Here is a helpful guide.

Reality is that liberal, NDP, Green all have no sense of shame therefore humiliation is impossible.
The actions by Xi should hardly be surprising.
China has long seen itself as the master and ruler of the world. Much of what’s happened in recent times is revenge for what it calls the “hundred years of humiliation” by the west, which it considers to be uncivilized and barbaric.
Just look at what’s happening in the South China Sea. It’s been illegally occupying small islands that belong to other countries, such as the Philippines, or constructing islands on existing reefs. Those islands are being occupied by People’s Liberation Army personnel and not for the purported purpose of “weather research”.
So far, China under Xi has managed to antagonize Japan and Viet Nam (two old enemies) as well as the aforementioned Philippines and Indonesia.
This will not end well.
Premier Xi is a Stalinist dictator of the second largest economy on the planet. Everyone trading with them have done so either as ambivalent players or those turning a blind eye on the “terms”. No one should be surprised that those terms now entail his dissatisfaction with our application of the rule of law. His only close rival at present is the US and Trump. Canada could have Winston Churchill, Maggy Thatcher, or Jesus Christ as Prime Minister and his contempt for us would be little different. We are a big-mouth poseur nation, desperate at times to flog our resource-based products, cowering under the skirt of the US military in his eyes and he isn’t wrong on that. All trade with China is on his terms. It will be interesting to see if Trump caves in to him.
