Blame Something

Blame somebody. Blame anybody, but.

The evacuees staying at the University of Regina residences are under duress and struggling in an unfamiliar environment, said Saskatchewan’s fire safety commissioner Duane McKay after several disturbances and three incidents on the campus that led to criminal charges.

About 420 people have arrived in Regina from the Pikangikum First Nation, a fly-in community in northwestern Ontario. It’s still not clear when they will be able to go home.

Saskatchewan’s government pledged to accept as many as 2,000 evacuees last week as fire threatened the community. McKay said there has been “a number of incidents” that have occurred since their arrival.

Some of the disturbances involved violence and damage to the residences, but McKay said nothing amounted to “large-scale destruction.”

“These individuals are coming from a very remote community, they’re in a very strange environment,” he said.

I blame the soft bigotry of low expectations.

  1. 100 years from now liberals hope for the exact same behaviour and living conditions for people subject to the Indian Act, it’s a goldmine, a bigger budget than Defence when all expenditures are included, and a huge bang for those bucks going to lawyers and activists.

too many chiefs… not enough adult supervision…

Sapers pointed to statistics that show the total number
of people incarcerated in federal institutions went down
by 12 per cent between 1996 and 2004. But the number
of native inmates increased 21 per cent in the same period.

The figures were even more dramatic for native women,
whose numbers rose by a startling 74 per cent.

  2. Why are the members of an Ontario FN band being housed in Regina. Experts tell me Regina is in Saskatchewan, second Province West of Ontario, with poverty stricken Little Manitoba in between.

So I have to ask,why is Ontario’s problem being foisted on Saskatchewan? Are all Ontario accommodations so full of irregular immigrants there’s no room left to house Canadian citizens in desperate need?

These folks should have been airlifted right into Toronto, greatest city on Earth, which would give city dwellers in that area a chance to schmooze with the Noble Redmen they hear so much about on CBC. Put ’em up at the best hotels in downtown TO, complete with generous hospitality including an open bar, and let these rural Ontarians get to know their city dwelling brethren.
But again ,wtf are Ontario Natives doing in Regina?

    1. What you say makes a lot of sense Don, but those hotels are full of “refugees”.

    2. I would start by saying that natives are the property of the feds, not the province, so which ever province they go to is immaterial. Secondly, if you look at a map Toronto is a lot farther away than Regina. Of course at first glance Winnipeg or Thunder Bay would be more obvious choices.

  3. “I blame the soft bigotry of low expectations.”
Yep, white folk sure have a low bar. I see them homeless, hooking, making and selling drugs, beating their wives and children, getting in drunken brawls, destroying property.
And that’s just in small towns.
Who knows what shit they get up to in the big city, like Pedophile rape right Epstein and Weinstein.
I got this Ukranian neighbor I’m pretty certain raped his two daughters with his wife’s knowledge. With the oldest, it became consensual after she turned of age.
I knew these two cousins who lived together in a relationship.
A few years back one Italian city councilman was arrested for raping his pre-teen granddaughter.
I have these white trailer trash renting behind me and they throw all kinds of shit in the backyard, called the owner and cops at least three times. One of them was being investigated for stealing bikes.
My derelict white brother knew these derelict white couple who lived with their dad. Dad did a runner and left them the house. They never paid the mortgage. When repo time came they destroyed the house even smearing shit on the walls.
I knew middle-class white kids that were involved in B&E gangs which involved up to a hundred of them.
    Whitey sho be fucked up.
( Child molestation is RAPE, to be clear).

    1. So you know about some whites from as far away as Italy who are not upstanding citizens. Wow, such a revelation! But your post kind of ignores the fact that the Regina hell-raising is being done by members of a group of 420, whereas your examples are drawn from a vastly larger population base.

      1. You seem to ignore the fact that you were not there and have zero clues as to motivation Except for the wife beater. All you know is the narrative presented from the story.
Have you examined and compared the community crime statistics to those of the 420 visitors?
You can work out the relative percentage of a population of comparable size.
The issue is no one is pure, no culture nor nationality is morally superior to another.
Did you know that ugly people go to jail more often and for longer sentencing than attractive ones?
Does that make all ugly people criminals automatically?
Although I do enjoy the defense of racism and the idea that four hundred and twenty newcomers committed had four arrests. That is one for every one-hundred and two.
What are the “normal” community crime stats?
        Did you research that?
        Of course not.
Here you hate Indigenous peoples, Muslims, Hispanics, and Blacks. Zero Hedge would toss Jews in the mix. And for some reason, everyone mislabels left/right, Liberal/Conservative. As if their Ven diagrams don’t overlap on certain positions.

Regina still has one of the highest crime rates in Canada, but numbers are trending down
A year after leading the country in crime rates, there are small signs of changing times in the Queen City.

That’s according to new numbers released by Statistics Canada this morning.

Regina’s crime severity index dropped by 11 per cent in 2017, the second largest dip in the country.

That follows a 15 per cent increase from the year before.

