above.

      3. Nobody dies from the flu. Unless you are referring to influenza, a viral infection that affects your respiratory system. The flu is a stomach infection that causes diarrhea and vomiting.

The problem with influenza is it is grouped with pneumonia (both totaling 55,672). And what is the difference between a chronic lower respiratory disease (such as asthma) and pneumonia versus someone with asthma getting COV-19 and then pneumonia and then dying? I suspect right now that people who get COV-19 die from COV-19 even if they have serious underlying diseases such as emphysema. Last year they would have died from emphysema. But let’s pretend the data are perfect.

        2,800,000 Americans died in 2017 from …

        Heart disease: 647,457
        Cancer: 599,108
        Accidents (unintentional injuries): 169,936
        Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 160,201
        Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 146,383
        Alzheimer’s disease: 121,404
        Diabetes: 83,564
        Influenza and pneumonia: 55,672
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 50,633
        Intentional self-harm (suicide): 47,173

Influenza and pneumonia represent 55,672 / 2,800,000 or only 2% of all deaths. An average of 153 people die every day from I and P. That is almost 14,000 since January. So far 8,500 Americans have died from COV-19. We have a lot of dying to do.

        1. There are days I think I should turn off comments just to spare some of you the embarrassment of these nonsensical comparisons between the flu and “car accidents” to the death/hospitalization rate of this virus — but you seem immune to that, so whatever.

It’s been explained to you ad nauseum, over the course of many weeks, in the most basic of terms possible and with evidence clearly presented that these comparisons are not just wrong, but breathtakingly wrong.

Thus the only conclusion I can draw is that some of you are now so locked into ideologically driven confirmation bias that you’ve lost the ability to perform grade school arithmetic. You’re treading into “fire doesn’t melt steel” intellectual territory and proud of it, apparently.

          It’s not a good look.

          1. C’mon Kate, that’s a strawman and you know it.

He’s not saying this isn’t serious.
What he (and many others) are saying is, is it REALLY serious enough to warrant running our economy off a cliff like we’ve done? Many don’t believe that it is. Not that we shouldn’t do anything, just not…this.
You might be situated in such a way that you can weather the coming depression, but there are a great many people who are not. The misery that the “cure” causes is likely going to be far worse than the infection itself.

          2. Kate

            Interesting comment. Thanks.

I’ve posted my “how much risk are you (good readers) willing to take/accept?” comment on several sites. Got lots of comments but to date no one has answered my how much risk they’d accept question.

          3. Have to agree with Teach. Won’t argue about the seriousness of the infection rate, but our household has had TWO close calls with exposure, co-workers of the wife and son, co-workers who are now positive, but 4 weeks have gone by and we are all healthy.
There is a better way, than hiding in our holes for 24 months or more, and hope the bad guy has gone away. That is what the models suggest that the health authorities and TruDOH are using. They are lying to us by omission.
Saw another graph of US death rate, the “normal” vs Covid, vs the death rate currently of non-Covid…….with the lockdown, the normal death rate is way down, fewer accidents, les stress being at home, etc.
In the end, no more people are dying in the US now than otherwise. Those are facts, statistical facts, taking all the emotion out of any argument.
Therefore, it begs the question, can this battle be fought better, smarter and more efficiently than the current blunt instrument approach? You bet your ass it can.
Trump knows it, but like all governments, they are short on the solutions, the meds right now. Hopefully that will change soon. Then lock down the old folks homes, by military if necessary.
Is that how wars are won?

    4. Joe, the promotion surrounding the virus has been the greatest marketing ploy of all time, and I mean ALL TIME. Never have so many people been thrown into a panic and forced to do things that are every bit as dangerous to their well being. This lock down is unhealthy both physically and mentally. Reporting of sad individual cases has gone way other the top. Old people are busy dying in their nursing homes, why, just how did their “safe” environments become more dangerous than shopping with a thousand people? Inquiring minds want know, we also what less B S and bafflegab.

      1. It’s also the greatest cluster* of all times by governments. A complete lack of risk-benefit analysis and faulty advice and unpreparedness. I don’t understand how the Federal government can be so unprepared when they produced a report in 2006 hypothesizing this very situation. And the Czechs show that masks DO work.

        1. Robert, you live in the Centre of the DISEASE itself…and I’m not talking COVID-19.

You can’t be serious saying you don’t understand this Govt’s response and unpreparedness.?? A Gang that is 100% Bent & utterly intent on Imposing their Eco-Insane, Gender Neutral, Feminist, Anti White Garbage, Anti Western you’re all “NAZI’s” Agenda on the rest of us..??

Just have a good look at who occupies the PMO & Cabinet. That in itself should be enough to incite PANIC in any Thinking Canadian. Group 1 cause they carry a copy of the Qu’Ran, Group 2 cause they carry Vagina’s and the remainder, Laurentien Elites led by an Arrogant Condescending utterly Stupid Sack of French Shit with a last name of TRUDEAU.

          I can see exactly why.

          1. Trudeau is such a lightweight that you can practically see through him.

And his cabinet, chosen for gender and ethnicity, not competency; instills all the confidence one would expect in a country ran by foreigners, the girls that sold the most chocolate bars in grade seven and the soyboys that admired them from afar.

