  1. Almost all people killed by dogs are killed by pit bull types. Anyone who cannot control a pit bull should not own one. I have no problem with breed specific prohibition.

  2. Muscle dogs are bred to fight and kill. No other reason. I’m a dog guy who’s owned and trained dogs for decades.

I give pit bull types a wide berth. They misinterpret a situation and the results are enormous.

  3. A friend’s face was chewed off by a pit bull when she was sitting on her porch and reached out to pet the dog brought over by a neighbour.
She underwent four hours of surgery.

  4. 55 pound pit-bull took 2nd place in a pull contest, first place was taken by a 110 pound husky. Those dogs are powerful, and hard to control once “motivated”. My friend , who was 235 pounds had a 115 pound Chesapeake retriever , which was built like a bull dog. The dog could pull my friend are like a rag doll. Animals in general are much stronger pound for pound than humans

  5. I see Hornish’s husband could not be reached for comment.

Annie, if the possibility of the dog being put down is really your biggest concern, and not the possibility of your spending many years to prison—don’t fret. Any dog can be trained to lick his lonely mistress’s itchy crotch.

I’m sure LeRoy was a VERY good dog. Too bad he’s the only one who’ll pay for this in a manner that fits the crime.

  6. I support breed specific bans. My Golden was attacked without provocation by two pits. She survived. I hate those dogs. If I see one, we leave. We don’t visit with relatives who own them. I have alienated any friends who have them and I don’t care.

      1. I’ll bet that every one of his previous owners gave him up because they couldn’t control his aggressive behavior. The woman who adopted him is an idiot.

  7. I have actually changed my view on the breed, from supporting the breed ban to applying a more specific individual dog ban etc.
but I would still NOT leave a weak or elderly or otherwise vulnerable person within striking range.
and guess what, *same* with any large dog with a breed history of attacks and injury.

I adopted a part mastiff some 3 yrs ago.
early on at one point, he was rather snarly with me. I decided that nite to let him go, but by morning gave him a 3rd chance.
I took it upon *myself* to figure out why the snarling. determined he was just ansty when someone got too too much in his space.
and made allowances. now, those 3yrs later, he morphed into a gentleman, yielding to the golden retriever when it comes to the supper dish and such. also, when I mosey downtown to the ATM with $1,000 rental I/C on me, HE makes sure it all gets deposited.

bite strength. crikey. I stuffed him into the backyard shed for a timeout, he proceeded to tear the door jamb to splinters and bit the steel doorknob so hard looked like sumbuddy took a pickaxe to it.

Q: “howcum ya got such a big intimidating dog there hb”?
A: “ya just answered yer own question dude”

    1. Pitbull 100X more aggressive and unpredictable and triggerable than a mastiff. Worst part is pitbulls never get snarly. They just go from happy smile to ripping your face off with nothing but microseconds in between. I used to be entirely in favour of no breed bans until my golden girl was mauled and I personally experienced the “happy smile to ripping your face off with nothing but microseconds in between” effect.