Regina Police Service Chief Evan Bray says less break and enters and a decrease in robberies contributed to the decline.

However, Regina still remains near the top with the third highest crime severity index and the second highest crime rates- with Saskatoon snatching the unsavory number one spot.

Bray told reporters it was important to look at the root causes of each statistic.

In the case of a seven per cent increase in reported sexual assaults from 2016 to 2017, Bray pointed to an increased number of people coming forward as a result of the #metoo movement, and RPS policy changes to the handling of complaints.

“We made quite a few significant changes here in terms of the environment, the location in which a sexual assault is reported, the manner in which they’re investigated, and event the training we give our investigators for investigating a sexual assault,” Bray noted. “Victims need to feel safe in coming forward, and I think that is what you see- this is not acceptable behaviour and as a result, we’ve seen an increase in reporting. I’m happy to say, in our city, a better investigation is being done as a result of some of the adaptations we’ve made.”

Across the prairies, provinces are also struggling with rural crime.

In Saskatchewan, the rural crime rate is 36 per cent higher than in urban centres. Officers say city police, RCMP, and concentrated units need to work together to tackle the issue.

        1. I have no idea what your discourse on Regina crime tends has to do with anything, but by all means let’s compare crime rates. In the space of a few days 1% of this group has been charged with crimes involving violence (not to mention the property damage). So, since Regina has a population of 229,000, if the city’s residents were involved in violence to the same degree as these guests, we would expect 2,290 criminal charges against that group for the same time period. You can use your research skills to see if that happened.

        2. You hate me, I hate you, everyone hates everyone else, can’t we just stop pretending that we all love each other and get on with our lives?

        3. Reported crime rates go down when the population figures out they are wasting everyone’s time reporting them because police are in the statistics business not the crime solving business.

    2. You seem to have comprehension problems. When whites do criminal things, we don’t make excuses for them, we throw them in jail. With Indians, we pretend that this is all we can expect of them, and act accordingly. See the difference?

  4. I remember when natives from northern Sask were housed on campus in Saskatoon There were some minor problems but the thing that sticks in my mind was seeing the kids discover the escalators.

  5. -“These individuals are coming from a very remote community, they’re in a very strange environment,” he said.-

    Because it’s 2015!~stuff Zoolander said.
Why don’t you ever see Indians on StarTrek? ‘Cause they don’t work in the future, either./
and here we all are near the end of the 2nd decade of the 21century, 2020 will begin the 3rd decade

  6. How strange.

When the enormous, axis-tilting earthquake affected the Sendai region of Japan in 2011, I heard of no violence or disorderliness. Indeed, much of the area is now rebuilt.

It must be a global warming thing or something.

  7. Across the street from the western entrance into the U of R lands, are some of the nicest homes in Regina, especially good looking at night when the lights are on them. I checked and none are for sale at the moment.

From the student size cubbies these people are staying in, (are they staying in College West?) it’d be easy to look across Wascana Parkway and think that “those people are super wealthy”. Well a large number of them are wealthy, many that live across the street are the Profs that teach at the U of R. Maybe they’ll walk across the street in these days and see if they have any pretty flowers to pick. Or set up “traditional prairie housing”. For example.

    1. Mayhaps someone should enlighten them that the whitey’s across road are their boogeymen, started the fire that drove them from their homes, and stole their underpants.

Put up a sign, with a big arrow, that says “Your money is in their houses.”

Don’t forget to press record on the camera. 😉

  8. I blame Global Warming for the fires which have hit … underserved … people of color … the hardest. No eco-justice, no peace.

“Give me your money!” … it won’t change the environment, but they’ll be able to buy some bling … and meth, marijuana, cocaine …

  9. The ones charged have hit the provincial jackpot. No way are they going to get flown out of a remote Ontario reserve to Saskatchewan to face assault charges that would likely rate a suspended sentence or a fine which they wouldn’t pay anyways.

  10. What I don’t understand is why aren’t healthy 16-50 year old males kept at the reserve to help fight the fires and save their homes? The Feds can send military from Saskatchewan to fight fires in B.C. with just a couple days training. Why not a couple days training for the FNs and send them off to defend their homes.

  11. So can we expect the same behaviours from the refugee and illegal immigrant populations who are also fleeing their homes and going into new and different environments?

  12. Good to know that being in an unfamiliar environment is now grounds for violence and destruction. The things you learn from government.

  13. If you can, read the police stats about the Prairie Thunder (Craven) Music festival. There were a lot of arrests and charges, mostly to white folks getting drunk and stupid.

On the other hand, they didn’t wreck the place.

  14. My father spent time in a concentration camp, so I think I’ll go rob a bank.

  15. Odd … Both articles neglected to give a thumbs up to the massive and helpful assistance of the Dept. of Indian Affairs. Why no kudos to them? Are the journalists biased?

  16. Pikangikum and Polar Hill were disfunctional crapholes when I worked there 45 years ago…..sounds like things have got worse.