Canadians are about to find out in a very big way that stupidity is very, very painful. Guaranteed.

          2. Canadians are about to find out in a very big way that stupidity is very, very painful.

But this is a country in which his ability to lead is judged by how nice his hair looks and that he fills out his pants in all the right places in all the right ways.

      2. One thing that will cause people to shit white will be the economy. If you wanted to crush the global warming movement this is the perfect ploy. Even Trudeau will have trouble giving out money to the climate cause once all the invoices are in (and the adjusted government revenues become known).

I’m involved in the mining industry. Mineral exploration is greatly influenced by the price of gold. It is at record prices in CAD. About 2 months ago things just dried up. Companies are afraid to go into the field (even though we are defined as an essential service). Mines are being shut-down. Investors are holding back. Companies that raise “flow-through” dollars (money they promise will be spent on exploration within 12 months) are hesitant to finance in case they raise the money and can’t spend it (big penalties for doing that).

Imagine a 30% unemployment rate. Imagine all the landlords who didn’t get their rent cheques. All the closed restaurants. Loss in tax revenue from gasoline which has fallen to 70 cents a litre. It is going to get ugly. I bet the FEDs run a $300 billion deficit in 2020.

          1. If the Liberals have an extra $300 Billion to spend, one should strongly consider a move to the Laurentions since that is where most of the money will end up.

    5. joe, I posted this a number of days ago. In 2009, 61 million Americans were infected with the Swine flu, there were between 12,000 and 18,000 deaths, notice the between 12 and 18 thousand. Obama was in office. Now do you really think we would be having this problem if a democrat was president and extreme politics were not only the order of the day but the order of the last four years and four more if Trump is re-elected. The left is far more dangerous than any virus. Numbers are important, over 267,000 people die in Canada, EVERY YEAR.

    6. It is not only that the number of people dying from covid19 is much lower than
the number dying from the flu, cancer or aids or two dozen other things

it is that the covid19 numbers are artificially inflated.

People who had no other underlying condition and died of the covid19 are about 10 % of the total deaths

yes some people really died of the covid19, but lying and inflating numbers turns this into a hoax

I am not denying the virus is real, I am not dying some people have died from it

I am saying doctoring the numbers, inflating them ten fold to create mass hysteria, that part makes it a hoax

the biggest hoax in the history of this planet

if you once saved someone from drowning but you say you saved ten people from drowning

you just made it a hoax

from truth you made a lie

from real events you made a hoax

    7. On that line of thinking.

Things you will not hear at any of the daily Canadian pressers.

“Dr Tam, any estimate on when a vaccine will be available?”

    8. The economy should not have been shut down in the first place.
South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, none of these shut down.
Directives from the WHO should be questioned as this COVID-19 experience has exposed the influence China has over WHO.
WHO collaborated in the CCP coverup.
That the CCP covered up the outbreak and the seriousness of COVID-19 for months is without question and not a conspiracy theory. The CCP are still lying about cases and deaths in China. As of today we are at 72,000+ deaths (Worldometers), the CCP has got to be held accountable for deaths and the trillions of economic activity lost. There could be more deaths from the economic fallout than from the disease.
Was this an economic attack on the West via the WHO by China. Countries are under obligation to follow directives from WHO to control pandemics. It was WHO that directed economies close down and isolate their populations. There should have been push back.
China has also been hoarding required PPE from around the world for months.
A thought that will you will hear post pandemic I am sure.

  2. Any predictions as to what excuse Trudeau will come up with to remain in hiding longer? Is it his doing or his handlers?

    1. If he comes out of his burrow, he may run the risk of becoming infected. That means he’ll have to be tested and, maybe, he’s afraid that the identity of his true father might be found.

        1. And shouldn’t his hair be more unkempt looking by now! Who is coiffing it for him?

      1. We should watch the next time he comes out for a word salad and see if he sees his own shadow or not. If he does not, then we have another 3 months of this economic winter.

        1. I think the government is doing this (thd daily briefings) to build support for their team’s leadership and competence. Trudeau is such a poor leader, though, that I think all they are building is contempt. Trudeau will be remembered as the face of the lockdown and virus. His resemblance to Castro gives this even more impact psychologically.

          1. Linda L

I think your right. It’s a strategy to try and make the bong look like ‘The Man’.

It won’t work. He will wear this….as will many leaders

          2. Yea, Think I’d add the Chinese Neanderthal and that Useless Graphic designing Quim to that list…

    2. I firmly believe that the contemptible swine is hiding under the bed on his own accord, content to perform his whack-a-mole routine each day which, in his deranged mind shows leadership and gives hope to the peasants. He is way too far down the road to full-blown narcissism to accept the advice of his handlers who are probably thankful that he has chosen to stay out of sight and keep his big mouth shut except for the daily gag-inducing platitudes.

    3. I predict the next excuse is he’s working from home to practice physical distancing, while providing a great example to Canadians.

Rosie Barton and the CBC will go orgasmic, saying it’s showing Justin’s solidarity with all Canadians who are also at home.

