Her mistake was thinking that progressives are interested in any conversation. She said it herself, they are children. You can’t have an intellectual conversation with a child. Her efforts will continue to be disappointing.
It’s worse than that, my friend.
No, they don’t want to talk, reason, or compromise. We keep playing Lefty’s game: they call us racists/homophobes/haters, we spend an hour proving that we aren’t, and that they themselves are the haters – and they give us the finger and call us something else.
These guys not only want to silence you, they want to kill you and take your stuff. That is why they’re doing this. This is what those people do. They are demonizing you so that they can feel good about what they eventually are going to do to you.
We’ve been trying to reason with these cretins for 40 years now. They’ve taken the soap box, they’re stuffing the ballot box now…it just MIGHT be time to consider other options folks.
This is a fair summation of the task at hand..
“… practicing intolerance in the name of tolerance…”
That sums up progressives in a nutshell. They are also very talented at practicing racism in the name of racial equality and pushing censorship in the name of diversity.
Three points that should be catching on.
Point 1
There seems to be a disagreement over whether “rights” are defined by personal benefit or defined as a natural fact. The delineation seems to be one where the left favours the definition as personal benefits and the right prefers the definition as what is naturally right.
Point 2
This leads to two decision trees where the root of all decisions is based on either some legal fiction on one side, or based on natural law on the other.
Point 3
The decision tree that favors legal fiction as its means test requires a never ending source of sustainment, while the one that favors natural law tends to sustain itself without human intervention.
To put this briefly, there are some things that are naturally self evident,
That we are born because of procreation – life.
We are born with a free mind that can conjugate independent thought – liberty.
And that because we can form independent thought and have the ability to act on them, will act in a manner that is beneficial to ourselves in spite of anyone else – pursuing those things beneficial that make us happy.
Its kind of self evident, the key theme though is this is centered on the individual not a collective fact.
Its a natural fact, inalienable, and right.
Something that does not require a legal fiction to be sustained.
Dennis Prager is testifying this morning before a Senate committee investigating the shutting up of conservative voices on social media. Should be interesting.
The SturmAbteilung have changed their name to Antifa and their uniform colour from brown to black. Same goal, suppress the opposition, same methods (violence preferred over argument.) It’ll go the same way – to war.
The only differnce being, Ernst Rohms’ boys were not afraid to show their faces…
That this nazi filth is seemingly “allowed” to do their thing, shows to me, that Police and its political leadeship is all too often, 100% sympathetic…
Other options.? , damned straight
“The only differnce being, Ernst Rohms’ boys were not afraid to show their faces…”
That is not the only difference. They also has impeccable personal hygiene.
I suppose one of the primary differences between the woke snowflakes of Portland (read: all of contemporary Western civilization) and myself, is that I KNOW what a REAL “hostile environment” looks like. Hint; it isn’t an ‘opinion’ that hurts your feelings. No, I grew up in a REAL hostile environment for the first 18 years of my life. A hostile environment of divorce, alcoholism, violence … you name it. When I share the details of my childhood, the typical reaction is stunned silence and a gaping mouth.
But compared to the snowflakes of today, I consider myself LUCKY! Because I didn’t grow up believing I was a victim. Nope. Despite the very real HORRORS (and I use that word advisedly) of my childhood, I never considered myself a victim. In fact, I was a happy kid, if not a bit overcompensating jokester. I refused to ever let circumstances beyond my power, to control me. Perhaps that’s why I am such an iconoclast (?).
Instead, I considered myself someone who had been tossed into a raging river and had two simple choices; sink or swim. Well, thank the Lord, I was born with a strong survival instinct. (and a natural swimmer). And as anyone caught in a river current can tell you, struggling against the current will kill you. You need to go with the flow, then slowly work your way to shore. I went with the flow, but worked carefully to extract myself from a raging river before it would have sent me over the deadly falls.
The snowflakes of our culture are flailing against forces they cannot change (hint: they cannot change my opinions by doxxing me, calling me names, or even by throwing a bike lock in my face). And if social media Titans declare me “dangerous” and bring the full power of their Reich against me? They won’t eliminate me. They might force me underground like the French resistance … but they won’t defeat me. I will survive. I always have. At the very core of my being is a finely-tuned sense of SURVIVAL. A characteristic they know NOTHING about. They can ONLY exist in a Reich … and as we all know … Reich’s come and go … but human strength and survival go on forever.
The Left are a danger to themselves because ultimately they will reap what they have sown.
Ultimately, yes, I am ok with that. It is the stage between now and then that has me a bit worried.
That seemingly nice intelligent lady now knows that in the culture, the enemy of reason dominates, particularly in a progressive outpost like Portland. The mindless thugs actualizing their liberal arts professorial rants aren’t interested in dialogue in which they are ill equipped to engage. The left are looters and thugs, entirely premised on brute force or the threat thereof. Expending energy trying to reason with the vast majority of them is a lost cause (getting into a fight with a pig…). Ironically, we now have access to technology allowing the ease of debate like no other previous time and yet the cultural climate for actual debate has never been worse.
One of the ugly aspects of capitalism, unfortunately, is the internal hostility to those within a corporate environment burdened with principled conservative / libertarian principles. It conflicts with the business school mantra of the customer / “stakeholder” always being right regardless of how distasteful the relationship. That’s also something that nice lady should have learned from her experience in Portlandia.
That commonly misquoted axiom.
The customer is not always right.
The customer always has a right to raise their concerns.
I had heard that “the customer is always right” said by Harry Gordon Selfridge was a statement of the customer’s mental attitude, not a guide to consumer relation behavior.
While I was teaching, I concluded that “creating a safe learning environment” meant not imposing discipline or expecting students to actually earn their grades.
That sounds like a safe from learning environment.
The institution I was at adopted the “student as customer” doctrine, so whatever the kiddies wanted, they were supposed to get.
