  8. Even for the Scheer partisans here, it should be a shocking, disgraceful, revelation that the election is being fixed, not by Russians, but by Canadians. The Commissioner of the Leaders’ Debates Commission, Mr. David Johnston, has ruled that the PPC cannot be represented in the televized debates because the opinion polls say he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell.

    Well, I would call that pre-judging the election. Johnston is obviously running interference for the Laurentian Elites here. If the opinion polls can do the job for us, then why bother with an election at all?

    Since when have opinion polls been trusted? They are a tool to sway public opinion, not measure it.

      All he is trying to do this election is defeat Scheer.

      We’ll see what happens to Max in 2023, if he and PPC are still around. Remember Derek Fildebrant and the Freedom Conservative Party? They got 0.52% of the vote in the Alberta election.

      So if Max is not just trying to defeat Scheer out of spite, the issue for “true” conservatives is how to get elected.

      You can be as principled as you want, but if you don’t get elected you don’t get your policies enacted.

        And as for pipelines, Max will build Energy East, but only if Alberta sells the oil to Quebec at low prices, so Quebec can sell it at world prices. Just like the Hydro deal with Newfoundland (Newfounland gets $65 million a year, Quebec gets a billion. And not a peep from Max).

        Still waiting to hear from Max on defence.

        2. If you want to get rid of equalization, the best way to do it is to dissolve the federation. Other than national defence there isn’t anything that the feds do that can’t be done better at the provincial level. Most of what they do is a replication of what’s done at the provincial level. They do such a shit job at national defence that they effectively don’t even bother. Local volunteer militias would be as effective. If you want to fix the country, dissolve the country.