    4. Remember how the left always made fun of Harper for “hiding in the closet” while there was an Islamic terrorist on Parliament Hill killing an unarmed soldier (yes he had a gun but it wasn’t loaded) and doing his damnedest to get into parliament to kill Harper. Funny how they are so silent now about Trudeau hiding under his bed during this pandemic. Oh well at least we are saving a ton of money on Trudeaus’ travel cost and airfare.

    5. Part of me thinks it might be a security thing based on threat assessments because he’s reviled by millions.
Most of me thinks its because he believes his destiny is to rule Canaduh for a long, long time and nothing can jeopardize that.
      Plus he’s a fucking coward.

  3. Food or friends?

I’ll go with food. If you want a friend, get a dog, unless you live in China, of course.

    1. A friend from Nicaragua brought a group of Koreans he was working with in Korea to Nicaragua. They said “you said Nicaragua was poor country and people are going hungry. How can that be? There are all these dogs in the street. Lots to eat here.”

  4. THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC IS THE BREAKTHROUGH XI JINPING HAS BEEN WAITING FOR. AND HE’S MAKING HIS MOVE.

    https://www.macleans.ca/opinion/the-coronavirus-pandemic-is-the-breakthrough-xi-jinping-has-been-waiting-for-and-hes-making-his-move/

“Beijing used the opening presented by the 2008 economic downturn to reach parity; to position itself as an alternative world leader. In COVID-19, Beijing sees the chance to win.”

“China’s Communist Party leadership and Huawei have teamed up to effectively take over the architecture of the global internet with a proposal to the International Telecommunications Union, one of four major UN agencies that China now controls”

    Article by Terry Glavin

    1. Glavin makes some good points, but he is a committed idiot since he brags about being a liberal journalist, he sounds like he’s ready to surrender because he doesn’t believe in civilizational values of the West, a typical Liberal.

Emperor Xi may be the liberals new idol, but it’s beginning to look like overreach on his part. If our leaders want to keep selling out to China, they may have to start looking for other jobs, CBC will hire them of course…

    2. Sounds like it might be time to “build our own internet” like the left keeps telling everyone deplatformed. The old one was running low on IPs anyway.

Xi acted too fast on their plan, they could have quietly kept buying until it was too late, but now a lot of people have recognized the dangers of China and will listen to arguments about loss of industry and dependence on a hostile foreign power. And lets keep talking about Liberal connections to China and how they have been bought out since at least Chretien, or the 25% of ridings with at least one candidate that is a CCP agent.

If change seems hopeless, remember that Hillary was a 98.5% certainty, and everyone should sell their stocks the day of her loss.

      1. “Hillary was a 98.5% certainty”

Not according to Nate Silver, who actually ran the data in an objective manner. He was the one who gave Turmp a chance.

      2. I’ll support the first Conservative leadership contender who publicly calls out the Liberals for what they really are.

        Supporters of One World Communism.

        Communists.

      3. Chrétien was in Beijing selling us out the day after he left office, unfortunately “little potato” isn’t waiting that long.

        1. He and his pals were selling us out waaaaay before that. Probably day one he got into politics.

  5. Re: Food and Friends

I’ll take a t-bone with mashed potatoes and gravy over that SOB dressed like a cow any day.

To quote my late Dad. ”A swat with a 1X4 on the side of the head would solve his problems quickly.”

(Newsguard gives the website a green check)

    Google translated from the story:

“Yes, say Rudi Anschober and Bernhard Benka, member of the Corona Task Force in the Ministry of Health. “There is currently a clear rule: died with the corona virus or from the corona virus,” explains Benka. All of these cases are included in the statistics.

There is no difference as to what the patient actually died from. To put it bluntly, a 90-year-old who dies of a broken femur neck and becomes infected with corona in the hours before his death counts as a corona dead man. To give just one example.”

    1. Thanks for that, B A Various things have been tried so far including baking the masks in the oven at home at150 deg F for just over half an hour, with, apparently, some success. But this would be a far more useable solution and would work for the reusable respirators some of us are attempting to procure. I will pass it on to our powers that be.

    1. And we are supposed to get a large shipment in today from where??… China of course.. probably those defective ones shipped into the Netherlands and returned as defective. But we wont hear about the quality of them from our LiberalSurrenderMonkeys.. I wonder when it will be acceptable to use Chloroquinine, as the cbc has been pissing on it as DonaldTrump chooses to tout it.

    1. China is doing pretty well destroying themselves….Starvation is a consequence beyond the limit of human apathy

      1. UnMe, if you haven’t experienced a Chinese wet market, shut your face. Once, while in China, I innocently walked into a wet market. To say I was appalled doesn’t really cut it. Between gags, I managed to exit much faster than I had entered. That was more than 20 years ago. This recent news has had me recall that nightmare. It’s something you can’t unsee.

        1. You don’t like it. Fine. Don’t expect the whole world to join a ‘shaming session’.

  7. Vegetables. Whenever someone informs me that they’re Vegan I always answer that I didn’t know they were vegetables. They don’t seem offended, so I don’t imagine they’re thinking clearly in their Vegan fog.

