          2. Twisted is right. I helped do a video on telemarketers at one point. It is a thankless job. Most people doing it absolutely hate it. They do it because they are desperate for a job. Some small communities have been able to open call centres to compensate for the loss of other jobs. It’s all that’s available. Why go out of your way to make these people even more miserable? Harassing small business people is also not particularly admirable. Have some compassion.

          3. I get calls from telemarketers who don’t even do their homework. I get offers to have my ducts cleaned, even though I live in an apartment. Some insist that there’s something wrong with my computer (my Windoze computer, even though most of my machines run FreeBSD) and they have the solution…. provided I give them my credit card number.

            Nobody’s forcing them to take those jobs. Remember what Harry Truman said: “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.” And, yes, I’ve been out of work and on the dole, so I’ve known tough times, but I also had my limits as to what I’d be willing to do in order to pay my bills and buy groceries.

Trump really doesn’t want/need a trade deal with China, the 25% (Tariffs) tax on China imports creates a positive economic environment for USA manufacturing… China will lose serious market share to USA consumers if they try to pass-through the tariffs… This is the ideal situation giving USA Manufacturing a boast & a competitive advantage…..

    The same long term advantage would be obtainable with the NO NAFTA option…..Tariffs level the competitive labor price difference….Manufacturing in Canada, or Mexico becomes less advantages to US firms, better to stay in the USA….More jobs and wealth

      Trade is supposed to be beneficial to both countries. You grow better fruits and vegetables so I buy your fruits and vegetables. I produce better grains, you buy my grains. With tariffs, you tax my grains, I tax your produce. It isn’t a long term solution.

      China is not playing a fair game when it comes to trade but there is no need to punish Canada and Mexico as well.

      Us young bastard’s would be sent in there hung over to clean the suction screens.
      And the Ladies thought that was hilarious entertainment. So did the Boss, he would always, always hang around to make sure he saw us puke our guts out, then he would say “If you can’t run with the big dogs stay on the damn porch” ha ha ha as he walked away. So yah I have done dirty jobs. If it was legal I would do it. But I got my revenge on the Laughing Ladies, one day I brought the bucket up and dumped on the floor in front of them.
      The evidence was laid before the court. Exhibit A. Exhibit B was the sign from the bathroom waved in their face.
      It worked the Ladies were very careful after that, they being Ladies did not like a public display of their situation and 2 or 3 young men laughing like hell at them as they cried out Santa Maria and crossing themselves.

    It’s only 266 pages! Ezra gets a bit stuck on his own topics, but you get a glimpse of a future Canada that can be a source of good leadership for the world. Black seems to think that you can change Government by throwing out the old one. He does advocate a complete
    revitalization of Education with merit as a guiding principle for teachers and students. (good luck with the Unions) I believe this is a man who laughs at obstacles.

    A serious historian and scholar, Conrad Black seems to sweep a Marxist century of propaganda and loss of liberty to the side. But I haven’t read the book. Even if I read it, I still won’t have Conrad’s big brain or his years of leadership and business experience. Imagine trying to debate him on any subject?

      He is an eloquent wordsmith and a knowledgeable historian who I enjoy reading but his opinions are just that, his opinions. There are others equally valid.

      1. Right you are. He is an excellent writer. For example, his opinion regarding the Press and others: he said, on September 2, 2017, in a piece in the Post, that they were the: ” jackal media and its witless Canadian echo chamber.” Ha, hah! I like that one!

        When I read Peter C Newman’s “The Canadian Establishment” Volume one, published in ~1976, I believe it was here that I found out that this Montrealer was a crafty businessman, his acquisitions were legendary. It was very scandalous that he was later jailed in the USA, and it was very humbling for him. That said I haven’t head all his stuff, perhaps in the near future. Would like to learn more about his time in the can.