A co-worker was moving to a different section but said he would be back to provide ‘cruelty free’ dishes when we do potluck. I wanted to tell him to go F#@& himself at that point, but we’re all too polite for that…

    1. I watched a YouTube link a few months ago (likely from SDA) about a couple futurists who were invited to a meeting with some extremely wealthy men. They were looking for advice on how to protect themselves from their security guards who they feared would take over their bunkers and make themselves the leaders if/when society did collapse

  8. I have never eaten a Cow..Let the little children think Cows are been eaten (NOT) Only fools think a Steer is not male.. Go milk a Bull…..

    1. Those retards look like they would be happy to milk a bull with their mouths! Disgusting!

  9. Poor Nancy wants a 4th strike at the ball for Democrats…. a MN friend who worked in constuction said he always voted Democrat because they controlled the Jobs.. Who would Know… Why is she insistant on Health care problems with Obama care & Medicaid (free) She comingled Medicare (prepaid by payroll taxes) with Obama Care…..and added an increase on those. Must be time-dated and someone MAY trigger a forensic Audit of the Trust funds that Obama lifted

      1. She wants a War, but that’s not what the Turd said….nor what Trump said. Canada & SA are covered by the
new Trade agreement… but third country shipments may be a problem for awhile…

        JMHO

        1. A war?

Gee, Canada could put maybe 5000 boots on the ground.
The US wouldn’t even need to use the army or national guard.
They could just send the Detroit, Boston and Portland police departments.
They would definitely have better armament than the Cdn Army.

Can you just imagine the hilarity as the American Brass describes the Cdn kit?
          Jets.
          Helicopters.
          Submarines.
          Warships.

          And the country’s leadership.
The Americans must leave us under Quebec rule for entertainment purposes.

          Poor Canada.
          Quick war.

Particularly with half the country cheering for the Americans.
And the other half the Chinese.

        2. War is the traditional distraction, for those occassions when the kleptocracy is exposed and the mobs are forming..
Works great to herd the sheeple, notice how the Lying Liberals play the Patriotism card everytime the USA tells them to grow up?
As a lesser note, one could argue the best economic recovery policy of the last century, was to declare war on the USA and lose.

    1. Why do I have an image of an outraged Daffy Duck when I picture the child prince mad at Trump?

That said, dear leader is certainly an example to follow for me. I’m Just-In-Hiding on our acreage until this blows over.

  10. And now the Liberal Party’s Sunday Toronto Star. Because nothing is more important in journalism than the views of Unifor reporters in downtown Toronto. The Star follows orders from Ottawa and distracts from Typhoid Blackie with stories how Trump is Hitler. Stories that now is the perfect time to fight global warming. Crazy Cat Lady Liz May explains that climate change is more deadly than the China virus. Money must not be given to the oil industry, but its ok to give handouts to oil industry workers. Lots of China is wonderful stories. Story in the entertainment section on how brave the sick CNN host is. Criminals in prisons need to be released. Criminally insane people need to be released. Indians need more money, feminists need more money, socialism is wonderful, Islam is wonderful, the Liberal Party is wonderful, Blackie is wonderful, Canadians are racist bastards.

  11. Blackies’s CBC has Ralphie Goodale on this morning describing what a wonderful job he is doing sucking off the government tit, regarding the Iran plane crash. We are blessed.

  12. One of the golden quotes at SDA with thanks to Old White Guy: “The left is far more dangerous than any virus.”

“They turned upon Russia the most grisly of weapons. They transported Lenin in a sealed truck like a plague bacillus from Switzerland to Russia.”
    Winston Churchill

  13. Yesterday’s CBC and CTV News led off with angry reports, that Trump was cutting off 3M facemask exports to Canada. The slant, of course, was to whip up Canadian anger against Trump. At the same time, the Rt. Hon. Trudeau was thanking China for shipping needed PPE to Canada. “Isn’t China wonderful?”, say our media cartel. “Isn’t Trump evil?”, the cartel asks.

    1. Disingenuous news, they forgot that the Trump administration is forbidding 3M shipments to all countries. It isn’t like Canada was singled out. Now, 3M might have asked “what about Canada and Mexico” and Trump might have said “no exceptions” but we don’t know that for a fact. But that will not stop the media and the political chattering class from calling orange man bad.

I wonder how they felt about India’s decision to block shipments of drugs out of country? The media was pretty silent on that, still are silent. I wonder if they actually know about it. Oh, right, no orange man, no problem.

      1. it’s even worse than that. The order doesn’t actually say ANYTHING about forbidding shipments. All it says is that they have to ensure that the FEMA orders get filled.

      2. Sun editorial today mentioned 60 countries have banned exports of P.P.E.
But only America is singled out. Let’s see. Blackie badmouths and ridicules Trump every chance he gets . Later he squanders and send 16 tons of P.P.E. to China. Now he, leftist Canadians and MSM are mad at Trump for not letting Canada have any from America’s short supply.
Somewhat reminds me of the type of donkeys I encountered years ago. One jerk I had to contend with constantly threw a large rock at me while I was driving by. Six months later I saw him hitch-hiking, as he had previously wrecked his car. Did I give him a ride? Hell no. Of course he later went around telling everyone I was a jerk for not giving him a ride. Must be a true Kanuckistanian trait.

  14. Instead of dwelling on Trudeau’s personality people should be asking who controls our PM? Canada is a socialist country and has been for decades. The history of socialism descending into totalitarianism is well established. Why did the Nazis attack the communist more than any other group in post war Germany? They were fighting for the same followers! People willing to sacrifice freedom and ethics to achieve the ultimate goal is the core.

Canada today has a school system and media controlled by socialists. At a minimum, the leadership of the non elected government workers are socialist. This virus is providing an opportunity for the socialist movement that hasn’t been seen since WW II. Political opposition has been neutered and the majority of Canadians have no other voice to listen to as most have no religion.

I suggest all Canadians get a copy of Friedrich Hayek’s “The Road to Serfdom” while they still can. I am sure it will be removed under some pretext.

    1. The fact that no one fought back is pathetic. “We are civilized people! Here is our cash! Come and kill us!” Fucking arm yourselves already, for crying out loud. It does not take much brains to be armed, just some thinking. Too tough?

          1. A crook cane, too. There are books devoted to it’s usage. All the way from breaking arms to necks. I have an 18″ Oxhead in the garage. Sharp. Good one-hander.

        1. I would not recommend blades for many good and sufficient reasons, but it is just me, and a double sock full of change works wonders on punks. A walking stick made of a carbon fibre golf club works just as well, whether stabbing or slashing.

      1. There are chairs, brooms, a pot of hot coffee, your belt, a cane, all kinds of makeshift defensive weapons at ones disposal.. Fire axes and extinguishers make dandy defensive/offensive weapons, are usually plentiful, clearly marked and accessible.. The fact that the terrorist is also OUTNUMBERED, if the people had chosen to act in a concerted effort against them.. Says as much about the people, as it does about the terrorist..
Wonder what would have happened, had the terrorist made it to the butcher’s shop?!
That being said, I’ve always carried a knife, since elementary school, Scouts are always supposed to “Be Prepared”! Never had to use it in that regard, but it was always better to have one and not need it that to need it and not have one!
        “Walk Softly”, and all that!

  15. Another page in the “Bezos is a corrupt cook” file:

Amazon is now committing massive fraud, by taking funds for the products supposedly “Sold by Amazon” with the 3-4 business day delivery option, holding the funds for weeks, and cancelling the orders. For anyone not aware of what overnight interest rate is in the banking industry, that is where banks make a giant chunk of their revenue. Amazon, holding funds in their account, earns interest. My whatever $50-$200 locked in their account, times x1000,000s of their customers, is a substantial sum of money. Bezos is pocketing millions daily through his fraudulent scheme.

Bezos will be the next to get the bug, or a noose thereafter.

    1. The media are reporting on Beijing’s lies now because everybody knows. More to the point, even Justin now understands his paymasters in Beijing screwed him dry. The Libranos are going the way of the federal PC’s. President Trump can look forward to a thumping victory in November.

Bravery is speaking truth to power BEFORE disaster strikes, knowing full well you’ll be called a racist for criticizing the Chinese—not after.

    2. Didn’t Andrew Nickiforuk get his start at Alberta Report? I’m not familiar with his writing but someone who I suspect is very left wing who has his eyes open when it comes to China is Terry Glavin. There used to be a strain of left wingers that are more interested in the democratic reform than economic reform. Those were the types that had been attracted to the Reform Party in the very early days.

      1. Terry Glavin is rather centrist, but he has been loudly anti-China for several years now. Read all his MacLeans and National Post archives and you’ll see a writer who cannot stand the corrupt Trudeau Liberals.

  16. Here’s the difference between pneumonia deaths of this flu season to the last few.

    https://mobile.twitter.com/WEschenbach/status/1246691004360491009

Would love to see total US deaths from all causes for 2020 versus past years. Funny that no one has done it.

I’m not saying Wuhan virus isn’t real. If you get it, and you are old with other health issues, you’ve got a problem. But given that the Hong Kong flu of 1968, came back three times and killed 100,000, it’s a problem we are all going to have to deal with this summer and next winter.

    1. Every year the flu season lasts 5-6 months. All these North American COVID deaths have happened in about two to three WEEKS. Let’s all remember time frames when we start quoting death rates.

      1. Chris, good point.

However, I’d like to see a plot of 2020 deaths versus 2019 and previous years. This will lead to better discussions and better decisions.

  17. And now Blackie’s CBC Political Scrum show this morning. The Unifor journalists agree that Trump is “Loathsome”. Trump is causing all the problems with the China virus. Its a good thing wonderful China is sending those masks. Blackie is wonderful for keeping national virus stats secret. Blackie is wonderful. The Quebec premier is wonderful. Everybody in the country should get free money.

  18. A quote from the comments of the linked article: “Apparently it’s a lot easier to yell about Trudeau, the east, buying Saudi oil etc. etc. than it is to acknowledge basic economics. That when your high production costs make your product uncompetitive in international markets you’re not going to sell any.”

    https://business.financialpost.com/news/alberta-premier-jason-kenney-talking-to-washington-about-slapping-tariffs-on-saudi-and-russian-oil#comments-area

    1. When you have a surplus of product chasing a smaller amount of pipeline space, do you know what happens?

      Just asking.

      1. Well apparently what happens is that your “conservative” premier goes further left than his NDP predecessor ever dreamed of.

          1. Anything that becomes rare becomes expensive. Anything that impedes delivery of a product should cause a decrease in supply, making the commodity more rare and hence more expensive.

Or am I totally off base, joe?

          2. My experience has been the producers get lower prices and the pipeline companies and end distribution companies pocket the difference. I’ve seen it happen many times.

          3. Don’t expect an answer, or at best even a straight answer from this schmuck.

          4. Price decreases and the least competitive sources go out of business. How it should be.

Or your government goes insane and tries to implement Smoot-Hawley 2 for oil.

          5. Price decreases and the least competitive go out of business.

So UnMe would be ok with big pockets me, producing far below cost, to bankrupt UnMe. At that point I can jack up the price to as much as I’d like. If UnMe finds new financial backing,I just repeat.

            Sounds like a plan!!!

          6. “So UnMe would be ok with big pockets me, producing far below cost, to bankrupt UnMe. At that point I can jack up the price to as much as I’d like.”

That’s your right-and a terrible business plan, because as soon as you jack up the price, new producers come online. A great way to go broke.

    2. Just you wait till a Pakistani hack puts down both your parents with a massive overdose of narcotics in lieu of treating them for Wuhan flu and you have to live by your own meagre wits for the first time in you miserable life.

Then we’ll see how great an economist you are.

Am I expected to be grateful that gas is cheaper? It’s still more expensive than it is in the States. The States I can’t drive to because Donald Trump finally has had rough of Chinada and slammed the border shut.

The price of gas has fallen through the floor because Justin and his pals have ordered the shitcanning of half of the western world. Nobody can afford gas—and most have nowhere to go if they could.

You never cease to amaze me.

      1. Actually the price of gas fell at least as much because OPEC+ fell apart, and yes, it’s high time you showed some gratitude.

    3. I would argue there is another reason for Alberta oil to be Continually TRASHED by these SOB’s in Ottawa & Quebec City….and as always, its about $$$$

The Quebec and Montreal Ports are run by the Longshoreman. They extract at the govts behest Multi Millions of BAKSHEESH annually from their preferred suppliers: Saudi, Eritrean, Venezuelan & Nigeria. Said multi Millions lubricates the entire Quebec Political Establishment. Energy EAST would have killed their Golden GOOSE…right.?? ERGO the trashing and obstructionism we saw. And in this I believe there is an underlying reason for all the Alberta Bashing – Alberta Energy Bashing and Fed Anti Alberta OIl legislation that has literally halted any increase in production by denying Pipeline Access to tidewater. None of which was helped by the Commie Queen and her Che loving crew.

Now many will say, yea well, oil prices crashed in 2014 and that’s the reason Alberta Oil isn’t doing that well – they fail however to note that the Oil Sands operators are not stupid and very innovative to say the least. By mid 2015 WCS could be put into the pIpes at a Cost ~ 23.50/bbl. USD. Anything above that was profit.

The REAL Reason in my opinion is that Trudeau, whose FAMILY has a long history with Oil and Gas, Monies that are the backbone of the TRUDEAU Foundation no less, are looking to do ENERGY WEST. PIPELINES are in fact Omni directional no..??

WIN WIN for Quebec (massively increased BAKSHEESH), and the death of Alberta Energy Production. That would explain much no..??

      1. I don’t understand how EE would decrease kickbacks. This makes no sense. Further, EE was uneconomical. Northern Gateway is the pipeline cancellation to get upset over.

You’re overcomplicating things. It’s simply the green war on energy at work and it’s lack of a serious response and kickback.

None of this justifies NEP Smoot-Hawley 2.0 btw.

  19. The cow of innocence. Holy shit I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. Funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time great post!

  20. Don’t know if this was posted as yet in the SDA, but the Canadian Jewish News has permanently shut down. Barbara Kay has a good column on its demise, in the NP and the Post Millennial. As a Christian, I subscribed to the paper version, starting from about 1995 until 2013, mostly to start reading a pro-Israel point of view. Pro-Israel advocacy was devoid in the establishment Canadian media then, and still is, so back then the CJN was a good information source. And this was especially true from 2001 onwards, when everybody suddenly became aware of the ugly spectre of Islam.

In 2013-2014, the CJR ran into financial trouble, and downsized, and starting to tilt left. This meant more opinion from anti-Israel Jews. So I discontinued reading the mag. The saying “go woke, go broke” explains part of its demise.

    1. ” Pro-Israel advocacy was devoid in the establishment Canadian media then, and still is”

Not true. The National Post not to mention the Sun “news” called BS on apologetics for Palestinian terror and still do.

  21. Would like to see this :

“Missed Opportunities under Stephen Harper for $500, Alex.”

as a regular category heading as a reminder to Conservatives on the off chance they fumble their way into power some time in the next couple of decades.

    1. You can have “Perfect Conservative Utopia (Max),” “Decent, Sometimes Dissappointing Conservative Realism (O’Toole),” or “Disfunctional Liberal Corruption (Trudeau).”
The first will never happen under First-Past-the-Post rules, the second occurs from time to time, and the third is normal. Time to choose Door Number 2.
The enemy of the good is the perfect.

  22. It is deeply offensive to me that a white male is playing the role of a female animal.

  23. DID BILL GATES JUST REVEAL THE REAL REASON BEHIND THE LOCK DOWNS

Millions could potentially die from suicide, drug abuse, lack of medical coverage or treatment, poverty and lack of food access, on top of other predictable social, medical and public-health problems stemming from the response to COVID-19.

Gates and Anderson did not touch on any of those sequelae. Instead, they focused on rapidly ramping up testing and medical interventions for COVID-19.

Then a few seconds later, at 33:45, Gates drops another bomb:

We don’t want to have a lot of recovered people…
To be clear, we’re trying – through the shut-down in the United States – to not get to one percent of the population infected. We’re well below that today, but with exponentiation, you could get past that three million [people or approximately one percent of the U.S. population being infected with COVID-19 and the vast majority recovering]. I believe we will be able to avoid that with having this economic pain.”

It appears that rather than let the population be exposed to the virus and most develop antibodies that give them natural, long-lasting immunity to COVID-19, Gates and his colleagues far prefer to create a vast, hugely expensive, new system of manufacturing and selling billions of test kits, and in parallel very quickly developing and selling billions of antivirals and vaccines.

  24. Justin’s Mom was strapped down by the police and hauled off to mental hospitals and was a frequent patient throughout her life.

He’s hiding because he’s just as weak mentally.

  25. I thought this was going to be about the decision people I know will have to make if during a famine I’m having them over, for dinner or am I inviting them over for, dinner?

  26. What have we learned today from Trudeau’s daily pop out? It must be lonely in Rideau Cottage all by himself with Sophie and the kids at Harrington Lake.

    1. Liz

I’m sure the bong has someone there to comfort him through these lonely nights.

      1. Minister of Tourism, Official Languages and La Francophonie of Canada. Ahem. Cough. Ahem.

  27. Wallace on FOX this morning throughout the program insists that the whole country should be shut down.
Can’t find it on youtube, its probably on FOX website.

  28. Bongo says he doesn’t want to escalate the situation between Canada and the US. In his next sentence he suggests ‘there are are lot of goods/services that Canada supplies to the US including 12,000 nurses and doctors who live in Canada but work in America’. Whats that supposed to infer? Sounds like a veiled threat.

Are these docs ones we trained in Canada with heavily subsidized medical educations? Just askin’

    1. The reality here is we need the US and they don’t need us. All those smug anti American bastards are about to finally face the consequences of their idiocy.

    2. The Canadian doctors—the competent ones—fled to the States as soon as they got their MD, where they could live much better, pay lower taxes and never have to hear another word of French.

Justin thinks the States are still in need of Pakistani hacks who still refuse to wash their goddamn hands and have killed more white people than they ever cured. All they’ll be good for when the chips are down is injecting grandma with a massive overdose of narcotics before having her hauled off to the crematorium and marking her cause of death as, uh, “climate change.”

      They are not.

  29. Another story from Gravitas, an outfit in India.

Your Story: Is Coronavirus a biological weapon? WION News | World News
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi88ac2PltM

It tells about the connection of Manitoba lab and Wuhan.
Does not come to conclusions, though you can tell what’s the target.
Apparently they don’t like Chinese that much.

What’s interesting is, that if you read newspapers, watch TV or listen to radio, you will find just about anything in the world connected to the Wuhan virus. How is it that the pretend ‘journalists’ are not looking at that connection.
Have not found any connection yet to Burkina Faso.

  30. If one doesn’t believe that we have a corrupt, paid-and-bought-for media, please read this pro-Liberal puff piece in the left-wing Globe and Mail:
    https://www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/article-patty-hajdu-brings-anthropology-public-health-experience-to/

Joan Bryden, who writes for the Canadian Press, has been writing drivel like this for years. Notably, conservatives have never called out her blatant bias — something I find troubling. Read the comments at the bottom of her propaganda piece, and note the anger from Globe readers.

I might add that propagandist Bryden doesn’t even bring up Hajdu’s ringing defence of China’s fraudulent virus data in her drivel.

    1. The Canadian Press is owned by The Globe & Mail, Square Victoria Communications Group (itself owned by Power Corporation), and Torstar (Corporation). You can’t possibly get more Toronto/Montreal/Liberal Party than that.

      1. Just another bloviator bloviating.
Sorry to single you out, but really.
Complain about the media. Complain. Complain. Complain.
        Do absolutely nothing. Nada. Bupkis.
        Rinse. Repeat.
        Please.

Seems like it is beyond unanimous that there is a huge problem with the Canadian Media.
        Huge.
        Country deforming.
        Disgraceful.
        Dangerous.
        Embarrassing.
        Yadas,yada,yada.

Unfortunately, in over 50 years of watching, never ever saw a “Conservative” with the balls, brains or brass to do the tiniest thing about it.
        Teeniest, tiniest thing.
        No oooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnneeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

It has become blaringly obvious that Canadians prefer life on their knees.

        1. I have made various official complaints to the CBC ombudsman, the Globe and Mail public editor, and the Ontario Press Council. So what you post (in poetry no less?) is factually wrong.

Tomorrow I am going to complain to the CBC ombudsman, over the CBC censoring the fact that Health Minister Hajdu defended China’s virus data production.

          1. And nobody wishes more than I that your complaints are the wings of the butterfly that brings great change.

And yet I highly doubt it.

One doesn’t defeat the enemy by playing by their rules.

One gets their false comfort where they can.

          2. David
What good is filing a complaint? The ombudsman answers to the corpse.

Has anything every come of any complaint filed against the cbc?

They are accountable to their librano masters.

          3. Abtrapper, you make a good point (above). As a person who has gone through the complaint process, I agree that the CBC ombudsman process is rigged. But I go through the complaint process anyways.

  31. Toronto now ups punishment for breaking social distancing rules to $1000.
Meh,I will just tell the cops I am off to destroy some railway signals..please send my Maple Syrup to the charity of “it’s” choice.
To my knowledge not one person involved in the idiotic and illegal rail blockades has been fined or imprisoned..
But if the dimwitted taxpayer should be out in search of affordable food or essential supplies…FINE THEM.

    Are we there yet?
When does this “Let them eat cake” mentality blow up?
Now on the bright side,at least the Canadian Economy will not suffer from the Wuhan Flu.
    It cannot.
It was already deceased, before we recognized the Chinese were lying.

    1. The rail stuff was a handy…LOOK SQUIRREL, for the COVID-19 invasion. Apparently still invading via Chinah flights arriving every day.

  32. Wondering what is happening with Builder Barbie aka Climate Barbie?
She thinks she’s now Caring Barbie but is she Babbling Barbie?

We pay her…(how much?) to come up with this:

    From the Montreal Gazette:

“Each Sunday in April, the Samuel De Champlain bridge in Montreal will light up in the colours of the rainbow in support of Montrealers, Canadians and all countries that face this difficult period with resilience and courage,” federal Infrastructure minister Catherine McKenna said in a statement.

    https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/rainbow-sundays-on-champlain-bridge/wcm/306c82ee-30e0-4ea7-a31b-82d8c86fb82b/

“Take care of yourself,” she added. “Together, we will get out of it.”

    “Together?”
Does she have a secret stash of drugs?
    Any Hydrochloroquinine?
I would ask how much did the Champlain Bridge cost to build?

But, especially in these times, that might seem lacking in exquisite manners, too gauche, eh?

    1. I prefer the nickname “Pothole Barbie” because, with her in charge of infrastructure, that’s what we’re going to end up with. (“Mr. Speaker, we have a pothole emergency in this country!”)

And, let me guess, the rainbowing will be accompanied by singing Kumbaya and/or Imagine? (“Rainbow Barbie”….. that fits her.)

      1. Good nicknames.
        Or, how about “Lectric Barbie”…?
If you saw the potholes in Montreal you would’ve not only wrecked your alignment but you would’ve thought you fell into a sinkhole. It was that bad!

        As for the song…
“Imagine all the people… gone? Where’d they go?”

        1. The last time I was in Montreal was more than 30 years ago. Back then, I noticed how the bridges were falling apart–concrete spalling off the structures everywhere. The road salt must have penetrated down to the rebar and the resulting corrosion products expanded enough to cause the concrete to fracture.

Edmonton’s streets aren’t much to brag about, either. A lot of it can be blamed on that brainless socialist mayor of about 30 years ago, Jan “People are more important than potholes” Reimer. We’re still paying for her idiocy.

          1. As you know, the unionists’ mentality is evident throughout our country and they are heavily reliant on make-work projects. Always building new stuff, be it roads, bridges etc. (Thanks to politicians)

The car dealerships must love it. I don’t think a car lasts longer than 5 years in large cities that salt their roads, like Montreal.

Check out this article about the building of the new Champlain Bridge in Mtl. At the end of the article there’s a short video by Jason Magder. It is fascinating. The bridge was badly needed, as you say, due to the rebar cracks and spalling of concrete cover. The new bridge was built right beside the old one. It is an important bridge as it heads into the downtown core from the south shore.

            https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/new-champlain-bridge-wont-be-ready-on-time-reports/

As you know Montreal is an old city (estab1642)  A few weeks ago I discovered the thousands of photos now available online from the McCord Museum. Montreal is continually revitalizing itself. A lot of the old buildings have been torn down apparently. See website linked below.

            Also…

If one were to get lost in this website, one would see some great photos of the Old West and some fascinating photos of the Natives that inhabited our neck of the woods, here in Alberta.

The Easterners really truly believed they owned Rupertsland!

            https://www.flickr.com/photos/museemccordmuseum/

  33. The Iisping Ponce has announced that 3 million surgical masks will arrive in Canada tomorrow.
They are coming from Red China. I wouldn’t want to be the first one to try them out.

    1. Troops arrive to Borden to be ready to deploy wherever they are needed to fight COVID epidemic.
They are needed in Ottawa right now, to arrest the turd dough and put him into a noose.
